The Spatial and Temporal Distribution, Flow Network and its Characteristics of Population in Henan Province

Based on the WorldPop center population data set and the dynamic monitoring data of China 's floating population, this paper analyzes the spatial and temporal changes of regional population and the characteristics of flow network and its influencing factors with the help of ArcGIS spatial analysis and mapping function and geographic detector model. It shows that: The regional difference of population spatial distribution in Henan Province is obvious and extremely uneven, and the population agglomeration speed of Zhengzhou metropolitan zone is obviously accelerated. The regional differentiation of population change in Henan Province is serious, and the population attraction of Zhengzhou is increasing, The population of Undertake industrial transfer zone such as Shangqiu and Zhoukou continued contraction. The population growth area and the population contraction area are more concentrated in space, showing the characteristics of spatial agglomeration. In addition, economic factors are still the main driving factors of population change in Henan Province. The influence of service industry on population change is increasing, and the explanatory power of traditional agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery and manufacturing industry on population change is decreasing. The integrated development of secondary and tertiary industries will further affect the future population distribution pattern of each region.

Spatial distribution, influencing factors and innovative development countermeasures of farmer cooperatives in Hunan Province, China

China’s rural reform is reliant on farmers' cooperatives as a key organization vehicle. It plays an important role in promoting rural revitalization. Such as, realizing the organic connection between small farmers and agricultural modernization. This study used the nearest neighbor index and kernel density estimation to analyze the spatial distribution and structural characteristics of farmer cooperatives in Hunan Province. It revealed the spatial differentiation law of cooperatives. Also using geographical detectors to figure out the main factors that affect the spatial distribution. The results show that: ① Hunan Farmers Cooperatives show significant spatial agglomeration. The overall spatial distribution shows the spatial characteristics of "one core, one circle, and multiple points". And the spatial distribution pattern of "large agglomeration, finger-shaped radiation distribution". Among them, the distribution of provincial demonstration cooperatives is relatively balanced. ② Cooperatives in six types of industries, such as planting, forestry, and feeding, showed agglomeration distribution. Different industrial cooperatives spread out in different ways, such as in an anti-"L" shape, a dual-core shape, or a one-center area. ③ The 24 influence factors selected from the five dimensions of the natural environment, social economic basis, production basis, output capacity, and facility basis have high, general, and weak influence on cooperatives' spatial distribution. The development and distribution of cooperatives mainly depend on resource endowment, social and economic development level, and market dependence. The spatial distribution heterogeneity of different professional cooperatives is mainly affected by slope, per capita disposable income of rural residents, road density, and other factors. ④ The progression of farmer cooperatives in Hunan Province should prioritize high-quality development, emphasizing the need for innovative approaches and transformative strategies within rural industrial organizations. It is imperative to optimize the spatial distribution of cooperatives, strategically contributing to the establishment of a novel framework for modern agricultural development in Hunan Province. Additionally, there is a critical emphasis on spearheading collaborative initiatives among cooperatives of varied industrial types, aimed at fostering the integrated development of rural primary, secondary, and tertiary industries.

Nonlinear analysis of tertiary industry on trade globalization-environment nexus in Yellow River Basin in China: evidence from panel smooth transition regression

ABSTRACT Trade globalization has broken down barriers between countries and has also brought opportunities and challenges to the global environment. This paper examines whether tertiary industry improves the nexus between globalization and the environment in the Yellow River Basin (YRB) in China. This is done by using panel smooth transition regression (PSTR) covering 30 years, from 1992 to 2021. The results confirm that emissions reduction benefits from the development of tertiary industry, while tertiary industry contributes to the global response to the increase of carbon emissions and to the fight against climate change. The development of the tertiary sector has deepened the influence of urbanization on emissions. Although economic growth means emissions keep increasing, the rapid development of tertiary industry alleviates the negative influence of the economy on CO2 emissions. Some implications are proposed, based on the findings.

