Quality optimised design of English multimedia courseware combined with 4C comprehensive design model

Development and students' evaluation of a blended online and offline pedagogy for physical education theory curriculum in China during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The outbreak and continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged the implementation of physical education theory (PET) curriculums among global colleges and universities. This study aimed to describe the design and students’ evaluation of a blended “Sports Multimedia Courseware Design” course among Chinese university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using information communication technologies, a 4-month blended course was developed, which consisted of 36 credits (18-credit online self-learning + 18-credit offline group-learning). A total of 1300 Chinese university students who majored in physical education, completed the blended course from Mar to Jun 2020, among which 238 (69.75% males; 21 ± 1.2 years) were randomly recruited to evaluate the course in terms of three aspects: (1) online self-learning, (2) offline group-learning, and (3) overall learning outcomes. A descriptive analysis was conducted using the IBM SPSS 27.0. Students’ overall positive evaluation supported a successful development and implementation of the blended course. Over 90% of students fulfilled the learning tasks and satisfied with the online learning resources. About 83% of students indicated high levels of autonomous motivation and engagement in online self-learning. Approximately 88% of students showed positive attitudes to the offline group-learning content, while the participation rate (60%) was relatively lower than of the online self-learning. Over 50% of the students indicated self-improvements in diverse aspects after attending the blended course. Blended online and offline pedagogy shows apparent promise in delivering the PET course among Chinese university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Further application and comprehensive evaluation are warranted in the future.

The Development and Application of Multimedia Technology in College Gymnastics Teaching

Abstract In recent years, information technology has developed at a rapid pace and is almost everywhere closely linked in people’s work, life, and learning. Information technology has a certain role in improving people’s lives, enhancing learning, and promoting the quality of work. Using literature methods, interview methods, and analytical inductive methods, etc, on the basis of reading a large number of professional theoretical books on gymnastics teaching, multimedia technology, and modern teaching and reform, the application of gymnastics teaching in colleges in China has been studied theoretically. This article discusses the college gymnastics teaching compared with other cultural studies with the characteristics and studies the feasibility of multimedia technology in college physical education and the supporting role of teaching in gymnastics and gymnastics multimedia courseware design and production. It is hoped that through the research carried out in this paper, the application of multimedia technology in college gymnastics teaching in China can be given theoretical guidance and reference that can play a role in solving and answering questions in the current multimedia application process. College gymnastics workers will apply multimedia technology more effectively and skillfully in the future.

Multimedia Teaching of College Musical Education Based on Deep Learning

In view of the current situation of musical education and the need for reform in China, we adopt two different methods, i.e., literature method and interview method in this research work. From these methods, we read a lot of musical education, multimedia technology, and modern teaching and reform. This research work is divided into two main phases. Firstly, the article mainly discusses the characteristics of college musical education compared with other cultural courses and the feasibility of multimedia technology and the auxiliary function of musical education that is applied in school’s musical education. Secondly, brain computing attempts to analyze things by simulating the structure and information processing of biological neural networks. The intelligent learning characteristic of a deep learning algorithm is proposed to monitor the process of musical education teaching and analyze the process quality. Finally, we introduced the design and production of network multimedia courseware which will help in theoretical guidance and reference to the application of multimedia technology in college musical education in China. Moreover, the outcome of the proposed model can play a role in solving and answering questions in the current multimedia application process and Chinese college music workers will apply multimedia technology more effectively and skillfully.

Although the use of multimedia web design in education has drawn the interest of instructors in the modern learning process, the role of gender in such a process has not yet explored properly. The purpose of this research is therefore to evaluate the effects of gender on learners’ achievements when studying from the proposed platform. Therefore, multimedia courseware was built at the very early stage. Then, the students were divided based on their gender into two groups (male and female). The learning performance of each group gets compared using t-test. Result showed that no significant difference occurs between the two groups. This means that the proposed design is equally fitting the learners of both genders. In addition, the result obtained has shown that gender has no effect on learners' output. In conclusion, this study provides a guideline for the design of multimedia courseware. It contributes to the theories of gender and learning to come up with a clear understanding of the type of design elements that can be used for positive learning experience.

The development of Newton's Law of Motion courseware multimedia is based on the problem analysis from the diagnostic test students enrolled in the course of Physics 1. This courseware is developed based on the ASSURE model by using computer equipment and authoring software: Macromedia Authorware 7.0, Macromedia Flash MX 2004 and Abode Photoshop 6.5. The design of this courseware is based on Gagne’s teaching model and learning theory: Behaviorism, Cognitive, and Constructivism. The findings of the development multimedia courseware are discussed in terms of design for teaching and learning Physics 1. The study of design and development of multimedia courseware is important in order to improve the effectiveness of teaching and learning processes as well as to increase the collection of multimedia learning materials.

