Collision of tradition and visual perception: aesthetic evaluation and conservation intent in adapting traditional Chinese gates within architectural heritage

ABSTRACT The sustainable conservation of architectural heritage has attracted significant attention, especially with the rapid development of heritage tourism. Adaptation is a compromise to allow heritage to meet modern development demands; however, unregulated adaptations pose significant risks to sustainable conservation. This study involved 60 participants in a quasi-experimental investigation, using eye-tracking technology combined with evaluation questionnaires. The aim was to explore how material, ornament, and generational age differences impact aesthetic evaluation, visual attention, and conservation intention toward traditional Chinese architectural gates. The results show a general preference for traditional materials (wood) and intricate ornament (Ice Crack), with participants displaying a stronger conservation intention toward these elements. Notably, generational differences were evident, with older participants showing longer visual engagement with architectural heritage design elements. This study extends aesthetic response theory into the heritage domain, emphasizing material authenticity and design complexity in shaping conservation attitudes. It offers valuable insights for heritage adaptation strategies, emphasizing the need to balance historical authenticity with aesthetic appeal to enhance public engagement.

The Meaning of the Principle of Local Wisdom in Management and Protection Law Environment Indonesia

Purpose: The principle of local wisdom is one of the legal principles contained in the Law on Environmental Management andProtection (UUPPLH). This principle implies that environmental management is not only based on modern values or modern Western philosophyrelatedto human rights and globalization,but also places the wisdomoflocal communities or indigenous peoples, as part of it. The management and protection of the environment that has been oriented towards the principles of modern development principles has created acute problems for environmental management and conservation, namely the problems of exploration and exploitation, conservation or logging, which have resulted in environmental damage. Retracing the meaning of the principle of local wisdom, helps to explain how local wisdom becomes the lifeblood of environmental management and conservation. Through a multi-disciplinary approach or using a mixed legal approach (mixed method), namely the use of more than one approach, namely the philosophical approach, conceptual approach and statutory approach, this model is more triangulation approach. The results obtained, that the principle of Local Wisdom is not a mere formal meaning, or only textual recognition, but explains further about the way of life, mindset, values, and culture, idiology that manifests in the behavior - ethical Indonesian society, about its relationship with the environment guided by spiritual rules, or something that forms and leads to "cosmic consciousness". Through this cosmic consciousness, cultural pluralism becomes an invaluable wealth in protecting and maintaining the environment. In the midst of the onslaught of globalization and digitalization, the cosmic consciousness of indigenous peoples is the main foundation of local wisdom, which actually rests on what is referred to as "pre established harmony". Method: First is the philosophical method, which examines and analyzes the position ofprinciples in the EnvironmentalManagementand Protection Law,this methodis used to obtain the essence or meaning (essential) and function of principles for the Development of Environmental Law; (2) Conceptual method, this method helps explain theconcepts usedas the basis for research/writing by presenting currentissues related to the principles in UUPPLH, and (3) Regulatory method, this method is used to explain normatively the essence of UUPPLH, especially the substance of several provisions reviewed in this paper/research. Data analysis uses analytical triangulation, namely various analyses used to explain one particular phenomenon, namely the principle of local wisdom will be studied and dissected through philosophical analysis. Results: The principle of local wisdom in the Law on Environmental Management and Protection has several meanings that philosophically touch the inner aspects of Indonesian society, that (1) The principle of local wisdom in UUPPLH, is not just formally interpreted, but is an essential meaning that describes the reality of Indonesian people's thinking about their relationship with their lives and the environment, namely thinking that is cosmic, integral and intact. (2) The meaning of the principle of local wisdom is the driving force and struggle of the people who have struggled to get recognition from the state, that the rights of indigenous peoples are important things to continue to be protected and maintained (3) The principle of local wisdom in UUPPLH, illustrates the diversity of the values of indigenous peoples spread in many regions, is a wealth owned by the community with a diversity of cultures, values and religions that underlie their lives with the surrounding environment, which forms a plural consciousness. Emotive architecture: Design strategies for urbanization and rural revitalization in China

