Healthcare providers' perceptions of infant physical activity and communication.

Healthcare providers (HPs) play a critical role in disseminating information about infant health and development. Two key developmental areas for infants are physical activity (PA) and communication. Few studies have examined HPs views of these topics. Thus, HPs may need support to promote these early development outcomes in infants. Thus, the study explored HPs' perceptions of infant PA and communication. A total of 13 HPs with a wide variety of backgrounds were recruited. Zoom semi-structured interviews were based on the Health Belief Model. Deductive content analysis was utilized to analyze data. HPs knew little about PA guidelines. HPs were concerned about an infant's PA because of limited playtime and tummy time. Most HPs advised parents on PA and motor development milestones, with crawling, walking, and tummy time. HPs also wanted to learn about PA measurement tools. PA promotion was hindered by parents' busy schedules, lack of time, and language barriers. Most HPs advised parents on verbal and nonverbal communication. Many HPs were unfamiliar with communication assessment methods and wanted to learn more. HPs had limited knowledge about PA guidelines and communication measurement tools. Efforts are needed to identify easily accessible ways to educate HPs that could be disseminated to parents.

Living in Italian residential care under COVID-19 restrictions. A survey on adolescents’ perspectives over their psychosocial wellbeing

COVID-19 lockdown has been worldwide considered one of the major collective traumatic experiences for everyone, vulnerable adolescents included. Surprisingly, however, research on the experiences of adolescent living in residential care (RC) – considered it to be particularly exposed to traumas and developmental challenges – has been underdeveloped in the pandemic scenario. Bridging this gap and drawing on a national survey with Italian adolescents living in RC, the current study examines their psychosocial wellbeing, i.e., their perceived subjective and relational wellbeing, during lockdown. In terms of subjective wellbeing, results show increased irritability, but, differently from general population, no sleep quality deterioration. In terms of relational wellbeing, we document a general sense of safeness and protection in RC, a significant sense of being listened to by caregivers, and continuity of care with professionals and keypersons. We confirm and display two distinctive effects as well: a) the “gender effect” – i.e., compared to boys, girls reported higher irritability, and b) the “length of placement in RC” effect – i.e., adolescents living in RC for more than 3 years reported increased irritability and a lower relational wellbeing, counterbalanced by a higher competence in keeping their contact with their schoolmates outside RC. Proposals for targeted psychosocial interventions, limitations and implications for future research in the developmental areas are discussed in the conclusions.

A Case Report on Infant Aural Rehabilitation Using Korean Auditory, Language, and Cognitive Rehabilitation for Infants

The purpose of this paper is to report the effectiveness and significance of aural rehabilitation using the Korean Auditory, language, and cognitive Rehabilitation for Infants (KARI) program. The KARI program was administered to an infant diagnosed with hearing loss at 9 months of age. A total of 45 KARI sessions were conducted for 13 months. Four developmental areas, auditory, language and social communication, overall and vocal and articulatory were evaluated at 10, 15, and 18 months of age for initial, progress, and final tests. After aural rehabilitation with KARI, in the area of auditory development, the infant showed normal range. In the area of language and social communication, the infant exhibited normal receptive language and non-verbal communication skills but showed significant delays in speech due to the diagnosed submucous cleft palate. In the area of overall developmental screening, Korean Developmental Screening Test for Infants & Children scores were at peer level in cognition and social skills. However, gross motor, fine motor, language, and self-help skills were in the range of needing further testing. In the areas of vocalization and articulation, vocalization showed normal range, but articulation development showed delayed development. Although development of expressive language and articulation was delayed due to submucous cleft palate, the overall results showed good progression with KARI in other areas. Therefore, it is hoped that the KARI would be used to promote aural rehabilitation for the infants with hearing impaired.

Nest Biota and Composition of Household Ants in Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State

Household ants are an important group of insect pests because of their close association with man. However, there is less data on their role in the mechanical spread of diseases in the study area. Therefore, this study investigated ant species and the soil microbes in their nest in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Nigeria in August, 2023. A cross-sectional study was carried out in 60 households across three developmental areas using hand-picking methods for ants’ collection as well as soil samples collection from available nests which were transferred in sample containers and transported to the laboratory for ants’ identification, parasitological analysis and culture. 3,015 ants belonging to five subfamilies, 15 genera and 17 species were collected. The most dominant ant was Brachyponera sennaarensis (21.43%), while Solenopsis spp. was least dominant (0.23%). Of the selected ants screened, none had ecto and endo-parasites. Although three (3) species of soil transmitted helminths were found in the soil analyzed using sedimentation method and the modified Baermann’s funnel technique in which Strongyloides starcoralis 16(26.67%) was more prevalent. Ants were also contaminated with (13) species of bacteria of which Escherichia coli was the most frequent (22.63%) pathogenic bacteria. Candida spp. was also recorded in the study. Consequently, Households in the study sites show increasingly high number of ants due to their efficient feeding and nesting activities; this may support the mechanical spread of helminths and soil pathogenic microbes, therefore proper sanitation as well as integrated control measures against ant infestation should be given due consideration.

