James O 'Connor's Ecological Thought and its Practical Enlightenment

James O 'Connor's ecological thought was born in the middle and late 20th century. By using the unique theory of double contradiction and double crisis of capitalism, James O 'Connor revealed the global ecological crisis caused by the development of capitalism, outlined a new model of ecological socialism, and tried to find a feasible path to solve the global ecological crisis. To mitigate the adverse effects of the ecological crisis on the capitalist world. James O 'Connor's ecological thought has been widely discussed by the academic community since it was put forward. Subsequently, many scholars in the field of ecology have analyzed and studied James O 'Connor's thought. Through the organic combination with the current actual situation and practical experience, they began to apply James O 'Connor's ecological thought to the management of ecological problems. The construction of ecological civilization in our country is also developing continuously, and O 'Connor's ecological thought has a very positive enlightening and instructive significance to the construction of ecological civilization in our country.

The Double Contradiction - Education Gospel and Education Penalty

The wishful thinking of education-jobs-development promise has formed within the emergence of the trinity of the knowledge economy, meritocracy and human capital theory embedded in education ideology. The take-for-granted promise is idealized and deceptive, which largely ignores the interplay of other variables. The education arms race, credential inflation, overeducation, the dilemma of liberal arts and humanity subjects, and education penalties for employees, especially student workers, have exposed another side of the seemingly promising trinity. In this sense, the absolute goodness of education has gradually tilted toward relative or positional goodness, suggesting an alienated structure which simultaneously constrains individuals. Focusing on the paradoxes of the trinity specifically, allows people to not only scrutinize the overall picture and interconnection of those educational settings but also how education shapes and reshapes different stakeholders. This essay expounded the traps of the trinity, indicating meritocracy reproduces inequality and its premise on ability-based placement is also flawed. Heavily human-capital-based-idealogy alienates education. People with knowledge do not necessarily gain high-income jobs. The paper suggests a reconnection and review on education purposes for education stakeholders and the construction of a working environment legal protective framework to embrace the increasing student workforce.

Analyzing the Effectiveness of Finance in Supply Chain in Solving the Financing Difficulties of SMEs Based on Grey Theory Model.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play an indispensable role in China's national economic system, and they can play a critical role in promoting economic growth and full employment. The main reason for the disruption and impediment to the development of SME clusters is that the enterprises in the clusters are experiencing a “capital shortage,” as a result of the double contradiction between the clusters' financial benefits and the difficulties in financing. Grey theory is a relatively new concept in the field of information processing. It proposes theories and methods for processing and analyzing incomplete information systems using mathematical methods. This study uses finance in supply chain as a new research perspective to investigate the effectiveness of finance in supply chain in resolving SMEs' financing problems using the Grey theory model, with the goal of resolving SMEs' financing problems. When comparing the results of the Grey theory model and the regression analysis model, the relative error of the Grey theory model is on average 12.2% lower than that of the regression analysis model, indicating that the Grey theory model greatly improves accuracy. As a result, using the Grey theory model to solve supply chain financing and SMEs' difficulties can share risks, share credit, reduce transaction costs, weaken information asymmetry, and achieve mutual benefits and a win-win situation. It is expected to promote the development of the finance in supply chain model, mobilise enterprise enthusiasm for using finance in supply chain, improve finance in supply chain operational efficiency, and promote finance in supply chain development.

Oil-Fueled Accumulation in Late Capitalism

Capitalist development since the 1940s has been fueled by global oil extraction. Cheap oil was the core energy input in the post–World War II expansion. By the 1970s, the limits of this oil-fueled accumulation regime began to appear. During that decade, a series of oil price hikes combined with other sources of tension to form a deep accumulation crisis. The crisis of the 1970s showed the effects that a strategic circulating capital—in this case, petroleum—has in shaping profitability trends. Today, the possible recessionary effects caused by oil price hikes are joined on the environmental side by another problem: the continued burning of fossil fuels exacerbates the climate crisis. To address this double contradiction, I revisit the Marxian theory of crisis in a world-historical and world-ecological framework. With this framework, I unpack the historical connections between petroleum, uneven development, accumulation crises, and climate change.

