Illegal Animal Trade by Crime Groups between Indonesia and Australia Becomes a Phenomenon that Threatens Global Issues

This research explains the phenomenon of illegal animal trade, which is one of the organized transnational crimes in the current era of globalization. Australia and Indonesia are countries affected by the illegal animal trade, making it a global threat that cannot be overcome easily. The research question is why illegal animal trade between Australia and Indonesia has become a strong network at the international level and threatens a global issue. The aim of this research is to analyze one case of TOC, namely the illegal animal trade that occurred between Indonesia and Australia, because this issue is a phenomenon that threatens global issues and has become a strong network at the international level. Data was collected through various literature sources and literature studies, and document review techniques were used for the data collected in this research. Data analysis uses analysis with a descriptive and qualitative approach. The amount of literature used in this research was 12 journal articles, 8 newspapers and reports, five repositories, two theses, and three books. The results of the analysis found several findings and answers from this research, namely that this phenomenon involves two countries, apart from that this crime causes other crimes, and the perpetrators are part of an organized crime group that has many networks at the international level to carry out illegal animal trade on the international black market.

Competency-based Curriculum: A New Approach to Curricular Change

After the pandemic, education in Ecuador needed to align the curriculum with 21st-century skills and technological advances that occur in a global world. This adjustment must ensure that students acquire not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills and essential competencies to thrive in a digitalized and interconnected world. The aim of this article is to justify why a competency-based curricular change is necessary, adopting a new educational paradigm. This article is based on theoretical research using the document review technique. The findings suggest a change to a new curricular structure that overcomes the existing gaps between academic education and the competencies required in the current labor market, promoting an education that integrates practical skills with advanced theory, preparing students to face the challenges of a technologically advanced and competitive work environment. The need to review and update the national curriculum is emphasized to foster an education that is truly relevant and applicable in the future professional context

Gambaran Proses Rekrutmen, Seleksi dan Penempatan Pegawai di RSUD Pasar Minggu Tahun 2022

Recruitment is an effort to find and influence workers, so they want to apply for job vacancies in the organization/company. The implementation of recruitment and selection is one of the ways that companies do to find and determine prospective employees who will be accepted or rejected by the company. The purpose of the study was to describe the process of recruitment, selection and placement of employees at Pasar Minngu Hospital in 2022. This type of research used a descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. In this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with 2 informants. The method of data collection is by using interview, observation and document review techniques. Based on the results of the study, the process of job analysis stages at Pasar Minggu Hospital in conducting job analysis refers to workload analysis only. The employee recruitment process at Pasar Minggu Hospital still depends on the demand or demands of each unit in need. the employee selection process at Pasar Minggu Hospital starts from the administrative selection stage then to the MMPI test, in the selection process carried out there is still no debriefing process that aims to encourage new employees to get to know the scope of their work well. The placement of employees at Pasar Minggu Hospital is carried out using a method based on the assessment of education, experience and educational certification as well as human resource needs. At Pasar Minggu Hospital, they still have not paid attention to the development of placement criteria which aims to obtain effective and efficient results in the selection and placement recruitment process. Suggestions are expected from the hospital regarding the process of recruitment, selection and placement of employees not depending on the demands or demands of each unit in need

Investigating the Implementation of IMRaD Structure in Abstracts of Undergraduate Students' Theses

The IMRaD (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) structure is a crucial framework for organizing information in abstract writing, enabling clear and effective communication of research findings. Hence, this research aims to analyze the adherence of undergraduate students to the IMRaD structure in their thesis abstracts. The study focuses on students who graduated from a private university in 2019. A sample of 77 from 326 thesis abstracts was selected from the population using the simple random sampling technique. Data collection involved a document review technique. The result shows that among the 77 students, all abstracts included the Introduction section, indicating a high level of adherence. However, the Method and Results sections were found in the abstracts of only 70 students, suggesting a relatively lower compliance rate. Surprisingly, the Discussion section was present in the abstracts of only 31 students, representing the lowest adherence to the IMRaD structure. This research reveals a need for interventions to enhance undergraduate students' understanding and implementation of the IMRaD structure in their thesis abstracts. Therefore, lecturers and institutions should provide guidance and support to improve students' adherence to this important academic writing convention. By enhancing students' proficiency in applying the IMRaD structure, their thesis abstracts can become more effective and aligned with scholarly standards.

