Duality of variational problems with a new approach

The present investigation introduces the third order duality in variational problems, as because, in certain situations, first and second order duality do not yield solutions but it succeeds in finding the desired results. The duality results for the pair of variational primal problems and their corresponding third order dual problems are demonstrated. Counterexamples are provided to justify the importance of the current research work. It is found that many reported results of the literature are particular cases of this paper.

Second order duality for variational problems involving generalized convexity

The aim of this paper is to introduce the concept of second-order (F, α, ρ, θ)-convexity for variational problems. An example is constructed to examine the existence of the introduced class of functions, which is more general than previously defined functions. In order to relate the primal variational problem and its second order dual, several duality results, viz., weak, strong and strict converse duality results are established.

Multiobjective Duality in Variational Problems with Higher Order Derivatives

A multiobjective variational problem involving higher order derivatives is considered and optimality condi-tions for this problem are derived. A Mond-Weir type dual to this problem is constructed and various duality results are validated under generalized invexity. Some special cases are mentioned and it is also pointed out that our results can be considered as a dynamic generalization of the already existing results in nonlinear programming.

Sufficient optimality criteria and duality for variational problems with generalised invexity

AbstractA number of Kuhn-Tucker type sufficient optimality criteria for a class of variational problems under weaker invexity assumptions are presented. As an application of these optimality results, various Mond-Weir type duality results are proved under a variety of generalised invexity assumptions. These results generalise many well-known duality results of variational problems and also give a dynamic analogue of certain corresponding (static) results relating to duality with generalised invexity in mathematical programming.