Enhancing Higher-Order Thinking Skills in Early Childhood Through APE Puzzle Hopscotch: A Quasi-Experimental Study

This study examines the influence of APE puzzle hopscotch on higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in children aged 4-6 years at PAUD IT ADAR Kalasan DIY. Employing a quasi-experimental design, the research included an experimental group receiving the APE puzzle hopscotch intervention and a control group without any intervention. Over four months, pretest and posttest assessments were conducted to evaluate HOTS in both groups. The research instruments measured indicators across analysis (C4), evaluation (C5), and creation (C6). Results revealed significant enhancements in the experimental group’s HOTS, with N-Gain scores showing moderate effectiveness. Statistical tests confirmed the intervention's impact, demonstrating significant differences in post-test scores between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05). The findings suggest that APE puzzle hopscotch effectively stimulates cognitive development in early childhood. Despite limitations such as a small sample size and short study duration, the study underscores the potential of interactive educational tools in enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Implications for educational practice include the integration of engaging tools into curricula to foster HOTS. Future research should address the current study's limitations, validate the findings across different settings, and explore the effects on other developmental areas. Additionally, longitudinal studies could provide deeper insights into the long-term benefits of such educational tools. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on the importance of innovative teaching strategies in early childhood education, emphasizing the role of interactive play in cognitive growth.

Early Detection of Neurodevelopmental Disorders as a Strategy for Educational Inclusion in Early Childhood Education

ABSTRACT The objective of this study is to disseminate the results of a pilot system of early detection of neurodevelopmental disorders in early childhood education centres in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. A total of 280 preschool children, their caregivers and teachers who were recruited from five early childhood education centres participated. Using a three-phase system for early detection of neurodevelopmental disorders, 15 cases were detected with delays in different developmental areas, with adequate levels of sensitivity and specificity. The phases of this system include: 1) Screening for risk of developmental delay, 2) In-depth developmental assessment of children at risk and specialised evaluation for suspected cases of neurodevelopmental disorder and 3) referral to specialised intervention and connecting children with special educational needs to educational inclusion strategy of their schools. A collaborative/interdisciplinary approach was used in which families played a crucial role. Once identified, students with neurodevelopmental disorders benefited from receiving the necessary support for their school progress through educational experiences that foster integrative development. This study provides evidence that supports the usefulness of detecting slow development early in childhood as a strategy to improve the life opportunities of children and encouraging educational inclusion in early childhood education.

Simplified fish larval supply in coastal areas after a dam burst in Brazil

Coastal and estuarine systems play an important role in the maintenance of marine biodiversity, providing nursery, feeding, developmental and reproductive areas for terrestrial and aquatic species. The Fundão dam collapse is considered one of the biggest environmental disasters in Brazil, causing great social, economic and ecological damage in the affected areas. In our study, we used beta diversity and its components as a tool to monitor the spatio-temporal variation of fish larvae in four marine areas adjacent to the Doce River. The results show that the four areas undergo different spatio-temporal dynamics, with the composition of fish larvae in the Doce being simplified in the last years after the dam burst, compared to the other adjacent marine areas. In addition, turbidity is an important factor that has caused the homogenization of the larval composition of the Doce, demonstrating that mud resuspension events can cause a decrease in diversity and also suggesting the toxicity of the mud composition. The change from negative to positive additive and colonizing components in recent years suggests a slight recovery of diversity in the Doce compared to other marine areas. Finally, we have shown that some species may be tolerant to the impact, but with probable behavioral, energetic and physiological costs, which justifies the constant monitoring of these areas.

