Design and Development of Cybersecurity Suite

Protecting personal, corporate and government data in the digital age requires cybersecurity. Traditional cybersecurity methods sometimes lack comprehensive and dynamic protection mechanisms as cyber-attacks change and become more sophisticated. A new cybersecurity suite is proposed in this study. It integrates various advanced security technologies into a single user-friendly platform interaction. This paper specifically combines techniques for real-time phishing detection, strong password management, safe encryption and decryption services and an interactive module to promote user awareness and behaviours to improve digital security for individuals and organization. Rapid prototyping is used in iterative and incremental development phases to adapt to changing security needs and user input. This method allows the platform to be constantly improved to satisfy the current cybersecurity standards and react to new threats. The prototyped developed provides proactive digital defence, a complete cybersecurity platform that equips users to defend their digital presence. With the intuitive design and advanced feature set, the prototype aspires to democratize cybersecurity. Empirical testing of the prototype revealed that makes an effective protection of a wider audience without the complexities of security software. This paper contributes in the advances cybersecurity technology and shaping the digital protection measures.

Dynamic Ex Vivo Porcine Eye Model to Measure Ophthalmic Drug Penetration under Simulated Lacrimal Flow.

Animal models are still used in the research and development of ophthalmic drug products, mainly due to the difficulty in simulating natural physiological conditions with in vitro models, as there is a lack of dynamic protection mechanisms. Therefore, developing alternative ophthalmic models that evaluate drug penetration in the cornea while applying dynamic protection barriers is a contemporary challenge. This study aimed to develop a dynamic ex vivo model using porcine eyes with a simulated lacrimal flow to evaluate the performance of pharmaceutical drug products. A glass donor cell to support a simulated tear flow was designed, optimized, and custom-made. The system was challenged with different formulations (with fluconazole) including excipients with different viscosities (poloxamer 407) and mucoadhesive properties (chitosan). The results were compared to those obtained from a conventional excised cornea model mounted in Franz-type diffusion cells. The dynamic model could differentiate formulations, while the static model did not, overestimating ex vivo drug penetrated amounts. Hence, the dynamic model with simulated tear flow showed to be a simple and promising new alternative method for the drug penetration of ophthalmic formulations that ultimately can reduce the number of animals used in research.

Wireless power transfer for mobile robot with capacity optimization and dynamic protection considerations

ABSTRACT In this paper, a wireless charging system that can perform coil capacity optimization and dynamic protection is proposed for mobile robots. Poor wireless charging performance might be obtained because of the inability to achieve reliable capacity estimation and effective charging detection; therefore, in this study, suitable solutions were identified for capacity estimation and effective charging detection. First, resonance analysis was conducted on a systematic flexible coil design to maximize its charging capacity. Second, a dynamic protection mechanism was developed to handle unexpected charging mistakes caused by misalignment. Third, a pickup terminal feedback system integrated with a Bluetooth chip and microprocessor unit was embedded to maintain the requisite output voltage. This system was validated through simulations and hardware implementations. The experimental results indicate that a setup based on the proposed design delivers a power of 3.2 kW at an efficiency of 91.4%, which confirms the efficacy and feasibility of the proposed approach for robot charging.

CuCl2‐Modified Lithium Metal Anode via Dynamic Protection Mechanisms for Dendrite‐Free Long‐Life Charging/Discharge Processes

