Estimation of Land Surface Temperature and LULC Changes impact on Groundwater resources in the semi-arid region of Madhya Pradesh, India

The land surface temperature (LST) changes influence on many factors such as land use and land cover (LULC), vegetation and water resources etc. Now a day’s urban population growth, industrial development and human activity are increased due to human migration and urban expansion. The surface temperature is very harmful to vegetation, groundwater level, and ecosystem health. Urban pollution growth and air pollution factor is also playing important role for increase and decrease the LST with climate change impact. Demand of drinking water are increases particular in the urban city due to the population growth and urban expansion, which all of this direct effect on surface and groundwater sources and resources. Hence we have been chosen the latest technologies such as remote sensing (RS), Geographic information System (GIS) and Google Earth Engine (GEE) are very effective for mapping, monitoring and assessment of spatial maps of LST, LULC, and NDVI (Normalised differential vegetation index) estimation. In this study, main focus on the LULC of 2011 and 2021 were classified using random forest (RF) algorithm, ML and remote sensing datasets. LULC were divided into four categories i. e. agricultural land, built up land, waterbody and waste land. For better understanding about the growth of LST, this study examines the association between LST and NDVI change, what vegetation condition impact on the LST. The main and important results have been found the built-up land and LST positive correlation due to increases both the factors in the urban area. LST increases gradually and its bad effect on the green land, water level and expansion of barren land. The range of LST is 43.60°C to 45.30°C. Less vegetation cover showing highest LST and vice versa. All of the LST, NDVI, and LULC direct effect on the groundwater availability in the area. This paper important result found the built-up land and LST both are increased in 2021, NDVI and LST having negative correlation. The results of study can very much useful for understanding the LST, NDVI and LULC, these factors what impact on groundwater availability in the study area.

Optimizing the Composition of Basalt and Heat Treatment of Fly Ash-Based Mullite Ceramics Using the Taguchi Method

The development of industrial activities has an impact on the increase in waste produced, and fly ash, aluminum dross, and basalt dust are no exception. This research studies the potential of these three materials as ceramic materials. Basalt dust from East Lampung was used as filler. The effect on the physical and mechanical properties of mullite (3Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>-2SiO<sub>2</sub>) ceramics was studied. The manufacture of mullite ceramics based on Taguchi design includes fly ash compositions of 40%, 50%, and 60% and basalt content of 0%, 5%, and 10%. sintering temperatures of 600°C, 900°C, and 1,200°C. Taguchi and Anova were used to determine the effect of independent variables on hardness and density. In addition, macro and microphoto tests were carried out to determine the physical and topographic changes of mullite ceramics. Chemical composition tests with X-ray fluorescence were carried out on raw materials and ceramics that have been formed. Changes in the crystal phase in mullite ceramics were studied through the X-ray diffragment test. XRF test results obtained for raw fly ash (SiO<sub>2</sub> + Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> + Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>): 84.84 wt%. The composition of raw basalt is predominantly 48.42% SiO<sub>2</sub>, 18.82% Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>, 12.60% Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>, and raw aluminum dross with 67.821% Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> content. The mullite ceramic specimen consists of 38.24–45.30% SiO<sub>2</sub>, 34.72–48.73% Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>, 6.3–9.99% Fe<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub>, and 2.31–5.31% CaO. The crystal phases formed are mullite, pyroxene, and diopside. Analysis of variance shows that hardness is significantly affected by sintering temperature, with a P-value of 0.013 and a contribution of 93.77%. This modeling is acceptable with an error value of 1.26%, or R-sq: 98.74%. The addition of basalt increases the density of mullite ceramics, with a P-value of 0.033 and a contribution of 96.05%. The addition of basalt as a filler is not able to increase the hardness significantly, but it affects the higher ceramic density value. However, the formation of mullite is interesting to study further as a refractory material

Removal of heavy metal ions from wastewater using two-dimensional transition metal carbides