Taking a specific lens on China’s unique and intricate interplay between urbanization and rural revitalization, this article traces these dynamics back to the nation’s social-cultural fabric. It contextualizes the coexistence of urban and rural identities within the broader Chinese cultural tapestry, underscoring their shared heritage within a collective consciousness shaped by an agrarian legacy. This culminates in the philosophical concept of “Oneness of Heaven and Humanity,” the apex of Chinese cultural aspirations, deeply rooted in the relationship between humans and the land, and calibrated by a state of harmony. Emotion is not merely a tool for achieving this ideal but also a phenomenon shaped by it. Through a comparative analysis of two architectural projects – one urban and one rural – this study examines the practical application and influence of emotive architecture. This approach, sensitive to emotional undercurrents, employs precision akin to acupuncture in diagnosing and addressing regional challenges. It accentuates the meticulous interpretation of emotional resonance, a sensory comprehension of place, and the harmonious fusion of digital craftsmanship with local construction techniques. By positioning architecture as the interface between individuals and their broader environment, the study reveals how emotion-centric design can evoke profound emotional responses, foster community engagement, nurture a collective sense of belonging, and contribute to the economic and cultural vibrancy of specific locales. Particularly pertinent amid the significant sociocultural and environmental shifts in both urban and rural China, this research advocates for a reevaluation of architectural practices that prioritize understanding and addressing the emotional dimensions of space. It offers a strategic framework for navigating the complexities of modern development in China.

The Design and Development of Dabujiang Patchwork Embroidery for Modern Bags

Background and Aim: Dabujiang patchwork embroidery, an intangible cultural handicraft with the longest heritage in southern Hunan, has garnered increasing attention in recent years due to its unique characteristics. However, these products are facing a situation of decline because they cannot meet the needs of modern people. The objective of this research article is to design and develop modern bags featuring Dabujiang patchwork embroidery patterns for women in contemporary society. Materials and Methods: This research is a combination of qualitative research and quantitative research. The qualitative research method was used to study the color, pattern, and meaning of characteristics from 54 pieces of 6 theme categories of Dabujiang product pictures. Interview intangible cultural inheritors, designers, bag shop owners, and women consumers to understand modern women's design needs for women's bags. Combining the characteristics of the Dabujiang pattern characteristics with the needs of modern women, the design and development of six new Dabujiang women's bags based on 6 theme categories. Through 424 questionnaires for women to assess the women's favorite new bags and analyze the reasons women like and find out the future trend of women's bag development. Results: The results of the research revealed: 1) The patterns based on the six categories have different symbolic meanings respectively and they are mainly bionic and geometric patterns. The lines are curves, and the layout is generally symmetrical and balanced. 2) There are 11 kinds of common colors and mainly based on the five orthodox colors of Chinese tradition. The main colors are red, blue, yellow, black, and white, representing the five traditional Chinese elements, which extend different meanings. 3) Through interviews find out young women prefer large bags of bag 1 style, the Morandi color scheme, and meanings of happiness, love, career success, luck, wealth, and beauty. Consequently, the researcher designed six bag styles based on bag 1 style and six theme categories to meet the needs of modern women associated with these six meanings. Questionnaire responses from 424 young women showed that 23.58% favored the Phoenix pattern bag style, making it the most preferred among the six new bag designs. This style showcases a phoenix motif in blue, white, and black colors, symbolizing career success. Conclusion: The findings indicate that modern women highly value career success and self-worth, prioritizing independence over traditional roles. This conclusion mainly stems from the transformation of modern women's roles and the awakening of self-awareness. In addition to assuming the role of mother in the family, modern women also play the role of professional women in society, and more and more women regard career success as their pursuit goal. In the context of the changing identity and goals of modern women, the products should be designed that meet the needs of modern women based on their needs, combined with the symbolic meaning of cultural patterns. For future product development, incorporating symbolic patterns that align with the career aspirations of modern young women is recommended.