Equity, diversity and inclusion in simulation-based education: constructing a developmental framework for medical educators

BackgroundThemes of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) arise commonly within healthcare simulation. Though faculty development guidance and standards include increasing reference to EDI, information on how faculty might develop in this area is lacking. With increasingly formal expectations being placed on simulation educators to adhere to EDI principles, we require a better understanding of the developmental needs of educators and clear guidance so that teams can work towards these expectations. Our study had two aims: Firstly, to explore the extent to which an existing competency framework for medical teachers to teach ethnic and cultural diversity is relevant for simulation educator competency in EDI, and secondly, informed by the data gathered, to construct a modified competency framework in EDI for simulation educators.MethodsWe engaged our participants (10 simulation faculty) in a 5-month period of enhanced consideration of EDI, using the SIM-EDI tool to support faculty debriefing conversations focussed on EDI within a pre-existing programme of simulation. We interviewed participants individually at two timepoints and analysed transcript data using template analysis. We employed an existing competency framework for medical teachers as the initial coding framework. Competencies were amended for the simulation context, modified based on the data, and new themes were added inductively, to develop a new developmental framework for simulation educators.ResultsInterview data supported the relevance of the existing competency framework to simulation. Modifications made to the framework included the incorporation of two inductively coded themes (‘team reflection on EDI’ and ‘collaboration’), as well as more minor amendments to better suit the healthcare simulation context. The resultant Developmental Framework for Simulation Educators in EDI outlines 10 developmental areas we feel are required to incorporate consideration of EDI into simulation programmes during the design, delivery and debriefing phases. We propose that the framework acts as a basis for simulation faculty development in EDI.ConclusionsSimulation faculty development in EDI is important and increasingly called for by advisory bodies. We present a Developmental Framework for Simulation Educators in EDI informed by qualitative data. We encourage simulation teams to incorporate this framework into faculty development programmes and report on their experiences.

Реализация совместных проектов в рамках стратегического партнерства для обеспечения устойчивого развития российского бизнеса

This article is devoted to formation and development of strategic partnerships to ensure sustainable business development in Russia. The article presents the author’s methodology for analyzing strategic partnerships, and also outlines the findings of its practical evaluation using the example of the analysis of the following strategic partnerships: Moscow Automotive Plant Moskvitch; Chinese automotive company JAC Motors; Optic Fiber Systems JSC; and the Japanese company Sumitomo Electric Industries. Particular attention is paid to the existing projects of the above companies, which are implemented by them jointly. The analysis has highlighted several developmental areas where these companies could develop their partnership. Also, the author considered several promising areas of cooperation between Russian and foreign companies under the conditions of sanctions pressure.

PYRIDOXINE-dependent epilepsy (PDE): An observational study of neonatal cases on the role of pyridoxine in patients treated with standard anti-seizure medications

BackgroundThe main objective of this study was to evaluate the neurological consequences of delayed pyridoxine administration in patients diagnosed with Pyridoxin Dependent Epilepsies (PDE). Materials and MethodsWe reviewed 29 articles, comprising 52 genetically diagnosed PDE cases, ensuring data homogeneity. Three additional cases were included from the General Pediatric Operative Unit of San Marco Hospital. Data collection considered factors like age at the first seizure's onset, EEG reports, genetic analyses, and more. Based on the response to first-line antiseizure medications, patients were categorized into four distinct groups. Follow-up evaluations employed various scales to ascertain neurological, cognitive, and psychomotor developments. ResultsOur study includes 55 patients (28 males and 27 females), among whom 15 were excluded for the lack of follow-up data. 21 patients were categorized as "Responder with Relapse", 11 as "Resistant", 6 as "Pyridoxine First Approach", and 2 as "Responders". The neurological outcome revealed 37,5 % with no neurological effects, 37,5 % showed complications in two developmental areas, 15 % in one, and 10 % in all areas.The statistical analysis highlighted a positive correlation between the time elapsed from the administration of pyridoxine after the first seizure and worse neurological outcomes. On the other hand, a significant association was found between an extended latency period (that is, the time that elapsed between the onset of the first seizure and its recurrence) and worse neurological outcomes in patients who received an unfavorable score on the neurological evaluation noted in a subsequent follow-up. ConclusionsThe study highlights the importance of early recognition and intervention in PDE. Existing medical protocols frequently overlook the timely diagnosis of PDE. Immediate administration of pyridoxine, guided by a swift diagnosis in the presence of typical symptoms, might improve long-term neurological outcomes, and further studies should evaluate the outcome of PDE neonates promptly treated with Pyridoxine.

