Spatial and temporal differentiation and coupling analysis of land use change and ecosystem service value in Jiangsu Province

A detailed exploration of the nexus between land use change (LUC) and ecosystem service value (ESV) at the urban level is crucial for fostering high-quality urban economic growth alongside the sustainable management of land resources. This study focuses on Jiangsu Province, employing an enhanced and refined ESV assessment model to perform a dynamic examination of the spatial and temporal variations in land use and ESV across the region from 2000 to 2020. Additionally, it delves into the intricate coupled coordination dynamics between land use intensity and ESV by developing a coupled coordination model. Key findings include: (1) Jiangsu Province experienced notable land use transformations over the two decades, with a marked reduction in cropland and a significant expansion of construction sites being the most prominent shifts. (2) The ESV in Jiangsu Province has exhibited fluctuating trends over the past 20 years, with water bodies and agricultural lands serving as the cornerstone for the province's ESV. Areas with high ESV are predominantly located around the Yangtze River's water bodies, along the coastline, and around lakes and radiate outward from these aquatic centers. (3) The coupling between LUC and ESV in Jiangsu Province has been upward, albeit with pronounced city disparities. This coupling displays distinct spatial patterns, characterized by higher levels in the east and lower levels in the west, as well as higher levels in the north and lower levels in the south. The outcomes of this analysis offer valuable insights and policy recommendations for enhancing land use planning, refining land use configurations, and promoting the synergistic development of land use and ecosystem service functions in Jiangsu Province.

Estimation of the Ecosystem Service Value of the Yellow River Delta-Laizhou Bay Coastal Zone Considering Regional Differences and Social Development.

With economic and societal development, the ecological environment of the Yellow River Delta-Laizhou Bay coastal zone has been seriously damaged. Exploring the changes in land use and ecosystem service value (ESV) is essential to ecological construction of the region. The random forest classification method was used for land cover interpretation of the four periods of remote sensing images in the study area from 1990 to 2020. Newly calculated regional difference coefficients and social development coefficients were used to construct a dynamic ESV assessment model and to study its changes from overall and sea‒land gradient perspectives. The results showed that construction land, salt pans, aquaculture ponds, and inland water masses expanded rapidly, while cropland, tidal flats, and shallow waters shrank sharply over the past 30 years. The ESV in the study area has continued to decrease from 34.47 billion yuan in 1990 to 25.23 billion yuan in 2020, a total decrease of 9.23 billion yuan. This is mostly due to the encroachment of construction land, salt pans, and aquaculture ponds, and the flow of ecosystem services from high-value land cover types (tidal flats, herbaceous wetlands, and cropland) to medium- and low-value land cover types. Moreover, the land cover transfer and ESVs exhibited a decreasing trend from sea to land, with significant sea-land gradient differences. Land conversion is most common in the 0-15 km coastal zone, mainly from natural wetlands to artificial wetlands, where the ESV also decreases rapidly. Considering the regional differences and social development in this paper, the ESV of small-scale areas can be reasonably evaluated to explore the characteristics and causes of changes in land use and ESVs, which can provide an important reference for ecological protection and land use management in the region.

Ecosystem Service Value Assessment of the Yellow River Delta Based on Satellite Remote Sensing Data

The Yellow River Delta (YRD) stands as a globally significant wetland, playing a pivotal role in sustaining regional ecosystem stability and offering crucial ecosystem services to humanity. However, anthropogenic activities, particularly resource development, unavoidably disrupt the ecosystem, leading to the degradation of these vital services. Utilizing satellite remote sensing data, the InVEST model, and energy analysis, this study introduces the concept of ‘emergy’ as an ‘intermediate variable’ to investigate the spatiotemporal changes in the ecosystem service value of the YRD. Five distinct types of ecosystem services are selected for quantitative assessment and analysis of the YRD’s spatiotemporal evolution from 1990 to 2020. Results indicate a 63.7% decline in the total value of ecosystem services from 1990 to 2010, followed by a 16.5% increase from 2010 to 2020. The study also unveils spatial shifts in high- and low-value areas of ecosystem services and attributes these changes to rapid urbanization and alterations in land use and cover. The assessment of ecosystem service values concretizes the intangible ecosystem service functions of natural resources. This lays the foundation for establishing a mechanism that combines positive incentives and reverse pressure to achieve the economic valuation of ecosystem service.