The Function of Introducing Multimedia Technology into Badminton Teaching in Colleges and Universities

In the modern society, the application of multimedia technology in education teaching field is more and more common, the emergence of multimedia technology for modern education teaching provides a feasible teaching means. As an important course in college physical education, the application of multimedia technology in badminton teaching can optimize the teaching and training process of basic badminton technology, so as to better stimulate students' interest in badminton learning and promote the improvement of teaching level. This paper analyzes the effect of multimedia technology on badminton teaching. With the development of modern information technology, it is more and more common for multimedia technology to enter college physical education, especially the infiltration of multimedia technology into badminton teaching, which can effectively improve college students' interest in badminton learning and master the correct movement technology. In addition, it can break through the limitation of time and space, further enrich the classroom teaching thinking and classroom teaching design, broaden the vision of college students badminton, stimulate innovative thinking of college students, for the popularity and development of badminton in colleges and universities to provide a broad space for development, at the same time to badminton teachers with more severe challenges. As badminton education workers in colleges and universities, therefore, needs to change ideas, raise awareness, and actively learning and update the multimedia theory of knowledge and technology, bold practice, reform and innovation, on the basis of the physical and mental characteristics of college students and badminton technical features designed to match good courseware, at the same time, as colleges and universities should actively create out training opportunities for physical education teachers, strengthen communication, promote communication, to improve the quality of design of multimedia courseware.

Understanding the role of user interface design in fostering students’ learning process in a multimedia courseware learning environment: insights from a Malaysian case study

With the increased availability and use of information and communication tools in education, multimedia courseware design has gained the attention of instructors and multimedia developers in a bid to foster student learning. However, there is still scanty literature with regard to how user interface design of multimedia course environments fosters student learning process. The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions students at a Higher learning institution in Malaysia on how user interface design fosters their learning process in multimedia courseware. This study adopted a qualitative design with semi-structured interviews as the data collection tool. Two postgraduate students participated in the in-depth interviews after learning from a multimedia module on how to use Excel software. Thematic analysis was used to derive meaning from students’ experiences with the learning courseware. From the interviews, it was found that the nature and usability of the interface design of multimedia courseware influences learning motivation, interactivity and cognitive load. The participants however identified software and hardware issues as the key challenges in using the multimedia courseware. Suggestions on how to improve future multimedia courseware were also noted. This research contributes to the area of E-learning by highlighting the need to design multimedia courseware interfaces that enhance student learning motivation, manage cognitive load and foster interactivity. It is thus recommended that further studies be carried on larger samples, using other research approaches and designs to allow for generalisability of the research findings on user interface design and learning process in multimedia courseware environment.

Design and development of an information technology fundamentals multimedia courseware for dynamic learning environment

This research proposed and developed a multimedia courseware in Information Technology (IT) Fundamentals based on the dynamic learning environment which provides self-paced learning material for IT Fundamentals students. Further, this study asked the participation of faculty members to contribute lecture materials and recommend presentation for each lecture material that were suggested while past students were tapped to contribute localized questions and problems that were included in the quiz database. In addition, this research addresses the challenges in creating a learning module that caters the needs of different types of learners in a student-centered environment employing educational materials that were displayed in various formats which enable students to interact with the materials being presented as needed in their own time. The proponents utilized the descriptive and developmental research design. Descriptive was used to de?ine the needed requirements as an input in the development of the proposed multimedia courseware. These requirements were processed through different phases using developmental research namely: (1) planning phase, (2) development phase, (3) validation phase, (4) acceptance phase, and (5) output phase. The result of the validity and acceptability showed that faculty members and students agree on the content and features of the proposed multimedia courseware. The validity and acceptability test indicate positive acceptance from both faculty members and students, however, there are still rooms for improvement before gaining maximum acceptance from the students.

The Effects of Multimedia Courseware Design Based on Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning on Academic Achievement and Instructional Efficiency

The main aim of this study is to search the effect of teaching software which was designed based on Mayer’s Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning Principles (2001) on students’ academic achievement, retention levels and instructional efficiency. With this aim, post-test scores and repeated post-test scores of second grade students for Measurement and Evaluation course at Cukurova University, Faculty of Education, Computer and Instruction Education Technology Department were used. The study was carried out with the experimental group including 37 students and the control group consisting of 36 students on statistical concepts. While the teaching for the experimental group was carried out via software prepared considering cognitive theory principles in multimedia learning, the control group was taught via a computer presentation prepared by a subject expert. To collect the data for the study, statistical concepts academic achievement test and cognitive load scale were utilized. The results of the study indicated that teaching via a software designed in line with cognitive theory principles in multimedia learning was found to be more successful in students’ academic success, retention in learning and instructional efficiency when compared with teaching via computer presentation.

