Analysis of the Current Status and Trend of Domestic Eco-city Research based on CiteSpace

In today's era of rapid urbanisation and increasingly prominent ecological and environmental problems, creating a good living environment and building eco-cities to implement sustainable development has become the key to urban development in China. Based on the literature statistics and Citespace data analysis, this paper analyses the research papers on eco-city in CNKI database during 2001-2021, and analyses and summarizes the current situation and trend of eco-city research in China. The study shows that: ① the research and construction of eco-city still has great value. ② The research hotspots of eco-city have five major aspects: ecological civilisation, urbanisation/ urbanisation, indicator system, eco-city construction and sustainable development. ③ The directions of ecological civilisation construction, eco-city construction and sustainable development still occupy a place in the future direction of research and development. ④ The cooperation of scholars in the field of eco-city research is not close enough. ⑤ The field of eco-city research is in the stage of multidisciplinary cross-discipline, covering a wider range of dimensions. The research perspective, research content, and research methods and technical means are all characterised by obvious multidisciplinary intersection.

Ecological City Planning and Construction Research

In the process of modern urbanization, the construction of ecological city has become an inevitable trend. With the improvement of economic level, people are increasingly demanding a higher quality of life. Cities are the broadest living space for human beings and the foothold for improving the quality of life. The planning and construction of eco-cities satisfy the harmonious relationship between cities and ecological environment, which is of great significance for the sustainable development of urbanization and conforms to the urbanization requirements of harmonious coexistence between human and nature. There have been a lot of researches on eco-city, mainly involving the path exploration of eco-city construction, the practice situation, and the research related to different factors. At present, the construction of eco-city is in the initial stage of exploration, and still faces some development problems. This paper summarizes the connotation of eco-city, analyzes the problems existing in the current stage of eco-city construction, and puts forward some solutions to these obstacles, aiming at promoting the steady development of eco-city construction.

Chengde City in the Perspective of Sustainable Economic Development Eco-city construction study

Eco-city construction is an overview of the coordinated development of human social development and ecological environment, and sustainable development under the carrying capacity of the natural environment. Both natural, historical and socio-economic conditions are very limited for Chengde, and its economy has always been closed and semi-closed. Economic development is largely dependent on natural conditions and resources, which, together with a weaker socio-economic development base, has led to economic development lagging behind other surrounding areas. And the contradiction between economic development and resources and environment is becoming more and more prominent, which seriously limits the good economic and social development in Chengde. This paper studies the ecological city construction in Chengde from the aspect of sustainable economic development, and elaborates and analyzes the problems in the construction of ecological civilization in Chengde from the aspects of the regional overview of Chengde, the preliminary achievements of ecological civilization construction in Chengde, the index system of ecological civilization construction, and the influence of human production activities on ecological construction, and proposes specific measures to respect the laws of nature, enhance environmental protection awareness, develop green It also proposes specific measures to promote the construction of ecological civilization, such as respecting the laws of nature, enhancing environmental protection awareness, developing green economy and strengthening environmental law enforcement.

Land Use Conflicts Assessment in Xiamen, China under Multiple Scenarios

The accelerated urbanization process has resulted in increasingly prominent conflicts in land resource utilization and caused numerous ecological and environmental issues. Simulating the evolutionary patterns of land use conflicts (LUCs) is the foundation for promoting sustainable land use. The Markov and GeoSOS-FLUS models were used to predict the land use patterns under three different development scenarios, and to analyze the spatio-temporal characteristics of LUCs in Xiamen, China in 2030. Results showed the following: (1) From 2010 to 2020, land use/cover in Xiamen has changed substantially, with an increase of 6.93% in area of construction land and a decrease of 5.40% in area of cropland. (2) In the natural development scenario, the area of construction land in Xiamen is projected to increase, while the areas of cropland and other land types reduce. In the policy intervention scenario, the area of cropland continues increasing and the growth of construction land is effectively controlled. Under the sustainable development scenario, cropland, grassland, and wetlands of high quality that serve important ecological functions have been effectively protected. (3) LUCs in Xiamen differ greatly under the three scenarios in 2030. The sustainable development scenario (SDS) balances the land use needs of both socio-economic development and regional ecological security with the least LUCs, which could be an optimum solution for the long-term sustainable development in Xiamen. The results of this study provide support for decisions about eco-city construction and geospatial planning.