Optimizing Agricultural Labour: An Examination of On-Demand Workforce Solutions for Seasonal Demands

To address the growing challenges in managing on-demand Labour within the agricultural sector, we introduce Agro Finder, an innovative application developed using Figma for design and flutter for frontend development and firebase for backend. This research presents a comprehensive overview of the current state of Labour management in agriculture and proposes Agro Finder as a solution tailored to the sector's unique needs. The app leverages real-time data and sophisticated algorithms to streamline the connection between farmers and Labourers, optimizing Labour allocation based on geographic location, skills, and availability. Further analysis reveals that Agro Finder significantly enhances Labour utilization efficiency, reducing downtime in agricultural operations. The app's intuitive design, supported by Figma, ensures a user-friendly experience, while the fronted, powered by Flutter, provides reliable performance. The integration of these technologies facilitates efficient Labour management, leading to increased productivity and operational efficiency in agriculture. The research findings underscore the potential of applying modern development tools and methodologies to solve traditional problems in agriculture. By harnessing the power of Figma and Flutter, Agro Finder sets a new standard in on- demand Labour management, offering valuable insights and practical solutions. This study provides a solid foundation for future advancements in agricultural Labour management and highlights the importance of technological innovation in enhancing agricultural productivity. A Framework for Real-Time AI-Driven Secure Code Analysis Integrated with DevSecOps in Cloud-Native CI/CD Pipelines

Abstract—This paper presents a novel framework for inte- grating real-time AI-driven secure code analysis into DevSecOps practices within cloud-native CI/CD pipelines. As organizations increasingly adopt cloud- native architectures and agile develop- ment methodologies, the need for robust, automated security mea- sures becomes paramount. Our proposed framework leverages advanced machine learning algorithms to perform continuous, real-time code analysis, identifying potential vulnerabilities and security risks throughout the development lifecycle. By seamlessly integrating with existing CI/CD tools and cloud platforms, our solution enables organizations to enforce security policies, detect threats, and remediate issues without compromising development velocity. We evaluate the effectiveness of our framework through a series of case studies across diverse software projects, demon- strating significant improvements in threat detection accuracy, reduced false positives, and overall security posture. Our results indicate that the proposed AI-driven approach can enhance code security by up to 40% compared to traditional static analysis tools, while maintaining the agility of modern development prac- tices. This research contributes to the evolving field of DevSecOps by offering a scalable, intelligent solution for embedding security into the heart of cloud-native software development processes. Challenges and Strategies for the Sustainable Architectural Education in the Context of Post-Urbanization and Climate Change

The transformation of urbanization patterns due to the pandemic and climate change have significantly reshaped construction market demands, presenting substantial challenges to current architectural education (AE) models. In order to address these challenges and propose effective reform strategies, this study utilizes questionnaires and expert interviews to gather perspectives from architecture students and professionals in a Chinese university. The findings highlight three main issues in AE: (1) misalignment between talent development stages and educational goals; (2) slow updates to curriculum content, leading to lagging behind the needs of times; and (3) inadequate integration of curriculum design with practical application, coupled with excessively lengthy academic programs. To address these challenges, the study proposes the strategies: (1) adopting multi-objective and multi-track approaches for educational goals; (2) reducing length of programs and implementing flexible academic structures; and (3) developing curricula that integrate knowledge with practice. This research offers valuable insights for reforming architectural education within the framework of sustainable development, emphasizing the need for educational goals, curriculum, and cultivation system to evolve to meet the demands of modern practice and development.