The Impact of the Linus Literacy Programme on Reading Ability Skills in Malaysia

This study was conducted to identify factors contributing to reading proficiency among primary school students who attended the Literacy and Numeracy Screening (LINUS) Programme in Malaysia. A total of 108 students were selected to participate in this study, which used a mixed method. The findings show no significant difference in the proficiency of reading aspects between students in terms of gender. However, the findings proved that students whose parents work in the government sector show better achievement than students from families where their parents working in the private sector. This study also found that students obtained a better command in reading during the post-test was higher than during the pre-test. A qualitative approach is applied to obtain desired data by using observation, interview and document review techniques. The study found that the LINUS teachers used various methods such as demonstrations, instructions, drills and fun learning during teaching sessions while incorporating learning aids; for instance, scan cards and reading kits help students recognise syllables and increase reading ability. Low-income parents, type of occupation, passive LINUS students and frequent absenteeism are among the constraints identified in this study. Social Communication Patterns of Silver Man in Daily Life in South Tangerang City

The silver man phenomenon in South Tangerang City is quite troubling. In addition to impacting the perpetrator, this silver man’s existence indirectly disturbs the order on the highway. This fact is certainly interesting if you look more closely at the actual conditions and the appearance of the silver man, who seems complicated to take firm action against. This study discusses the Silver man’s social communication pattern in daily life in the City of Tangerang. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research with a qualitative approach. The data needed to describe the Silver Man communication pattern in South Tangerang City were obtained using in-depth interviews, observation, and document review techniques. From the analysis of this study, it was found that first, social communication took place in the form of individual communication with other silver people using regionaland non-verbal languages. The second is that social communication also takes place in the form of personal communication with parents and siblings.

Ikhsaka Banu's reconciliation and resistance to the traumatic discourse of postcolonial subjects

The discourse of colonial and colonized conflicts is oriented in the form of resentment and hatred of the colonized community as part of the causality of traumatic events. The wounds of the past are then passed down through the concept of memory transmission both by famillial mechanism memory and affillial memory by first-generation to post-generation. It is this hereditary traumatic condition that contributes to maintaining the discourse of inferiority and binaryism between East and West. Thus, the purpose of this study is to describe the conflicts of colonizers and postcolonial colonizers as well as examine the efforts of Iksaka Banu to release these traumatic shackles through reconciliation and resistance efforts. This research method uses Teun van Critical Discourse Analysis (AWK). Dijk which is based on the analysis of the text dimension, the social cognition dimension, and the social context dimension. Data collection techniques in this study apply listening methods and advanced recording techniques, and document review techniques. The results showed that (1) A review of the dimensions of the text showed a reconstruction of the ambivalence and traumatic of Western subjects in the short stories of Iksaka Banu; (2) A study of the dimensions of social cognition shows that the reconstruction pattern of ambivalence and traumatic of the Western subject is used as Iksaka Banu's strategy to carry out traumatic reconciliation of colonized subjects as well as resistance to Western domination and hegemony; (3) A study of the social context shows two findings of the problem, First, the existence of social inequality over the mechanisms of Western domination and hegemony; Second, even so, Indonesian society is still confined by the problem of trauma while awareness of the subject's position on the condition of social reality cannot be managed as a potential resistance

Strategi Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab Yang Mudah Dipahami

Arabic is becoming a very important language in a global context, as an official language in many countries and as an international language. However, the use of Arabic still often faces obstacles in communication effectiveness due to language misuse. Therefore, this study aims to identify acceptable and easy-to-understand Arabic translation strategies. The research method used is a qualitative research method with document review techniques through old manuscripts or previous research results related to this research. The results showed that an acceptable and easy-to-understand Arabic translation strategy involves several steps, such as understanding context, choosing the right words, using simple sentences, using synonyms, and understanding Arabic grammar well. In translation, the principles of self-instruction are also applied, including the use of dictionaries, practice by speaking, reading, and writing in Arabic.

Public Order Policing During Crisis: A Critical Analysis of Police Response in Crises Affected Areas in Ethiopia

