Following publication, the authors noticed that for some experiments, there might have been cross‐contamination with another catalyst due to an insufficient cleaning procedure by laboratory dish washer only. As it is unclear which experiments are affected, all need to be reproduced. The authors intend to repeat experiments to produce correct data. Since repetition of experiments will take considerable time and the editors cannot be certain that new data will not affect the conclusions of the study, they have decided it is appropriate to retract the article.

Vision Inspection Method for the Quality Assessment of Paint Coatings on Glassware.

Image analysis is becoming increasingly popular in many industries. Its use is perfect for, among other things, assessing the quality of products on or off the production line. Highly automated, high-performance systems can be used for this purpose. However, there are situations in which automated vision systems cannot be used on the production line due to the specific nature of the process. One such situation is testing the resistance of paint applied to glass when washing in automatic dishwashers. It is carried out outside the production line, and typical production vision systems are not used here. An attempt was made to develop a cheap and easy-to-implement research method enabling quantitative measurement of paint loss on glass when testing the coating's resistance to automatic washing. For this purpose, analysis of images taken during the study was carried out. The developed method is based on taking a series of photos of the tested object between each stage of the wash resistance test. The obtained photographic material is then analyzed by measuring the size of paint losses expressed in the number of pixels. Then, the percentage of paint loss is calculated. This method is cheap to implement and highly accurate. Statistical analysis of the results confirmed the method's accuracy at 98%.

Saving resources without sacrificing results: an empirical investigation of the dishwashing reality of British consumers in an international comparison

Abstract Routine household tasks, such as laundry or dishwashing, are complex socio-technical systems in which a variety of factors and actors interact, including manufacturers, technologies, regulators, consumer practices, cultural norms and infrastructures. A deep understanding of these socio-technical systems is necessary to find the right recommendations on how to optimise this system in order to achieve relevant savings in resource consumption without requiring a complete renewal of the infrastructure installed. In our case, we focus on automatic dishwashing in the United Kingdom and try to find out what an optimised consumer use of the dishwashers installed can look like and how many savings can be achieved. Accordingly, we modelled the base of dishwashers installed and conducted a consumer survey on dishwasher usage behaviour in sufficient detail to understand the interplay between the various factors. By simulating a change in usage behaviour, we find a potential energy saving of 21.3 % simply by following basic rules for selecting the appropriate programmes without the risk of a loss of performance.

Evaluating non-consumptive household water uses in a growing urban centre in Nigeria

Efficient use of water could be partly achieved with sound management strategies of the non-consumptive uses (N-CUs) of water in homes being put in place. This research evaluated the non-consumptive water use component in Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria. Data required for the investigation was generated from the administration of 325 questionnaires across the five Quarters into which the town is divided, out of which 269 were completed and retrieved. Both descriptive and inferential analysis of the data were carried out. Descriptive analysis showed that households engage absolutely in different non-consumptive uses such as bathing, clothe washing, drainage cleaning and dish washing while households’ engagement in other N-CUs were in varying proportions. The results of Factor Analysis (FA) revealed that five out of the 13 variables identified and analyzed with a minimum eigen value of 1.000 were strong explanatory variables of 73.674% when engaging in issues relating to N-CUs at household level. These are water use for the following (i) drainage cleaning (16.153%); (ii) Dish washing (15.922%); (iii) Toilet cleaning (14.547%); (iv) Auto-wash (14.238%); and Bathing (12.814%). Regression analysis (RA) of the data revealed that three variables namely clothe washing, Incidental washing and auto-washing were significant (p < 0.001) in generating predictive model of N-CUs of water in homes. The combined results of FA and RA implied that the set of variables in both analysis need to be considered in any issue involving the management and control of N-CUs of water in homes for a result-oriented water use efficiency at household level.