Coupling of leaf economic and hydraulic traits of desert plants of different life forms in the Ebinur Lake Basin

The functional traits of leaves and their internal trade-offs have been the focus of ecologists as a powerful basis for revealing plant physiology and function, and ecological strategies. The consistency of the coupled relationship between leaf economic traits and hydraulic traits among trees, shrubs, and herbs in similar ecological environments has seldom been systematically explored. We explored coupling in desert plants of different life forms and their response to the soil environment in two tree species (Populus euphratica Oliv. and Haloxylon ammodendron (C. A. Mey.) Bunge)), the shrub species (Nitraria tangutorum Bobrov and Halimodendron halodendron (Pall.) Dum. Cours.), and herbaceous species (Alhagi sparsifolia Shap. and Apocynum venetum L.) in the transition zone of the desert in the Ebinur Lake Basin, Xinjiang, China. Leaf and soil samples were collected to determine plant leaf economic traits, hydraulic traits, and soil factors. Regarding leaf economic traits, trees had higher in leaf mass per area and leaf thickness (LT). The leaf nitrogen and phosphorus contents were higher in shurbs than those in trees and herbs. Regarding hydraulic traits, shrubs had higher palisade parenchyma thickness (PT) and vein density (VD), whereas herbs had higher stomatal length (SL), spongy parenchyma thickness (ST), and leaf water potential (Ψ). In herbs, SL, ST, and Ψ had advantages, whereas PT/ST was the lowest. This study revealed an association between leaf economic and hydraulic traits in plants of different life forms in a similar ecological environment and provides a scientific basis for plant conservation strategies and ecosystem services value assessment and use in arid zones.

Investigating the spatio-temporal interactive relationship between land use structure and ecosystem services in urbanizing China

The negative impacts of urbanization-triggered land use changes on ecosystem services have attracted worldwide attention. However, the interactive relationships between land use structure and ecosystem services remain unclear, which is not conducive to sustainable regional ecological management. This study employed the information entropy and ecosystem services value assessment method to measure the land use structure and ecosystem services at the county level in China between 2000 and 2020, respectively. Then the spatial correlation analysis and decoupling model were used to explore the spatial and temporal interactive relationships between them, respectively. The results indicated that the average information entropy of land use structure (IELUS) and total ecosystem services value (ESV) in China both showed a continuous growth trend during the study period. ESV and IELUS were found to have a significant positive spatial correlation and were dominated by low-value agglomeration. The dominant types of the interactive relationship between IELUS and ESV were strong decoupling and expansion negative decoupling, and the number of counties with expansion negative decoupling decreased rapidly during the study period. These results suggest that differentiated land-use structure management policies ought to be adopted to protect regional ecosystem services.

Study on the Trade-Offs of Land Functions in the Central Plain of China for Sustainable Development

Properly managing the relationship between food security, ecological protection, and urbanization, and coordinating the trade-offs among these three factors for land demand are extremely important for environmental management and sustainable development. In this study, we attempt to analyze the state of land use trade-offs from a dynamic perspective in terms of both potential and efficiency. We have innovatively proposed a new land use trade-off analysis framework integrating the Estimation System for Land Productivity (ESLP) model, machine learning algorithms, ecosystem service value assessment, and spatial analysis method. By applying the framework, the potential and efficiency of the three land use functions of urban development, ecological protection, and agricultural production on the Huang-Huai-Hai (HHH) Plain were comprehensively estimated, and the trade-off relationship between the three land use functions was identified. The results showed a prominent conflict between urban development and agricultural production (around 8%) on the HHH Plain, especially in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei urban agglomeration and the southern Jiangsu urban agglomeration. In the mountainous areas, such as northern Hebei and central Shandong, there was an obvious trade-off between ecological land and agriculture land. Most cities had a trade-off between ecological land and urban land (approximately 6% of the study area), but it was relatively more relaxed in comparison. Finally, we found that on the HHH Plain, where land resources are fiercely competitive, spatial planning and land resource control depend not only on the suitability or potential of the land unit, but also on whether the efficiency of land use has reached an appropriate range. The smart way to use land resources is to scientifically trade-off different land use functions and improve the efficiency of land use to achieve maximum benefit.