Multimedia Courseware for Teaching Arabic Vocabulary: Let's Learn from the Experts

This study attempts to analyze and evaluate theories and design principles for the design and development of multimedia program for teaching and learning Arabic vocabulary among non-native speakers. In this paper, the researchers mentioned about the research tools, sampling technique and steps as well as population which are related to the design and development process of multimedia courseware which were conducted among the experts in the subject matters (SME). The study proposes the implementation theories of social constructivism by Vygotsky (1978), second language acquisition by Krashen (1984), multimedia learning by Mayer (2001) and ADDIE instructional model by Dick & Carey (1990). The feedbacks were gathered from various SME experts in teaching Arabic as a second language (TASL) and instructional design (ID) who have participated in the study. This paper has concluded the initial theories of design and development of multimedia learning courseware as proposed by the SMEs as outcome of this paper that can be used by the researcher in the design and development processes of related multimedia learning courseware in language learning

Curve Analysis on Learning Potential and Multimedia Music Courseware Design Based on Web Technology

With the continuous development of Internet, Internet technology has laid a solid foundation for the implementation of multimedia teaching courseware design. Based on computer Internet resource, multimedia courseware design is paid more and more attention, and Internet multimedia courseware design network frame construction has become one of the urgent problems in the field of education. This paper analyses the access path and method of computer Internet multimedia English courseware resources, on this basis, Web multimedia music courseware students end is constructed based on OMAP590 audio design idea, and build the analysis model of music learning potential curve under the multimedia interactive music courseware interface, to a certain extent to provide theoretical basis and technical support for the multimedia courseware design and music teaching machine assessment.

Conceptual Design Of An Intelligent Hypermedia Language Learning Environment

A major concern in the area of foreign language instruction has been the enhancement of effective teaching strategies and pedagogical approaches. There has been an increasing attempt in recent years to apply the new technology as part of this endeavor. This paper will describe a current research effort to determine the nature of effective instructional methodology and multimedia courseware design in the area of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) through a reconstruction and reanalysis of an existing Korean interactive video courseware. By studying its design decisions and underlying pedagogical principles documented through the Instructional Design Environment or IDE, empirical research will be conducted on how learners respond to and make use of various HELP options in acquiring their language skills. The project's ultimate objective is to apply these research results to the design and development of intelligent authoring tools for language learning.

Research findings have shown that learners encountered many learning difficulties. However, for effective learning one has to know oneself and having knowledge about one's strengths and weaknesses. The process of teaching and learning will be more effective and meaningful when teachers and learners know their potential, their unique styles, strengths and weaknesses in learning. Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences (MI) is a psychological and educational theory espousing that ten types of exist in humans, each relating to a different sphere of human life and activity. Nowadays, how learners interpret knowledge differs greatly from what used to be perceived by the teachers. The manner in which teachers deliver the knowledge may not match the expectations of the learners, thus results in teachers' instructional methods became inefficient and learners failed to learn. This mismatch calls for new and innovative instructional design of delivery methods that are student- centered which cater to their needs. This paper discusses the design and development of a multiple intelligence multimedia courseware (MIMCO) for the teaching and learning of some chemistry concepts. The courseware was designed in a systematic manner embedding principles of constructivist and contextual learning using the ADDIE model of instructional design. Learners are able to learn in their specific intelligence as the courseware caters to eight modes of intelligences as the learning environment. A preliminary evaluation of the courseware showed positive impact on the learners.

Discussion on Design of Multimedia Courseware of Bridge Engineering

Computer aided instruction is an indispensable modern teaching method. How to make multimedia technology and traditional teaching methods complement each other to form an organic wholeness, and give full play to the advantages of multimedia technology is now a new research spot. In this paper, the characteristics of multimedia teaching method are analyzed in terms of advantages and disadvantages. Base on the bridge engineering course, the design method of multimedia courseware is introduced in terms of design basis, concept, teaching mode design, multimedia data embedding technology and so on. Problems deserving of attention in designing of the multimedia courseware such as the relationship between modern and traditional teaching method, matching of courseware and teaching points are also discussed in this paper.

The Triangular Issues in Multimedia Language Courseware Design in the Vietnamese Efl Environment

In this paper, among many issues pertaining to the design of EFL multimedia courseware, I would like to discuss three correlated major fields which are of utmost significance in accordance with the literature and my personal reflection on the present context of foreign language teaching and learning at the University of Danang (UD), Vietnam. The presentation will consist of three parts, including the exploration of potential users of a CALL product; what should be included and what strategies are needed for the selection of the contents of the product, and the essential criteria for the multimedia design. These are followed by a summary of the triangular issues.

Collaborative Approach to Multimedia Courseware Design and Development

This paper reports on a collaborative multimedia project between the Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management and the College of Education at the University of Houston. The conceptual framework that supports this approach is based on action learning theory and constructivist philosophy. Graduate students in the instructional technology program in the College of Education worked in collaborative design teams with a client, a faculty member from the College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, to design and develop four modules of Internet-based courseware for an actual instructional context in an undergraduate class in human resource management. The course instructor from the College of Education served as a facilitator and project manager. Data was gathered from both the students and the client-faculty member through a variety of methods that included pre- and post-course surveys, participant interviews, journals, and observations. Students expressed satisfaction with working on an actual project with a real client and noted that the skills learned through the collaborative process were frequently used after the course in job-related situations. In the beginning of the development period, there was some confusion and uncertainty about individual and team roles as well as expectations about the client-faculty member feedback and participation. Team building skills were noted as a needed addition to the curriculum. At the end of the development phase, both the students and the client-faculty member expressed a strong satisfaction with the process of combining both technical skills and practice in an authentic context.