Policing is the foundation of a strong state that realizes peace, order, and stability for its citizens. This study attempted to explore public order policing; police response to public disorder in some selected crisis-affected areas in Ethiopia. The study used a qualitative approach with an exploratory research design. Purposive and snowball sampling was employed to select participants for the study. Data were collected through interviews, Focus Group Discussion/FGD, observation, and document review techniques. Regarding participants of the study, 33 key informants from government officials (including prosecutors, experts from peace and security offices in the regions, Human Rights Commission officers, journalists, and police), 20 in-depth interviews with victims and their families, religious and community leaders; and 8 FGDs were conducted with police officers, victims, and community/religious leaders. The data of the study were thematically analyzed. The findings of the study showed that the Police did not play a proactive role because of many factors such as waiting for an order from a higher commandant/ government official, and political infiltration of police officers that immersed them in tricky of partiality. Hence, the crisis resulted in socio-political, economic, and psychological problems in the community of crisis-affected areas. The study concluded that police had minimal preparedness and hence were not successful in managing, preventing, minimizing, or stopping damages. Therefore, police organizations must always do security threat assessments to proactively handle damages due to crises; exercise an empowered decentralized chain of command during a crisis, raise the level of awareness to police officers regarding the police profession, and provide an immediate response to public calls.

The Implementation Management of Inclusive Education Programs at SDN 002 Pulau Palas, Tembilahan Hulu, Indragiri Hilir Regency

The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of Inclusive Education Management at SD Negeri 002 Pulau Palas, including: 1) Education planning, 2) Education implementation, 3) Education evaluation, and 4) Supporting and inhibiting factors for education management of Students with Special Needs (SwSN) at SD Negeri 002 Pulau Palas. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. It was conducted at SD Negeri 002 Pulau Palas. The subjects of this study included: 1 principal, 1 class teacher, 1 special assistant teacher, and 1 student's parent, hhich was in August 2022. The Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document review techniques. After gathering the data, the researchers analyzed them qualitatively. The research results on inclusive education management at SD Negeri 002 Pulau Palas which are currently running in accordance with regulations with planning on the curriculum that contains the vision and mission of SD Negeri 002 Pulau Palas. It uses the K-13 curriculum by modifying the lesson plans, materials, learning media, and learning evaluation in study groups that have SwSN according to their disabilities. The SwSN in SDN 002 Pulau Palas in 2022 there are 24 students with details of disabilities. Supporting factors for the implementation of education for children with special needs at SDN 002 Pulau Palas are schools still implementing inclusive education programs, there are students with special needs in schools, financial assistance from the central government, teachers teachers consistently carry out their duties and functions, adequate learning media are available, communication with parents is quite good. While the inhibiting factors are the lack of special supervisory teachers, teachers have never attended training, there are still parents who do not care about inclusive education programs, and learning media are still lacking.

PCR Swab Examination Flow Model for People with COVID Symptoms / Close Contact with COVID Patients at the Cilincing District Health Center

The Indonesian MOH mentions the vital role of District Health Center where the service prioritizes efforts to improve health and prevent disease, to achieve the highest public health degree. The increase in new positive cases of COVID-19 in Jakarta, which has begun to touch the number of 1000 per day, deserves attention from all elements, both from the government and the community. The community is expected to continue to apply health protocols wherever and whenever it must be maintained properly, correctly and sustainably. For residents of DKI Jakarta, who have symptoms/contact with COVID-19 patients, don't hesitate to check with the Cilincing District Health Center as an effort to anticipate the spread and transmission of the virus. This study is a qualitative study using interview, observation and document review techniques regarding the flow of PCR swab examinations for people who have symptoms or are in contact with COVID-19 patients. Informants in this study were the Contact Tracer and patients who had complaints or symptoms of COVID-19 and were registered at the Cilincing District Health Center. The study was conducted in January 2022. Where the process of checking the PCR Swab at the Cilincing District Health Center is very easy, starting from registration online via the site or scanning the barcode to determine the schedule, coming according to the set time, for results can be checked via a device from home, so there is no need to come back to the hospital. health centers so that examinations are fast, safe and comfortable

DO RESOURCES SUPPORT THE SUCCESS OF EDUCATION CURRICULUM?; VOCATIONAL SCHOOL CONTEXT AT SINJAI

This research sets the goal to identify and document the resources supporting the success of the 2013 curriculum at SMKN 2 Sinjai and to question these contributions based on empirical facts. There are many factors and even cases related to various supporting resources, but in different contexts and places. Qualitative data were collected descriptively-exploratively as an option to see events in objects. The criteria for contributing informants were principals, related teachers and other educators and were selected by purposive sampling. Interview, observation and document review techniques were combined to obtain data and ensured validity through triangulation techniques. The collected data was then analyzed by identified, grouped, verified, synthesized, and compared. Interpretive analysis reveals that various factors and resources have contributed to the success of the learning curriculum such as representative facilities and infrastructure, managerial principals, resource competence and educator collaboration, educator learning management, utilization of learning resources, and use of learning strategies and models. These findings can contribute and have implications for the management of educational curriculum implementation and in different educational institutions.