Study on the Impact of RMB Exchange Rate on China's Industrial Structure Adjustment

This paper firstly summarizes the current situation of China's current industrial structure as well as the change of exchange rate system, systematically describes the research object of this paper, and outlines its main features. After that, this paper analyzes the impact of the real effective exchange rate of RMB on China's secondary and tertiary industries for the purpose of the study, takes into full consideration the main factors affecting the industrial structure, selects a large number of control variables, and completes the empirical analysis of China's overall as well as the eastern, middle and western regions by using the panel data of the country's 30 provinces in the 16-year period from 2005 to 2020. In addition, a variety of robustness tests were conducted to fully ensure the stability and interpretability of the model. It is finally concluded that the appreciation of RMB exchange rate will significantly benefit the development of China's tertiary industry, promote the industrial structure from the secondary industry to the tertiary industry, and complete the upgrade of industrial structure. Specifically, for every 1% increase in the real effective exchange rate of RMB, the proportion of tertiary industry in the GDP of the whole country, the east, the center and the west will increase by 0.7850%, 0.7171%, 1.0186% and 0.4873% respectively. Besides, this paper also verifies the indirect impact of the exchange rate on the industrial structure through the three paths of price effect, foreign trade openness and FDI, and verifies the existence of the intermediary effect. According to the empirical results, the price effect, FDI, and the increase of foreign trade openness will promote the advanced industrial structure of China. But both FDI and foreign trade openness are negatively correlated with the exchange rate, which is the core variable of this paper.

Exploring the Economic Development Model of Culture and Tourism Integration--Taking Beijing Hutong Tour as an Example

The integrated development of cultural and tourism industry has become one of the important trends in the development of tertiary industry in various countries, which can effectively stimulate the vitality of related industries, give full play to resource advantages, and promote the high-quality economic development of the region. This paper analyzes the economic development mode of cultural and tourism industry integration, and analyzes its influencing factors and effects in detail. There are four main factors affecting the development of the integration model of culture and tourism: resource elements, technological innovation, consumer demand and government regulation. And its effects include positive and negative effects, which can be analyzed from three aspects: economy, society and environment. At the same time, this paper analyzes the cultural and tourism integration of Shichahai Hutong in Beijing, China, and puts forward corresponding measures and suggestions according to its integration status, effects and problems, so as to promote the efficient development of cultural and tourism integration of Shichahai Hutong.

Potential and critical pathways of CO2 emissions reduction: A city-based study

China has put forward the "Dual Carbon" target, carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. It is necessary to study the current situation of carbon emissions, carbon reduction potential, and decarbonization paths of industrial cities in China. Taking Wuhan, a typical industrial city, as an object, anthropogenic carbon emissions and distribution in Wuhan in the last 20 years are analyzed. The extended STIRPAT and the gray relation models are adopted to construct a decomposition model for discerning the driving factors of carbon emissions in Wuhan. Besides, a scenario-driven carbon emission projection system with five development scenarios is established, where carbon sinks from the ecosystem and CCUS technology and the decoupling status of “CO2 emissions-GDP” are considered, to assess Wuhan's carbon emissions reduction potential and decarbonization pathways by 2060. The results show that Wuhan's carbon emissions mainly come from the industrial and transportation sectors and that the increase in the share of tertiary industry and the decrease in carbon intensity are the main factors curbing Wuhan's carbon emissions. To realize the “Dual Carbon” target, Wuhan's decarbonization development should start with the ISI (Industrial Structure improving) scenario and focus mainly on the development of tertiary industry between 2022 and 2035. Between 2035 and 2045, the decarbonization development transitions to the BID (Comprehensively improving) scenario, which requires simultaneous accelerating improvement of the city's economy and energy structure. Finally, carbon neutrality can be achieved between 2050 and 2060 through ecosystem carbon sinks and technology carbon sinks.

How Can the Digital Economy Promote the Integration of Rural Industries—Taking China as an Example

The rapid development of China’s digital economy has promoted the digital transformation of Chinese society and become a new driving force for China’s social development. Furthermore, increasing farmers’ income is the central task of China’s “three rural issues” project, and the integrated development of primary, secondary, and tertiary rural industries is an important way to revitalize rural industries and broaden farmers’ income channels, so it is very important to promote the integrated development of rural industries. In the context of the rapid development of China’s digital economy, it is of great significance to study how the digital economy promotes the integration of rural industries. Therefore, this study analyzed how China’s digital economy promotes the integration of rural industries by using the panel data and regression models of 30 provinces (municipalities and districts) in China from 2011 to 2021. The results show that (1) there is a significant positive relationship between the development level of the digital economy and the level of rural–industrial integration and that the development of the digital economy promotes the process of rural–industrial integration; (2) intermediary effect analysis shows that as the digital economy promotes rural–industrial integration, scientific and technological innovation levels and rural human capital are important intermediary channels; and (3) spatial analysis shows that the development of the digital economy can not only promote the integration of rural industries in the province but also have a positive spatial spillover effect on neighboring provinces. Therefore, it is necessary to create a good atmosphere for the development of the digital economy, constantly promote the development of the digital economy, pay attention to scientific and technological innovation and rural talent training, and promote the integration and coordinated development of the digital economy and rural industries between regions in order to improve the level of rural–industrial integration and contribute to the rural revitalization strategy.