The Issues and Optimization Strategies in the Modernization of Vocational Education in the Era of Chat GPT

The emergence of Chat GPT technology represents a significant breakthrough in natural language processing, revolutionizing human-machine interaction and presenting profound challenges to vocational education modernization in China. In the Chat GPT era, vocational education undergoes transformative changes, including personalized learning reaching new heights, big data-driven intelligent decision-making entering a new phase, and the integration of education resources on unprecedented scales. However, this modernization effort also encounters several critical issues, such as overreliance on technology and the associated risks of unemployment, threats to data privacy and security, erosion of ethical values, and the widening digital divide in education. To ensure the high-quality development of vocational education modernization with the support of artificial intelligence tools like Chat GPT, it is crucial to enhance supervision and regulation of Chat GPT technology applications, promoting its safe and responsible use. Moreover, prioritizing technology ethics and moral education becomes imperative to nurture students’ ethical awareness and moral compass in the utilization and development of technology. Innovative strategies and challenges mosquito-borne disease control amidst climate change

The revival of the transmission dynamics of mosquito-borne diseases grants striking challenges to public health intensified by climate change worldwide. This inclusive review article examines multidimensional strategies and challenges linked to climate change and the epidemiology of mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and yellow fever. It delves into how the biology, pathogenic dynamics, and vector distribution of mosquitoes are influenced by continuously rising temperatures, modified rainfall patterns, and extreme climatic conditions. We also highlighted the high likelihood of malaria in Africa, dengue in Southeast Asia, and blowout of Aedes in North America and Europe. Modern predictive tools and developments in surveillance, including molecular gears, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and remote sensing have boosted our capacity to predict epidemics. Integrated data management techniques and models based on climatic conditions provide a valuable understanding of public health planning. Based on recent data and expert ideas, the objective of this review is to provide a thoughtful understanding of existing landscape and upcoming directions in the control of mosquito-borne diseases regarding changing climate. This review determines emerging challenges and innovative vector control strategies in the changing climatic conditions to ensure public health.

A Design and Safety Analysis of the “Electricity-Hydrogen-Ammonia” Energy Storage System: A Case Study of Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant

With the development of modernization, traditional fossil energy reserves are decreasing, and the power industry, as one of the main energy consumption forces, has begun to pay attention to increasing the proportion of clean energy generation. With the deepening of electrification, the peak-valley difference of residential electricity consumption increases, but photovoltaic and wind power generation have fluctuations and are manifested as reverse peak regulation. Thermal power plants as the main force of peak regulation gradually reduce the market share, making nuclear power plants bear the heavy responsibility of participating in peak regulation. The traditional method of adjusting operating power by inserting and removing control rods has great safety risks and wastes resources. Therefore, this paper proposes a new energy storage system that can keep the nuclear power plant running at full power and produce hydrogen to synthesize ammonia from excess power. A comprehensive evaluation model of energy storage based on z-score data standardization and objective parameter assignment AHP (analytic hierarchy process) analysis method was established to evaluate energy storage systems according to a multi-index system. With an AP1000 daily load tracking curve as the input model, the simulation model built by Aspen Plus V14 was used to calculate the operating conditions of the system. In order to provide a construction basis for practical engineering use, Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant in Shandong Province is taken as an example. The system layout scheme is proposed according to the local environmental conditions. The accident tree analysis method is combined with ALOHA 5.4.1.2 (Areal Locations of Hazardous Atmospheres) hazardous chemical analysis software and MARPLOT 5.1.1 geographic information technology. A qualitative and quantitative assessment of risk factors and the consequences of leakage, fire, and explosion accidents caused by hydrogen and ammonia storage processes is carried out to provide guidance for accident prevention and emergency rescue. The design of an “Electric-Hydrogen-Ammonia” energy storage system proposed in this paper provides a new idea for zero-carbon energy storage for the peak shaving of nuclear power plants and has a certain role in promoting the development of clean energy.