A comparative analysis of ecosystem service valuation methods: Taking Beijing, China as a case

Ecosystem service value (ESV) is a crucial metric used to assess the well-being that ecosystems provide to human. However, a unified and standardized approach for accounting ESV is currently lacking. Further investigation is needed for cross-comparisons and empirical analyses using different methods. In this study, we quantified Beijing’s ESV from 2009 to 2018 using the equivalent value factor (EVF) method and the gross ecosystem product (GEP) method. This quantification illustrated the evolving ecological status of Beijing over the decade and highlighted the differences between the two methods. We analyzed the two approaches based on functional classification, accounting value, application scope, and changing patterns, uncovering significant disparities in their evaluation outcomes. The GEP method employs a wider range of indicators than those used by the EVF method. In 2018, the calculation results of the EVF and the GEP methods were 423.43 × 109 yuan and 493.83 × 109 yuan, respectively. The accounting results of the EVF method rose notably over the decade, while those of the GEP method fluctuated. The main causes of these disparities are that the EVF method is heavily influenced by dynamic equivalent factors and land uses, with an emphasis on the water equivalent factor, making it more suitable for natural ecosystem assessment. In contrast, the GEP method is affected by multiple factors and is more suitable for regions with high urbanization, like Beijing. This study underscores the importance of methodological considerations in ESV assessment, guiding the selection of accounting methods suitable for diverse scales and regions, thereby enhancing the scientific rigor of ecological protection decisions and facilitating coordinated regional ecological planning and economic development.

Ecosystem service value assessment in downtown for implementing the “Mountain-River-Forest-Cropland-Lake-Grassland system project”

The “Mountain-River-Forest-Cropland-Lake-Grassland System Project” has continuously improved the ecological environment of the region along the Yangtze River; however, there was little literature on quantitative analysis of the effects of the System Project. Ecosystem services value was first used to quantify the effects in the downtown Jiayu County and analyze the variation of ecosystem services value by the equivalent factor method between the 6 downtown Counties (Xianan, Chibi, Tongcheng, Chongyang, Tongshan, and Jiayu) of Xianning City along the Yangtze River for years 2000, 2010, and 2020. The results specify that: (1) The area of forest, grassland, wetland, and water body increased by 47.5%, 254%, 1165%, and 7.4% in downtown Jiayu, whereas the cropland and built-up decreased by 1.8% and 3.1%, respectively. (2) The mean change rate of the ecosystem services value for the 6 ecosystems in downtown Jiayu and Tongcheng was 3801% and 41% from 2000 to 2020, respectively, while the mean change rate of the ecosystem services value was about −42% in other downtowns. (3) The rate of ecosystem services value for the ecosystem services in downtown Jiayu decreased about 13% in the first 10 years and 9.7% in the second 10 years, while the rate of ecosystem services value for the ecosystem services decreased about 40% in other downtowns from 2000 to 2020. (4) The maximum sensitivity coefficient is 0.381 for the cropland ecosystem and 0.185 for the water regulation services. The system project has a positive effect on the ecosystem services value, increasing and quickly restoring the ecosystem services value of downtown County. Besides, the local government of Jiayu might obtain corresponding socio-economic benefits through ecosystem services value transactions.

Integrating landscape ecological risk into ecosystem service value assessment: A case study of Nanjing City, China

The scientific assessment of ecosystem service value (ESV) and landscape ecological risk (LER) is important for ecological security and sustainable development. However, existing studies often separate ESV and LER for a single evaluation, and the single evaluation is limited in guiding ecological conservation. Therefore, proposing an evaluation framework that integrates ESV and LER is urgent. Taking Nanjing City as an example, this study evaluated LER based on the risk evaluation cell and introduced it into ESV evaluation. Then, the influence of land use/land cover change on LER and ESV from 2000 to 2020 was analyzed. The results showed that built-up land and water body/wetland increased by 881.96 km2 and 41.41 km2, and farmland and forest land decreased by 875.46 km2 and 55.83 km2 from 2000 to 2020. The LER was low in the middle and high in the north and south. From 2000 to 2010, the LER increased from 0.67 to 0.68, and it then decreased to 0.61 in 2020. Medium-low risk regions decreased during 2000–2010, and low-risk regions increased and medium-high risk regions decreased during 2010–2020. The ESV increased by 0.77 billion United States dollars (USD) during 2000–2010 but decreased by 0.40 billion USD during 2010–2020. Under the impact of LER, the ESV per unit area of the farmland, forest land, and water body decreased during 2000–2020. The ESV of the water body dominated the total ESV and had an important influence on the change in total ESV. The ESV in Nanjing City during 2000–2020 mainly showed High-High autocorrelation and a few Low-High autocorrelations. Ecological restoration programs increased ESV during 2000–2010, but rapid urbanization reduced ESV during 2010–2020. Integrating social, economic, and ecological resources is necessary to realize the coordinated development of the economy and ecology. The results can provide an important reference for landscape planning and ecosystem management.