Digitalization Driving High-Quality Converged Development of Rural Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Industries: Mechanisms, Effects, and Paths

The convergence of rural primary, secondary, and tertiary industries is an effective way to establish a modern rural industrial system. The digital transformation of rural industries is a new idea to promote high-quality converged development. This paper focuses on the converged development of China’s rural industries, trying to explore the impact of digitalization on the high-quality converged development of China’s rural industries. Firstly, the mechanisms of digitalization driving rural industrial convergence are revealed. Secondly, we use panel data of 30 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) in China from 2011 to 2020 to empirically test the impact of digitalization on rural industrial convergence. Finally, considering the regional differences in industrial structure, the non-linear impact of digitalization on rural industrial convergence is examined. The results indicate digitalization has a significant positive effect on rural industrial convergence, and the impact of the latter has a dual threshold effect with regional heterogeneity based on industrial structure. Therefore, it is suggested to accelerate the construction of digital infrastructure, strengthen digital application, promote regional coordinated development, and improve the institutional system, which are expected to contribute to a deeper connection between digitalization and rural industries.

Can Ecological Governance Policies Promote High-Quality Economic Growth? Evidence from a Quasi-Natural Experiment in China

The implementation plan of the National Ecological Civilization Pilot Zone (Jiangxi) is an experimental policy aimed at exploring the path of ecological value realization, optimizing industrial structure, and ultimately promoting the green economic development of cities in ecologically distressed areas based on good ecological protection and construction. Its policy objectives are as follows: (1) provide policy references for the development of other ecologically distressed areas in other Chinese territories, and (2) achieve a win–win situation for both ecological improvement and economic development and promote the harmonious development of humans and nature. This study considers China’s ecological governance pilot policy as a “quasi-natural experiment” based on a panel of 81 Chinese cities in Jiangxi Province, China, from 2014 to 2020. A DID model is constructed to study the impact of China’s ecological governance policies on the quality development of Chinese cities in four dimensions: economic development, economic structure, ecological environment, and the disposable income of residents. The following impacts are observed: (1) Ecological governance policies have insignificant effects on GDP promotion, and the above findings still hold after a series of robustness tests, such as the parallel trend test and PSM-DID and placebo tests. (2) Ecological governance policies can significantly improve the rationalization of the economic structure, promote the improvement of ecological environments, and increase the disposable income of residents in the pilot cities. (3) Due to the strong control of local governments over regional economies in China, the stronger the government intervention in the economy, the greater its effect on policy inhibition. (4) The economic structure of ecologically distressed regions is relatively homogeneous, and the primary industry makes up a high proportion of agricultural production. Since China abolished agricultural taxes in 2006, local governments are unable to obtain government tax revenues from agricultural production. The ecological management policy can not only protect land fertility but also reduce the over-exploitation of land resources. It can indirectly increase the scale of agricultural production per unit of land (i.e., the same land resources can create more output value), prompt the transfer of agricultural labor to secondary and tertiary industries, and promote the development of secondary and tertiary industries, which in turn improves the source of local government tax revenue. Moreover, the increase in government tax revenue can increase investment in ecological environments. This in turn increases the tax revenue of local governments, and the increase in government tax revenue can increase investments in ecological and environmental management; this eventually results in a green and high-quality development path with respect to the positive cycle of ecological protection and economic development. Therefore, the scale of agricultural production per unit of land and government tax revenue are important mediating variables for ecological environment improvements, and the mediating effect is obvious.

Impact of City Forests on Haze Reduction—Implementation of the National Forest City Policy in China

The construction and development of China’s forest cities revolves around the goal of building an environmentally friendly society and achieving harmonious development between human beings and nature, which is essentially the implementation of the concept of green development and helps promote the sustainable development of sustainable cities. Based on the panel data of 263 prefecture-level cities in China from 2001 to 2020, the National Forest City Policy (NFCP) is used as a quasi-natural experiment to assess the effect of NFCP on haze pollution management and their heterogeneity using a time-varying DID (difference-in-differences) model, and a mediating effect model is used to analyze the mechanism of the effect of NFCP on haze pollution. The research found that (1) the NFCP can reduce urban haze pollution, and this finding remained robust after placebo tests and the replacement of explanatory variables; (2) the NFCP is more conducive to reducing haze pollution in the Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration, Type II large cities, cities in the eastern region, and cities east of the Hu Huanyong line; (3) the NFCP will improve urban green space coverage, raise residents’ awareness of environmental protection, and promote the development of tertiary industries, thereby promoting urban haze reduction.