Student Experiences on Emergency Synchronous Online Teaching in Higher Education

This research aims to reveal university students’ experiences, expectations, and suggestions regarding synchronous online teaching. For this purpose, the study was conducted in a qualitative research case study design. The study group of the research consists of 24 university students. The research data were collected using a semi-structured interview form and document review technique. The data obtained through the semi-structured interview form were analysed using the descriptive analysis technique through the MAXQDA qualitative data analysis program. Research findings show that students have problems accessing devices and the internet. Students and instructors are not competent in using technology and do not have pedagogical content knowledge. The findings reveal that students do not open their webcams and are unwilling to attend and participate in classes because the strategies used in the learning-teaching process are not suitable for classroom interaction. Additionally, students could easily cheat in online exams and had some problems about self-regulation skills. In line with these findings, it has been proposed self-regulated learning framework, formative and authentic assessments and the “community of inquiry” framework.

Exploring the nexus between professional ethics and occupational health and safety in construction projects: a case study approach

Notwithstanding that the construction industry is an enabler of economic growth in developing countries, the industry continues to be susceptible to a myriad of unethical behaviours. While previous research has established that ethical issues have, to a great extent, affected the integrity of and the production in the industry, much less is known about the ethical dilemmas in the context of safety and health performances. Despite that the construction professionals have a moral obligation of ensuring health and safety in the delivering of construction works, previous studies have not dealt with the ethical dilemmas underlying the noncompliance with the occupational health and safety regulations in the industry. To address this gap of knowledge, a case study approach is used to explore the nuances of ethical dilemmas in association with the occupational health and safety performance. For methodology, a semi-structured interviews together with document review techniques were applied in three construction projects in South Africa (SA). A qualitative conventional content analysis revealed five broad themes of health and safety risk factors which could be associated with unethical practices. The findings of this study offer a theoretical insight which assist to understand that addressing the professional ethics in the construction industry is pivotal to the improvement of the health and safety performance in the delivery of construction projects.

Perubahan Semantik Kosakata Serapan Bahasa Asing dalam Bahasa Indonesia

Abstract. This study aims to describe the changes in meaning that occur in foreign language absorption vocabulary in Indonesian. The data source in this study is Indonesian vocabulary absorbed from Foreign languages, namely Dutch and English. The data in this study is a dictionary of foreign absorption words in Indonesian by J.S Badudu. Data collection techniques using document review techniques. This research uses qualitative approach and research type using descriptive method. The results of this study researchers found the words absorption that experienced a change in meaning, as for the word absorption that experienced changes in meaning in the form of expansion, narrowing and total changes. The expansion of meaning is a process that occurs in a word that at first only has a meaning, but then because various factors become have other meanings. The Dutch example of the word "paniek" means panic. The narrowing of meaning is a process that occurs in a word that initially has a broad enough meaning, then changes to be limited to a meaning only. Examples of such emphasis words in English are pressure and heavy points, while the meaning in Indonesian is the pressure on syllables or on words and the emphasis on importance (something). The total change of meaning is a process of changing the meaning that has now been much different from the meaning of the original word. Examples of the word "morgem (BB)" are absorbed in The Indonesian language into besuk. The change in meaning that occurs because of the shift in meaning is the word besuk means making a visit to the hospital to visit people who are sick

A Study of Secondary School Students’ Perceptions of Fictional Characters

<p style="text-align: justify;">Fictional characters give literary works a sense of reality. The actions of fictional characters play a crucial role in children's personality development. Young readers who lack critical reading skills are more likely to incorporate fictional characters into their lives because they have a hard time telling reality from fiction. Therefore, we should determine how children perceive fictional characters and teach them that they are imaginary figures. In this way, we can help them approach those characters' actions from an external and critical perspective. This study adopted a qualitative research design (case study) to investigate secondary school students' perceptions of fictional characters. The sample consisted of 45 secondary school students (28 female and 17 male). Data were collected through interviews and document review techniques. Data were analyzed using content analysis. Results showed that participants were more likely to be interested in and identify with characters with appealing personality traits. They had four types of approaches to fictional characters: (1) Wanting to change the storyline depending on what the fictional character goes through, (2) being influenced by them, (3) seeing them as role models, or (4) ignoring them. They wanted to change the storyline, especially when the villain got what he wanted or when the hero or the victim was unhappy, suggesting that they mostly took the protagonist's side (the good guy). While most participants attributed an ontological meaning to anthropomorphic characters, the symbolic meaning became of secondary importance. They were more interested in and identified more with characters with good living conditions and no death experiences.</p>

