How to Complete Supply Chain Integration and Improve Supply Chain Performance Through Relationship Governance in the Digital Age

In the process of manufacturing supply chain development, because appropriate governance mechanisms are lacking, manufacturing supply chain stability, integration and other aspects face many challenges. Such as opportunism, “free riding” and data leakage affect supply chain development. Thus, many manufacturing firms are adopting supply chain relationship governance (SCRG) as a strategic to enhance performance. Using data collected from a survey of 295 manufacturing firms, this paper confirms the influence of SCRG on supply chain performance (SCP). The mediating effect of supply chain integration (SCI) and the moderating effect of digital capabilities (DCs) are explored. The results show that SCRG has a beneficial effect on SCP. SCI plays a partial mediating role in SCRG and SCP. DCs positively moderate the relationship between SCRG and SCI. This study is one of the first to explore the role of DCs in the relationship between supply chain partners and the impact on performance. It provides fresh perspectives and real-world evidence for determining the importance of SCRG strategies.

Last-mile distribution and commodity availability, security and access: the moderating role of supply chain integration

PurposeThis study investigated the relationship between last-mile distribution or delivery (LMD) and commodity access through the mediating role of commodity availability and commodity security and the moderating effect of supply chain integration (SCI).Design/methodology/approachThe study adopted the survey research design and employed the questionnaire instrument in collecting primary data from respondents in Eastern Regional Health Institutions in Ghana. The total number of valid responses received was 204. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) approach was adopted to analyze the relationship between the study variables.FindingsThe findings showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between LMD and commodity availability as well as LMD and commodity security. Moreover, while the relationship between commodity availability and commodity access is positive and significant, that between commodity security and commodity access is positive but insignificant. Furthermore, there is a positive and statistically significant relationship between LMD and commodity access. The study discovered that the interaction between LMD and commodity access is insignificant and negatively affected by SCI.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors' knowledge, no previous studies have empirically verified the effect of LMD on commodity access in the presence of mediating factors such as commodity availability and commodity security and SCI as the moderating factors.

Reduce supply chain financing risks through supply chain integration: dual approaches of alleviating information asymmetry and mitigating supply chain risks

PurposeInformation asymmetry and poor solvency caused by uncertainties in supply chains are the root causes of supply chain financing risks (SCFR). The purpose of this paper is to explore the effect of supply chain integration on reducing SCFR by incorporating the mechanisms of information sharing and controlling supply chain risks (SCR).Design/methodology/approachThis paper proposes hypothesis to discuss the impact of integration on SCFR and the mediating roles of alleviating information asymmetry and mitigating SCR, aiming at discovering factors and mechanisms to reduce SCFR. The research model was validated by applying structural equation modeling on survey data from 321 Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).FindingsIntegration significantly reduces SCFR by dual approaches of information sharing and mitigating SCR, confirming that alleviating information asymmetry to reach information transparency and controlling SCR to reduce uncertainties facilitate less SCFR.Research limitations/implicationsSMEs should enhance integration capability to reduce SCFR as it greatly influences the evaluation of financial service providers on SMEs and the sustainable financing capacity of SMEs. Additionally, any other methods that can improve information sharing and reduce SCR should be attached if possible.Originality/valueThis study represents a pioneering attempt to analyze the impact of integration on reducing SCFR by exploring the specific mechanisms of alleviating information asymmetry and mitigating SCR. Meanwhile, few prior empirical studies have highlighted the importance of SCFR.

The Effect of Orientation Strategy on Logistics Performance with Supply Chain Integration as a Mediation Variable

Ports have a big role in the logistics system. Because at the port various logistics activities occur such as transportation activities, loading, and unloading of goods, inspection, storage, and so on. So the performance of the port plays an important role in the speed of delivery of logistics goods. Furthermore, for the transportation of logistics goods, trucking is one of the options that can be chosen to deliver goods from the port to the customer. The process of shipping logistics goods by trucking begins with the pick-up of goods at the port by a predetermined truck. After that, the truck will take the goods to the destination address specified by the customer. This study aims to examine how the influence of supply chain orientation on logistics performance through supply chain integration as an intervening variable, a research study was conducted on manufacturing companies engaged in consumer goods processing services that use coal transportation services. The research method used in this study is quantitative using data collection techniques, observation, surveys, and primary data analysis. The survey is conducted by giving questionnaires or interviews to respondents to collect data on the variables studied. The research sample was 135 samples as owners or managers in manufacturing companies engaged in consumer goods processing services that use goods transportation services at the port of Central Java. Research analysis tools using AMOS 22.00 software with the SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) method. The results showed that there was a significant influence of supply chain orientation on logistics performance with a p-value of 0.036 and a CR value of 2.092 (can receive H1). There is a significant positive influence of supply chain orientation on supply chain integration with a p-value of 0.009 and a CR value of 2.625 (can accept H2). There is a significant effect of supply chain integration on logistics performance with a p-value of 0.015 and a CR value of 2.441 (can accept H3).

