Challenges and opportunities of digital transformation in Ukrainian education

An important and necessary trend in the modern Ukrainian education system is the digitalisation of the educational process due to the forced transition of many educational institutions to distance learning due to the coronavirus pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war. The purpose of the article is to theoretically substantiate the challenges and opportunities for the introduction of digital learning technologies in Ukrainian educational institutions. The following methods were used to write the article and to reveal its purpose: conceptual and terminological analysis, comparative and contrastive analysis, analysis, synthesis, comparison, classification, systematisation and generalisation. The study found that, despite the many opportunities provided by the digital learning environment, including the development of software applications for the development of students' practical experience and access to high-quality and diverse sources of information, the education system in Ukraine needs to rethink the content, determine models of digitalisation of educational institutions, master the digital competencies of all participants in the educational process, and actively use the tools of Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Cisco Webex, It is determined that the services are not without drawbacks in use, but their effective use contributes to digitalisation. The scientific novelty of the obtained results lies in the interpretation of the concept of “challenges of introducing digital technologies in education” and the identification of the main obstacles and ways to ensure the process of digitalisation of education. The conclusions recommend ways to overcome the difficulties of digitalisation of education, in particular, the need to create a model of digital transformation of an educational institution based on three models: a functionally independent model of information management; a concentric model of information technology for digital transformation of an educational institution; and a model of interlayer information interaction. Prospect for further research is to study the mechanisms for adapting teacher training systems to the use of digital technologies in the classroom.

Development of Arduino applications for IoT applications in software engineering education: a systematic literature review

The continuous development of software applications is a necessary step in producing high-quality products that will consistently meet end-user expectations and stakeholder needs. Development of Arduino applications, embedded in a product’s hardware, can and should be considered at the software engineering phase itself, even though current practice dictates it be handled by product engineers. The method used in this investigation was based on a systematic literature review (SLR). Therefore, this paper depicts a gap that currently exists within the body of literature surrounding the development of Arduino applications for ‘internet of things’ (IoT) applications in software engineering education in commercial and research fields. The result of this study are two findings investigates: i) relevant Arduino application development used in software engineering and ii) method for applying software engineering for Arduino applications. The limitations and constraints of each technique in respect to Arduino apps were also examined in order to provide a better understanding of each body of study's weaknesses and strengths. We realise that these studies are still insufficient and need to be evaluated and improved further.

Regional-scale fault-to-structure earthquake simulations with the EQSIM framework: Workflow maturation and computational performance on GPU-accelerated exascale platforms

Continuous advancements in scientific and engineering understanding of earthquake phenomena, combined with the associated development of representative physics-based models, is providing a foundation for high-performance, fault-to-structure earthquake simulations. However, regional-scale applications of high-performance models have been challenged by the computational requirements at the resolutions required for engineering risk assessments. The EarthQuake SIMulation (EQSIM) framework, a software application development under the US Department of Energy (DOE) Exascale Computing Project, is focused on overcoming the existing computational barriers and enabling routine regional-scale simulations at resolutions relevant to a breadth of engineered systems. This multidisciplinary software development—drawing upon expertise in geophysics, engineering, applied math and computer science—is preparing the advanced computational workflow necessary to fully exploit the DOE’s exaflop computer platforms coming online in the 2023 to 2024 timeframe. Achievement of the computational performance required for high-resolution regional models containing upward of hundreds of billions to trillions of model grid points requires numerical efficiency in every phase of a regional simulation. This includes run time start-up and regional model generation, effective distribution of the computational workload across thousands of computer nodes, efficient coupling of regional geophysics and local engineering models, and application-tailored highly efficient transfer, storage, and interrogation of very large volumes of simulation data. This article summarizes the most recent advancements and refinements incorporated in the workflow design for the EQSIM integrated fault-to-structure framework, which are based on extensive numerical testing across multiple graphics processing unit (GPU)-accelerated platforms, and demonstrates the computational performance achieved on the world’s first exaflop computer platform through representative regional-scale earthquake simulations for the San Francisco Bay Area in California, USA.

