Background: To explore the therapeutic effect of Tongxinluo capsule (Tongxinluo) on patients with Syndrome X and Affective Disorder. Methods: Fifty-six patients with Syndrome X and Affective Disorder were randomly divided into a Tongxinluo capsule group and a placebo control group. The duration of treatment was 12 weeks. A 6-minute walking test, exercise load electrocardiogram and clinical symptom assessment were performed before and after treatment. After 12 weeks of treatment, the scores of the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) were repeated. The levels of serum endothelin-1 (ET-1) and nitric oxide (NO) were measured before and after treatment. Results: Compared with the placebo control group, the Tongxinluo group SAS and SDS scores were lower than those before treatment (all P 0.05) when compared to before treatment. In the Tongxinluo treatment group, the levels of plasma endothelin-1 decreased significantly (P < 0.01) and nitric oxide levels were significantly increased (P < 0.01), with a significant difference when compared to the control group (P < 0.01). Conclusions: The Tongxinluo capsule can improve the Affective Disorder of Syndrome X, reduce the degree of anxiety and depression, increase exercise tolerance, reduce clinical symptoms, and improve vascular endothelial function.

Effect of Tongxinluo capsule combined with metoprolol on elderly patients with coronary heart disease and angina pectoris and its influence on hemorheology and inflammatory factors

Objective To investigate the effect of Tongxinluo capsule combined with metoprolol on elderly patients with coronary heart disease and angina pectoris and its influence on hemorheology and inflammatory factors. Methods 135 elderly patients with angina pectoris of coronary heart disease were selected, and they were randomly divided into treatment group (68 cases) and control group (67 cases). The treatment group was treated with Tongxinluo capsule combined with metoprolol, while the control group was treated with metoprolol.The two groups were treated for 8 weeks.The curative effect of the two groups was compared, the number and duration of angina pectoris, the changes of hemorheology and inflammatory factors before and after treatment were compared. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group (94.12%) was higher than 76.12% of the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the frequency and duration of angina pectoris in the treatment group were (6.03±1.21)times/week and (3.02±0.76)min/time, respectively, which were significantly lower than those in the control group[(9.87±1.46) times/week and (4.86±0.98)min/time](t=16.649, 12.201, all P<0.05). After treatment, the whole blood viscosity at high shear rate[(3.76±0.41)mPa/s], whole blood viscosity in low shear[(8.13±0.76)mPa/s], plasma viscosity[(1.23±0.08)mPa/s], erythrocyte aggregation index[(2.06±0.27)], fibrinogen[(2.46±0.41)g/L]in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group[(4.53±0.52)mPa/s, (9.61±0.89)mPa/s, (2.09±0.27)mPa/s, (2.63±0.35), (3.53±0.62)g/L](t=9.562, 10.396, 25.170, 10.604, 11.844, all P<0.05). After treatment, the interleukin-6 (IL-6)[(8.49±1.76)pg/mL], intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1)[(85.25±8.92)pg/mL], C reactive protein (CRP)[(8.74±1.76)mg/L]in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group[IL-6 (11.32±2.10)pg/mL, ICAM-1 (103.42±10.72)pg/mL, CRP (14.98±2.24)mg/L](t=8.491, 10.712, 18.012, all P<0.05). Conclusion Tongxinluo capsule combined with metoprolol in the treatment of elderly patients with coronary heart disease angina pectoris has obvious curative effect, and can improve the patients' blood rheology and inflammatory reaction. GW26-e0085 Chinese Patent Medicine Tongxinluo capsule for Hypertension: A Systematic Review of randomised controlled trials