The effects of digital technology application and supply chain management on corporate circular economy: A dynamic capability view

Developing circular economy capability has emerged as an effective response to environmental pressures on firms. The proliferation of digital technology has created uncertainty in developing corporate circular economy capability. Although research has begun to focus on the impact of digital technology application on corporate circular economy capability, empirical evidence remains absent. Simultaneously, few studies have concerned corporate circular economy capability obtained from supply chain management. The answer to the correlation between digital technology application, supply chain management, and circular economy capability is unavailable in current research. Based on a dynamic capability view, we investigate how digital technology application affects corporate circular economy capability through supply chain management regarding supply chain risk management, collaboration, and integration. This underlying mechanism was verified with 486 Chinese-listed industrial firms and the mediating model. The findings demonstrate that digital technology application and supply chain management significantly affect corporate circular economy capability. The mediating channel whereby the digital technology application provides circular economy capability can facilitate the positive impact of supply chain risk management and collaboration while undermining the adverse effects of supply chain integration. These mediating channels differentiate in heterogeneous growth firms and are more pronounced in low-growth groups. It presents an opportunity to use digital technology to reinforce the positive impact of supply chain risk management and collaboration and mitigate the negative effect of supply chain integration on circular economy capability.

The Effect of Supply Chain Integration on Operational Performance and Product Quality

PT XYZ Indonesia is a company that has shown outstanding business performance in the last three years, and it has grown yearly. A study was conducted by distributing 40 questionnaires that became samples of company employees with work relationships and knowledge of supply chain integration, operational performance, and product quality to test these hypotheses. Furthermore, the data were analyzed with an SEM tool to test the causality relationship of the research variables. The theoretical evidence showed that product quality is positively influenced by supply chain integration for this type of company's business field. The managerial implications are to pay more attention to supply chain integration which greatly affects the company's operational performance. Meanwhile, some limitations in this study can be found at the end of the discussion.

Drivers of environmental sustainability: environmental capabilities and supply chain integration

PurposeThis paper examines the moderating effect of environmental capability development on the relationship between supply chain integration and both environmental and financial performance.Design/methodology/approachThe authors use empirical data collected from three diverse sources in the horticultural marketing sector. A total of 97 responses were used. An ordered logit analysis and ordinary least squares (OLS) regression were employed to test the hypotheses.FindingsThe results confirm that firm environmental capability development enhances the effects of supply chain integration on firm environmental performance. Additionally, supplier integration and environmental capabilities may be considered firm strategic capabilities that are positively related to financial performance. Thus, public policies should encourage the development of firms' individual environmental capabilities and supply chain integration to improve environmental sustainability.Originality/valueThis study recognizes the importance of environmental capability development as a strategic objective and its fundamental role as a complementary capability with supply chain integration. This paper contributes by empirically analyzing how firms along the supply chain can promote environmental sustainability through the development of environmental and integration capabilities.

Highlight risk management in supply chain finance: effects of supply chain risk management capabilities on financing performance of small-medium enterprises

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to explore the important role of supply chain risk management (SCRM) capabilities as pre-factors for SMEs to improve supply chain financing performance (SCFP), also incorporating the effect of supply chain integration (SCI).Design/methodology/approachFrom the intersection of SCRM and SCF literature, this paper proposed hypothesis to discuss the impact of SCRM capabilities on SCFP and the role of SCI, aiming at combine SCRM with supply chain financing management. The research model was validated applying structural equation modeling on survey data from 286 Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).FindingsFour dimensions of SCRM capabilities have significant positive effects on SCFP with different significant levels, confirming that they are important pre-factors in supply chain finance (SCF). In addition, the impact of SCRM capabilities on SCFP differ when SCI varies, indicating the promoting effect of SCI.Practical implicationsSMEs should establish SCRM capabilities as supply chain risks greatly influence the evaluation of financial providers and the achievement of SCF. Meanwhile, SCI should be attached for it enables superior SCFP even if SCRM capabilities are relatively limited.Originality/valueThis study represents a pioneering attempt to analyze the pre-factors of SMEs in improving SCFP by combing SCRM with SCF management. Few prior studies have highlighted the importance of SCRM in SCF.