Travel exhibitions have gradually become an emerging force in the modern service industry. It can improve the visibility of cities, promote tourists" travel intention in the field, as well as play a huge role in the economic development of cities, especially in the development of tertiary industries and the creation and operation of city brands. There are many studies on the city image and intention to revisit after tourist’s travel, but the studies on the city image and travel intention before travel are neglected. This study attempts to establish a model of the factors of influence the pre-travel travel exhibition promotion on city image and travel intention. A sample of 404 valid questionnaires was collected and analyzed by non-random sampling, centering on the Guangzhou International Public Art Travel Exhibition. The study found that travel exhibitions have a significant positive influence on city image and travel intention, pre-travel city image has a significant positive influence on travel intention, and travel exhibition promotion has a significant mediating effect between city image and travel intention. Therefore, travel exhibitions provide people with another way to understand the city"s image and become one of the factors influencing people"s travel decisions. Meanwhile, travel exhibitions also play an important role in city image and travel promotion. The conclusions of this study are intended to provide a reference for travel exhibition operators and managers.

Digital economy leads the integrated development of rural primary, secondary and tertiary industries

The rapid development of the digital economy has driven the digital and intelligent transformation and development of rural primary, secondary and tertiary industries, which has a revolutionary impact on the ways and paths of agricultural transformation iteration and rural industrial integration development. The integrated development of primary, secondary and tertiary industries in rural areas is a key measure to continuously promote rural revitalization. Study on the Relationship between Economic Growth and Air Pollution in the Pearl River Delta Region

To solve the problem of balancing the relationship between economic growth and air quality in the pearl river delta (PRD) region, based on selecting the indicators characterizing the environmental quality of the PRD region (i.e., the concentrations of four pollutants such as O3, SO2, NO2, and PM10) and the GDP of its three major industries during 2006-2021, this paper established a multiple linear regression model of the relationship between economic growth and air pollution in the PRD region, using E-Views and SPSS software. The results show that: the growth of the GDP in primary and tertiary industries in the PRD region will lead to the reduction of the concentration of air pollution; the growth of the GDP in secondary industries will lead to an increase in the concentration of air pollution. The suggestions based on the results are as follow: shifting the focus of industrial development, paying attention to the prospect of tertiary industry development, and continuously promoting the prevention and treatment of air pollution.

A diferencia de los estudios anteriores, este estudio pretende investigar los efectos del turismo en las emisiones de carbono a nivel de ciudad y el mecanismo moderador subyacente.ConclusionesLos resultados muestran que tanto las llegadas de turistas como los ingresos por turismo influyen significativamente en las emisiones de carbono. Además, existe una importante heterogeneidad temporal y espacial de estos efectos. El desarrollo económico aumenta significativamente, mientras que la tecnología verde y el desarrollo de la industria terciaria suprimen la relación positiva entre el turismo y las emisiones de carbono. Además, en lo que respecta al impacto sobre las emisiones de carbono, existe una sustitución explícita entre el turismo y el desarrollo de la industria terciaria.Originalidad/valorPor primera vez, este estudio estima cuantitativamente los moderadores del impacto del turismo en las emisiones de carbono y concluye los efectos moderadores del crecimiento económico, el progreso tecnológico y la estructura industrial, lo que permite avanzar en la comprensión teórica de la heterogeneidad de la asociación del turismo con las emisiones de carbono. El artículo también resuelve una carencia técnica de los estudios anteriores al demostrar la fiabilidad de las conclusiones mediante diversas pruebas de solidez. Este es también el primer estudio empírico que examina sistemáticamente la relación entre el turismo y las emisiones de carbono en China.