Web-based application software for Judd-Ofelt analysis of Eu3+ ion luminescence

This article reports on the development of a new Web-based application software for calculating Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters and derived quantities from the emission spectra of Eu3+ doped compounds. The application was entirely developed in JavaScript, and it is compatible with all major browsers. The web application can be accessed via the following link https://sciapps.sci-sim.com/judd_ofelt_analysis_Eu.html. Test samples of ZnO doped with different amounts of Eu3+ were synthesized using the combustion method, and their radiative properties and the chemical environment in the Eu surroundings were thoroughly investigated by Judd-Ofelt intensity and the derived parameters using the online application. In contrast to the tediousness and time-consuming process of these types of calculations, by using this online software, all intensity parameters and the derived quantities can be obtained within a short time.

Evolution of DevOps: Lessons learned for success as part of digital strategy

The objective was to investigate the good practices that must be followed to implement DevOps culture to accelerate the development of software applications in shorter periods and unify the story so they can work hand in hand. The research was under a qualitative approach and a review of references to provide information on the terms and development methodologies used. Finally, to put DevOps into practice, it is necessary to understand that, even if you have the best tools available, if you do not have the culture, you will not get better results since it is a combination of good practices to be able to function. In this sense, to collaborate with this culture change, the support of trained leaders is essential, who support and sponsor the new way of working, where all areas of the company can be integrated.

THE POSSIBILITIES OF USING PARALLEL PROGRAMMING USING PYTHON

This article explores the development of parallel software applications using the Python programming language. Parallel programming is becoming increasingly important in the information technology world as multi-core processors and distributed computing become more common. Python provides developers with a variety of tools and libraries for creating parallel applications, including threads, processes, and asynchronous programming. This topic covers the basics of parallel programming in Python, including the principles of thread and process management, error handling, synchronization mechanisms, and resource management. He also considers asynchronous programming using the asyncio library, which allows you to efficiently handle asynchronous tasks. In addition, this topic raises issues of optimization and profiling of parallel applications, as well as explores distributed parallel programming using third-party libraries and frameworks. He also emphasizes the importance of testing and debugging in the context of parallel programming. Research and experiments in parallel programming using Python help developers create high-performance and efficient applications that can effectively use multi-core systems and distributed computing. This article offers an in-depth study that examines how Python is suitable for teaching parallel programming to inexperienced students. The results show that there are obstacles that prevent Python from maintaining its advantages in the transition from sequential programming to parallel.

Numerical simulation of the dynamic problem of a generalized system with distributed parameters

Introduction. Questions of mathematical modeling of the dynamic problem in the form of a generalized system with one degree of freedom are discussed. Such systems include high-rise tower-type structures. Seismic stability of unique tower-type objects represents a relevant research problem.Aim. To determine the stress-strain state of a studied object under the action of external factors in the form of an earthquake accelerogram.Materials and methods. The methods of structural mechanics, dynamics of structures, and numerical simulation were used. The Lagrange equation was used as a basis for obtaining the motion equation of a generalized system with distributed parameters. The research methodology also included mathematical modeling of the considered systems, their numerical analysis, comparison of the obtained results with literature data.Results. A mathematical model was developed to investigate the stress-strain state of engineering structures under various external, including seismic, effects. The differential equation of the generalized system is solved directly using the method of successive approximations and the Duhamel integral at each time step. The developed algorithm was used to compile a software application in the FORTRAN language followed by obtaining the kinematic and static data of the investigated object. Using the example of a tower-type structure, free vibrations from the action of an instantaneous impulse were investigated. The results from a given earthquake accelerogram are presented.Conclusions. The results obtained on the free vibrations of the object under study agree well with those obtained by numerical simulation. The results obtained by numerical differentiation are effectively identical with those obtained by numerical integration, under the action of various effects. The validity of the results is confirmed by comparing the results obtained by the two methods. The developed software applications can be used for monitoring the state of unique tower-type objects.