The purpose of this study is to explain the effect of supply chain integration on company performance mediated by government policies in strengthening macro and micro economies. The approach used in this research is the quantitative method. Where is the population of 5 nickel mining companies in Sulawesi, represented by 500 employees. From the total population, samples were then taken using the Slovin formula with a margin of error of 5 percent totaling 222 employees. Of these, 200 questionnaires returned with valid conditions. Smart PLS 3 was used to analyze the research data. The results of the research show that the supply chain has a significant effect on the company's performance. Improved company performance strengthened by government policies so as to increase the company's profitability significantly .

Supply Chain Integration and Its Impact on Operating Performance: Evidence from Chinese Online Companies

The present study explores the effect of supply chain integration on the operational performance of an internet-based online business based in China. The study is based on primary data collected through a questionnaire distributed to supply chain professionals of the stated companies. After distributing the questionnaire and collecting the responses, an exploratory factor analysis is conducted to validate the instrument. Afterward, the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) analysis is conducted, and finally, the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique is used to determine the validity of the research hypotheses. The results indicate that integrating different aspects of the supply chain positively impacts the operating performance, improving the financial performance of the companies involved in the integration process.

ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT OF PRACTICE AND SUPPLY CHAIN INTEGRATION ON OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF SMEs IN MALANG CITY

<p>This study was conducted to evaluate the practice of implementing Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Supply chain Integration (SCI) on operational performance in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Malang City. This study aims to determine the effect of SCM practices on supply chain integration, the effect of SCM on operational performance, and the effect of supply chain integration on operational performance. Data collection in this study was carried out by distributing 100 questionnaires to owners or managers of SMEs in Malang City which the criteria are food and beverage agro-industry SMEs located in Malang City and have carried out supply chain management (SCM) activities for at least 1 year. The analytical method used in testing the research hypothesis is using multiple regression. The results of the study found that 1) there is a positive influence of supply chain management practices on operational performance, 2) there is a negative influence of supply chain integration on operational performance, 3) supply chain management practices and supply chain integration simultaneously have a positive effect on operational performance in SMEs in the Malang City.</p>

Impact of information and communications technology alignment on supply chain performance in the Industry 4.0 era: mediation effect of supply chain integration

ABSTRACT With the advent of the Industry 4.0 era, the manufacturing industry realizes the importance of developing information and communications technology (ICT). Based on organizational information processing theory and resource-based view, this study constructs the conceptual model with the framework of “information-integration-performance,” uses survey data from Chinese manufacturing enterprises, and investigates the impact of ICT alignment on supply chain performance using a structural equation model with supply chain integration as the mediation variable. The study found that ICT alignment has no direct effect on supply chain performance, but its indirect effect is significant under the mediation effect of supply chain integration. In the relationship between supply chain integration and financial performance, operational performance plays a good mediation effect. These findings help companies to implement Industry 4.0 and ICT strategies that apply ICT alignment rationally and innovatively to ensure good organizational operations and improve supply chain performance.

Mediating effect of Supply Chain Integration on the Relationship between Continuous Improvement and Innovation and Operational Performance in the Ghana Cocoa Supply Chain

Although the importance of continuous improvement and innovation as an antecedent of supply chain management practices (SCMPs) has been recognized, how it affects the operational performance in the Ghana cocoa industry remains unclear. This paper aims to establish the mediating effect of supply chain integration on the relationship between continuous improvement and innovation and operational performance in Ghana's cocoa supply chain. This conceptual paper recommends an inclusive model that incorporates continuous improvement and innovation, supply chain integration as well as operational performance, underpinned by resourced based view theory. The proposed model is to establish the direct and indirect effects of continuous improvement and innovation as an antecedent of supply chain management practices on operational performance through the influence of supply chain integration in the cocoa context, leading to improvement in the business operational performance. This study will contribute to the literature by empirically examining the interface between continuous improvement and innovation, supply chain integration and operational performance, with supply chain integration serving as a predictive variable.