The Neurological Foundation of Geometry

Geometry is based on vision. Hence, the visual information processing of the nervous system regulates the structure of geometry. In this paper, we shall construct geometry following the process of visual information processing in the nervous system. Firstly, photons are captured by photoreceptor cells in the retina. At this stage, the retinal bitmap image is constructed using photo- receptor cells as pixels. The retinal bitmap is the foundation of quantitative properties of images throughout the visual processing. Secondly, the edge of the object is extracted in the primary visual cortex. When a three-dimensional object is projected in two dimensions, the edge of the object is ideally a line without width. While Euclid defined the line as the length without width. Surprisingly, a type of cells in the primary visual cortex react the Euclidean line. At this stage, Euclidean geometry without curves is constructed. Thirdly, curves are recognized in the visual area V4. At this stage, Euclidean geometry with curves is constructed. The next problem is the compatibility of these stages. The problem of the compatibility between the first and second stages is that there are irrational lengths in Euclidean geometry. Ancient Greeks used the double contradiction to solve the compatibility problem. An irra- tional number is defined as a number that divides rational numbers into larger and smaller rational numbers. The double contradiction is a method of defining non-rational numbers using rational numbers. Also, double contra- diction is used to solve the compatibility problem between the second and third stages. Even though the length of the curve is not defined in Elements, the length of a curve can be defined by the length of straight lines. Similarly, properties of curves are defined by straight lines. In differentiation, the slope of the curve is defined by the slope of the line. In integration, the area under the curve is defined by the total area of thin rectangles. Finally, as a logical basis for calculus, the double contradiction should be rethought.

Estructuralismo historico, economia politica y teorias de la comunicacion: notas sobre la trayectoria del pensamiento critico latinoamericano Estruturalismo historico, economia politica e teorias da comunicacao: notas sobre a trajetoria do pensamento critico latino-americano This paper identifies the first school of communication criticism and Latin American structuralism as theoretical bases of the political economy of communications (PEC) and Brazilian culture. In reference to the career of Luis Ramiro Beltran, specifically his work La revolucion verde y el desarrollo rural latinoamericano —in which he discusses the category of demonstration effect—, the theoretical limitations of this school are analyzed after identifying the structural nature of underdevelopment in Latin America. Thus, starting from the need to show the double contradiction of capital (capital/labor and economy/culture), the PEC raises the problem of the role of mass media at the level of social mediations, based on capital’s adoption of popular culture elements that—passing first through a moment of primitive knowledge accumulation—will later constitute the industrialized culture. Then, the cultural industry emerges as the mediation authority that characterizes monopoly capitalism, and this is where, supported by Celso Furtado’s theory of cultural dependence, the Brazilian PEC exceeds the constraint already recognized by Ingrid Sarti when she stated that the idea of mass culture conceals the existence of a class culture. Double contradiction of schooling: class reproduction and working-class agency at vocational schools in China

Situating in the different social, political and cultural contexts of schooling in China, which is more embedded in mixed neoliberal value, authoritarian state control and collective morality, we use a somewhat different theoretical angle to understand the process of ‘learning to labour’ and the reproduction of working class at school and at work. Our study extends the horizon of Willis’ analysis of cultural reproduction at school by seriously analysing students’ work experiences through their internship at the site of production. Taking a sociological rather than cultural analysis approach, we re-conceptualize working-class agency embedded in a double contradiction of schooling as a site of contestation. This double contradiction is generated by conflicting experiences caused by inevitable conflicts among the three spheres of material production, social reproduction and cultural reproduction in educating ideal labour subjects to serve the state, market and family, providing fertile soil for re-negotiating working-class solidarity.