Integrating territorial pattern and socioeconomic development into ecosystem service value assessment

To clarify the intrinsic linkages and mechanisms between territorial pattern changes and ecosystem service value (ESV) changes in coastal areas, this study tried to integrate territorial pattern and socio-economic development into ESV assessment. Taking the Beibu Gulf area as a case study, we estimated and analyzed the ESV changes using the equivalent factor method. And we combined relative importance analysis and pathway analysis to elucidate the contributions of different drivers to ESV changes, establishing the link between territorial pattern changes and ESV changes. The results indicated that increased ESV during 2000–2020 were mainly located in the areas where environmental policies were implemented, while the largest ESV decreases were concentrated in the areas with urban expansion. ESV changes are closely related to territorial pattern changes. Population factors are the most important drivers of ESV changes, likely as a result of the rapidly growing population placing more pressure on land use, and causing multiple land changes that affect ESV. Moreover, the population dynamic factor, agriculture production factor, tourism output factor and tourism equipment factor all contributed to increasing the ESV of regional ecosystems, while the population size factor, population structure factor and economic production factor reduced the ESV to some extent. In conclusion, economic development, population growth and ecological engineering implementation were the key factors influencing ESV changes by changing the territorial pattern. Therefore, appropriate land use policies could balance ecological protection and economic development to maximize human benefits acquired from ecosystems. Moreover, we proposed ecosystem management and landscape planning for typical land use types (i.e., forestland, farmland, orchards and water bodies) in the Beibu Gulf to improve the ESV and provide a reference for coastal areas.

Spatiotemporal differentiation and the coupling analysis of ecosystem service value with land use change in Hubei Province, China

Rapid urbanization has exacerbated land use transformation, which in turn has affected ecosystem service value (ESV). Clarifying the spatial association between land use change (LUC) and ESV is of relevance to the development of policies for sustainable land development and ecosystem service (ES) management. In this paper, taking Hubei Province as an example, the biomass coefficient, resource scarcity coefficient and socioeconomic adjustment coefficient are introduced to improve the ESV assessment model, and then the spatiotemporal dynamics of land use and ESV from 2000 to 2020 are analyzed. Furthermore, the coupling coordination degree (CCD) between land use intensity and ESV was explored through a CCD model. The results show that (1) land use in Hubei Province changed significantly from 2000 to 2020, mainly in cropland and built-up land. (2) The change in ESV showed a fluctuating upward trend, with an increase of 71.30%, and the spatial differences generally decreased, showing a spatial pattern of “low in the center and high in the surroundings”. (3) All individual ESVs first decreased and then increased, with regulating services and supporting services contributing more to ESV and hydrological regulation, maintenance of biodiversity and soil conservation being the top three ecosystem functions with high service value. (4) The CCD between ESV and land use intensity in Hubei Province and its cities (prefecture and forest area) decreased and then increased, being at the lowest and highest values in 2005 and 2020, respectively. This paper revealed the spatiotemporal evolution process of LUC and ESV in Hubei Province and their coupling coordinated relationship, which can provide effective guidance for the formulation of interzonal ES maintenance policies to reconcile the conflicts between land use and ecosystem management.