Pemberdayaan Pengolahan Limbah Rumah Tangga Melalui Pelatihan Pembuatan Sabun Dari Minyak Jelantah Pada Warga Desa Brambang Kabupaten Demak

Household waste is the largest contributor to waste in the community. Training on making used cooking oil soap is a method taken for this community service activity. The main objective of this training activity is so that people can utilize used cooking oil waste into items that can be used again. The methods used in this training activity are lectures and small group discussions. Making soap from waste is actually very easy, namely by mixing NaOH, used cooking oil and fragrance. The mixture of ingredients is then stirred for about 15-20 minutes and then left for about two weeks until it completely hardens. Used cooking oil soap can be used as hand washing soap and dish washing soap. Extension activities give a different impression to the people who take part in these activities. Based on participant interviews, the mothers felt happy because they could use used cooking oil waste to make soap. It can be concluded that this soap making training is beneficial for the local community, especially housewive.

Pelatihan Pembuatan Sabun Cuci Piring Berbasis Eco-Enzyme Sebagai Upaya Menumbuhkan Jiwa Wirausaha Siswa SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jember

One of the big problems facing Indonesia is unemployment and waste management. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded February 2023 data that there were still 7.99 million unemployed in Indonesia. In terms of education, the highest unemployment rate (TPT) is experienced by high school (SMA) and vocational high school (SMK) graduates. One of the efforts to reduce the high number of unemployed, Senior High Schools (SMA) are expected to play an active role in producing graduates who can create jobs. The waste problem in Indonesia is also a problem that has not been resolved to date. Indonesia is estimated to produce 187.2 million tons of waste every year, with 60% coming from organic waste. One solution for handling organic waste is the application of Eco-enzyme. The aim of this activity is to provide training in making Eco-Enzyme based dish washing soap as an effort to foster the entrepreneurial spirit of students at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jember. This activity was carried out in the form of direct outreach and training to 75 students. Based on the results of observations of these activities, SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jember has never implemented making dishwashing soap from organic waste. This can be seen from the pre-test with the results that only 21% of students had a good level of knowledge about Eco-Enzyme. Furthermore, the post-test results after carrying out this training, those with good knowledge levels increased to 92%. The pretest and posttest results show that on average the training participants experienced an increase in knowledge and understanding about the Eco-Enzyme-based Dish Soap Making Training, so it is hoped that it can motivate students' entrepreneurial interest by thinking creatively and innovatively.

Household Hazardous Materials Identification and Management Practices Among Residents of Irewole Local Government Area, Osun State, Nigeria

Most emerging world contaminants have been linked to improper management of household hazardous materials and are currently receiving global attention due to the threat they pose to public health and the environment. There are guidelines for the entire management of household hazardous materials, but there exist inadequate information on its identification and management practices at household level. Therefore, the present study was conducted to fill the gap. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 346 randomly selected households in Irewole Local Government Area, Osun State, Nigeria. A validated semi-structured questionnaire and observational checklist were used to gather information. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square at p&amp;lt;0.05. Respondents’ mean age was 34.5±12.8 years, 54.3% were female while 66.8% had attained tertiary education. The major hazardous materials observed in most of the houses were laundry and dish washing detergents (94.1%), insecticide (90.7%) and household disinfectants (88.3%). Fifty-nine percent of the participants mentioned open burning as the most preferred method of disposal of household hazardous materials. The mean practice score was 6.4±1.9, 62.0% had inappropriate practices towards household hazardous materials management. Significantly, 78.5% of the respondents with tertiary education had appropriate practice towards managing household hazardous materials than those who had attained secondary (16.9%) and primary education (4.6%). Laundry and dish washing detergents, insecticide and household disinfectants were observed in most of the houses. Also participants were engaged in inappropriate practices for the management of household hazardous waste. Households should have access to hazardous waste management facilities, and educational information and communication materials to improve their management practices.

