Research Problem: This abstract discusses the complex challenges faced by Islamic parties in the 2024 presidential election related to Jokowi's role as president. This report focuses on the dynamics of constellation formation between candidates competing in the 2024 presidential election. Research purposes: The main aim of this abstract is to examine the complexity of the problems faced by Islamic parties in the 2024 presidential election. This report aims to explain why Islamic parties cannot unite, but instead try to defeat each other in the election, due to the existence of forces outside of them who are capable of determine political dynamics in a presidential system. Research methods: Methodologically, this abstract refers to a case study of the experience of Islamic parties in contesting the 2024 presidential election in Indonesia. This report uses a qualitative analysis approach to investigate the political dynamics of the 2024 presidential election which also involves the influence of President Jokowi. Results and Discussion: This abstract discusses the challenges faced by political parties in Indonesia, especially Islamic political parties, in the 2024 presidential election which will be held simultaneously with the legislative elections. President Jokowi's influence is important in popularizing political parties that support the presidential candidates he supports, so that it also influences the results of the legislative elections for each Islamic party. Research Implications and Contributions: This abstract provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges faced by Islamic parties, both those that already exist and those that are just emerging in the 2024 elections. This report invites further research and discussion regarding important external (influence of the President in power) and internal aspects of Islamic parties. Determinants of Foreign Investment in Indonesia Post-Pandemic

Research Originality: The Covid-19 pandemic brought out the phenomenon of a rapid increase in investment after it has ended in Indonesia. This study gives a significant contribution in analyze the impact of pandemic on foreign direct investment.Research Objectives: The aim of this research is to predict whether there is a relationship of interest rates, inflation, labor force, GDP, and exchange rate with investment.Research Methods: This research is also to examine the asymmetric relationship among variables using the NARDL (Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag) method to identify the long-run effects of these variables on the investment after the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. It uses the secondary data from 1980-2022.Empirical Results: The results of research show that there is a long-run asymmetric effect of the variables of interest rates, GDP, and exchange rates on the foreign direct investment. It means that changes in these variable factors do not only affect the size of investment, but also the speed of its increase after the pandemic. Meanwhile, there is no asymmetric effect of the variables of labor force and inflation on the investment.Implications: This research provides a picture and new insights related to the foreign direct investment dynamics in Indonesia after the Covid-19 pandemic. This study implies that require a different policy approach in an effort to increase the investment in Indonesia.JEL Classification: F21, O40

This research aims to analyze how identity-based political parties develop and introduce their existence in the 2024 elections in Indonesia, focusing on the case study of the Ummat Party. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this study explores campaign strategies and patterns of political communication used by the Ummat Party to attract voter support. The research employs a qualitative approach, focusing on the general principles underlying the manifestation of meaning from social phenomena in society. Findings indicate that identity politics, particularly based on ethnicity and religion, dominate the campaign strategies of political parties, albeit controversially. While successful in garnering voter support, identity politics also generates social and political impacts that require further attention. Implications of identity politics on the political system and national unity are of primary concern, demanding in-depth analysis of the political and social dynamics in Indonesia. This study provides valuable insights into the role of identity politics in the Indonesian electoral context and lays the groundwork for further research on this topic.

Regional film in the dynamics of the national film industry

Background: In the last ten years, the Indonesian film industry has experienced significant growth. The national film industry and the regional film industry, one of which is indie films produced in the city of Makassar. The development of films in Makassar began to receive national public attention with the explosion of the film Uang Panai in 2016. Also, in 2017, the success of the movie Silariang received an audience of 183.340 people. Purpose: Examining the impact of Makassar-produced films on the dynamics of Indonesia's domestic film industry is the main objective of this study, including examining its impact on cultural identity, economic variables, and its role in enhancing the uniqueness of national film. Methods: This study employs a qualitative methodology and gathers data through content analysis, observation, and interviews. Results: According to the study's findings, regional films—like those made in Makassar—are essential to the growth and advancement of the country's film industry. This demonstrates how crucial it is to acknowledge and encourage filmmaking outside of the major industrial hubs. Conclusion: Research shows that regional films have the potential to positively impact economic growth, especially in the regions where they are produced. It encourages the creative economy, creates local employment opportunities, and offers direct and indirect financial benefits. Implications: There is a need to recognize and promote regional films to encourage the diversity of Indonesian films; this study is also expected to provide a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between regional films and the dynamics of Indonesian films.