Water is an indispensable material for human life. Unfortunately, the development of industrial activities has reduced the quality of water resources in the world. Meantime, heavy metals are an important factor in water pollution due to their toxicity. This study highlights the method for the capture of heavy metal ions from wastewater using the procedure of adsorption. The adsorption of toxic heavy metal ions (Pb2+, Hg2+, and Cd2+) on Ca2C as well as Cr2C carbide-nitride MXene monolayers is investigated using the density functional theory. We have carried out the optimization of the considered MXenes by nine DFT functionals: PBE, TPSS, BP86, B3LYP, TPSSh, PBE0, CAM-B3LYP, M11, and LC-WPBE. Our results have shown a good agreement with previously measured electronic properties of the Ca2C and Cr2C MXene layers and the PBE DFT method. The calculated cohesive energy for the Ca2C and Cr2C MXene monolayers are −4.12 eV and −4.20 eV, respectively, which are in agreement with the previous studies. The results reveal that the adsorbed heavy metal ions have a substantial effect on the electronic properties of the considered MXene monolayers. Besides, our calculations show that the metal/MXene structures with higher electron transport rates display higher binding energy as well as charge transfers between the metal and Ca2C and Cr2C layers. Time-dependent density functional analysis also displayed “ligand to metal charge transfer” excitations for the metal/MXene systems. The larger Ebin for the Pb@Ca2C as well as Pb@Cr2C are according to larger redshifts which are expected (Δλ = 45 nm and 71 nm, respectively). Our results might be helpful for future research toward the application of carbide-nitride MXene materials for removing wastewater pollutants.

Academia-pharmaceutical industry linkage: An academic perspective.

The pharmaceutical sector in Pakistan has grown over a period, however, there are several barriers in the framework governing the growth of the country's pharmaceuticals. The lack of academia-industry linkage (AIL) is among the critical barriers; hence the focus of the study is to find out the reasons for the lack in the above collaboration. Understanding barriers may help their redressal. This qualitative phenomenology-based study has been conducted in the most prominent pharmacy institutes, located in Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Sargodha, and Quetta. Academic participants, with a minimum experience of 10 years and designation of assistant professor or above were recruited with a two-stage selection process, purposive sampling and snowball sampling. The data were collected using semi-structured interviews with academic experts. Thematic content analysis was employed to conclude the data. Analysis of data yielded 8 themes with 18 codes. The main reasons for neglected AIL were explained by a partial or complete lack of industrial research and development activities. Other key factors for the scarcity of AILs were the lack of positive attitude from both industry and academia, applied research in academics, and the research and development of the new molecules in the pharmaceutical industry. Support by the government and the drug regulatory authority of Pakistan in terms of regulatory and academic policies was also perceived to be absent. New horizons in research and development could be opened by providing applied research to industry, including but not limited to new molecule development. Academia-industry linkage could be boosted with government-backed funded projects and policies. Academia should focus on the industrial-demanded applied research.

The Importance of the Development of Industry in Romania and Its Development Potential

The first part of the study details the importance of industry in the economy in general, but it is worth nothing without continuous technological development. This is supported by classical and unquestionable theories, followed by statistical data and macroeconomic indicators to demonstrate their practical relevance. The realistic data will clearly show that countries with a strong industrial base and a strong focus on development in their economic structure will have a steady advantage over other countries on the international stage. The structure of the industry in Romania, its main areas, and the industrial characteristics of the regions will then be presented, as well as the economic differences between industrialised and less industrialised areas. The study shows that industry and R&D are the basis for economic growth and development, as they are also the basis for services. Romania is in a very special situation, as it has all the potential and resources to build and develop the industry, but the mentality of the past system still leaves its mark on how to exploit its potential. Of course, industry and its development require a considerable amount of capital, knowledge, and know-how. For this, European Union funds offer considerable opportunities, and the operational programmes that provide this type of support, both to the private sector and to public institutions, are presented in detail. At the end of the study, it will be clear what industry and R&D mean for economic growth, what the situation and characteristics of the Romanian industry are, and what financial resources are available for the implementation and development of industrial activities.

Combined contribution of biochar and introduced AM fungi on lead stability and microbial community in polluted agricultural soil.

Lead (Pb) pollution in agricultural soil has been accelerated by industrial development and human activities, and poses a major threat to agricultural ecosystems. Both biochar and arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) fungi are considered to play an important role in remediation of Pb contaminated soil. The combined remediation effects of introduced AM fungi and biochar on soil properties, Pb availability, microbial community and functional profiles were systematically investigated in unsterilized Pb-polluted agricultural soil. Results indicated that soil nutrients were significantly improved through the combined application of biochar and introduced AM fungi. The introduced AM fungi combined with biochar prepared at 400°C and 500°C promoted the transformation of Pb to a more stable state with low bioavailability. Moreover, the addition of AM fungi and biochar affected the relative abundances of dominant bacteria and fungi at the phylum and genus levels. Biochar mainly affected soil bacterial community and obviously increased the relative abundance of Actinobacteria and Blastococcus. The interactions between biochar and introduced AM fungi mainly affected fungal community, and increased the abundance of Ascomycota and Botryotrichum. Further, PICRUSt analysis indicated biochar amendment supported stronger bacterial metabolic functional potentials. Temporal study of coral reef health in Kepulauan Seribu Marine National Park