Pemberdayaan Ekonomi Rumah Tangga Melalui Pelatihan Pembuatan Deterjen Sabun Pencuci Piring Ramah Lingkungan

Community participation in developing the regional economy is needed. However, with the current condition, people are confused about where to start their business and what kind. Through community service lecturers on training in making dishwashing detergents, it is hoped that this can reduce the burden on the community. Dish washing soap is one of the household necessities which functions as a remover of dirt and grease on eating and cooking utensils. The continuous consumption of dish soap every day causes the need to procure soap at a cost that is not small, especially for women in RT 2 RW 4 Kelurahan Koto Lua Sub-district Pauh Padang. The purpose of carrying out this community service is to provide knowledge and training to mothers about making liquid dish soap in order to reduce community expenditure on purchasing soap as well as to create new business opportunities. In the service activity, the raw materials, work procedures and production costs for making dish soap will be explained. From the activities carried out, partners can produce product output in the form of liquid dish soap according to the method given in the training. The results obtained by training participants were able to recognize ingredients and be able to make dishwashing detergent and increase the skills of mothers in making dishwashing detergent.

Design of An Internet of Things-Based Intelligent Cutlery Cleaning Tool

Technology that continues to develop has given rise to many new technologies that help humans work; one example is washing dishes. Because this work is quite time-consuming, it created an automatic dishwasher based on the Internet of Things (IoT). This tool aims to build a tool that can help homemakers complete one of their homework, namely washing tableware. This research was conducted by making a prototype design using Arduino Mega 2560 and NodeMCU and supported by Android applications using the XML programming language. In the application, there are control and monitoring features. The control feature in the application will control the number of rounds of water used, while the monitoring feature is used to monitor the water discharge used during washing. In addition, this tool also uses Firebase as a database used to store data. By incorporating sensors and technology into this appliance, a more efficient, programmable, and customized washing experience is possible. The appliance underwent 27 tests, with an overall success rate of 88,89%.

This community service was carried out in Pandau Jaya Village, Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. This activity was held on Sunday 24 September 2023 with the theme Training on Making Dish Soap as an Effort to Increase Effectiveness and Business Opportunities for Housewives. Dish washing soap is a product that is really needed in the household to keep kitchen equipment clean. The need for dishwashing soap causes people to have to allocate a large amount of money every month to shop for dishwashing soap. The aim of carrying out this service activity is to provide training and direction on making dishwashing soap in order to reduce community expenditure on purchasing dishwashing soap as well as to create business opportunities for housewives. The method of implementing this service is carried out in two ways, namely the lecture method and practice. It is hoped that the results of this community service activity will increase the understanding and ability of Pandau Jaya village housewives to make dishwashing soap so that it is useful and has an impact on the family economy.

Effectiveness of grease interceptors in food service establishments for controlling fat, oil and grease deposition in the sewer system

The water industry worldwide experiences numerous sewer blockages each year, partially attributed to the accumulation of fat, oil and grease (FOG). Managing this issue involves various strategies, including the requirement for installation of grease interceptors (GIs) installation. However, the claimed efficacy of commercial GIs of eliminating 99 % of FOG has been questioned for many years because FOG deposit formation occurs despite food service establishments (FSEs) using GIs, therefore detailed understanding of FOG wastewater compositions and its removal by GIs is required. This study provides an insight into the key FOG components such as FOG particle size, metals and fatty acid (FA) profile in GI influent and effluent, and within the GI, at three different FSEs. Analysis of FAs identified substantial proportions of extra-long-chain FAs in the effluents, including arachidic (C20:0), behenic (C22:0), mead (C20:3), lignoceric (C24:0), and nervonic (C24:1) acids. In contrast, the household kitchen released palmitic (C16:0), oleic (C18:1) and linoleic (C18:2) acids. It was further observed that scums effectively remove the larger FOG particles, leaving only 10 % below 75.4 μm. Notably, FSEs which employed automatic dishwashers produced up to 80.4 % of particles ≤45 μm, whereas FSEs and household kitchen which used handwash sinks generated only 36.9 % and 26.3 % of particles ≤45 μm, respectively. This study demonstrated that the commercial GIs do not remove FOG entirely but clearly demonstrated that they discharge high concentrations of FOG with extra-long FFAs which were attributed to the occurrence of microbial activity and hydrolysis of triglycerides within the GI, potentially contributing to FOG deposition.

