Quantification of delamination resistance data of FRP composites and its limits

Quantitative delamination resistance data of fibre-reinforced polymer-matrix (FRP) composites for quasi-static or cyclic fatigue loads are determined under different loading modes and load rates, respectively. Such data find use, e.g., in FRP materials’ development, materials’ selection, assessment of durability, or structural design. Round robins during test development yielded repeatability and reproducibility (coefficients of variation) of roughly 10 to 25%. This scatter has several different sources. Intrinsic material variability amounts to a few percent at best, at least for advanced manufacturing processes. This intrinsic scatter is essential for material comparisons and structural design. Measurement resolution specified in standardised test procedures yields a maximum of 4–5% variability. Most of the remaining scatter comes from other, extrinsic sources. Test operator actions, e.g., choice of test set-up, manual data acquisition or data analysis can yield extrinsic scatter. Damage mechanisms during delamination initiation and propagation act on the micro- and meso-scale, typically a few micrometer to a few hundred micrometer in size, with corresponding time-scales estimated to between a few tens of nanoseconds and a few microseconds. Defect size-scales are hence several orders of magnitudes lower than test specimen and structural scales, respectively. Predictive capability of models using such test data for structures are, therefore, limited. Major issues are up-scaling from straight beam-like specimens to larger shell-like structures, possibly with complex shape and varying thickness as well as from unidirectional fibre orientation to multidirectional lay-ups.

Biomimetic heat-localized and solar absorption-enhanced hollow structural nanofibrous membrane for clean water production from saline water and dye wastewater

The rational design of material structures can be an effective approach to enhance the performance of solar-driven clean water production. In this study, a hollow structural nanofibrous membrane was developed by mimicking the hollow structure of polar bear hair using coaxial electrospinning. The shell layer consisted of carbon nanoparticles (C NPs) decorated CuO nanosheets (C@CuO), that exhibited photothermal conversion capacity. Meanwhile, the core layer containing hydrophilic polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was eliminated to generate the hollow structure. The C NPs enhanced the membrane’s light absorption to increase thermal energy harvesting, while the CuO nanosheets improved the membrane’s wettability enhancing the water supply. Furthermore, the hollow structure limited air convection, prevented heat conduction, and minimized heat radiation, enabling heat localization to be achieved inside the membrane to suppress heat loss during evaporation. For 3.5 wt% saline water and actual dye wastewater, the C@CuO nanofibrous membrane achieved high evaporation rates of 1.36 kg·m−2·h−1 and 1.31 kg·m−2·h−1, respectively, under 1 sun illumination. Moreover, even after continuous 6-h evaporation tests, the evaporation rate of the C@CuO membrane remained virtually unchanged, highlighting its long-term stability with regard to salt resistance in real-world applications. Additionally, the remarkable flexibility of the C@CuO membrane offers convenience during operation and guarantees dimensional stability when it is subjected to external stresses. These discoveries should inspire subsequent research on developing delicate architectural materials and exploring their potential applications in various fields, including energy generation, clean water production, and thermal insulation.

Simulation-Directed Construction of Bamboo-Forest-Like Heat Conduction Networks to Enhance Silicon Rubber Composites' Heat Conduction Properties.

Highly vertically thermally conductive silicon rubber (SiR) composites are widely used as thermal interface materials (TIMs) for chip cooling. Herein, inspired by water transport and transpiration of Moso bamboo-forests extensively existing in south China, and guided by filler self-assembly simulation, bamboo-forest-like heat conduction networks, with bamboo-stems-like vertically aligned polydopamine-coated carbon fibers (VA-PCFs), and bamboo-leaves-like horizontally layered Al2O3(HL-Al2O3), are rationally designed and constructed. VA-PCF/HL-Al2O3/SiR composites demonstrated enhanced heat conduction properties, and their through-plane thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity reached 6.47W(mK)-1 and 3.98mm2s-1 at 12vol% PCF and 4vol% Al2O3 loadings, which are 32% and 38% higher than those of VA-PCF (12vol%) /SiR composites, respectively. The heat conduction enhancement mechanisms of VA-PCF/HL-Al2O3 networks on their SiR composites are revealed by multiscale simulation: HL-Al2O3 bridges the separate VA-PCF heat flow channels, and transfers more heat to the matrix, thereby increasing the vertical heat flux in composites. Along with high volume resistivity, low compression modulus, and coefficient of thermal expansion, VA-PCF/HL-Al2O3/SiR composites demonstrate great application potential as TIMs, which is proven using multiphysics simulation. This work not only makes a meaningful attempt at simulation-driven biomimetic material structure design but also provides inspiration for the preparation of TIMs.