Job Conditions and Practice of Private Office-Based Speech-Language Pathologists in Korea: A Cross-Sectional Survey

Purpose: Private speech therapy centers remain an ongoing concern, especially as the primary working environment for speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in Korea. The purpose of this study is to investigate the current working conditions and contents of the speech therapy services of private practice-based SLPs from the perspectives of employed SLPs to find factors that can positively affect future job retention, recruitment, and satisfaction.Methods: This study conducted a web-based survey across Korea targeting private practicebased SLPs. A total of 265 SLPs were invited to participate, and 219 completed the response. The study was divided into three parts, covering demographic information, work type, environment information, service contents, and client-related information, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the current landscape.Results: Regular full-time jobs with social insurance were the most employed types of Korean SLPs in private practice. Fisher’s exact tests showed no significant effects on the type of employment and salary according to the kind of certificate. The location of the private speech therapy center affected the unit price per session. In addition, there was no significant difference in salary level depending on the employment conditions and certificate type.Conclusions: The findings of this study are significant for the field of speech therapy. Despite being the main service of private speech therapy centers, the costs related to evaluation and treatment were found to have lower unit fees than other psychological and developmental rehabilitation service areas. This disparity could potentially impact the recruitment and job retention of private practice-based SLPs. Therefore, it is crucial to consider supporting incentives based on the type of certificate and career, along with fee adjustments suitable for the current reality, to address these issues.

A content analysis of cognitive, emotional, and social development in popular kids’ YouTube

With the explosive growth in time spent on YouTube by babies and toddlers, it’s important to analyze what they’re watching on YouTube. Indexes that evaluate the contents of YouTube channels for infants and toddlers have been developed, but since those were evaluation-based indexes of educators and parents, it is difficult to find out what content children are watching. In this study, the YouTube content that infants mainly watch was content analyzed in three developmental areas: cognition, emotion, and socialization. Specifically, language destruction was analyzed for the cognitive field, verbal and physical violence for the emotional field, and emotional expression, understanding others’ emotions, emotional control, antisocial and prosocial behavior representation, and prosocial expression were analyzed for the socialization. As a result, the emotional index was the highest, and the physical violence index was very low. In general, emotional expression, understanding of others’ emotions, and prosocial behavior, which had a positive effect on early childhood development, were higher than linguistic destruction, verbal violence, and physical violence, which had a negative effect.

Risk factors of delayed developmental milestones among infants attending RCH clinics in Dodoma region. A cross-sectional studydoma region

Background: Delayed Developmental Milestones are defined as slow to attain typical developmental milestones in one or more developmental areas. This study aimed to assess risk factors of delayed developmental milestones among infants in the Dodoma Region. Methods: We conducted a health facility-based cross-sectional descriptive study using the pathways developmental screening tool. A total of 262 mothers with their children were enrolled, the study population were all neonates delivered at the study sites during the study period. Three data collection methods were utilized to obtain information for this study: observation, interviewer-administered questionnaires, and documentary review. Ethical approval was obtained from the Ethical Review Board of the University of Dodoma SAS version 9.4 was used for data analysis. The association between developmental status and factors was assessed with Chi-square and binomial logistic regression. Results: Notably, infants born with birth asphyxia were more likely three times to develop delayed developmental milestones as opposed to those without birth asphyxia [adjusted risk ratio =3.22, 95%, [1.97, 5.46], probability value= <.0001]. Birth weight was significantly associated with delayed developmental milestones; infants who were born with a birth weight of ≥4000gm had more risk of developing delayed developmental milestones compared to those with a birth weight of 2500-3999gm [adjusted risk ratio 0.48, 95%, [0.26, 0.92], probability value = 0.0256]. Regarding mode of delivery, the risk of developing delayed developmental milestones was less among infants born via caesarean section compared to those who were born via spontaneous vaginal delivery [adjusted risk ratio 0.47[0.18, 0.99], probability value = 0.0461]. Conclusion: Delayed developmental milestones are a burden in developing countries. The risk factors are known, and they are based on the individual to the community level; birth asphyxia was identified as a possible risk factor that has been reported in many studies and has an impact on children's development.