The ladies of the Sakai tribe were the target of Community Service Activities (PKM) on July 26, 2023, pertaining to "Dish Washing Soap Making". The purpose of organizing this PKM is to encourage Sakai tribal women, disseminate information on the production of liquid dishwashing soap, and discuss ways to raise the economic standing of the family

Brevity is the soul of wit – how time, temperature and detergent choice impact the cleaning performance in domestic dishwashers

Abstract In addition to high cleaning performance, many consumers pay special attention to low energy and water consumption in automatic dishwashers. Eco programs are designed to effectively clean normally soiled dishes with low energy and water consumption. However, Eco programs are relatively long and consumer acceptance of programs lasting longer than 2 h is not very high. The vast majority of short programs for lightly soiled dishes consume equal to lower amounts of energy and water than Eco cycles on average. In this study, we investigate the effect of different dishwasher programs on the cleaning performance for a variety of soils using four different market detergents. The results show that the detergent has a major influence on the cleaning result, especially for short cycles and that for certain short cycle/cleaner combinations similar good results can be achieved as with Eco cycles. The data collected were also used to train predictive models to make forecasts on cleaning performance for unknown program parameter combinations, and to examine the multivariate relationships of the program parameters and the cleaners in more detail.

Pelatihan Pembuatan Softener Pakaian dan Sabun Cuci Piring sebagai Alternatif Usaha dan Kegiatan Dharma Wanita Persatuan Kementerian Agama Kota Palangka Raya

Dharma WanitaSatu (DWP) Ministry of Religion of Palangka Raya City decided to hold training on clothes softeners and dishwashing soap based on the current global economic conditions which have not yet stabilized after the pandemic that hit. The purpose of this training is to (1) provide skills to DWP members of the Ministry of Religion of Palangka Raya City in making clothes softener and dish washing soap, and (2) foster enthusiasm for DWP members. This activity is carried out in three stages. First, material about clothes softener and dish washing soap, as well as information about the tools and materials needed, as well as instructions for doing direct practice with the help of an instructor. Second, is the discussion and question and answer process regarding the training carried out. The hope of this activity is that the training participants will be able to practice the techniques for making dishwashing soap and clothes softener in their own homes. Apart from that, this activity can be used as a business opportunity to increase family income.

COMPARISON OF ROUTINE XYLENE AND DISH WASHING SOLUTION WITH LEMON WATER USED AS DEPARAFFINIZING AGENTS

Background: Xylene is an aromatic hydrocarbon known for its wide usage in tissue processing which has many hazardous effects. Objectives: To compare the efficacy of xylene free sections deparaffinized with dish washing soap and diluted lemon water and compare them. Materials and Methods: Using twenty paraffin embedded tissue blocks, three sections each were prepared. One section was stained with conventional H &amp;E method (Group A) and the other two sections with xylene-free (XF) H &amp; E (Groups B and C). Staining characteristics were compared with xylene and scoring was given. Result: There is appreciable nuclear stain, cytoplasmic staining, staining clarity with dishwash and diluted lemon water solution with p value &lt;0.001 in comparison with xylene. Conclusion: This study shows good result in terms of nuclear staining, cytoplasmic staining, and clarity of staining, liquid soap with lemon can be used as alternate to xylene.

The activity of making dishwashing liquid soap and clothes washing soap is interesting for the public because it can increase knowledge about how to make soap. Dish washing soap is an ingredient that has become a daily necessity, especially for housewives. The high cost of dishwashing soap products on the market can be overcome by making your own dishwashing soap with good quality and more economy that can be used for daily needs or for sale. With self-made cleaning soap. This can reduce household expenses for buying market cleaning soap because the soap is made cheaper and more soap products are produced. The aim of this activity is to provide education and training in making dishwashing soap and clothes washing soap that is safe to use to the people of the Katangka area, Gowa Regency. The method used in this activity was in the form of counseling and providing tutorials on making dishwashing soap which were listened to directly by the participants present. The number of participants who attended this service activity was 39 people, all of whom were residents of Katangka Village, Bontonompo District, Gowa Regency. This activity provides results in the form of increasing knowledge and skills for the community regarding making dishwashing soap and clothes washing soap products that are safe to use. This activity went smoothly as planned. Participants are very enthusiastic about taking part in training that can increase their skills and at the same time create new and independent entrepreneurs and turn them into business opportunities. Based on the activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that training in making dish soap and clothes washing soap can increase the knowledge and education of the people of Katangka Village, Bontonompo District, Gowa Regency in making safe washing soap products.