Differential Calculus Based on the Double Contradiction

The derivative is a basic concept of differential calculus. However, if we calculate the derivative as change in distance over change in time, the result at any instant is 0/0, which seems meaningless. Hence, Newton and Leibniz used the limit to determine the derivative. Their method is valid in practice, but it is not easy to intuitively accept. Thus, this article describes the novel method of differential calculus based on the double contradiction, which is easier to accept intuitively. Next, the geometrical meaning of the double contradiction is considered as follows. A tangent at a point on a convex curve is iterated. Then, the slope of the tangent at the point is sandwiched by two kinds of lines. The first kind of line crosses the curve at the original point and a point to the right of it. The second kind of line crosses the curve at the original point and a point to the left of it. Then, the double contradiction can be applied, and the slope of the tangent is determined as a single value. Finally, the meaning of this method for the foundation of mathematics is considered. We reflect on Dehaene’s notion that the foundation of mathematics is based on the intuitions, which evolve independently. Hence, there may be gaps between intuitions. In fact, the Ancient Greeks identified inconsistency between arithmetic and geometry. However, Eudoxus developed the theory of proportion, which is equivalent to the Dedekind Cut. This allows the iteration of an irrational number by rational numbers as precisely as desired. Simultaneously, we can define the irrational number by the double contradiction, although its existence is not guaranteed. Further, an area of a curved figure is iterated and defined by rectilinear figures using the double contradiction.

Psychological correlates of gender identity in early adulthood

The article deals with the psychological mechanisms of personal self-determination of the Ukrainian students (youth) in modern controversial system of traditional / patriarchal and egalitarian / democratic coordinates from the position of gender methodology. The psychological model of sex-role identification is suggested. Social and educational factors and personal determinants of personalization of gender “I” are summarized. The social construction of gender in youth environment is determined by gender space of contemporary society, it is characterized by double contradiction: on the one hand, a partial solution of the ways of establishment of formal equality and appellation to the natural function of women, on the other hand - new, alternative system of gender relations based on the principle “equality in difference”, tendency of equal rights and opportunities for self-realization of young men and women as unique subjects of socio-historical event. On the background of “total social transformation” girl-students often express liberal installations, support more equitable devision of family roles, look for equal opportunities for self-realization. These tendencies allow to increase subjective potential, identify psychological prospects for future life creativity of young women as a way to overcome usual stereotypes, that demonstrates the need of the development and implementation of gender specific ideological system of knowledge and practices, relevant to psychological principles of parity and self realization of sexes. Prospects of further study on gender social construction among students, ways of egalitarian formation of personality are outlined.

Archimedes and double contradiction proof

This article examines Archimedes’ proofs in his quadrature of various plane and solid figures which use double contradiction proof (usually known as exhaustion method), and emphasizes the diversity of Archimedes’ approach. Though it is widely believed that Archimedes established a standard method of quadrature in his mature work on Conoids and Spheroids, an analysis of the final part of the method (his last work) reveals that he failed to see a common quantitive property among the solids he was treating, which would have greatly simplified his arguments. In short, Archimedes did not have a systematic ‘method’ for quadrature, and each new figure constituted a new challenge for him.

The Ideal of a Co-operative System Confronted with Capitalism. The Case of a Dehydrating Plant in Western France. Within a group of small and medium-sized farmers who already share labour and machines, the creation of a forage dehydrating plant causes more dissension than concord. The cost of dehydrating is such that farmers tend to use forage as a complementary food rather than a basic one. Thus in their rotation cycle they tend to favour lucern (alfalfa) which contains the highest percentage of proteinic substances, neglecting to supply the plant regularly with grass and hence affecting its efficiency. The plant workers, who carry out harvesting as well, react by stretching the cutting period as much as possible, which is harmful to the quality of the forage and the structure of the soils. Besides, the small-holders, once useful for the creation of the capital, turn out to be a handicap for the commercial efficiency of the plant because of their small and scattered fields. Moreover, the yields of their milch-cows are generally too low to justify the dehydrating of forage. Hence a double contradiction develops: on the one hand, between the farmers and the plant; on the other hand, between the small and medium-sized farms. This opposition brings to light the fact that the family holdings of this area are badly adapted to the heavy investments required for undertakings such as a dehydrating plant. This results in an evolution of the politics of recruitment, which tend to be based exclusively on principles of commercial efficiency at any cost, according to the logic of capital, and thus disregard the ideal of cooperation out of which the project of a dehydrating plant grew.