Breaking new ground in metal-ion battery anodes: First principles design of Dirac nodal line semimetallic carbon materials

With the rapid development of electronic devices, the demand for batteries has gradually increased, and existing batteries can no longer satisfy it. In this paper, a three-dimensional honeycomb carbon material is designed and termed pmma-C32. The mechanical stability, dynamic stability, thermal stability, and mechanical stability were investigated through first-principles molecular dynamics, phonon spectrum, and the Born-Huangkun criterion. The calculation results show that pmma-C32 not only has good thermodynamic stability, but also has static stability. Similar to graphene, pmma-C32 exhibits semi-metallic characteristics, featuring two Dirac node lines with high Fermi velocity, indicating a high capacity for electron transport. As a metal-ion battery material, pmma-C32 exhibits higher theoretical capacity(836.8, 732.2, and 418.4 mA h/g for Li, Na, and K), lower diffusion barrier (0.06–0.12 eV for Li, 0.10–0.11 eV for Na, and 0.05–0.06 eV for K), and lower open circuit voltage (0.34 V for Li, 0.37 V for Na, and 0.74 V for K). These remarkable properties endow semimetallic pmma-C32 as a promising anode material for metal-ion batteries, providing fast charge and discharge rates. This research not only broadens the family of three-dimensional carbon materials, but also greatly improves the performance for universal metal-ion battery anode materials through material structure design.

High-Performance Stretchable Strain Sensors Based on Auxetic Fabrics for Human Motion Detection.

Wearable strain sensors play a pivotal role in real-time human motion detection and health monitoring. Traditional fabric-based strain sensors, typically with a positive Poisson's ratio, face challenges in maintaining sensitivity and comfort during human motion due to conflicting resistance changes in different strain directions. In this work, high-performance stretchable strain sensors are developed based on graphene-modified auxetic fabrics (GMAF) for human motion detection in smart wearable devices. The proposed GMAF sensors, with a negative Poisson's ratio achieved through commercially available warp-knitting technology, exhibit an 8-fold improvement in sensitivity compared to conventional plain fabric sensors. The unique auxetic fabric structure enhances sensitivity by synchronizing resistance changes in both wale and course directions. The GMAF sensors demonstrate excellent washability, showing only slight degradation in auxeticity and an acceptable increase in resistance after 10 standard wash cycles. The GMAF sensors maintain stability under different strain levels and various motion frequencies, emphasizing their dynamic performance. The sensors exhibit superior conformability to joint movements, which effectively monitor a full range of motions, including joint bending, sports activities, and subtle actions like coughing and swallowing. The research underscores a promising approach to achieve industrial-scale production of wearable sensors with improved performance and comfort through fabric structure design.

A Review of Electrospun Carbon-based Nanofibers Materials Used in Lithium-Sulfur Batteries.

Commercial lithium-ion batteries are gradually approaching their theoretical values (200-250 Wh kg-1), which cannot meet the fast-growing energy storage demands. Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are anticipated to supersede lithium-ion batteries as the next-generation energy storage system owing to their high theoretical specific capacity (1675 mAh g-1) and energy density (2600 Wh kg-1). Nonetheless, Li-S batteries encounter several challenges, including the inadequate conductivity of sulfur and lithium sulfide, sulfur's volume expansion, and the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides, all of which significantly impact the practical utilization of Li-S batteries. Electrospun carbon-based nanofibers can simultaneously resolve these issues with their economical preparation, distinctive nanostructure, and exceptional flexibility. This review presents the most recent research findings on electrospun carbon-based nanofibers materials serving as sulfur hosts and interlayer components in Li-S batteries. We analyzed the impact of the material's structural design on the performance of Li-S batteries and the relative underlying mechanism. Finally, the current challenges and issues faced by carbon-based nanofibers composites in the application of Li-S batteries are summarized, and the future development trajectory are outlined.

Structural design of two types of composites with high resistance to atomic oxygen attack based on polyimide matrices: a molecular dynamics simulation study

Because of their exceptional properties, polyimide (PI) polymers are widely used in various types of spacecraft. However, in low Earth orbit, spacecraft using these polymers are susceptible to atomic oxygen (AO) erosion, which will cause them to lose their original performance. Covering the PI surface with a protective coating and adding fillers to the PI matrix are two traditional methods to improve the AO erosion resistance of PI. However, a single protective method does not provide a good protective effect and does not necessarily balance the relationship between the AO resistance of the composites and other properties, such as mechanical properties. The structural design of composites can perfectly solve such problems. Therefore, two kinds of AO-resistant materials based on the PI matrix are designed in this paper, one is a hybrid-filled composite with nano-silica filler and graphene filler, and the other is a double-layer coated composite based on the structural design of a traditional bulletproof vest. And the AO incidence simulation of these two types of materials was carried out using ReaxFF-based MD simulation. The results show that the mixed filling of graphene and nano-silica not only greatly improves the AO resistance of the PI matrix, but also greatly improves the tensile mechanical properties of the matrix by adjusting the appropriate mixing ratio. The structure of PI-Gr-SiO2 (The structures are PI, Gr and SiO2 from bottom up, respectively. SiO2 will be the first to take the impact of AO.) possesses excellent resistance to AO erosion, and at the end of 64 ps of AO erosion, the PI matrix did not suffer any damage. This paper provides a new idea of material structure design using the MD method, which provides a new approach to improve the AO erosion resistance of PI and is expected to design new composites adapted to a variety of extreme environments in the future.