Coral reefs are one of ecosystems that have high biodiversity and productivity. The condition of coral reefs in Seribu Islands is currently being threatened by various marine industry development activities. This study aims to determine coral reef health in Seribu Islands, DKI Jakarta. The study was conducted at eight observation stations in Kepulauan Seribu Marine National Park area on 7-10 March 2022 (First Monitoring) and 31 May until 3 June 2022 (Second Monitoring). Coral reef data collecting were using Underwater Photo Transect (UPT) method. Reef fish data collecting were using Underwater Visual Census (UVC) method. While for macrobenthos data collecting were using the Belt Transect method. The coral reef health index was determined based on two main components, there are benthic component and reef fish component. Overall, coral reef health from eight observation stations during two monitoring sessions had high recovery potential, although some stations had low coral cover and low target fish biomass. In addition, several species of macrobenthos are bioindicators that can contribute to purifying waters.

Heavy metals in wetlands of southwestern India: from sediments through invertebrates to migratory shorebirds

Heavy metal pollution in Indian wetlands is rising due to industrial, agricultural and urban development activities. Shorebirds occupy upper trophic levels and are therefore especially vulnerable to heavy metal pollution. We evaluated the concentration of heavy metals (zinc, copper, cobalt, chromium, lead and cadmium) in 22 common species of migrant shorebirds (220 shorebird dropping samples) with diverse foraging behaviors, in their different prey (55 prey samples) and in the sediments (90 sediment samples) in different habitat types (mudflats, mangroves and sand beaches) between 2019 and 2021. Further, we analyzed a total of 10 biofilm samples from mudflats and mangroves. We detected relatively low concentrations of heavy metals in the sediments (Zn concentration range: 9.11–40.91 mg/kg; Cu: 5.74–21.38 mg/kg; Co: 2.00–4.04 mg/kg; Cr: 4.05–41.03 mg/kg; Pb: 1.02–7.19 mg/kg; Cd: 0.56–4.35 mg/kg). However, we measured relatively high concentrations of heavy metals in invertebrate prey species (Zn concentration range: 84.72–224.74 mg/kg; Cu: 26.63–170.36 mg/kg; Co: 13.98–14.42 mg/kg; Cr: 14.78–98.16 mg/kg; Pb: 18.95–157.29 mg/kg; Cd: 9.33–60.56 mg/kg). In addition, we found high concentrations of heavy metals in shorebird droppings (Zn concentration range: 41.33–58.8 mg/kg; Cu: 31.42–52.11 mg/kg; Co: 36.34–55.68 mg/kg; Cr: 52.3–68.21 mg/kg; Pb: 25.94–43.13 mg/kg; Cd: 5.53–16.4 mg/kg). It is evident that concentration of heavy metals increased successively moving from sediment to prey to shorebird species, likely through trophic transfer. The biofilm samples contained very high concentrations of Cr, Pb and Cd (22.64, 28.09 and 18.46 mg/kg respectively) which could be harmful to biofilm grazing shorebirds. Since bioaccumulation of heavy metals entail risks in living species, we suggest that increasing concentrations may detrimentally affect physiological processes in invertebrates and shorebirds. There is an urgent need to identify the sources of pollution and to reduce the discharge of heavy metals and other pollutants into coastal and inland wetlands.

River-influenced beluga (Delphinapterus leucas) summer habitat use in western Hudson Bay, Canada

River estuaries along western Hudson Bay, Canada, are important summer habitats for beluga whales ( Delphinapterus leucus (Pallas, 1776)) and subject to increasing industrial development activities including vessel traffic. The feasibility of establishing a National Marine Conservation Area (NMCA) in western Hudson Bay is under consideration, requiring baseline studies and habitat monitoring. In this study, beluga whale locations were identified using aerial photographs collected during summer 2018 of the Seal, Knife, Churchill, and Nelson River estuaries. Sentinel 2 wavelength bands were used to outline river plume boundaries for the Seal, Knife, and Churchill Rivers. Multiple discriminant analysis was used to differentiate between beluga habitat areas according to their environmental characteristics including concentration of total suspended sediments (TSS), and coloured dissolved organic matter (CDOM). The Seal River estuary, Knife River estuary, Churchill River outer estuary, Churchill River estuary, and Nelson River estuary were identified as distinct habitat areas. Resource selection functions and model selection were used to determine that habitat variables related to prey availability were important for beluga habitat selection, including TSS, CDOM, and the distance to river mouth or river plume. Identification of preferred habitat and habitat areas in this study are imperative for future management decisions including establishment of an NMCA.