AbstractLithium metal is considered as an ideal substitute to low‐capacity carbon anodes for rechargeable lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) given its ultra‐high theoretical specific capacity of 3860 mAh g−1 and the lowest electrochemical potential. However, safety issues stem from the uncontrollable formation and growth of lithium dendrites, which severely plague the practical application of the Li anode. Here, a multi‐functional protection layer, prepared by a one‐step spin‐coating of CuCl2 N‐Methyl‐2‐Pyrrolidone (NMP) solution on a lithium metal surface is constructed. The as‐prepared protective layer has a variable porous morphology that consists of a conductive lithium‐copper alloy and electrochemically active CuCl, which proactively facilitates the homogeneous diffusion of Li‐ions, the elimination of random dendrite nuclei, and even distribution of charge at the Li anode surface, and subsequently the uniform deposition of Li+ ions. Under such a dynamic protection mechanism, the proposed CuCl2 modified Li electrode can stably cycle more than 1500 h at a current density of 1 mA cm−2 paired with lithium foil. Moreover, the assembled full battery achieves capacity retention of 85.6% even after 2000 cycles at a high rate of 5 C with a LiFePO4 cathode. This as‐proposed dynamic protection mechanism via the incorporation of the electrochemically active component could provide new guidance in the preparation of the safe and high‐performance lithium metal anodes.

Dual-structural network of active defense

Cyberspace security is vital to state interest. Recently, there are some challenges in cyber security. In architecture for instance, although protection mechanisms are introduced and applied everywhere, the modern network architecture (well connected and open) still has difficulty in completely ensuring cyber security. It is also observed that contemporary cyber security protection mechanism highly depends on the priori information of security threats and thus will hardly address unknown potential threats. In this paper, a novel cyberspace security protection framework is proposed. A dual-structural Internet scheme that integrates the current Internet architecture with a redundant secondary structure network characterized by its broad-storage scheme, heterogeneous structure, and dynamic protection mechanism is introduced. Also, a novel active defense mechanism that is knowledge-data driven and thus independent of the priori information of the security threat is proposed. Furthermore, some key techniques such as transparent access and prepositive active defense are introduced. The theoretical and technical work proposed in this paper offers a comprehensively evolutionary solution to constructing a cyberspace in which the protection mechanism is more independent and active.

Endogenous isoprene protects Phragmites australis leaves against singlet oxygen

The possible protective role of endogenous isoprene against oxidative stress caused by singlet oxygen (1O2) was studied in the isoprene‐emitting plant Phragmites australis. Leaves emitting isoprene and leaves in which isoprene synthesis was inhibited by fosmidomycin were exposed to increasing concentrations of 1O2 generated by Rose Bengal (RB) sensitizer at different light intensities. In isoprene‐emitting leaves, photosynthesis and H2O2 and malonyldialdehyde (MDA) contents were not affected by low to moderate 1O2 concentrations generated at light intensities of 800 and 1240 µmol m−2 s−1, but symptoms of damage and reactive oxygen accumulation started to be observed when high levels of 1O2 were generated by very high light intensity (1810 µmol m−2 s−1). A dramatic decrease in photosynthetic performance and an increase in H2O2 and MDA levels were measured in isoprene‐inhibited RB‐fed leaves, but photosynthesis was not significantly inhibited in leaves in which the isoprene leaf pool was reconstituted by fumigating exogenous isoprene. The inhibition of photosynthesis in isoprene‐inhibited leaves was linearly associated with the light intensity and with the consequently formed 1O2. Hence, physiological levels of endogenous isoprene may supply protection against 1O2. The protection mechanisms may involve a direct reaction of isoprene with 1O2. Moreover, as it is a small lipophilic molecule, it may assist hydrophobic interactions in membranes, resulting in their stabilization. The isoprene‐conjugated double bond structure may also quench 1O2 by facilitating energy transfer and heat dissipation. This action is typical of other isoprenoids, but we speculate that isoprene may provide a more dynamic protection mechanism as it is synthesized promptly when high light intensity produces 1O2.

Filters in SL5

The filter facility of the SL5 programming language permits the programmer to attach a procedural component to a variable. This procedural component can be used to 'filter' values assigned to the variable or to filter the value of the variable whenever it is fetched. Filters are the basis for the inclusion, at the source language level, of such features as tracing, dynamic datatype checking, generators, and dynamic protection mechanisms. Most importantly, filters are used for argument binding, permitting various methods of argument transmission to be defined in SL5 itself. This paper gives an overview of SL5, describes the filter facility, and gives several examples of its use. (Received December 1976)