Preliminary Study on Waste Incineration and Electricity Conversion in Macau

Under the rapid development of the city, our city also produces a large amount of garbage, including ordinary household garbage, construction waste, and hazardous waste. Macau is a small area. If the domestic landfill method is adopted, the land area occupied by it will be the same as the land area of the entire Macau Peninsula. Therefore, as early as the mid-1980s, Macau established a waste treatment mode based on incineration and landfill supplementation. Since the waste incineration center’s completion in 1992, it has received three pieces of garbage with international advanced levels. In the treatment line, the exhaust gas reached the current EU emission standards. With the advocacy of the concept of eco-city construction, Macau’s urban waste treatment has also added a number of sustainable development measures, such as waste incineration, the production of fertilizer, and the recycling of household food waste. Based on field investigation and interview research, this study finally puts forward corresponding suggestions for the predicament of waste incineration in Macau.

Research progress of eco city evaluation

<p>Building an ecological city is the main way to implement the “five in one” overall layout and important content to promote the construction of ecological civilization. The establishment of an ecocity evaluation system is particularly necessary for the construction of ecocity. This paper comprehensively combs the research literature on ecocity evaluation, analyzes the relevant literature from three aspects: evaluation method, evaluation dimension, and evaluation index system, and puts forward suggestions on the existing ecocity evaluation methods.</p>

Simulation Analysis of Xi'an Eco-City Construction

Based on reviewing the theoretical research and construction practice of eco-city, this paper analyzes the system constituent elements from five subsystems, including economic subsystem, social subsystem, population subsystem, resource subsystem and environmental subsystem. The SD model of Xi 'an urban ecosystem was established by system dynamics method, the six main variables selected are as follows: GDP, per capita water resources, energy consumption per 10000 yuan of GDP, per capita public green area, number of doctors per 10000 people and GDPSO2 emissions per ten thousand yuan, different simulation results under different strategies are analyzed. According to the simulation data of ten leading indicators of eco-city construction, the paper calculates the measurement of Xi'an eco-city construction level. It puts forward specific suggestions from economy, resources, environment and security of eco-city construction.

Research on the introduction strategy of smart consumption concept in the construction of ecological city

<p>In recent years, eco city construction has become rampant at home and abroad. Some ecological technologies that are committed to reducing energy use are also improving, but the consumption behavior that drives the extensive use of energy is ignored. This paper studies the consumption problems in urban development, summarizes the four development paths of “time balance”, “channel optimization”, “resource sharing” and “streamlining consumption” combined with the concept of “smart consumption”, and further discusses the introduction strategy of the concept of “smart consumption” in the construction of ecological cities.</p>

Carbon Emission Evaluation in Jinan Western New District Based on Multi-Source Data Fusion

Carbon emissions caused by human activities are closely related to the process of urbanization, and urban land utilization, function vitality and traffic systems are three important factors that may influence the emission levels. For clarifying the space structure of a low-carbon eco-city, and combining the concept of “Combining Assessment with Construction” to track and contrast the construction of the low-carbon eco-city, this research selects quantifiable low-carbon eco-city spatial characteristics as indicators, and evaluates and analyzes the potential carbon emissions. Taking the Jinan Western New District as an example, diversity of construction land, travel carbon emission potential, and density and accessibility of adjacent road networks in the overall urban planning were measured. After the completion of the new urban area, the evaluation mainly reflected certain factors, such as the mixed degree of urban functions, the density of urban functions, the walking distance to bus stops and the density and number of bus stops. Dividing the levels and adding equal weights after index normalization, the carbon emission potential is evaluated at the two levels of the overall and fragmented areas. The results show that: (1) The low-carbon emission potential areas in the planning scheme basically reached the planned goals. (2) There is inconsistency between districts and indicators in the planning scheme. The diversity of construction land and the accessibility of the adjacent road network are relatively small; however, there is a large difference between the travel carbon emission potential and the road network accessibility. (3) Carbon emission potential after completion did not reach the planned expectation, and the low-carbon emission potential plots were concentrated in the Changqing Old City Area and Central Area of Dangjia Town Area. (4) The carbon emission indicators varied greatly in different areas, and there were serious imbalances in the density of public transportation lines and the mixed degree of urban functions.

Research on Key Technologies of Eco-city Construction Planning

As one of the main forms of urbanization in my country, urban construction is the process of building original natural or semi-natural ecosystems into urban artificial ecosystems from the perspective of ecology. It is the construction and replacement of ecosystem types and the process of encroachment. Urban planning must pay particular attention to the forward-looking nature of its ecological planning. While truly enhancing the city’s overall ecosystem service capabilities, it also prevents new ecological and environmental problems from being induced. Through theoretical analysis of the characteristics of ecosystem changes in the process of urban construction, combined with typical cases, several key issues in urban ecological planning have been summarized and condensed, and corresponding planning strategies and techniques have been proposed, with a view to providing ecological solutions for large-scale urban development in my country. Provide theoretical support for environmental protection work.