Spatial Distribution of Lead in the Soil of Urban Areas Under Different Land-Use Types

Awareness of lead (Pb) distribution and zoning in urban, agricultural, and industrial areas is of particular importance in environmental protection planning. This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the distribution of Pb in different uses with different levels of industrial development and human activities in urban areas in Hamadan during 2018. For this purpose, 146 soil samples were collected from 0-20 cm depth and prepared for air-dried laboratory analyses. Then, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total Pb, and adsorbable Pb in the soil were measured. The results demonstrated that the mean concentration of total Pb is 88 mg/kg. In addition, the mean concentration of Pb in urban, industrial, and agricultural areas was 41 mg/kg, 30 mg/kg, and 17 mg/kg, respectively. Further, the average concentration of adsorbable Pb with a standard deviation of 0.3 in industrial, urban, and agricultural areas was 0.38 mg/kg, 0.16 mg/kg, and 0.06 mg/kg. Land use was an important source of Pb change in the studied soils; however, Pb change did not depend only on land use. Factors such as weather conditions or proximity to roads, as well as previous land uses, could affect the role of existing land use and be effective in the distribution of soil Pb. Studies revealed that the amount of the soil’s adsorbable Pb is more important than that of total Pb in different uses, which should be considered in any soil-related research.

Water quality assessment using water quality index: a case of the Dong Nai river- sections flow through Bien Hoa city

Over the past few years, there are many activities had negative impacts on the surface water of the Dong Nai river such as industry, agriculture, and service development activities; Therefore, river water quality is significantly relieved. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of elements on the water quality in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province. Analyze the parameters of pH, temperature, DO, BOD5, COD, N-NH4+, P-PO43-, TSS, turbidity, and total Coliform on 54 samples from Jan to Dec in 2022. The water quality index (WQI) and statistical analysis were applied to explore and determine the water quality in Bien Hoa City. The results of the study indicated that the water quality of Dong Nai river is not quite good, most parameters reach the limit value B1 according to QCVN 08:2015/BTNMT; however, the values of parameters DO, total coliforms, TSS exceed the limit value B1 significantly. WQI values fluctuate at a fairly high level from 17 to 68, and the average WQI of the river reaches is quite low, so the authority should have promulgated the law to protect the water surface of this river; Therefore, water quality assessment is significant for better control and management of the surface water environment in Vietnam.

Perkembangan Aktivitas Industri Dan Bangkitan Aktivitasnya Di Kecamatan Tegowanu, Kabupaten Grobogan

Urbanization process has also shifted urban activities from urban cores its peripheries. Industrial development peripheries become one of the activities that strengthened rural-urban linkages in the form of core-peripheries interactions. This phenomenon also occurs in Semarang Metropolitan area, small towns in its peripheries as the locations for industrial development, including in Tegowanu District, Grobogan Regency. The development of industrial activities in the area also leads to other activities generation. The results show that industrial development in Tegowanu District appeared since 2009 by the development of a garment factory, which is followed by other industries, located in Mangunsari and Gebangan Villages. The industrial development is in a rural village area and industrial development in Tegowanu District is 23.08% per year. However, the generation of other activities in Mangunsari Villages is still low, although most of industrial activities’ development are located there. Tegowanu Kulon as an old urban village is the place where the most of other activities’ generated take place because industrial activities in Tegowanu District are still relatively new and developing, soo the impacts in generating other urban activities is still limited. However, the development of industrial activities in the area has resulted in more varied livelihoods and employment opportunities

Characteristics of Banana Leaves as Gaseous Biosorbent

The quality of air is vital for our existence. Increasing industrial development and household activities will increase the risk of air pollution and environmental damage. Some air pollution in ambient air quality is very toxic and lethal. One method that can remove gaseous pollutants is adsorption. Previous study about banana plant as adsorbent of gaseous pollutant, banana leaves has the highest adsorption efficiency value of 76.52%. Purpose of this study to discuss characteristics and potential of banana leaves as gaseous adsorbent. This research was carried out by studying literature and testing the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) of the banana leaf surface morphology. The structural properties of adsorbent were characterized, which exhibited the adsorbent’s porous surface or stomata. There are several studies of the SEM analysis results that explain stomata are able to trap air pollution. Banana leaves contain lignin, cellulose, and cuticle which have been found in several studies to be useful as gas adsorbents. Based on these studies, it can be concluded that banana leaves have potential as an adsorbent of gaseous pollutants.

