Features of the Use of Communication Skills by Doctors of Various Specialties

Doctors of various specialties, depending on their professional activities, use specific professional communication skills more often in the doctor-patient model. The list of communication skills used by doctors of different specialties differs. A study was conducted at Tver State Medical University aimed at studying the peculiarities of the use of communication skills by internists, surgeons and obstetricians-gynecologists of the outpatient polyclinic level.

The flow of organizational communication has an influence on organizational effectiveness related to the relationship or implementation and achievement of organizational goals. Moreover, the effectiveness of communication depends on several aspects, such as communication events aspect, organizational communication climate, and organizational communication satisfaction aspect, so that all members of the organization can be motivated to achieve the goals of the organization. In order to have a good communication system, a healthy organization generally shows an open management style, both internal and external openness of the organization. This study aims to analyze the internal communication system at Brawijaya University Hospital (RSUB) regarding employee engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic period of January 2022-July 2022 through a communication audit. The audit process is carried out the Medical Approach or Doctor-Patient Model. For the data collection technique is in the form of questionnaires, namely Organizational Communication Inventory and interviews. The sample used in the form of variation of levels at the Brawijaya University Hospital which it is categorized based on the members of the organization position according to the hierarchy or structure that applies at the University of Brawijaya Hospital with a total of 206 people. The results present that the subordinate indicators have the lowest mean value with the most of the respondents in the low category. It indicates that the communication relationships in the workplace with subordinates need to get attention and improvement between the communication relationships with members of the organization. The lack of good communication relation with subordinates is affected by the lack of appropriateness between the superiors working with one of their subordinates which cause poor communication between the superior and subordinates.

Diagnosis of Empathic Abilities of Medical Students

The authors of the article focus on empathy as one of the dispositions related to the emotional functioningin the process of communication, which plays an important role in determining success in a profession. Itis believed that people with higher empathy tend to solve professional, personal problems more readily insubject-subject relationships. The technique for diagnosing the empathic abilities of medical students wasbased on a questionnaire developed by V.V. Boyko. Methods of analytical and synthetic study of scientific andmethodological literature, questioning are applied. For empirical data percent distribution and ranking areused. As a result of the study, the following levels of empathic abilities in medical students were evaluated:rational, intuitive, attitudes, penetration, identification. The authors of the article came to the conclusionthat the empathic abilities of medical students are important and influential factors of communication notonly in the doctor-patient model, but also in their interpersonal communication, academic performance ineducational activities.

How to Put the Consultant to Work in Consulting Teaching

Three models, or approaches to consulting with teachers, are described in this article. In the “purchase” model, the classroom teacher orders a service which is delivered by the consulting professional. The doctor-patient model involves the consultant providing a diagnosis and a prescription for the problem experienced by the teacher. Both of these approaches present the consultant as a person whose expertise is necessary to solve a problem. On the other hand, the process consultation model emphasizes helping the teacher solve his or her own problems. General skill areas necessary for effective process consultation are discussed.