Toward the construction of a circular economy eco-city: An emergy-based sustainability evaluation of Rizhao city in China

The construction of the circular economy eco-city (CEE) is the most effective way to solve the problem of sustainable urban development. To promote its development, the evaluation and tracking of its sustainability have become significant in academic exploration. However, few efforts have been made in this regard. Thus, this paper aims to fill this gap by choosing Rizhao city, a coastal CEE, as a case study and employing an emergy-based method to assess its sustainability from 2005 to 2017. The study results show that the socio-economic development depends on the utilization of local non-renewable resources. Moreover, the self-support ratio was found to be above 94 %, which, in turn, led to an increase in the environmental loading ratio. However, due to a rise in resource recycle ratio, the emergy sustainability index and sustainable development index first showed a decreasing trend and then an increasing one. Consequently, the performance of the circular economy has improved, especially in terms of resolving the dilemma between a superior environment and a backward economy. Nevertheless, the coordinated development within the system was not adequate. Therefore, further policy recommendations have been made to improve the overall sustainability of the circular economy in Rizhao city.

Impact of eco-city construction on firm innovation in the case of China.

More and more scholars have paid attention to the importance of coordinated development between ecological environmental protection and economy. Eco-city construction has been implemented in many countries in recent years; however, quantitative research on its economic impact has only started. This study establishes a theoretical model of the impact of eco-city construction on a firm's research and development (R&D) investment. The numerical simulation results show that eco-city construction promotes a firm's R&D investment and long-term earnings from two aspects: (1) macro policies increase a firm's exogenous uncertainty and (2) ecological capital enhances a firm's business conditions. The empirical study matches the microscopic data of 115 cities and 2612 listed firms in China from 2008 to 2017, and results show that eco-city construction has a significant positive impact on firm innovation input and output. Further research shows that this positive impact mainly comes from ecological environment and ecological economy, and there is regional heterogeneity. For the first time, this study affirms the positive role of eco-city construction from the perspective of firm innovation activities at the micro level. It provides strong evidence for the government to realise the sustainable development of firms by accelerating eco-city construction.

At least 220 Chinese cities, townships, states and regions have been certified as eco-city until 2016. This task simultaneously received praise and criticism from international academia. Therefore, in order to find the right path for China’s eco-city development, it’s necessary to analyze the latest eco-city research progress and development trends, clarify research themes, and explore construction directions. In this regard, this paper uses bibliometric method and knowledge graph visualization technology to analyze the features of eco-city publications from 2009 to 2018. The amount of publications, the authors and their affiliations, the journals as well as the citation index are investigated. The cooperation networks between various universities and research institutes are also explored. Then, the research themes in different periods are revealed. It was found that the amount of eco-city publications between 2009 and 2018 was 3983, showing a rapid growth trend. China’s influence in the field of eco-city research is prominent, but the average number of citations needs to be improved. Countries with higher urbanization have cooperated closely in the field of eco-city research. Universities and research institutes are the main body of eco-city research. Although they have initially formed a cooperative network, the degree of contact and cooperation is still low. The keywords with high frequency of eco-city research are urbanization, urban ecology, ecosystem services and sustainability, etc., which have a high degree of centrality. Facing the opportunities provided by new technologies, eco-city research should promote multidisciplinary integration, in-depth study of the nonlinear and complex characteristics of urban composite ecosystems. Natural Gas Power Generation to Promote the Construction of Ecological City

As an unsustainable resource, it is of great significance to explore more efficient and low-carbon ways of using energy. With the fast development of China’s economy, most cities are faced with the pressure of ecological environment to varying degrees. The construction of ecological city is not only the need of ecological protection and improvement of natural environment, but also the requirement of urban development. Compared with coal-fired power generation, natural gas power generation has advantages in terms of environmental pollution, energy utilization efficiency and resource occupancy, and is one of the ideal energy sources for eco-city construction. However, at present, there are constraints such as lack of subsidy policy, high fuel price, dependence on import of equipment and high cost of construction and maintenance. In the long run, the development of gas-fired power generation industry should be actively and prudently promoted from the aspects of strengthening the construction of supporting facilities and the guarantee of gas source, perfecting the mechanism of electricity price, and increasing the localization rate of key equipment, so as to achieve the goal of optimizing industrial structure, saving energy and reducing emissions, and facilitating the construction of China’s ecological city.