The Sport Applications and Implementations of Augmented Reality(AR) Technologies

New generation digital technologies are being applied in new areas every day. Augmented Reality (AR) technology is already being actively used in many different sectors from healthcare to art and education. Recently, studies about AR technologies supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI) were detected. In this study, AR technologies used in sports were studied and research was carried out on the steps of implementation and application with Unity software and briefly demonstrated. In addition, the first AR applications in sports were analysed and information about their development processes was given. Then, AR development software development kits are explained. In addition, some researches in the literature about athletes and AR applications are also mentioned in this study. Information was also given about Unity Mars, a special application development software for AR, which will be published in the following years.

Using Solidworks Simulation tool for automated design of drying chambers and study of their operation parameters

The paper proposes a modern approach to the automated design of three-dimensional models of wood drying chambers and the study of their operation parameters using the SolidWorks Simulation tool, which makes it possible to create various information models using computer tools. Therefore, in this paper, a three-dimensional model of a wood drying chamber was developed and presented, which includes its main components: walls, ceilings, door, stacks of lumber to be dried, a fresh air supply system, a system for its circulation through fans and heating through heaters. For the automated design of three-dimensional models of all these components, the corresponding algorithms were also developed and programmatically implemented using a specialized SolidWorks application programming interface. At the same time, the developed software application takes into account the parameters entered by the user, including the size, quantity, and type of lumber to be dried. In addition, several thermal calculations were performed across the stack, including with different air velocities. This allows us to analyze the effect of this speed on the distribution of heat transfer across the stack. In general, the obtained results are automatically displayed in one of the windows of the software application. This approach makes it possible to obtain results in the background of SolidWorks with minimal user intervention. Despite the fact that such studies are carried out in SolidWorks Simulation, the graphical results, including the temperature distribution across the stack, are fully automated without user intervention. The software application also makes it possible to automatically change the geometry of a three-dimensional model of a wood drying chamber or stacks within specified limits. In turn, the use of the developed software application in combination with SolidWorks Simulation can effectively speed up the process of creating three-dimensional models of wood drying chambers and studying their operation parameters. In general, this work reflects the trend towards digital transformation in industry, opening up new opportunities for woodworking enterprises and contributing to their market competitiveness and production efficiency.

The bearings and distances isolines combinations of the navigational landmarks pair for the vessel fixed position determination

The issues of applying basic navigation parameters (bearing and distance), and their isolines traditionally used in navigation practice in coastal waters are studied in the paper. A new distinctive feature is the use of isolines combinations (three distance arcs, two isoazimuths, a hyperbola and an ellipse) based on measured bearings and distances to the pair of landmarks to obtain the vessel fixed positions with high precision. The traditional navigation methods (the theory of isolines, the generalized method of lines position, the method of least squares) are involved as a mathematical framework. The mathematical argumentation and the isolines characteristics of bearings and distances, their combinations (difference and sum of distances, difference of bearings) are given. The solutions of the surplus equations of the lines position under random error influence by the least squares method and the accuracy assessment of the vessel fix position by the radial error including the reduced variant to compensate the systematic errors are suggested. The principal points of the research are supported by the graphic interpretation, and the given expressions are adjusted to the practical application and navigation systems software development. The computer simulation that shows the radial error of the fixed position by seven position lines is at least two times less than by any pair of position lines has been carried out. The formalization of the proposed methods in the automatic navigation systems or in autonomous ship control systems will enable the navigator on board or at operating the vessel remotely to solve the problems of the navigation information processing in coastal and congested waters on a new level.

SELECTION AND JUSTIFICATION OF THE LOCATION OF CAMERAS OF THE ALLROUND VISION SYSTEM ON AN UNMANNED DUMP TRUCK

The choice of equipment installation location on the sides of an unmanned vehicle, and especially such a dump truck, is a difficult task, which is solved, as a rule, intuitively and by the method of fullscale modeling. The authors of the article have solved the formulated problem, on substantiation of the choice of places of sensorics arrangement on the dump truck, using the developed specialized software application. The Carla simulator was chosen as a tool for carrying out the research as it has wide possibilities of visualization of the surrounding world. At the initial stage of selecting the location of the camera arrangement, the requirements for their viewing angles and the quality of the image obtained from them were formulated. This required the development of a software application in the Python language using the Open3D library, the choice of which is justified by the fact that the Carla simulator provides access to its API through a library for this language, and also because it allows rapid prototyping of applications. The developed software application helps the user to select the location of the video cameras on the dump truck in order to experience the unmanned control system. Further research is aimed at automating the selection of camera locations on board an unmanned dump truck.