Enhancing Photoelectric Response of Self-powered UV and Visible Detectors Using CuO/ZnO NRs Heterojunctions.

Understanding the development and performance of UV photodetectors is crucial, given their extensive applications in both military and civilian sectors. The evolution of self-powered photodetectors, especially those based on heterojunction nanostructures, has demonstrated significant potential for enhancing both device efficiency and functionality. By exploring the effects of material composition and structural design, can optimize these devices for improved photoelectric response and energy efficiency. In this study, we prepared the CuO/ZnO NRs heterojunction photodetector on an ITO substrate to enhance photoelectric response of UV detectors. The fabrication process utilized the hydrothermal method and the spin coating technique. The effect of CuO concentration on the optical response of the photodetector under UV radiation at wavelengths of 405nm and 385nm was investigated. The samples were characterized using FESSEM, XRD, EDX, and UV-Vis spectra. The device is further distinguished by its standard I-V curves and photocurrent-time curves, which demonstrate the device's behavior under various light conditions. The prepared thin films are polycrystalline, with CuO layers displaying monoclinic phases and ZnO layers exhibiting a hexagonal wurtzite phase. All samples have the potential to exhibit photovoltaic properties and self-powered capabilities. Furthermore, the I-V curve confirms that the photocurrent mechanism of these junctions adheres to the recombination standard, in addition to demonstrating correction behavior. A sample with a CuO concentration of 0.1M shows the highest photosensitivity, reaching 340,700%, and a photocurrent gain (Iph/Idark) of 3,408 when exposed to light irradiation at 405nm. Additionally, it exhibits a rapid response time of 0.8s.

Additive manufacturing of polymer composite millimeter‐wave components: Recent progress, novel applications, and challenges

AbstractWith the advent of 5G/6G for radar and space communication systems, various millimeter‐wave (MMW) components are rapidly innovated for multi‐functional, higher integrated and miniaturized solutions across diverse industries and applications. Polymer composites‐based additive manufacturing (AM), an advanced manufacturing technique, can manufacture MMW components with high fabrication resolution, intricate structural design, adjustable dielectric properties, and functionally gradient distribution characteristics. This paper outlines the state‐of‐the‐art polymer composite MMW components, their design, and manufacturing techniques. An integrated “material‐structure‐manufacturing‐performance” design conceptual framework of polymer composite MMW components is discussed in terms of material design, structure design, and process design. Moreover, multi‐functional polymer composite MMW structures focus on electromagnetic wave absorption and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding functions. Moreover, novel applications of MMW polymer composite components enabled by AM on radar/sensing, communication, enclosure, and miscellaneous applications are discussed. Furthermore, future perspectives and current challenges are identified to provide new insights into multi‐functional 3D‐printed MMW products, exploring new possibilities for next‐generation advanced MMW technology.Highlights The 3D‐printed MMW components and additive manufacturing are reviewed. The integrated “material‐structure‐manufacturing‐performance” concept is introduced. 3D‐printed MMW components are discussed on radar, enclosure, and miscellaneous applications. Future perspectives and challenges of 3D‐printed MMW components are addressed.

A regularized variational mechanics theory for modeling the evolution of brittle crack networks in composite materials with sharp interfaces

In the design of structural materials, there is traditionally a tradeoff between achieving high strength and achieving high toughness. Nature offers creative solutions to this problem in the form of structural biomaterials (SBs), intelligent arrangements of mineral and organic phases which possess greater strength and toughness than the constituents. The micro-architecture of SBs like nacre and sea sponge spicules are characterized by weak organic interfaces between brittle mineral phases. To better understand the toughening mechanisms in SBs requires simulation techniques which can resolve arbitrary interface and bulk fracture patterns.In this work, we present a modified regularization of Variational Fracture Theory (VFT) that allows for simulation of fracture in materials and structures with weak interfaces. The core of our approach is to widen the weak interfaces on a length scale proportional to that of the diffuse damage field, and assign a reduced fracture toughness therein. We show that in 2D the modified regularized functionals Γ-converge to that for sharp cracks. The resulting thin weak interfaces have fracture toughness which depends on the bulk material fracture toughness, the widened interface fracture toughness, and the ratio of the widened interface length scale to the crack regularization length scale. We next apply our modified regularization within a computer implementation of regularized VFT, which we term RVFTI. We assess the performance of RVFTI in 2D by reproducing the effective interface fracture toughness predicted by the Γ-convergence theory and simulating crack trapping at a bi-material interface. We then use RVFTI to study toughening in SB-inspired microarchitectures, namely layered materials and materials with wavy interfaces.