Supply Chain Integration and Manufacturing Firm Performance in Emerging Economies: The Case of Ghana

Supply Chain Integration has increasingly become important among manufacturing firms especially in developing economies. The poor integration of processes and partners in the supply chain may lead to poor operational performance of manufacturing firms. The study assessed the effect of supply chain integration on the performance of manufacturing firms in Ghana with Business process outcome as a mediating variable. The study adopted the descriptive cross-sectional research design where data was collected from 200 supply chain and procurement managers in manufacturing firms in Accra and Kumasi. The data was analysed using multiple regression analysis using SPSS 25. The result of the study shows that a weak positive correlation exists between Supply Chain Integration and Organizational Performance which was statistically significant. The results of the regression model shows that there is a weak positive linear relationship between supply chain integration and business process outcome. The study further indicated that there is a partial mediation of business process outcome on the effect of Supply chain Integration on Performance. The findings of this study demonstrate the value of implementing integration of the supply chain in a manufacturing firm as integration of the supply chain can be a source of competitive advantage leading to superior success by enhancing operational efficiency of the firm. Managers of manufacturing firms in Ghana are expected to consider supply chain integration as a one corporate objective in order to excel in their operational performance through providing quality customer service, quality products, reduction of cost to meet market demand in a flexible manner. Investigating the relationship between digital technologies, supply chain integration and firm resilience in the context of COVID-19.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly augmented the complexity of information, adding to the challenges that firms face in effectively processing and grasping accurate information. As a result, the production uncertainty of firms has been seriously intensified during the pandemic, disrupting the normal operation of firms and their supply chains. Digital technologies serve as salient tools that help firms to process and analyse information, consequently enhancing firm resilience in the face of supply chain disruptions. This study aims to examine how digital technologies affect firm resilience in the context of COVID-19 through the lens of information processing theory and a large-scale survey conducted among Chinese manufacturers. Specifically, our study evaluates the mediating effect of supply chain integration (internal integration, customer integration and supplier integration) and the moderating effect of information complexity. The results show that supply chain integration plays a mediating role in the effect of digital technologies on firm resilience, and the mediation effect is particularly significant for customer integration. Furthermore, digital technologies have a stronger impact on firm resilience when information complexity is high. The findings advance our understanding and recognition of the resilience implications of digital technologies and provide important managerial implications for improving firm resilience in the context of COVID-19.

Green innovations, supply chain integration and green information system: A model of moderation

Building on the theory of information processing, this study investigates the moderation effect of green information system in shaping the impacts of supplier integration and customer orientation on green innovation. This study uses survey data (231 sample firms) to empirically test the proposed conceptual model. The results from the structural equation modeling estimation confirm the important role of supply chain integration in improving organizational green innovations. More importantly, the positive effects of supply chain integration, i.e., supplier integration and customer orientation, are more significant when aligned with an effective green information system. This study contributes to the literature by studying the moderation effect of green information system in improving the effect of supply chain integration on green innovations and provides a guideline for practitioners to invest in green information systems to facilitate smooth communication and information sharing across the supply chain for green innovations.

Understanding the role of organisation culture and supply chain integration in supply chain performance

The volatility in business environment and severe market dynamism creates astounding challenges for business leaders to stay competitive in market whereas globalisation in supply chain has highlighted the importance of understanding cultural practices and factors. Hence, cultural alignment and understanding among the supply chain partners is emerged as one of the key predictors that influence the effectiveness of supply chain integration (SCI). The role of the organisational culture comprised of four dimensions, which has been conceptualised as on a competing value framework (CVF) in supply chain performance, and is evaluated on a SCOR model. The study encompasses survey methodology and the data was collected from 250 supply chain professionals working in various manufacturing companies operating in Karachi, Pakistan. By partial least square-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM), the results of the study highlights that organisation culture has a positive and significant impact on the SCI and in the same SCI has a positive and significant impact on supply chain performance. This research helps the manager to know what kinds of decisions are required in order to improve the performance of supply chain in a developing market. Moreover, it also helps the managers to know that what type of culture is beneficial for the firm's growth.