Study on extra services of integrated agricultural landscapes: A case study conducted on the Coastal Bench Terrace System

The unit area value-based method has been widely used in ecosystem service value assessment research. This method assumes that the area of landscape elements and their ecosystem service values are linearly related. However, the landscape pattern will have a greater impact on the ecosystem services of the whole landscape. This research proposes the concept of “extra services” and takes the Coastal Bench Terrace System, which is a potential agricultural heritage system, as the research object. We evaluated the ecosystem services value of its landscape elements and the ecosystem service value of the whole landscape to judge whether there were extra services in the agricultural landscape. The results show the following: (1) The total ecosystem service value of the Coastal Bench Terrace System was 1.512 billion CNY.11Chinese currency, 1USD = 7.2488 CNY, Access data: September 28, 2022. (2) The ecosystem service value of farmland ecosystems was 603 million CNY. The ecosystem service value of aquatic ecosystems was 826 million CNY. (3) There are extra services in the Coastal Bench Terrace System. Its value was 83 million CNY, accounting for 5.5% of the total value. The research shows that the ecosystem service value of landscape elements and the area of landscape elements may not be purely linear, and these results can provide a reference for landscape ecosystem service value evaluation research.

Ecosystem Service Value Evolution and Security Pattern Optimization in Huaihai Economic Zone

The ecological and environmental effects caused by land use change have attracted global attention. Huaihai Economic Zone, as the core of the Huaihe River ecological economic belt, has experienced a reciprocal evolution of land use, ecological security and regional economic development. Based on multi-stage land use data extracted by Google Earth Engine (GEE), the spatio-temporal differentiation characteristics of ecosystem service value (ESV) evolution in Huaihai Economic Zone from 1998 to 2018 were analyzed with the help of ESV assessment and a minimum accumulated resistance model (MCR), and the regional ecological security pattern (ESP) was optimized. The results show that ESV intensity has obvious spatial differentiation, which is higher in northeastern China and lower in southwestern China. The median ESV area accounted for the largest proportion, while the high and low ESV areas accounted for a small proportion. The characteristics of EVS temporal and spatial differentiation show decreasing and increasing grades. From the perspective of development period, the ESV grade changes show a positive trend. In the optimization of the ecological security pattern, 26 important ecological sources, 22 main landscape ecological corridors, and 65 ecological strategic nodes were optimized and identified, and the middle-level ecological security zone accounted for the largest proportion. The main reasons for the changes in the ESV and ESP are closely related to the changes in local natural resources and the changes and adjustments in government protection policies. These research results can provide a reference for inter-provincial territorial space protection and the formulation of a sustainable development strategy.

Spatiotemporal Variations of Grassland Ecosystem Service Value and Its Influencing Factors in Inner Mongolia, China

The services provided by grassland ecosystems are important and irreplaceable in maintaining the balance and stability of ecosystems. The spatiotemporal variations of grassland ecosystem service value (ESV) and its influencing factors in Inner Mongolia from 2000 to 2019 were studied in this paper. Based on the socio-economic data, remote sensing data, geographic data, and meteorological data, a dynamic ESV assessment method based on the equivalent factors was used to calculate the grassland ESV for each year. The spatiotemporal dynamic variation and future trend of grassland ESV were studied by coefficient of variation index (CV), Theil–Sen median trend analysis, Mann–Kendall test, and Hurst index, and the Geodetector was used to determine the main factors affecting the distribution of ESV. The results indicated that (1) the annual average grassland ESV of Inner Mongolia was higher in the northeast than in southwest, the average ESV was 2.0794 million CNY/km2, and the pixels were concentrated from 1 to 3 million CNY/km2, accounting for 75.46% of the study area; (2) during the study period, the average grassland ESV increased slowly with time at an annual growth rate of 0.2, and the total ESV decreased first and then increased with the change in grassland area; (3) the average volatility was 0.16, and pixels with CV values between 0.1 and 0.2 accounted for 69.2% of the study area, indicating the fluctuation of ESV was relatively stable during the study period; (4) 37.16% of the grassland ESV in Inner Mongolia decreased slightly and 41.77% increased slightly during these years, and the two parts showed opposite trends in the future; and (5) the single factor influencing the spatial distribution of grassland ESV was mainly normalized vegetation index (NDVI) and precipitation, and the multi-factor interactions were NDVI∩slope and NDVI∩precipitation. All influencing factors exhibited a stronger impact through the two-factor interaction. This study can provide reference values for the policymaking of natural resource conservation or restoration.