Specialists Training for the Radiation Type of Non-Destructive Testing Based on Digital Technologies

The purpose of research is the development of application software, including VR-technologies, to increase the number of trained specialists in radiation type of nondestructive testing by reducing the per capita load on radiographic laboratories while maintaining the amount of practical training, acquired competencies and formed relevant professional skills.Methods. Prerequisites for virtualization of the process of training specialists in nondestructive testing of structural materials and fabricated products are defined. The main factors of demand for industrial radiography simulator in relation to the practical part of the educational cycle on radiation type of nondestructive testing are considered. As a result of the analysis the most significant aspects of practical training, available for their virtual realization, are singled out. The results of software implementation of mathematical models of physical and physicochemical processes of ionizing radiation, attenuation and absorption of penetrating radiation within the scope of digital twin of radiographic image generation as a result of simulation of the technological process of radiation type of nondestructive testing are presented.Results. Performed practical implementation of didactic materials in the form of hardware and software VR-simulator as part of digital educational environment to solve the problems of training, retraining, preparation for certification of personnel and providing admission of specialists to work on radiation type of nondestructive testing at facilities. Physical and technological aspects are analyzed, modeling, algorithmization and software implementation of VR-simulator are performed. A comprehensive approach to the creation of a learning environment with the use of digital technologies is presented. Considered are the main components, their goals and objectives. The structure of a practical lesson and illustrations of the training process in a virtual environment are given. The results of approbation of training programs with integration of classes in VR-simulator of industrial radiography have shown that the total time of practice of trainees increases by 40-55% with simultaneous reduction of per capita radiographic laboratory load by more than 25%. The main directions of development and scaling of software and hardware solution using VR-technologies are given.Conclusion. The developed and tested hardware-software solution together with the results of scientific research suggests the possibility of application and development directions of the digital educational system with VR-environment. The proposed approach application will allow to reduce environmental and biomedical risks by reducing the requirements to safety of training with the use of software and hardware solution. Automation of testing task generation and knowledge control procedures on the basis of software tools and mathematical models application, including methods of artificial intelligence, will allow to achieve training term reduction and will contribute to further increase in the number of trained specialists in various types and methods of nondestructive testing. With the functional capabilities expansion and evolutionary development of hardware-software solution (industrial radiography simulator) on the basis of unified modular approach, software libraries and hardware-software interfaces, virtual simulator simplifies organization of the process of specialists training and knowledge control. Practical value of the digital virtual environment (VR-environment) development is revealed due to the transfer and scaling of the obtained hardware-software solution to other types and methods of nondestructive testing according to GOST R 56542-2019 " Non-destructive testing. Classification of types and method".

Strategi Peningkatan Keterampilan Masyarakat Dalam Membangun Package Backend dan Frontend

Community Service (PKM) with the theme "Strategy for Increasing Community Skills in Building Backend and Frontend Packages" was carried out through a zoom meeting on December 3 2023. This activity aims to provide in-depth understanding and practical skills to teenagers around Bandung City in developing software applications . The seminar began with an explanation of the basic concepts of Package Backend (BE) and Frontend (FE), followed by practical training that involved active participation of participants in building real projects. The implementation method uses a community activity center to facilitate access and create an interactive space. The target audience consists of teenagers from Bandung City, selected because of their potential to develop technological skills. Indicators of success include active participation, understanding of the material, and participants' practical abilities in building applications. Evaluation methods include written exams, practical projects, and participant satisfaction surveys. The results showed significant improvements in participants' understanding and practical skills. Positive impacts can be seen from the small projects that participants develop after the training, creating a stronger technology ecosystem at the local level.