Study on Evaluation of Eco-city Construction Based on Sustainable Development

According to the local development plan of Edinburgh, this paper establishes the evaluation system of ecological city construction, and combines the statistical data of 2014-2018, and uses the analytic hierarchy process and entropy weight method to calculate the index weight. the comprehensive evaluation of urban ecological construction in Edinburgh is carried out by the method of “model and sum”. The results show that the construction of ecological city in Edinburgh has shown an upward trend from the publication of the manuscript of local development plan in 2014, in which the construction effect has increased significantly from 2016 to 2017, and the evaluation value has reached the highest point. And then 2018 appeared a downward trend. Finally, on the basis of the evaluation of its implementation, discusses the enlightenment to the construction of ecological city and the realization of sustainable development in China.

Innovation in construction of local eco-civilized cities in China: cooperative construction mechanism with multi-element objects

The construction of eco-city is in full swing at home and abroad, and scholars all over the world have done a lot of research on it. Building an eco-civilized city is to realize the harmonious interaction between human and nature, and to constitute a new settlement system with an ecological, harmonious, and virtuous cycle. The construction of this new settlement system requires the participation of all subjects, emphasizing the co-construction of multi-subjects. However, domestic and foreign scholars have paid little attention on how to coordinate multi-subjects to build eco-civilized cities. Therefore, taking the construction of ecological civilization in the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone in China as an example, this paper establishes a ‘cooperative construction mechanism with multi-element objects’ based on the local government, enterprise, and the public. With this mechanism, we explore how to establish a cooperative construction mechanism among multi-subjects and how to implement this mechanism in the construction of eco-civilized cities, which is the core of this paper.

Exposure opportunity index: measuring people-perceiving-greenery at floor-level effectively

People prefer staying in neighborhoods with abundant green space, but crowded urban buildings insulate residents from experiencing nature. As people spend most of time indoors, it is necessary to measure the amount of perceived greenery from residents’ perspective. Therefore, measuring people-perceiving-greenery at floor-level is very important not only for the developing of urban landscape ecology but also for urban greenery planning, living environment evaluation and eco-city construction. Exposure Opportunity Index (EOI) based on hierarchy urban landscape was developed to measure people-perceiving-greenery at different floors. It considered spatial relations between building floors and nearby greenery. Two main steps were involved: first, the hierarchy urban landscape model was developed including extracting the urban structural information such as Canopy Height Model (CHM) and building structure, and conducting the spatial stratification strategy. Second, EOI was calculated with Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) method. Over 200 building storeys’ EOI were calculated and validated with 340 photos. Results indicated that EOI fit well with the reference data extracted from the photo series, and it was effective and reliable in measuring people-perceiving-greenery at floor-level. Furthermore, EOI may play important role in urban green planning and residential amenity evaluation.

생태도시적 공공미술 : 공공미술을 통한 생태도시의 사회적 구축

근대도시는 감당할 수 없는 환경부하로 발생하는 생태문제와 불가분의 관계다. 이 같은 반(反) 생태적 근대도시의 한계를 극복하는 시도로 생태도시가 각광받고 있다. 하지만 현실의 생태도시는 녹색의 건조환경과 관계된 것으로만 인식될 뿐 그에 맞는 사회적 구축을 고려하지 않아 현실적 대안이 되지 못했다. 도시가 주민들의 사회적 실천으로 만들어지는 집합적 ‘작품(oeuvre)’이라는 점에서 생태도시의 사회적 구축은 필수적이다.<BR> 이 글은 생태도시의 사회적 구축을 위해 공공미술에 주목하고 둘의 결합을 제안한다. 특히 새로운 장르 공공미술은 사회적 참여를 이끌어내 공공성을 마련하고 공동체와 사회를 만드는 힘을 지니고 있다. 우린 먼저 생태와 예술의 관계를 확인하고 생태도시와 공공미술의 결합 가능성과 조건을 확인했다. 다음으로 근대의 한계를 극복하려는 생태도시와 공공미술의 핵심적 특성을 비교 검토하고, 궁극적으로 생태도시와 공공미술을 결합한 ‘생태도시적 공공미술’을 제안했다. 생태도시적 공공미술은 생태도시의 사회적 구축을 통해 대안적 도시로서 생태도시를 현실로 만들 것이다.