Analysis of Labor Market Dynamics in Indonesia (1986-2012)

The researcher provides new evidence from Badan Pusat Statistik and International Labor Organization data on how labor market dynamics vary in labor market in Indonesia based on the ILO publication, 17 Key Indicators of the Labor Market 2015, which shows statistics on the main indicators in the dynamics of the labor market. Result shows that In Indonesia, the LFPR (Labor Force Participation Rate) for young people (15-19) is relatively low and reaches a peak among men (20-29) and then begins to decline substantially for older people (60+). Japan, as a developed country that is still in the Asian region, has a 2017 LFPR of 60.21%, this is because LFPR is the percentage of the labor force to the working age population. The total population of Indonesia aged 15 years and over is higher than Japan. In Indonesia, based on the number of people working in the sector, for the period 1986 to 2016, the agricultural sector is the most volatile sector. The highest proportion of informal employment in the non-agricultural sector is experienced by those with low education and the lowest is experienced by university graduates. Compared to Laos, Thailand and Cambodia as neighboring countries and developing countries, Indonesia is the country with the highest unemployment rate. Over the period 1991 to 2017, youth unemployment rates increased sharply for both men and women. The characteristics of unemployment in Indonesia based on unemployment show that the unemployed with high education (ILO concept: Intermediate and Advanced) are higher than the unemployed with low education (basic education).

This research aims to examine the role of songs as a tool of criticism against the government, focusing on "Gugatan Rakyat Semesta" which calls for scrutiny of governance. The study employs Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis approach with textual, discursive, and sociocultural analyses to understand how the song reflects socio-political dynamics in Indonesia. At the textual level, the research indicates that the song explicitly or implicitly urges people to challenge the government. Discursively, there is a correlation between the release of the song and student demonstrations. Sociocultural analysis reveals that the song's release is influenced by social tensions arising from economic decline, unemployment, corruption, discourse on election postponement, and others. This research is expected to contribute to understanding how musical artworks, particularly songs, can serve as tools of critique in the Indonesian socio-political context.

Utilization of Big Data Analytics in Understanding Climate Change Patterns: Latest Trends and Findings on Climate Patterns in Indonesia

Climate change has become a global concern. In Indonesia, a deep understanding of climate change patterns is increasingly important in planning effective mitigation and adaptation measures. In this study, we explore the utilization of big data analytics to understand climate change patterns and identify trends findings related to climate patterns in Indonesia based on variables such as temperature, humidity, rainfall, and wind speed. Data used were collected from satellite observations, weather stations from 2010 to 2020. Purpose this study aims to explore the utilization of big data analytics in understanding climate change patterns in Indonesia, with a focus on identifying trends and recent findings in climate patterns. Methodology–We applied big data analytics techniques such as descriptive statistical analysis, spatial regression modeling, and cluster analysis to identify climate change patterns and recent trends in Indonesia. Findings–Through big data analysis, we successfully identified significant climate change patterns in Indonesia. Practical implications the findings of this study can provide a better understanding of climate change dynamics in Indonesia, serving as a basis for decision-making in natural resource management, disaster risk mitigation, and climate change adaptation strategies at both regional and national levels and can serve as a reference for researchers.

Adapting And Resilient: How Indonesian Consumers Navigate E-Commerce Restrictions In The Post-Pandemic Retail Industry