Background. This study was intended to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Tongxinluo capsule for hypertension. Search Strategy. We searched the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) in the Cochrane Library, The PubMed, EMBASE, Chinese Bio-Medical Literature Database (CBM), Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Scientific Journal Database, and Wan-fang Data started from the first of database to October 28, 2013. No language restriction was applied. We included randomized clinical trials testing Tongxinluo capsule against western medicine, Tongxinluo capsule versus placebo, and Tongxinluo capsule combined with westernmedicine versus westernmedicine. Study selection, data extraction, quality assessment, and data analyses were conducted according to the Cochrane standards. Results. 25 trials with 1958 participants were included.The methodological quality of the included trials was evaluated as generally low.The blood pressure (BP) lowering effect of Tongxinluo capsule plus western medicine was significantly higher than that of western medicine (systolic blood pressure (SBP): −3.87, −5.32 to −2.41, P < 0.00001; and diastolic blood pressure (DBP): −2.72, −4.19 to −1.24, P = 0.0003). The BP also decreased significantly from baseline with Tongxinluo capsule than placebo (SBP: −9.40, −10.90 to −7.90, P < 0.00001; and DBP: −11.80, −12.40 to −11.20, P < 0.00001) or western medicine (SBP: −3.90, −4.93 to −2.87, P < 0.00001; and DBP: −3.70, −3.83 to −3.57, P < 0.00001). 12 trials reported adverse events without details. Conclusions. There is some but weak evidence about the effectiveness of TXL in treating patients with hypertension.

Objective To investigate the effects of tongxinluo pretreatment on platelet activity and function of vascular endothelium and TIMI blood flow as well as prognosis in patients with acute myocardial infarction after delayed PCI. Methods 80 patients with acute coronary syndrome were randomly divided into tongxinluo (TXL) pretreatment group (40 patients) and conventional treatment group (40 patients). 40 healthy people as control group. we examined the patient9s blood CD62p, CD63, glucose protein (GP)IIb/IIIa and endothelium 1(ET-1), von Willebrand factor (vWF), nitric oxide (NO) levels from before treatment and one week and one month after the treatment of PCI in the two groups. Then the patients in TXL group received TXL treatment for 1 week (4 tablet tid) before PCI and compared the above parameters, TIMI bood flow, corrective TIMI flow count (CTFC)with conventional treatment group. Results The AMI patient9 s blood CD62p, CD63, GPIIb/IIIa, vWF and ET-1 levels increased significantly (all p TXL can inhibit the patient9s platelet activity and protect the vascular endothelium function as well as improve the TIMI blood flow and cardial function as well as the prognosis after the treatment of PCI.

目的 探讨通心络胶囊对高血压患者血脂和血清超敏C反应蛋白(CRP)水平的影响.方法 收集2010年11月至2012年11月河北省华北油田总医院收治的92例高血压患者,采用随机数字表法将患者随机分为两组各46例,对照组采用厄贝沙坦治疗,治疗组在对照组治疗基础上配合通心络胶囊治疗,治疗结束后比较两组患者的CRP和相关血脂指标的改善程度,以及血压的控制情况.结果 ①血压控制情况比较:治疗后对照组高血压控制有效率为74.0%,治疗组为91.3%,两组高血压控制有效率比较,差异有统计学意义(χ2＝6.28,P＜0.05).② CRP水平变化比较:两组患者治疗后CRP水平[治疗组为(1.03±0.46)mg/L,对照组为(1.94±0.58)mg/L]均较同组治疗前[分别为(2.37±0.79)mg/L,(2.56±0.92)mg/L]明显改善(P＜0.05),且治疗组疗效优于对照组.③血脂水平变化比较:两组患者治疗后血清总胆固醇(TC)、甘油三脂(TG)、低密度脂蛋白(LDL)水平[治疗组分别为(4.03±0.51)mmol/L、(1.69±0.36)mmol/L、(3.17±0.48)mmol/L,对照组分别为(4.86±0.47)mmol/L、(2.03±0.47)mmol/L、(3.45±0.66)mmol/L]均较同组治疗前[治疗组分别为(5.14±0.63)mmol/L、(2.28±0.62)mmol/L、(3.76±0.83)mmol/L,对照组分别为(5.08±0.86)mmol/L、(2.31±0.54)mmol/L、(3.81±0.75)mmol/L]明显改善(P＜0.05),且治疗组疗效优于对照组.结论 通心络胶囊可改善高血压患者C反应蛋白和血脂水平。