Mass production of crystalline silicon solar cells with polysilicon‐based passivating contacts: An industrial perspective

AbstractSilicon solar cells that employ passivating contacts featuring a heavily doped polysilicon layer on a thin silicon oxide (TOPCon) have been demonstrated to facilitate remarkably high cell efficiencies, amongst the highest achieved to date using a single junction on a silicon substrate. Importantly, it has been shown that the polysilicon‐based passivating contacts have a high degree of compatibility with existing mass production processes and toolsets, making them an attractive choice for photovoltaic (PV) cell manufacturers to increase the efficiency of their products. With several large PV manufacturers recently announcing plans to push the TOPCon technology into mass production, we review the significant industrial research and development activities that have been undertaken to push the boundaries of the technology and optimise its integration into the existing mass production pipeline. From an industrial perspective, TOPCon fabrication methodology options as well as necessary technological advances in front‐side fabrication, cell metallisation and module integration are discussed. The TOPCon technology development is contextualised in terms of larger trends in PV manufacturing, and we look towards the direction of future industrial development.

Evaluation of Spatial Reconstruction and Driving Factors of Tourism-Based Countryside

The spatial reconstruction process of suburban villages is an important aspect of integrated urban–rural development. Evaluating the level of spatial reconstruction of tourist villages and the characteristics of their developmental stages has become a critical issue in current rural development. Exploring the spatial reconstruction of typical tourist-oriented villages can help provide experiences for other rural spatial reconstructions. In this study, East Tumen Village and West Tumen Village in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, were selected as the research objects of rural tourism space. Through in-depth interviews and human–computer interactive interpretation of remote sensing images, this study traced the process of rural spatial reconstruction. The spatial reconstruction index of the rural tourism space was constructed from three dimensions: production space (product production capacity, industrial development activity, production space foundation), living space (living space convenience, tourism space convenience, living space comfort, living space foundation), and ecological space (ecological space regulation ability, ecological space stability capacity, ecological space foundation). Using the rural spatial reconstruction intensity index and rural spatial reconstruction contribution rate, this study quantitatively evaluated the spatial development level of tourism villages on a microscopic scale and examined the stage characteristics of their spatial reconstruction. The results show that the two villages experienced a budding stage, a development stage, and an accelerated development stage from 2005 to 2020 and have not yet reached a stable stage of relative balance and coordination; production activities are integrated into other spaces, and single-function space has become production–living and production–ecology composite space. The spatial reconstruction of East and West Tumen villages is driven by a combination of ‘top-down’ external drivers, such as rural tourism development, multi-governance subject participation, and public policy, and ‘bottom-up’ internal drivers, such as production demand, living demand, and ecological demand.

Reservoir optimal operation with an integrated approach for managing floods and droughts using NSGA-III and prospect behavioral theory

• An integrated management of floods and droughts is examined. • Optimal operation of a reservoir using a novel NSGA-III algorithm. • Prospect theory is utilized to simulate farmers' heterogeneous behavior. • The standardized runoff index (SRI) is used to define hydrological conditions. Establishing a holistic approach to manage floods and droughts is essential considering the different hydrological conditions. This work aimed to demonstrate how the integrated management of floods and droughts (IMFD) can increase sustainability and decrease the vulnerability of reservoirs against water-related disasters. To do so, a non-integrated management of floods and droughts (NMFD) is compared to an IMFD approach for the optimal operation of a reservoir (Doroudzan dam) to evaluate the sustainability of each scenario, especially the environmental water demand for Bakhtegan lake. Doroudzan dam provides water for different users, especially the environmental water demand. The IMFD and NMFD are differentiated through the development of industrial activities and the construction of a new regulatory dam, respectively. Each management scenario is tested under three hydrological conditions, i.e., dry, normal, and wet, which are determined by the standardized runoff index (SRI). Additionally, in the IMFD scenario, optimal cropping patterns are proposed to farmers by policymakers to increase water use efficiency. The heterogeneity in farmers’ response to adopting these cropping patterns is simulated through a well-known behavioral theory, prospect theory (PT). A novel optimization algorithm, NSGA-III, is utilized to determine the optimal operation of the reservoir and a bankruptcy scenario is utilized to share released water from the reservoir between the involved stakeholders. Results show the superiority of the IMFD scenario against the NMFD scenario in terms of decreasing water shortage as well as agricultural and environmental vulnerability, especially in dry conditions due to implementing more sustainable solutions. The average annual financial wealth generated by the IMFD scenario is greater than that of the NMFD scenario by about 68% through development in the industrial activities as a more profitable sector. Also, the utilization of PT shows how downstream and upstream farmers behave distinctly towards policymakers’ recommendations because they have different viewpoints about the amount of available water.

