to develop and analyze evidence of content validity of educational videos about bathing newborns in bed in a neonatal unit. applied and methodological research, carried out from December/2020 to February/2022, in three phases: pre-production, production, post-production. Validity was carried out by nurses specializing in social communication and nursing professionals, including the Brazilian Sign Language and assessment by nursing students. The Content Validity Index and Cronbach's alpha above 0.8 were considered for analysis. the videos were entitled "Best practices: bathing newborns in the heated crib" and "Best practices: bathing newborns in the incubator", lasting seven minutes each, divided into six scenes that demonstrated the approach to parents, environment and material organization, preparing newborns, bathing and after-bath care. the videos will support permanent education processes, academic training and professional training in nursing.

RESUMO Objetivo: desenvolver e analisar evidências de validade de conteúdo de vídeos educativos sobre o banho do recém-nascido no leito em unidade neonatal. Método: pesquisa aplicada e metodológica, desenvolvida de dezembro/2020 a fevereiro/2022, em três fases: pré-produção, produção, pós-produção. A validação foi realizada por enfermeiros doutores especialistas na área da comunicação social e profissionais da enfermagem, incluindo-se a Língua Brasileira de Sinais e avaliação por estudantes de enfermagem. O Índice de Validade de Conteúdo e do alfa de Cronbach acima de 0,8 foram considerados para análise. Resultados: os vídeos intitularam-se “Boas práticas: banho do recém-nascido no berço aquecido” e “Boas práticas: banho do recém-nascido na incubadora”, com duração de sete minutos cada, dividido em seis cenas que demonstraram abordagem dos pais, organização do ambiente e materiais, preparo do recém-nascido, banho e cuidados após o banho. Conclusão: os vídeos subsidiarão processos de educação permanente, formação acadêmica e capacitação profissional em enfermagem.

Masks for at-risk population: nursing promoting biosafety in pandemic times.

To describe a proposal for making and distributing masks for population in risk, with guidance on the stages of making them and the care in handling them based on the development of educational video and infographic. Experience report on the stages of the process of training people to make fabric masks for the population at risk, between March and June 2020, in a city in the interior of São Paulo. 1,650 masks were made and distributed to vulnerable population groups from different contexts and tutorial video and infographic were elaborated and released to enable people to make their own masks with resources available at home. It was possible to manufacture and distribute masks for the population at risk and develop educational actions to contain the disease, given the advance of confirmed cases and deaths by Covid-19, corroborating the role of nursing in health education.

A framework for the development of educational video: An empirical approach

Video has been widely used as an effective media for delivering varied educational content. The enormous expansion of educational video is due to its effectiveness and to the spectacular evolution of video construction technology. Modern technology allows the rapid and economic development of educational videos as Software Systems. Such videos may be fully developed using software tools without the need for cameras or other expensive resources, e.g. actors. In this paper, we propose a framework for the effective development of Educational Video. The proposed framework consists of a methodology and a set of design guidelines, both oriented towards the achievement of the learning objectives related to an Educational Video. Experimentally, we compare videos produced following the proposed framework with videos produced following a well-known alternative methodology. Experimental results give rise to the success of our approach and encourage further exploration.

The development of an educational video to motivate teens with asthma to be more involved during medical visits and to improve medication adherence

Objectives: Our objective was to develop a series of short educational videos for teens and parents to watch before pediatric visits to motivate teens to be more actively involved during their visits. Methods: The development of the short educational videos was theoretically guided by Social Cognitive Theory. First we conducted four focus groups with teens (ages 11 to 17) with asthma, four focus groups with the teens' parents, and seven focus groups with pediatric providers from four clinics. The research team, which included two teens with asthma and their parents, analyzed the focus group transcripts for themes and then developed the initial video script. Next, a visual storyboard was reviewed by focus groups with parents and four with teens to identify areas of the script for improvement. The English videos were then produced. Focus groups with Hispanic parents and teens were then conducted for advice on how to modify the videos to make a more culturally appropriate Spanish version. Results: Based on focus group results, teen newscasters narrate six one- to two-minute videos with different themes: (a) how to get mom off your back, (b) asthma triggers, (c) staying active with asthma, (d) tracking asthma symptoms, (e) how to talk to your doctor and (f) having confidence with asthma. Each video clip has three key messages and emphasizes how teens should discuss these messages with their providers. Conclusions: Teens, parents, and providers gave us excellent insight into developing videos to increase teen involvement during medical visits.

Development of an educational video to improve HIV-related knowledge, attitudes and prevention among company workers in Ecuador

Objective: To develop and assess an innovative educational video package for improving HIV knowledge, attitudes and practices among company workers in Ecuador. Methods: The design and development of the HIV prevention educational video was based on the results of a large-scale survey conducted in 115 companies (commerce, manufacturing and real estate) and among 1,732 workers in the three most populous provinces of Ecuador (Pichincha, Guayas and Azuay). Two focus groups (workers of different job categories and HIV experts from various domains) evaluated the video by means of an 11-item questionnaire scoring the concept, script, technical aspects, potential impact, content and quality of the digital production. Results: The video produced was 16-minutes long. The two focus groups indicated their overall satisfaction with the initial version of the video and their scores were high. They felt the video kept their interest, was easy to understand, and evidenced the good use of graphics, voice audio and narrative to impact on the audience. The experts were, however, slightly more critical than workers and made some minor suggestions about the content and the need to test the video’s cultural appropriateness and degree of comprehension, both of which improved the video prior to its final release. Conclusion: Video-based HIV intervention programmes targeting company workers may have value in improving knowledge and reducing the risk of HIV transmission in Ecuador.