This research aims to examine changes in consumer attitudes and purchasing power in the Indonesian market after the pandemic, with a focus on the impact of restrictions on online sales via social media. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed consumer behavior, triggering a shift from conventional transactions to online platforms. However, online sales restrictions implemented by the Indonesian government raise questions about how consumers will respond and adapt to these changes. This research uses qualitative research methods, namely by describing systematically by conducting literature reviews about post-pandemic consumer behavior, and the impact of social media on purchasing decisions, surveys or questionnaires, and in-depth interviews with consumers to understand attitudes, and their experiences regarding online shopping on social media during the post-pandemic period. The research results reveal that restrictions on online sales via social media influence consumers' attitudes towards online shopping, forcing them to look for other alternatives or change purchasing preferences. Apart from that, these restrictions also have an impact on consumer purchasing power and consumption patterns. This analysis describes post-pandemic market dynamics in Indonesia, where e-commerce companies and business people have to adapt to changes in consumer behavior. Policy implications for the government and marketing strategies for business people are also discussed in the research providing an in-depth look at how to optimize market potential in Indonesia. amid restrictions on online sales. This research aids in comprehending the ongoing alterations in the Indonesian consumer market post-pandemic, thereby guiding government, companies, and other business entities in decision-making processes.

WAKAF UANG DI INDONESIA: TANTANGAN, PELUANG DAN LANGKAH-LANGKAH MENUJU PEMANFAATAN OPTIMAL

Cash endowment has become one of the pivotal instruments in Indonesia's economic and social development. However, after the enactment of Wakaf (Islamic endowment) regulations in 2004, there are still several challenges in the country's optimal utilization of cash endowments. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the challenges, opportunities, and necessary steps to optimize the utilization of cash endowment in Indonesia after enacting the 2004 Wakaf regulations. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method is employed to gather, evaluate, and synthesize various Indonesian cash endowment studies. The analysis reveals that despite challenges such as regulatory ambiguity, lack of public understanding, and administrative hurdles, there are significant opportunities for cash endowment development, including the growth of the Islamic finance sector and increasing government support. Strategic steps such as enhancing public education, regulatory improvements, and collaboration among stakeholders are required to capitalize on these opportunities optimally. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of cash endowment dynamics in Indonesia and guides policymakers, practitioners, and academics in promoting sustainable and inclusive cash endowment development in the future.

Cultural Transformation of Kiai Leadership in Madura: From Religious Educators to Political Leaders

This research examines the transformation of kiai leadership in Madura, shifting from religious roles to political authority. This change reflects broader socio-political dynamics in Indonesia, where religious figures increasingly engage in politics. Madura, with its strong Islamic traditions, provides a vital case study to understand the factors driving this transformation and its impacts on local society and politics. Data was collected through field observations and interviews with nine informants, including three cultural figures, three academics, and three kiai. Key findings reveal that kiai leadership has evolved from a focus on education and social preaching to active involvement in nationalist political dynamics. Kiai now serve not only as spiritual leaders but also as influential political actors. This transformation is driven by socio-political changes in Indonesia, offering greater opportunities for religious figures in the political arena. Consequently, there has been a shift in the leadership structure and function within the Madurese community, with kiai assuming more complex and strategic roles. The significance of these findings lies in their contribution to academic literature and practical applications. For the academic community, this research provides new insights into the dynamics of kiai leadership in Madura, enriching the discourse on the intersection of religion and politics in Indonesia. Practically, understanding the transformation of kiai roles aids policymakers and community leaders in developing strategies to manage the relationship between religious institutions and politics. Additionally, these insights assist kiai and other religious leaders in navigating their evolving roles amidst ongoing socio-political changes.

New Social Movement on Jokowi’s Impeachment Action in Indonesia

The elections in Indonesia in 2024 have ended and confirmed the candidate pair Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the elected president and vice president to lead Indonesia. One of the controversies in 2024 election that occurred was President Jokowi's abuse of power with the aim of winning certain candidate pairs in the elections. Therefore, some people created a group called Petisi 100 to carry out a social movement, namely the impeachment of Jokowi. This movement can be categorized as New Social Movements (NSMs). This research aims to explore the Jokowi impeachment movement as NSMs which includes what is behind it, who is involved in the pros and cons, how the development process is, what activities mark it, the opportunity structure, mobilization and framing, and what impact it has on political dynamics in Indonesia. The research results show that the movement to impeach Jokowi was carried out due to dissatisfaction with Jokowi who was considered too involved in the 2024 elections. This movement developed through five stages, namely identity formation, escalation, mobilization, polarization, and actor formation. This movement could have an impact on challenges to political parties in channeling their aspirations and the results of the 2024 Election.