Design and development of human-computer interactive multimedia application software based on Python language

Abstract Interactive multimedia systems have been widely used because of their good interactivity and flexible operation. In this paper, a support platform for human-computer interactive media applications is designed based on the three-layer model, which provides an efficient multimedia-oriented communication mechanism and a convenient development interface for application developers. The M/M/1 queue model is established by considering the load of nodes and links, and the average delay for error repair of the SRM and TORM protocols is calculated. Finally, the interactive performance of multimedia applications is examined through the construction of an experimental platform. The experimental results show that the interaction probability of selecting the distance range of 800~1200 mm is greater. The selection probability is more than 12.45%, and the interaction scenario built by Python language can effectively improve the interaction performance of multimedia applications.

Development Of Mobile-Based Attendance Management System Applications

Components in evaluating student academic achievement can be seen from several things, including attendance. Recording attendance or absenteeism in courses is one of the factors for assessing academic performance and student activities in the learning process. Errors in recording attendance are human errors that can be detrimental to students. This research aims to develop a mobile-based application with the Android platform to overcome errors in attendance. Application software development uses the Agile method; the research results are applications that can overcome human error problems, and development using the Agile method can be done more quickly

DEVELOPMENT OF A MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF VEHICLE ROUTING DURING WINTER ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE MAINTENANCE

The main goal of the research is to study the problem of vehicle routing during winter maintenance of highways, as well as to build a corresponding mathematical model. It is determined that this problem can be characterized as a typical NP-complete problem. A variety of approaches to solving the problem of routing special equipment are considered. In particular, constructive, composite and mixed (metaheuristic) methods were researched. It was found that some researchers tried to automate the process of route planning, for example, developed application software. It was determined that winter maintenance of roads includes chemical, manual, mechanical and physical snow removal operations. It was established that regardless of the method, the road agency should make management decisions regarding the optimal routes of special vehicle. It is proposed to solve this problem using Graph theory. In this case, the Graph will steal from nodes and lengths between them – routes. The objective function minimizes the number of routes of specialized equipment for winter maintenance of the road network by selecting parameters using binary programming. Since the uncertainty factor is programmed into the proposed mathematical model, we believe that the application of the genetic algorithm for solving the mathematical model will be a promising step in the development of the given research.

Fuzzy modeling of biometric variables development of tomato crop under irrigation and water salinity effects

Tomato is a demanding crop in terms of handling, mainly because irrigation has a strong influence on fruit production and quality. Salinity changes the absorption, transport, assimilation, and distribution of nutrients in the plant. In general, such effects are analyzed using statistical tests. However, fuzzy models allow simulations between points that are not verified in agricultural experimentation. Currently, systems with artificial intelligence have excelled in the field of applied sciences, particularly fuzzy systems applied to mathematical modeling. The objective of this research was to use fuzzy modeling to analyze the biometric variables during the development of hybrid tomatoes under two different conditions: the first concerning different water tensions in the soil and the second concerning different salinity doses in irrigation. To this end, two models were developed based on an experiment carried out at São Paulo State University (UNESP), School of Agriculture, Botucatu, São Paulo State, Brazil. Both models sought to estimate the values of biometric variables of the tomato crop. Thus, two models were developed: Model 1 regarded water tensions and days after sowing (DAS), while Model 2 featured salinity and DAS. Fuzzy models provided results that verified the effects of irrigation and salinity layers. Two Fuzzy Rule-Based Systems (FRBS), an input processor with two variables, a set of linguistic rules defined from statistical procedures with percentiles, the Mamdani fuzzy inference method, and the center of gravity method to defuzzification were elaborated for this purpose. The range between −25 and −10 kPa (for Model 1) and between 0.08 and 3 dS m−1 (for Model 2) provided the development within the ideal parameters for the complete development of the plant cycle. The use of fuzzy logic has shown effectiveness in evaluating the development of tomato crops, thus showing potential for use in agricultural sciences. Moreover, the created fuzzy models showed the same characteristics of the experiment, allowing their use as an automatic technique to estimate ideal parameters for the complete development of the plant cycle. The development of applications (software) that provide the results generated by the artificial intelligence models of the present study is the aim of future research.