An empirical analysis of the prosperity of tertiary sector and residents' income and employment--Sample data of Zhejiang, Anhui and Sichuan provinces from 2006 to 2020, for example

With the rapid development of China's economy, the tertiary industry has become the main force driving China's economic growth and absorbing employed people. The article conducts an empirical analysis of the relationship between the development of China's tertiary industry and residents' income and employment. This paper applies the panel data of a total of 48 cities in Zhejiang, Anhui and Sichuan provinces from 2006 to 2020 to regress the tertiary industry development on residents' income and residents' employment respectively, obtaining three results: (1) the tertiary industry has the most significant pulling effect on residents' income in each province.(2) the output value of the tertiary industry shows a negative correlation with the number of residents' employment, but the number of employed people in the tertiary industry is negatively correlated with the number of employed people. (3) there is regional heterogeneity in the income and employment of residents in different regions affected by the development of the tertiary industry. Finally, the paper proposes policy implications for the development of tertiary industry in China.

The Response of Ecologically Functional Land to Changes in Urban Economic Growth and Transportation Construction in China.

Understanding the impact of urban economic growth on ecologically functional land (EFL) change and the relevant mechanisms is necessary for adaptive ecological management and regional policy. The present study aims to explore the relationship between EFL change, urban economic growth and transportation construction based on reliable land survey data from 2000 and 2015, as well as natural and socio-economic data for over 2600 counties in China. We use the Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS) technique to empirically analyze the temporal changes in their relationships and alleviate endogenous bias and use the Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) model to explore the spatial heterogeneity across the country. The results indicate that the secondary and tertiary industries' development had a significantly negative effect on EFL changes, and transportation construction is a major driver of urban economic growth in China, especially in the central region. From 2000 to 2015, the negative impact of urban economic growth on EFL changes decreased, and the contribution of transportation construction to urban economic growth increased. The regions (such as the central region) where transportation construction contributes more to the secondary and tertiary industries had a proportionally greater reduction in EFL. It appears that excessive dependence on transportation to drive the development of secondary and tertiary industries is the underlying reason for EFL reduction. The findings of this study can assist in formulating regional policies and advancing the coordination of urban economic development and ecosystem protection.

The Integration of Traditional Transportation Infrastructure and Informatization Development: How Does It Affect Carbon Emissions?

With the advent of the “Information Era”, the development of an integrated infrastructure, which involves the integration of traditional transportation infrastructure and informatization development, has become a new impetus for economic growth. Meanwhile, its environmental performance remains uncovered. Using data from 30 Chinese provinces between 2013 and 2020, this study designed an index system and constructed the coupling coordination degree model to assess the development level of integrated infrastructure. The regression model was established to examine the nonlinear effect of the integrated infrastructure on carbon emissions. The influencing mechanism was also discussed through identifying the impacts of integrated infrastructure on the energy intensity, industrial structure, and technological innovation. The evaluation of the evolutionary trend showed that the level of integrated infrastructure continues to improve and displays a feature of “higher highs, lower lows”, although the regional disparity was significant. The regression analysis showed that there was an inverted U–shaped relationship between integrated infrastructure and CO2 emissions. It is also found that most provinces were below the turning point. In the mechanism analysis section, we can demonstrate that integrated infrastructure can enhance energy intensity, which might hamper reductions in emissions. However, an integrated infrastructure facilitates the development of tertiary industry, which can lead to lower carbon emissions. Based on the conclusions, some insightful policy implications are provided.

Key Sustainable Factors for Recreational Fishery Development Under Rural Revitalization Policy

With the promotion of rural revitalization policies, coastal cities have begun to actively develop recreational fisheries for local social and economic benefits. The recreational fishery is the future development trend of the fishery and leisure industry. Thus, this study aims to construct a set of indicators to objectively evaluate the key success factors of recreational fisheries development under rural revitalization policies. For the evaluation, relevant supporting measures are analyzed, and industry strategies are formulated. This study is conducted through a literature review and by applying the Delphi method. Through two rounds of measurement by experts and scholars, the key success factors and a set of indicators of recreational fishery development under rural revitalization policy are found. Six important dimensions are proposed, including fishery resources, environment, accommodation, services, activities, and recreational fisheries policy. After the analysis of the central tendency, 52 factors for the development of recreational fisheries are defined. The most important dimensions for recreational fishery are found to be resources and environmental conditions, followed by service conditions, activities and policy conditions, and accommodation conditions. Among them, experts and scholars are concerned about the four indicators: "Tasting delicious aquatic products", "Government support: whether the government has included the project into development and support", " Recreational fishing activities pricing" and "Talent revitalization: cultivating talents for the development of secondary and tertiary industries in fishing villages". The following suggestions are put forward with the result: (1) making recreational fishery an important object of my country's rural revitalization policy, (2) using each indicator as the basis for policy implementation, and (3) establishing a recreational fishery promotion group. At six levels, key implementation strategies are proposed.