Model Analysis of Eco-Innovation for National Decarbonisation Transition in Integrated European Energy System

Consolidation with European social, economic and environmental programmes in the framework of Ukraine’s integration into the European energy space has become extremely important given the growing threats to energy security and should become the basis for greening regional and national innovation systems in the context of decarbonisation, the minimisation of carbon emissions and the transition to alternative energy sources. The comparison of the regions of the country by the level of enterprise innovation and the extrapolation of these results to the share of such enterprises in the total number of industrial entities in the regions helped identify their lack of correlation and emphasised the lack of stable dependence between industrial development and innovation activity. The methodology of the article includes a number of general scientific, special and interdisciplinary methods that allowed the screening of areas for the most favourable economic development, taking into account the synergistic component of regional development and achieving the research goal. The aim of this article is to analyse the innovative component of regional and national economic development for the implementation of decarbonisation and green energy transition in Ukraine, as well as substantiate the world’s leading imperatives and national directions for effective integration into relevant European programmes. An analysis of Ukraine’s rating status in several international indices of environmental efficiency and innovation activity in the regions showed the lack of correlation between regions of Ukraine, which actualises the search for the most effective drivers of economic development. At the same time, the consolidation of efforts of national stakeholders of innovative development in a country with relevant European institutions, particularly in the direction of greening regional economic systems, will ensure the development of innovative regions and industries, which will in turn be drivers of related territories and industries while ensuring a synergistic effect.

The effect of doping MoSe2 by clusters of noble metals on its adsorption for NH3

The development of industrial activities is associated with negative impacts on the quality of the environment including emission of hazardous gases. Therefore, it is critical to produce sensitive and selective gas detectors in order to monitor and maintain its good quality. This work investigates the effect of noble metal doping of MoSe2 on its adsorption of ammonia (NH3) gas. Pristine and noble metal doped MoSe2 structures are examined computationally using density functional theory (DFT). Clusters of timers of each Pt, Au, and Ag along with their combination are utilized for doping. The influence of doping MoSe2 structure on its adsorption energy and distance of NH3 gas, density of states (DOS), charge transfer between NH3 and the MoSe2 structures, and band structure is explored. When compared to the pristine structure, the doped MoSe2 structures reveal significant changes in electronic characteristics that are reflected on the DOS and band structures. New energy bands have evolved near to the Fermi level because of modifying the MoSe2 structure. The adsorption capacity of the doped structures is greatly enhanced due to incorporation of noble metals. Herein, the magnitude of adsorption energy increases and the adsorption distance deceases for NH3 gas. Consequently, the sensitivity is improved in comparison to the pristine structure. This study shows that noble metal doping of MoSe2 by clusters of trimers can be a useful approach for developing sensitive NH3 gas detectors.

Foreign direct investments could be a privileged instrument for the mitigation of the technological gap, the dynamization of technological and industrial catch- up and the consolidation of the technological and scientific content of national industrial production, in addition to the modernization of productive apparatus, the expansion of industrial exports, and the celerity of their technological rise in the economies in a position of industrial takeoff. The internationalization of production favored by the rise of global value chains, as part of the process of international segmentation of production processes, has undeniably propelled the emergence of new industrial specializations and the restructuring of organizational models of production, namely in emerging countries as well as in developing countries, based on a heap of factors of attractiveness and exploitation of factorial and productive advantages, both comparative and competitive. The objective of this paper is to highlight the factors that motivate the choices and scenarios for the redeployment of production sites at the international scale, while measuring the impact of inward FDI on the scope of the export performance of host economies, by exploring the resulting effects on the level of industrial competitiveness, creative, research and development activities and inventive capabilities, total factor productivity, externalities and the absorptive capacity of technology transfer in the local productive system, through the ordinary least squares methodology over an analytical span of nearly three decades and a panel of 10 emerging and developing economies.