Language Assessment in Bilingual Turkish-Speaking Preschoolers With Developmental Language Disorders: A Tutorial

Purpose: Developmental language disorder (DLD) is a common childhood disorder that hinders children from functioning in other developmental areas, such as social–emotional and cognitive domains. Consequently, a comprehensive speech and language assessment of children is of great importance. Of concern, however, is the challenge for speech and language pathologists to assess the speech and language skills of bilingual children. This article aims to inform clinicians, researchers, and other experts working with bilingual Turkish-speaking children with DLD about bilingual language assessment. Method: The current literature on Turkish–English bilingual language acquisition and bilingual language assessment is reviewed, and the general characteristics of bilingual development are reported. In order to understand how the first language affects the second language, a contrastive analysis of the Turkish and English languages is summarized. A case study is described to highlight essential factors to take into account when creating a comprehensive language assessment battery for Turkish, covering all areas impacted by DLD. Results: The results of the proposed language assessment protocol are analyzed, and its practical use is discussed. Additionally, the case study child's strengths and the skills requiring support are interpreted with regard to their implications for daily life activities and prospective academic requirements. Conclusions: This tutorial highlights the importance of comprehensive language assessment for the differential diagnosis of DLD in bilinguals as the most essential step to develop an appropriate intervention program and counseling procedures. Such assessment considers individual as well as cultural differences of children and their family members.

Longitudinal pathways of associations between motor proficiency and physical fitness during earlier and later childhood: The NW-CHILD study.

Understanding the relationships between motor proficiency (MP) and physical fitness (PF) is important for the future health of children, although longitudinal findings of this nature are limited. This study explored the association between MP and PF during earlier childhood (6 and 9 years old) and later childhood (12 years old) in boys and girls. A stratified and randomized research design including a baseline and two follow-up time-point measures (2010, 2013, and 2016) were used. Primary school children (N = 374, boys = 178; girls = 196) were tested with the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor-Proficiency-2, Short Form, and the Test of Gross Motor Development- 2, at ages 6 and 9 years, and with the Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run test at age 12. Spearman Rank Order Correlations and stepwise regression analyses were used to analyze the data. Although of a low magnitude, proof of a dynamic longitudinal, but a stable relationship between MP and PF were found and with different gender-specific relationships in this pathway of association. A small but significant percentage of variation in PF at 12 years could be explained by overall motor competence (MC) and object control skills (OCS) at the ages of 6 and 9 years. Among girls, the association with PF at 12 years was influenced by both OCS, and MC, although only MC contributed to the variation found in boys. Socio-economic status made an insignificant contribution at 6 years to later PF in boys, but not in girls. MC, including OCS during early and middle childhood can be considered as possible triggers of physical activity which again, can increase PF during later childhood. Obtaining early competence in these developmental areas is therefore important to promote positive and sustainable trajectories of health with long-term health outcomes.

Key principles of the KiDD (kids' development diagnosis and determining the risk of autism for children from 1.5 to 6years) methodology development and comparison of results with other methods.

The author outlines the basic principles of creating the KiDD methodology (Kids' Development Diagnosis and Determining the Risk of Autism) for children aged 1.5 to 6years old in the form of a mobile application. Users of the KiDD (parents or specialists) instantly receive information about the general development of the child in comparison with the age at which certain skills emerge. This includes information about the developmental age in months for each developmental area (speech and communication, socialization and behavior, cognitive skills, physical development and self-care), the developmental age for each specific skill of the child (up to 100 skills in each age category from 1.5 to 6years) and the likelihood of autism. Additionally, users receive an automatically generated Individual Development Plan, consisting of skills that follow those that the child already has. The author provides statistical data comparing the results obtained through the KiDD with the results of widely accepted tests for assessing a child's developmental level and the likelihood of autism. The article presents comparative data of the results of 199 participants using the KiDD along with their respective diagnoses and results obtained through testing provided by psychologists and remote assessment provided by parents.

Gender disparity in literacy in Uttar Pradesh: a spatial analysis

Literacy, being one of the most important demographic elements, is a crucial indicator used to measure human progress towards development. It acts as a catalyst for social progress, maximising return on investment in almost all developmental initiative areas. Moreover, female education contributes significantly to raising the state’s standard of living. This study delves into the prevalent gender disparity in literacy rates within Uttar Pradesh, India, with a particular focus on the enrolment of girl children in elementary schools. It assesses the spatial variation in gender disparity in literacy across the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh and finds a correlation between enrolment of girl children (x) and total elementary schools (y) across the districts. The Sopher Disparity Method is used to determine the spatial variation of gender disparity in literacy. Jaunpur, Bhadohi and Mathura are the states with the highest gender disparity level in literacy, while Amroha and Kanpur Nagar account for the lowest disparity level. The dot method is used to show the distribution of total number of elementary schools per district in Uttar Pradesh, presenting that Baghpat, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Mahoba, Shrawasti and Bhadohi are the districts with the lowest concentration of elementary schools, while Azamgarh, Bijnor, Sitapur, Hardoi and Jaunpur are those with the highest concentration. A correlation coefficient of 0.89 has been found between elementary schools and girl child enrolment, which shows a strong positive association. The research highlights the cultural, socio-economic, and infrastructural barriers that impede the enrolment and retention of girl children in elementary schools. By examining existing policies and their impact, the study aims to provide insights into the complexities of gender-based educational disparities. Furthermore, it explores the role of societal norms and economic constraints in shaping the educational landscape for girls in Uttar Pradesh. The ultimate goal is to inform targeted interventions that address the root causes of gender disparity in literacy, fostering a more inclusive and equitable educational environment in Uttar Pradesh.