This article discusses the ideology of Muhammadiyah, the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia which was founded by KH. Ahmad Dahlan in 1912. Muhammadiyah ideology focuses on purifying Islamic teachings, with the aim of returning religious practices to the Koran and Sunnah of the Prophet. Throughout its journey, Muhammadiyah has also adopted a modern and progressive approach in the fields of education, health and social welfare. This article explores the basic principles of Muhammadiyah ideology, including the concepts of purification (tajdid) and renewal (islah), as well as their implementation in various social programs and activities. Apart from that, the challenges and adaptations of this ideology in facing social, political and cultural dynamics in Indonesia are also discussed. Through this analysis, this article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the contribution and relevance of Muhammadiyah ideology in the context of modern society.

This quantitative study investigates the impact of budget preparation participation and budget target clarity on the performance of regional apparatus organizations (OPDs) in Sidoarjo Regency, Indonesia, with organizational commitment as a moderating variable. Utilizing SmartPLS version 3.0, data was collected from 78 respondents across 26 OPDs using purposive sampling. Findings reveal that both budget preparation participation and budget target clarity significantly influence OPD performance, while organizational commitment moderates the effect of budget target clarity but not budget preparation participation. The study underscores the importance of active participation in budgeting processes and clear budget targets in enhancing OPD performance, offering valuable insights for policymakers and organizational leaders aiming to optimize budgeting practices and bolster organizational effectiveness. Happiness amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia: exploring gender, residence type, and pandemic severity

This study delves into the dynamics shaping happiness levels in Indonesia before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically emphasizing gender and residence-type disparities. Using data from the 2017 and 2021 Happiness Level Measurement Survey, it offers insights into how different population segments were affected. The analysis employs a multilevel mixed-effects ordered logistic model, considering individuals nested within provinces, and measures pandemic severity using positive COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents. This study evaluates pandemic-related happiness shifts using nationwide cross-sectional survey data from two timeframes. It derives substantial statistical strength from data involving 137,000+ respondents gathered through comprehensive face-to-face interviews. It mitigates recall bias by capturing happiness at two distinct time points, avoiding retrospective measures. The study examines and validates four research questions. First, higher COVID-19 cases in provinces correlate with lower happiness. Second, though women were happier than men, the pandemic reduced this gender-based gap. Third, urban residents were generally happier than rural residents, but the pandemic narrowed this difference. All the estimates exhibit statistical significance at the 1 percent level. Finally, while provincial poverty showed minimal happiness impact, a negative association between unequal per capita expenditure and happiness emerged, providing partial backing for investigating the role of macroeconomic conditions. This study reveals that the COVID-19 pandemic altered happiness dynamics in Indonesia, narrowing gender and residence-based gaps. It also emphasizes the role of socioeconomic factors, particularly unequal per capita expenditure, in influencing individual happiness, highlighting implications for targeted policy interventions.

Measuring Levels of Infrastructure Development and its Impact on Regional Growth - Insights from Indonesia

Infrastructure development is a linchpin for regional growth, especially in emerging economies like Indonesia. There have been many debates over the necessity of infrastructure investment over direct economic stimuli. This study delves into the critical role of infrastructure in shaping regional dynamics in Indonesia. We employ the Infrastructure Development Index (IDI), a composite metric amalgamating various infrastructure clusters into a singular value. A sample of strategic region in Indonesia are observed in this research, classified into urban and non-urban areas to highlight the different levels of impact the infrastructure development brings. Several regional development indicators such as: (a) economic growth; (b) poverty rate; (c) gini index; (d) human development index; and (e) unemployment rate is used to explore its relationship with infrastructure development. This research shows a nuanced pattern where mainly urban areas exhibiting higher IDI value and higher impact on its regional growth and development. While non-urban areas still experiencing lower impact due to the difficulties in infrastructure access and the disparity of access between the areas. It indicates the prevailing urban bias in infrastructure development, needing an improved urban-rural linkage on overall economic input-output processes. In sum, this study provides further insights into the pivotal role of infrastructure in regional development in Indonesia, offering a roadmap for informed decision-making in the pursuit of comprehensive and sustainable regional progress.
