Diode-pumped single-frequency Tm:GdVO4 laser at 1897.6 nm

A diode end-pumped Tm:GdVO4 laser at room temperature is reported. The maximal output power of single-frequency is as high as 34 mW by using two uncoated fused etalons, which are respectively 0.05 mm thick YAG and 1mm thick quartz. We obtained the single frequency Tm:GdVO4 laser at 1897.6 nm with the slope efficiency of 1.3%. The single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) laser can be used as a seed laser for coherent wind measurements and differential absorption LIDAR systems.

A comparative study on diode-pumped single-frequency Tm:YAG and Tm:GdVO4 lasers

In this paper, we present experimental results concerning on the laser characteristics of Tm:YAG laser and Tm: GdVO4 laser. At room temperature, the maximum output power of Tm:YAG laser and Tm:GdVO4 laser is 210 and 145 mW, respectively. High efficiency can be achieved for both lasers at room temperature. Nevertheless, compared with Tm:GdVO4 laser, Tm:YAG laser can operate on single frequency with high power easily. As much as 60 mW of 2013.9 nm single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) laser was achieved for Tm:YAG laser. For Tm:GdVO4 laser 51 mW of 1919.7 nm SLM laser was achieved. The SLM Tm:YAG laser is better for using as a seed laser for coherent wind measurements and differential absorption LIDAR systems.

Diode-pumped single-frequency Tm:YAG laser with double etalons

A diode end-pumped single-frequency Tm:YAG laser at room temperature is reported. The maximal output power of single-frequency is as high as 60 mW by using two uncoated fused YAG etalons, which are respectively 0.1 and 1.0 mm thick. We obtained a single frequency Tm:YAG laser at 2013.91 nm. The change of the lasing wavelength on temperature was also measured. The single-longitudinal-mode laser can be used as a seed laser for coherent wind measurements and differential absorption LIDAR systems.

Diode-pumped single-frequency Tm:YAG NPRO laser by using different pumping spot sizes

This paper presents the experimental results of the monolithic Tm:YAG nonplanar ring oscillator (NPRO) pumped by two kinds of laser diodes with different pumping spot sizes. By longitudinal pumping in continuous-wave operation, a single-frequency output power of 404 mW was obtained at room temperature, with a slope efficiency of 48.2%. The influences of the pumping spot sizes on the beam properties were also discussed.

Diode-pumped single-frequency Tm:LiLuF_4 ring laser

We report a room-temperature single-frequency Tm:LiLuF(4) laser with a maximum output power of 120 mW, a slope efficiency of 13%, and a wavelength tunability range from 1875 to 1895 nm. Both frequency and relative intensity noise have been investigated, showing an emission linewidth of approximately 300 kHz over 1 ms observation time and an intensity noise spectrum limited by quantum noise for Fourier frequencies larger than 5 MHz.

Diode-Pumped Single-Frequency Tm:YAG Laser.

Oscillation characteristics of a diode-pumped single-frequency Tm:YAG laser have been investigated. Single-frequency operation is induced by using the etalon and/or birefringent filter in the laser cavity. Single-frequency tuning over 50nm wavelength range has been achieved. In addition, CO2 absorption spectra in the 2μm region have been detected by this laser.