Maternal prenatal and postnatal psychological distress trajectories and impact on cognitive development in 4-year-old children: the Japan Environment and Children's Study.

Maternal prenatal and postnatal psychological distress, including depression and anxiety, may affect children's cognitive development. However, the findings have been inconsistent. We aimed to use the dataset from the Japan Environment and Children's Study, a nationwide prospective birth cohort study, to examine this association. We evaluated the relationship between the maternal six-item version of the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K6) scores and cognitive development among children aged 4 years. K6 was administered twice during pregnancy (M-T1; first half of pregnancy, M-T2; second half of pregnancy) and 1 year postpartum (C-1y). Cognitive development was assessed by trained testers, using the Kyoto Scale of Psychological Development 2001. Multiple regression analysis was performed with the group with a K6 score ≤ 4 for both M-T1 and M-T2 and C-1y as a reference. Records from 1,630 boys and 1,657 girls were analyzed. In the group with K6 scores ≥ 5 in both M-T1 and M-T2 and C-1Y groups, boys had significantly lower developmental quotients (DQ) in the language-social developmental (L-S) area (partial regression coefficient: -4.09, 95% confidence interval: -6.88 - -1.31), while girls did not differ significantly in DQ for the L-S area. Among boys and girls, those with K6 scores ≤ 4 at any one or two periods during M-T1, M-T2, or C-1y did not have significantly lower DQ for the L-S area. Persistent maternal psychological distress from the first half of pregnancy to 1 year postpartum had a disadvantageous association with verbal cognitive development in boys, but not in girls aged 4 years.

Communication Strategy in Social Conflict Resolution of Residents Affected by the Indonesian Capital City

This research investigates communication strategies between the residents of Nusantara Capital City developmental areas and other groups as they continue grappling with social conflict after the relocation to East Kalimantan. This research was carried out at Security and Social, Cultural, and Community Development of Nusantara Capital City Authority, Deputy. Record data was undertaken through the following processes: face to face interviews with informants, observation and documentation to acquire the necessary data. This type of research employs qualitative research. This study findings establish the fact that most social issues affecting residents and leading to conflict can be dealt with by the strategies employed by the Nusantara Capital Authority through the Deputy Social, Cultural and Community Empowerment. The techniques employed in dealing with social conflict within residents that have been displaced by development of the Nusantara Capital City are are categorized under communication strategies currently classified as informative, persuasive, instructive and human relations communication. Of the strategies involved in the approach, persuasive communication strategies are predominant in managing social conflicts that occur among residents who are affected by the development of the Nusantara Capital City and can influence drastic changes in the behaviour of some of the affected residents who are against development of the Nusantara Capital City. Some of the key determinants for impact of communicable goals type of strategy are Credibility/ Trust; Clear Message and Media used for conveying information, social media as well as the electronic media.

A global multicohort study to map subcortical brain development and cognition in infancy and early childhood

The human brain grows quickly during infancy and early childhood, but factors influencing brain maturation in this period remain poorly understood. To address this gap, we harmonized data from eight diverse cohorts, creating one of the largest pediatric neuroimaging datasets to date focused on birth to 6 years of age. We mapped the developmental trajectory of intracranial and subcortical volumes in ∼2,000 children and studied how sociodemographic factors and adverse birth outcomes influence brain structure and cognition. The amygdala was the first subcortical volume to mature, whereas the thalamus exhibited protracted development. Males had larger brain volumes than females, and children born preterm or with low birthweight showed catch-up growth with age. Socioeconomic factors exerted region- and time-specific effects. Regarding cognition, males scored lower than females; preterm birth affected all developmental areas tested, and socioeconomic factors affected visual reception and receptive language. Brain–cognition correlations revealed region-specific associations.