Water Related Diseases in Adamawa Region, Cameroon: A Prospective and Retrospective Case Study

Water related disease is defined as any significant or widespread adverse effects on human health, such as death, disability, illness or disorders, caused directly or indirectly by the condition, or changes in the quantity or quality of any water. This crossectional and analytical study, carried out from July to December 2019 at the Ngaoundere Regional Hospital and Protestant Hospital aimed to determine the prevalence of water related diseases in the Vina Division. Retrospective data of patients records covered the period of five years (2014 to 2018) were analyzed in order to identify common water related diseases in the study area. Document review technique was adopted in this study; outpatients/inpatients registers were reviewed and information on socio-demographic characteristics of each individual patient were collected. Also, the bacteriological characterization of stool samples collected from patients was done to identify the most frequent bacteria responsible for water related disease in the area, followed by an antibacterial susceptibility testing of some isolated bacteria using standard methods. Results show that, out of 153073 patients recorded from 2014 to 2019, 63750 were clinically diagnosed for water related diseases, giving a prevalence of 41%. Overall, typhoid fever and malaria were the most prevailing water related diseases confirmed clinically with a prevalence of 43%. Parasitic infections were the least prevailing (3.7%). The study revealed that, females was more prone to water related cases than males. Bacteria were more sensitive to streptomycin and resistant to amoxicillin. This study shows that water related diseases are a major health problem in the Vina Division. Routinely monitoring of drinking water sources is recommended to the different users in order to limit the spread of water related diseases.

“Pırıl” Çizgi Filminin Değerler Eğitimi Açısından Değerlendirilmesi

Crimes such as theft, murder and rape have become quite common today. This situation caused the values education to gain importance. Cartoons have an important place especially in children’s life. For this reason the characteristics of the cartoons that children watch must be well known. In this research “Pırıl” cartoon which is the local production published on TRT Çocuk channel was examined in terms of values education. The document review technique, which is one of the qualitative research, methods was used in the research. The 5 most watched episodes of the cartoon were screened by watching them at least twicw through content anlysis. A table of values was prepared based on Birkök’s classification of values and Maslow’s approach to the Hierarchy of Nedds. All 5 sections were analyzed by categorical content analysis method, one of the content analysis types. In our research values are given in separate titles and exemplified from the parts of the cartoon. At the end of the research 15 values were determined in the cartoon responsibility, courtesy, benevolence, aesthetics, friendship, kindness desire to know and understand, trust, self-confidence, generosity, confort, tolerance, honesty, love and regret. The most included value among this is “courtesy”. In addition the values of “aesthetics and responsibility” are among the very past values.

Metacognition researches in Turkey, Japan and Singapore

<p class="gmail-pa3">In this study, fundamental researches on “metacognition” in Turkey, Japan and Singapore between the years of 2010 and 2020 were examined and conclusions were made in terms of comparative education. For this purpose, the data of the research was collected by document scanning method and the data were analyzed using the document review technique, which is one of the qualitative research method techniques. Years of studies, countries, objectives, research methods, sample working group, data analysis methods and results; it has been examined according to comparative education approaches and data collection techniques. As a result, quantitative research methods are seen to be frequently used in researches on metacognition in these three countries. It has been determined that experimental studies are the main research patterns of the metacognition studies conducted in three countries. Metacognitive awareness scales are the most used data collection tools in all three countries. Considered in general; the research made about metacognition in Singapore Turkey and Japan shows that the studies investigating the relationship between students' problem-solving skills and metacognition are in majority. Researches examining the relationship between metacognition and foreign language teaching are also widely discussed.</p>

The rise of online sports betting, its fallout, and the onset of a new profile in gambling disorder: young people

Hypothesis: Since 2015 the gambling trend may have changed among young people between 18 and 30 years old. Methodology: Range of document review techniques obtained by therapeutic data regarding the personal development of each person in rehabilitation to analyze 13 different variables. Findings: Due to the new regulations legalizing online gambling in Spain, and the constant increase in its advertising, a shift could have taken place in the gamblers’ profile: a preference for online sports betting and placing other bets using devices connected to the Internet, such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, and similar technologies. Gamblers who use online media to place their bets also incur debts over the Internet. We find a possible proliferation of online betting services, that could imply an increase of social, psychological, and family relationship problems affecting young gamblers, which may constitute a new profile of gambling disorder.