Pengembangan Buku Interaktif 3D Audio Visual pada Materi Tutorial Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran Berbasis Studi Kasus Adaptif untuk Peningkatan Kompetensi Keterampilan Mahasiswa PPG Seni Budaya

This study aims to develop a 3D audio-visual interactive book on tutorial materials for developing adaptive case-based learning media to enhance the skill competencies of PPG Art and Culture students. The methodology includes needs analysis, interactive book design, and effectiveness evaluation. This interactive book is designed to provide an immersive and comprehensive learning experience through the use of 3D and audio-visual technology. The results indicate that this interactive book significantly improves students' understanding and skills in developing adaptive, case-based learning media. Evaluations through surveys and in-depth interviews confirm that the book is effective in supporting a more innovative and interactive learning process. This study makes a significant contribution to the development of modern and relevant learning materials in contemporary education.

A new paradigm of bone active risedronate-functionalized polycaprolactone/gelatin scaffold synergistically promotes osteogenic differentiation in rat bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells for bone tissue engineering

Modern developments in bone tissue engineering focus on designing biomimetic materials that exhibit suitable mechanical and physiochemical properties. In this study, we present the development of a new biomaterial scaffold using a newly constructed polymer that contains bisphosphonate in combination with gelatin (GAT). To achieve scaffolding, a chemical grafting technique was used to develop risedronate (RS)-functionalized polycaprolactone (PCL-RS). The freeze-casting process was used to construct the porous PCL-RS/GAT scaffold after incorporating gelatin into the PCL-RS polymer solution. A scaffold with pores that are in perfect position and a porosity of 81.84% was successfully acquired. The biodegradability assessment, 48% of its early weight was lost after five weeks. The PCL-RS/GAT scaffold exhibited an elastic modulus of 32.01 MPa and a tensile strength of 3.9 MPa. The MTT analysis showed the PCL-RS/GAT favorable cytocompatibility with rat bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSC). In addition, the cells cultured in the PCL-RS/GAT scaffold exhibited the greatest ALP activity and mineralization. The RT-PCR test results indicated that the PCL-RS/GAT scaffold had a high RUNX2, COL 1A1, and OCN gene expression, suggesting a strong osteoinductive capacity. The results indicate that the PCL-RS/GAT scaffold is a suitable biomimetic platform for tissue engineering in bone.

Construction of Schottky barrier diode with a novel one-dimensional Cu(II)-based coordination polymer

Utilization of different kinds of materials in the fabrication of electronic device is considered as one of their most prominent employments. For modern civilization development of efficient electronic devices is extremely helpful not only due to their technological aspect but also for their laboratory to land applications. Keeping in mind of the above issues, a copper(II)-based zigzag one dimensional coordination polymer [Cu(4-dpds)(4-cba)2]n (where 4-dpds represents 1,2-di(pyridine-4-yl)disulfane and 4-cba represents 4-chloro benzoate anion) has been synthesized and well-characterized through X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis, powder X-ray diffraction analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, absorption spectral analysis and infra-red spectral analysis. Structural characterization through single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the zigzag wave like architecture has been generated due to the presence of S-S linked ligands 4-dpds and strong hydrogen bonding interactions play pivotal role in the development of the supramolecular aggregate. Interestingly, the optical band-gap (2.15 eV) obtained from absorption spectra and the electrical conductivity at room temperature (measured as 9.73 × 10−4 S cm-1) revealed the semiconducting nature of the coordination polymer. The theoretical calculation projected HOMO-LUMO energy gap (2.11 eV) and the Fermi level (near to valence band) estimated from DOS also justified the p-type behavior of the derived material. The device fabricated by sandwiching the coordination polymer in between ITO coated glass substrate and metallic aluminum, was observed to exhibit non-linear rectifying nature in current-voltage characteristic plot. Therefore it is obvious that these kinds of easily synthesizable lower dimensional coordination polymers can be considered as potential candidates in application of Schottky like devices and also helpful for technological advancement as well as for the up-gradation of future research in the corresponding field.