Research on the Value of Land Ecological Service in Yunnan Province Based on the Perspective of Spatial Pattern

(1) Background: Ecosystem service value assessment is a trending area of sustainable development research and ecological civilization construction. Ecosystems provide supply, regulation, support, and cultural services, and the value assessment of ecosystem services is helpful for people to understand the importance of natural ecosystems to production and life. Based on the insufficiency of the current research on the value of land ecological services, this paper discusses the research direction of the evaluation of the value of ecosystem services in the future, provides a reference for the evaluation of the value of ecosystem services, and promotes multi-scale and multi-directional research experiments on the value of land ecological services. (2) In this paper, the basic information data are obtained through the interpretation of remote sensing images, and the value equivalent factor is corrected according to the average grain yield per unit area and grain price data in 2000, 2010, and 2020 to calculate the land ecological service value. The relevant data obtained by processing the ecological service value are classified into different levels to discuss the changes and trends of 129 county-level administrative units in three periods and analyze the quantitative and spatial variation characteristics of the ecological service value of 129 county-level administrative units. The paper studies the spatial agglomeration state of the total value of ecological services and finds the hotspot areas of the land ecological service value in the study area. (3) During the study period, great changes have taken place in the land use pattern of Yunnan Province, with the area of construction land expanding and the area of wetland decreasing. The ecological service value level of 129 county-level administrative units is relatively stable. The total value of each service is ranked as soil formation and protection > gas regulation > water conservation > biodiversity protection > climate regulation > raw materials > waste treatment > entertainment culture > food production. In the three periods, Shangri-La City has the highest value of ecological services per unit of land and Wuhua District has the lowest. The value of ecological services per unit of land in 129 county-level administrative units continues to rise. The areas with high average values are mainly in western Yunnan, southwestern Yunnan, southern Yunnan, and southeastern Yunnan. (4) The development speed of land ecological service value in Yunnan Province is far less than the development speed of GDP. There is still a lot of room for the development of ecological service value in Yunnan Province. The economic influence of Kunming is radiating to various cities through expressways and high-speed railways. The spatial distribution of land ecological service value in Yunnan Province has a strong correlation, showing a pattern of spatial agglomeration distribution, and the clustered areas are very stable.

Evaluation and evolution analysis of water ecosystem service value in the yangtze river delta region based on meta-analysis

Rapid economic development, industrialization and urbanization lead to environmental pollution and damage the stability of regional ecosystems. The Yangtze River Delta region is an economically developed region in China, faces the problems of water environment pollution and water ecosystem service degradation. Reasonable assessment of water ecosystem service value (ESV) is of great significance for grasping the status of regional water ecosystem services, improving water ecological environment, and realizing regional sustainable development. This study collects 119 research literature about China, including 156 observations to establish a value transfer database; specially builds a Meta-analysis model including the variables of climate conditions, environmental pollution and environmental protection, then assesses the waters ESV in the Yangtze River Delta using the model and analyzes the changes from 2009 to 2018. The study finds that the location, population density, the area of the site, average annual precipitation, literature characteristics, landscape characteristics, wastewater discharge, environmental protection expenditure, and wastewater treatment costs can affect the water ESV significantly. Based on the meta-analysis benefit transfer model to evaluate the water ESV in Yangtze River Delta region is RMB 177,126 yuan/ hha/year and the growth rate is 27.18%. The place with the highest value per unit area is Shanghai, and the total value in Jiangsu Province is the highest. Economic development, waste water discharge and wastewater treatment costs are the main reasons for the changes and differences in the value of water ecosystem services in the Yangtze River Delta region. The contribution of this study to the field of water ESV assessment is that the meta-analysis model includes a broader set of influencing variables, including landscape, population density, climate change and environmental protection. It provides a practical reference for water ESV assessment on the local scale and a scientific basis for water area management related to the development of water area and ecological compensation, as well as promote the sustainable development of water ecosystems.