Effects of tongxinluo capsule on cardiac ventricle remodeling after myocardial infarction: a multicentre clinical research

To investigate the effects of tongxinluo (TXL) capsule on cardiac ventricle remodeling after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Seventy AMI patients were randomly divided into 2 equal groups: conventional therapy group treated with conventional Western therapy and TXL treatment group treated with TXL capsule for 6 weeks in addition to the conventional treatment. Cardiac color ultrasound was conducted before and 6 weeks after the treatment to examine the changes of ventricular structure, mass and function. Radioimmunoassay was used to detect the levels of angiotensin II (Ang II) and endothelin-1 (ET-1). Six weeks later, the left ventricular posterior wall thickness of end-diastolic (LVPWTD), left ventricular end-systolic dimension (LVESD), and left atrium dimension (LAD) of the TXL group were 0.93 cm +/- 0.09 cm, 3.71 cm +/- 0.19 cm, and 3.21 cm +/- 0.29 cm respectively, all lower than those before treatment (0.93 cm +/- 0.09 cm, 3.71 cm +/- 0.19 cm, and 3.21 cm +/- 0.29 cm respectively) and those of the conventional treatment group (0.95 cm +/- 0.08 cm, 3.62 cm +/- 0.46 cm, and 3.82 cm +/- 0.30 cm) (all P < 0.05), the ejection-fraction (EF) improvement rate of the TXL group was 63% +/- 7%, significantly higher than that before treatment (52% +/- 6%) and that of the conventional treatment group (59% +/- 8%, both P < 0.05). TXL capsule in addition to conventional therapy has a positive effect on the prognosis of AMI via reversing the ventricular remodeling, and improving cardiac function.

Objective: To investigate the influence of Tongxinluo capsule (TXL) on regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) with 99mTc-ECD single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) brain perfusion imaging, and to observe the therapeutic effects of TXL on acute small cerebral infarction (ASCI).Methods: Thirty-four patients with ASCI were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups: the control group (n = 17) was treated with the conventional treatment, i.e. 1. 0g of Citicoline added into 300 ml normal saline for intravenous dripping daily for 2 weeks and 0.8 g of Piracetam taken three times a day orally for 4 weeks, and the treatment group (n = 17) was treated additionally with 4 TXL capsules three times a day for 4 weeks besides the conventional treatment. The 99mTc-ECD SPECT brain perfusion imaging was performed before and after treatment to observe the change of rCBF, and the neurological deficit was evaluated by Edinburgh-Scandinavia stroke scale (SSS) scores and Barthel index (BI) at the same time.Results: After treatment, the rCBF in the treatment group was significantly improved (P<0.01), while that in the control group remained unchanged, with the comparison of the rCBF in the two groups after treatment showing significant difference (P<0.01). In addition, the SSS score was significantly lower and Bl significantly higher in the treatment group than those in the control group respectively after treatment.Conclusion: TXL could effectively improve rCBF and lessen the neurological deficit symptoms in patients with ASCI.

Effect of tongxinluo capsule on plasma endothelin and calcitonin gene related peptide in patients with unstable angina pectoris

To investigate the effect of Tongxinluo capsule (TXLC) on the patients with unstable angina pectoris (UAP). Patients of UAP were divided into two groups, the treated group (n = 60) was treated with TXLC and the Danshen group (n = 30) was treated with composite Danshen tablet. The plasma endothelin (ET) and calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) were measured before and after treatment. Data were compared between the two groups and also compared with those measured in 20 healthy subjects for control. ET level was higher and CGRP level lower significantly in UAP patients than that in healthy subjects significantly (P < 0.05). After TXLC treatment, ET significantly lowered (P < 0.01) and CGRP increased (P < 0.05). But in the Danshen group after treatment, the former decreased (P < 0.05), while the latter remained unchanged (P > 0.05). The effect of TXLC was better than that of composite Danshen tablet. TXLC is an effective drug for UAP treatment, which could efficiently regulate the ET and CGRP metabolism and ameliorate the degree of myocardial ischemia damage.