Dialects of diplomacy in eighteenth-century Morocco: Middle Arabic in the correspondence of ambassador Aḥmad al-Ghazzāl

ABSTRACT Aḥmad al-Ghazzāl was a Moroccan scribe and litterateur who served as Sultan Muḥammad III’s (r. 1757-1790) chief diplomat to Spain from 1766 to 1775. In this capacity he wrote over thirty letters to his Spanish and other foreign counterparts around the Mediterranean. We use these letters to examine how al-Ghazzāl strategically employed Middle Arabic, defined as a written variety that incorporates both classical and colloquial elements, as part of an effective diplomatic agenda. His use of Middle Arabic combined previously established norms with innovations that have up to now not been documented in this period or genre. Proposing a historical-linguistic analysis, we argue that al-Ghazzāl’s innovative rhetorical strategies offer insight into both spoken and written Arabic in the early modern period and developments in diplomatic thought and practice from a North African perspective.

Reinterpreting Iddah for Career Women: Najmuddin Tufi�s Maqashid Sharia Approach

This study aims to reinterpret the concept of iddah (waiting period) for career women using a maqashid sharia approach based on Najmuddin Thufi�s thought. Iddah is an Islamic ruling intended to protect family and societal welfare, yet it presents challenges for modern career women. The traditional rules of iddah, which restrict activities outside the home, can impact women�s social and economic well-being, particularly for those who work. This research employs Najmuddin Thufi�s approach, which emphasizes public interest (maslahah), to explore whether the rules of iddah require adjustment for career women without compromising the fundamental objectives of Islamic law. Using a qualitative methodology with a library research approach, this study gathers data from literature on Islamic law, maqashid sharia and Najmuddin Thufi�s theory. The study finds that reconstructing iddah for career women is feasible by applying maqashid sharia principles, particularly through Thufi�s emphasis on maslahah. In the context of working women, traditional iddah rules�which limit activities outside the home�present challenges, especially concerning economic and social well-being. Based on the principle of maslahah, the iddah rule can be adapted without disregarding the core objectives of sharia, allowing career women to continue working during the waiting period as long as they uphold personal dignity and adhere to Islamic legal regulations. This approach offers a contextual and adaptive interpretation of Islamic law that aligns with modern developments while preserving the objectives of Sharia. The study concludes that iddah for career women can be reconstructed to bridge the gap between religious obligations and contemporary socio-economic needs.

Exploring the Role of Action Research in Enhancing Quality Management in Teacher Education: A Case Study

The sincere pursuit process called educational research has developed in modern times. Thus, academic research is a systematic activity devoted to discovering and developing well-organized knowledge that always seeks to find or solve a problem. At present, due to the increasing modernization and engineering development in the education system, research has become inevitable in solving operational problems, as well as in the teacher education field, various problems related to teaching and training and action by inventing various developmental approaches in the field of quality management Research. According to Palmer and Johnson (1971), action research is a method of using research for social activities that involve groups of people to solve problems and find root causes, as if the research itself is a part of empowerment and action. This article will explore the inter-dependence of action research and quality management in teacher education.

Research on Chinese Universities' Communication Work for Global Southern Z-Generation Youth under the Theory of "The Bias of Communication" —A Case Study Based on Z University's Communication with Africa

At present, the significant role of strengthening international communication efforts towards the Global South is increasingly highlighted, with communication work targeting Z-Generation youth being a top priority in promoting the construction of international communication capabilities. The rise and development of the Theory of The Bias of Communication holds certain contemporary value. In the new era, China's communication work towards the Global Southern Z-Generation youth should apply this theory critically, which is specifically manifested in facing China's modernization development strategy and the concept of a community with a shared future, emphasizing the status of communication media and the renewal of new media, and promoting the shift from media dominance to content as king. Faced with challenges such as China's international communication capacity does not match the level of its comprehensive national strength and the disadvantages of “time-biased” and “space-biased” media in a late-developing context, based on the practical experience of Z University's communication work with African Z-Generation youth, Chinese universities' international communication work for Global Southern Z-Generation youth should create a fluid channel for the transformation of time and space on the basis of balancing time and space, thereby actively responding to national strategic needs.
