The Role of The Digital Economy in Azerbaijan’s Economic Development

Azerbaijan is taking important steps towards the digital economy in order to support its economic growth and gain competitive advantage. This article examines the critical role played by the digital economy in the economic development of Azerbaijan. The introduction generally evaluates the economic context of Azerbaijan and emphasizes the importance of the digital economy in this context. The research method section describes the paper's basic data collection and analysis strategies. The Digital Economy and Azerbaijan section defines the basic concepts of the digital economy and examines Azerbaijan's progress in this field. Emphasis is placed on digital economy models and technology integration implemented in the country. The Role of the Digital Economy in Azerbaijan's Economic Development section discusses in detail the effects of the digital economy on economic growth. The role of elements such as innovation, e-commerce, digital finance and banking in the Azerbaijani economy is examined in depth. The Result and Discussion section evaluates the general findings of the article and discusses the potential impacts of the digital economy on the Azerbaijani economy. It also includes various perspectives on predicting future digital economy applications. This article aims to make a significant contribution to the country's efforts to achieve sustainable growth and competitive advantage by highlighting the central role of the digital economy in Azerbaijan's economic development.

Revisiting resource curse hypothesis and sustainable development: Evaluating the role of financial risk for USA

Natural resources' involvement in fostering economic and financial activity is critical for economic development (ED) of a country. Current research employed time series data from 1990 to 2020 to examine total natural resource rents, domestic investment, financial risk index, patents by residents and non-residents, and their influence on ED in the United States. For unit root analysis, the study used an upgraded Dickey-Fuller technique and a Bayer-Hanck cointegration approach that works quite well with varying orders of integrated variables. In addition, the study employed dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS) and completely modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS), which adjust for endogeneity and serial correlation. The findings reveal that overall natural resource rentals significantly boost the economy's ED. Domestic investment in gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) has substantially supported economic activity. At the same time, improvements in the FRI of the United States as a result of sustained ED indicate a beneficial influence on ED. Finally, the number of patents filed by residents and non-residents positively affects ED in the United States.

Patent Protection, Technological Efforts, And Exports: An Empirical Investigation

This study proposes an incremental perspective concerning the channel through which countries gain from strengthening patent rights (PRs). We hypothesize that the patent rights influence the technological effort of a country that further stimulates its exports. It is not evident in previous studies how the changes in innovativeness translate into economic growth. In this paper, we study the impact of PRs on the technology efforts of a country and their contribution to high-technology exports. We combine the technology efforts made by countries and their contribution to high-technology exports in order to explain a mechanism through which strong PRs contribute to economic growth, as such a channel remains unexplored in the current literature. This study adds to the literature by computing a technology effort index via principal components analysis to quantify the technological efforts made by a country, which we then use to measure its contribution on exports. Using panel data analysis on 67 countries from 1996-2014, this paper finds that patent rights influence the technological effort of a country that further stimulates its exports. This finding has implications for the role of the patent system in technological development and export orientation, both of which are important factors in economic growth. We also examined the interaction between source countries' technology efforts and the destination countries' patent rights environment. The interaction effect has a negative influence on exports in high income countries, suggesting that stronger destination patent rights enable source country firms to better exploit market power if they possess greater levels of technology. The results also demonstrate a positive relationship between a destination country's patent protection and export flows, which may be reduced if the technological efforts of a source country enable exporters to exercise market power. This result indicates that patent rights help attract exports from other countries – that the expansion and enforcement of global PRs play a significant role in the economic development of economies by helping to draw high technology products to both high-income and middle-income countries.

THE EVOLUTION OF "TECHNOLOGICAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF ECONOMY“: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS

The Technological and Economic Development of Economy (TEDE) journal was founded 25 years ago and it plays an important role in the economic field. The purposes of this study are to present a bibliometric analysis of the TEDE publications that are included in the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) database and identify the characteristics and evolution of the TEDE journal through some commonly used as well as various kinds of newly designed indicators. Firstly, annual and geographical distributions, author and manuscript characteristics of the TEDE publications are explored. Secondly, leading contributors including countries/territories, institutions, and authors are presented. The thematic analyses based on co-occurrence of keywords are presented lastly. The main advantages of this study are that all the analysis results are entirely based on objective data and the complex and important results are visualized. This study helps in understanding the development of the TEDE journal and has certain reference value for scholars in the economic field.

Socio-economic Development and its Impact on Health Personnel in Regions of Visegrad Group Plus Countries

Abstract The quality of life and economic development of economies and their regions is influenced by socio-economic indicators such as unemployment, healthcare and education, environmental issues or household equipment. The question remains whether these indicators within regions can also influence each other and whether they have positive or negative effects. The paper aims to describe the impact of the selected socioeconomic indicators on health personnel, which was also divided from the gender perspective. For this purpose, the regions of the Visegrad Group Plus countries at NUTS II level were selected. The research was performed in the period from 2004 to 2013. According to our results based on the Generalized Method of Moments with panel data, we found out that a change in household income and a change in the number of vehicles in the monitored regions have the greatest (positive) impact on staff in hospitals. The research may contribute to the discussion about levels of regional economic development and the related competitiveness in terms of the socio-economic approach, and it may also provide a basis for further discussion on its measurement and use of appropriate indicators.

It covers ideologies, methods and reasons for government interventions, the roles of state-owned businesses and the issues of labor in accordance to the different stages of GDP development. The interventions from the governments that caused the market to rebound and resilience are found in two countries. The article also redefines the developmental state as unlimited methods and ideologies under a government-led economic development economy. </em></p>