CALCULATING AND ANALYZING OF ECOSYSTEM SERVICE VALUE WITH BIG DATA BASED ON HIGH RESOLUTION LAND COVER INFORMATION

Abstract. With the development of economics and society, the degradation of natural resources and environment is aggravated globally. The values of ecological environment and ecosystem service have been paid more and more attention popularly. However, the spatial-temporal changes in ecosystem service value (ESV) and their hotspots in China are not well understood. Chinese government has integrated the construction of ecological civilization into all aspects and processes of economic construction, political construction, culture construction and social construction, and clearly puts forward that we should establish the concept of natural value and natural capital, also natural ecosystem is valuable. During 2012 to 2021, an important project of China's First National Geographic Conditions Census and Continuously Monitoring had been completed by Chinese government. In this project, high resolution land cover product all over the country had been generated, and would be updated continuously every year. This achievement had received more and more attention, which brought the possibility of big data computing. A calculating method of land’s ecosystem service value was proposed by using this achievement. The characters of data type, data time phase, and data structure for all the remote sensing information was analyzed. Based on this, a revised ecosystem service value assessment model was used for calculating. Combining the standard of terrestrial ecosystem in China and the equivalent value factor per unit ecosystem area, the specific calculating algorithm based on the big data was designed. Wuhan city, Hubei province, China was selected as the study area for validating the calculating method. The results showed that the total ecosystem service value in Wuhan city in 2015 was 9.42×1010 CNY, and the per capita ecosystem service value was 1.15×104 CNY. Specially, water supplied the most ecosystem service value which accounted for 79.95%, followed by forest, grassland, farmland, and desert. The research shows that high-precision quantification and spatialization ecosystem service value can be calculated and obtained by using the high resolution land cover product obtained in the project of China's First National Geographic Conditions Census and Continuously Monitoring; the independent research and development software has solved the problem of software requirements, and the operational efficiency and performance can meet the calculating needs; the big data calculating algorithm has solved the problems of design and computation of structured and unstructured big data computing models; The results of this study will help to maintain the sustainable development of an area, and supporting more effective decision-making around the implementation of ecological conservation policies.

Impact of Land Transition on Landscape and Ecosystem Service Value in Northeast Region of China from 2000–2020

Drastic land pattern change has taken place in the northeast region of China, which may have a significant impact on landscape and ecosystem service. Up to now, insufficient renewal of land use patterns may limit the latest assessment of landscape transition and ecosystem service value. Meanwhile, the adaptive ecosystem service value improvement method should be established. To solve this issue, the integrated methodology of land-use change monitoring—landscape analysis—the promoted ecosystem service measurement is established. Results show that: (1) New evidence is observed that the cultivated land in Northeast China has been reduced, with 309,610.33 km2 in 2010 and 309,417.52 km2 in 2020, showing a net change area of −192.82 km2. This is the opposite of the increase of cultivated land compared to the past. (2) Shannon’s diversity index displays an upward trend, with the richer landscape types and higher fragmentation in the whole region. In addition, the contagion index reduced, with a total decrease of 1.93, indicating that the patches distribute intermittently and the agglomeration degree of these patches is weakened. (3) More precise ecosystem service value is assessed, from 2868.39 billion yuan in 2000 to 2814.06 billion yuan in 2020, and the hydrological regulation, climate regulation, and soil conservation play a dominant role in these functions in 2020. The spatial pattern of ecosystem service value is high-rank in the Northwest and Southeast, and low-rank in other directions. This study provides the new results on land change and landscape pattern and creates an improved ecosystem service value assessment method in Northeast China, to provide a more suitable ecosystem assessment application for Northeast China.

Taking Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture as an example, the ecological zoning planning was carried out on the basis of assessing the habitat quality and human footprint index in the study area by coupling the InVEST-HFI-PLUS model. Based on the land use data of 2005 and 2020, the PLUS model was used to simulate the land use status in 2035 under the two scenarios with natural development and planned protection, to evaluate the ecosystem service level under different scenarios, and to compare and analyze the actual benefits of different scenarios. The results indicated that:(1) the overall habitat quality of the study area was good, and 56% of the regions had high habitat quality grade. The HFI(Human footprint index) showed a pattern of low in the periphery and high in the middle of the study area. (2) Based on the combination of habitat quality and human footprint index, the study area could be divided into three ecological control zones:key protection area, key restoration area, and moderate development area. The key protection area accounted for 52.8%, the key restoration area accounted for 42%, and the moderate development area accounted for 5.2%. (3) Based on the land use simulation and ecosystem service value assessment in 2035 under the two scenarios, the total value of ecosystem services under the planned conservation scenario would be 416 million yuan higher than that under the natural development scenario, and the ecological conditions in the study area would be significantly improved. 参考文献 相似文献 引证文献