Use of Automatic Dishwashers and Their Programs in Europe with a Special Focus on Energy Consumption

Due to the current high awareness and rising energy costs, the energy label of domestic appliances is an important indicator for consumers when buying a dishwasher. However, not all consumers use efficient Eco cycles on a regular basis. When investigating the use of domestic dishwashers and the chosen programs in a survey with 6090 participants from 11 countries in Europe, it turned out that only 25% used Eco cycles regularly while the vast majority of 48% prefer to use Normal/Auto cycles. We also assessed individual energy and water consumption as well as duration and temperature of the programs. Considering the fact that Eco programs are not well accepted due to their duration, our study shows that Short programs, which on average only last about 30 min and consume little energy and water, might be an economical and convenient alternative to the more time-consuming Eco programs. In fact, some Short programs considered in this study proved to consume less energy for a full dishwasher load (0.74 kWh on average) than the standard Eco programs (0.90 kWh on average), especially due to their shorter duration, but it is important to note that, according to the manufacturer, these programs are designed for rather lightly soiled dishes.

Antibiotics and Antifungal Resistance Patterns of Microbial Isolates from Dish Washing Sponges in the University of Port-Harcourt, Nigeria

This study examined the presence or contamination of bacteria in dishwashing sponges as well as the impact of various disinfectants on sponges. The total number of pathogenic organisms present in 120 sponges was determined using the nutritional agar (NA), MacConkey agar (MAC), Mannitol-Salt agar (MSA), Eosin-Methylene Blue agar (EMB), and Salmonella-Shigella agar (SSA) techniques. The efficacy of various disinfectants was evaluated using bleach, sanitizer, liquid soap, and boiled water for 30 minutes, while the remaining one served as a control sample. The result showed that household sponges had the lowest bacteria load across the five media with a mean bacteria count of 6.98 log CFU/g, followed by restaurant sponges with a mean count of 7.31 log CFU/g, and the highest bacteria load of 7.43 log CFU/g was obtained from hostel sponges. E. coli (40%), Klebsiella sp. (20%), Shigella sp. (15%), Staphylococcus sp. (20%), and Salmonella sp. (5) were the bacteria isolated and identified, whereas Aspergillus niger (65.6%) Penicillium oxalicum (9.4%), and Candida albicans (25%) were the fungi responsible for the contamination. Tarivid 25%, Reflacine 50%, Ciproflox 0%, Augmentin 50%, Gentamycin 0%, Streptomycin 0%, Ceporex 50%, Nalidixic acid 75%, Septrin 25%, and Amplicin 75% are the antibiotic resistant strains that have been identified. Griseofluvin eliminates both fungi at all concentrations that have been tested. Dishwashing sponges can be extremely contaminated, especially those used in the hostels on the University of Port Harcourt's Abuja campus. However, by applying basic and routine disinfection processes, the microbial contamination can be greatly reduced.

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Melalui Efisiensi Penggunaan Seidaan Cuci Piring Sunpit Untuk Masyarakat Pulau Penganpit Agar Lebih Ekonomi

Dish washing soap is an ingredient that has become a daily necessity, especially for housewives. Dish washing soap has the function of removing dirt and grease on eating and cooking utensils. The high cost of washing soap products on the market can be overcome by making your own dishwashing soap with good quality and more economy that can be used for daily needs or for sale. The aim of this community service activity is to provide direct counseling and training about the process of making liquid dishwashing soap so that later it can open up entrepreneurial opportunities to increase family income. The methods used are through lectures, discussions and practice or demonstrations. The results of the activity show that the community is able to make their own liquid dishwashing soap independently, giving them the opportunity to improve the MSMEs in the middle village of Maredan Village.