Advances in Filament Structure of 3D Bioprinted Biodegradable Bone Repair Scaffolds.

Conventional bone repair scaffolds can no longer meet the high standards and requirements of clinical applications in terms of preparation process and service performance. Studies have shown that the diversity of filament structures of implantable scaffolds is closely related to their overall properties (mechanical properties, degradation properties, and biological properties). To better elucidate the characteristics and advantages of different filament structures, this paper retrieves and summarizes the state of the art in the filament structure of the three-dimensional (3D) bioprinted biodegradable bone repair scaffolds, mainly including single-layer structure, double-layer structure, hollow structure, core-shell structure and bionic structures. The eximious performance of the novel scaffolds was discussed from different aspects (material composition, ink configuration, printing parameters, etc.). Besides, the additional functions of the current bone repair scaffold, such as chondrogenesis, angiogenesis, anti-bacteria, and anti-tumor, were also concluded. Finally, the paper prospects the future material selection, structural design, functional development, and performance optimization of bone repair scaffolds.

One-pot construction of gradient colloidal gel coating for stable and efficient emulsion separation

Gradient gel coatings possess superior interfacial bonding strength and surface wettability, providing new ideas for the structure design of separation materials. However, simply and effectively combining colloidal gels that have excellent separation potential with gradient structure design remains a great challenge. Herein, a polymerization-induced microphase separation strategy based on metal ions is developed for constructing colloidal gel coatings with gradient structure on the stainless steel mesh. The colloidal gel is formed by hydrogen-bond complexation and microphase separation of acrylamide and methacrylic acid during polymerization. The metal ions generated by the hydrogen evolution corrosion of stainless steel mesh can not only be used to construct a continuous gradient structure by influencing the microphase separation process but also enhance the mechanical properties and stability of the gel coating. The preparation strategies of traditional gradient materials are limited in the manufacturing and application processes due to their complicated preparation procedures and potential requirement for special equipment assistance. In contrast, this strategy can simply and efficiently prepare colloidal gel coatings with continuous gradient structure by one-pot method under strict monomer ratio. Its unique colloid network demonstrates better wettability and permeability than conventional polymer gel. The prepared gradient colloidal gel coating exhibits excellent separation efficiency (above 99.9 %) and water flux recovery rate (≈98.75 %) in separating surfactant-stabilized emulsion. Therefore, this work provides new insights into the design and preparation of gradient colloidal gels, promoting their development in the field of water treatment.

Design of High‐Entropy Relaxor Ferroelectrics for Comprehensive Energy Storage Enhancement

AbstractFor an ideal electrostatic energy storage dielectric capacitor, the pursuit of simultaneously high energy density and efficiency presents a formidable challenge. Typically, under an applied electric field, an increase in energy density is usually accompanied with a deteriorated energy storage efficiency due to the escalated hysteretic loss, which is harmful to the reliability of the capacitor. Thus, a well‐balanced performance of improved energy density and maintained high efficiency is highly demanded. In this work, a structure with amorphous phases embedded in polycrystalline nanograins using the entropy tactic, leading to a higher transport barrier of carrier is constructed. Hence, the hysteretic loss is largely suppressed at a high electric field and the high polarization is still sustained in the high‐entropy film. Consequently, an ultrahigh energy density of 139.5 J cm−3 with a high efficiency of 87.9%, and a high figure of merit of 1153 are simultaneously achieved in the high‐entropy Ba2Bi4Ti5O18‐based relaxor ferroelectric. This work offers a promising avenue in materials structure design for advanced high‐power energy storage applications.

Soft robotic actuators with asymmetrically engineered liquid crystal elastomers

Physical intelligence uses material properties and structural design for actuation. This study designed an asymmetrical cylinder with metal needles, springs, and inorganic salt. When heated, it generates a twisting force that induces rolling by shifting the center of gravity. Cylindrical liquid crystal elastomers (CLCEs) were used as wheels in a cargo transfer device. Additionally, actuators capable of grabbing were developed using particle-doped CLCEs with salt and PDA particles. These asymmetrical CLCEs show potential for soft robot applications, including AI components and polymeric light/heat control systems. BackgroundFew reports exist on shifting the center of gravity in liquid crystal elastomers with dopants, enabling rotation or bending. MethodsTo fabricate CLCEs with asymmetric constructions, different dopants and particles were mixed with an LCE mixture and injected into a cylindrical glass substrate for polymerization. Significant findingsThis study demonstrates the creation of CLCEs with shifted centers of gravity through various dopants and twisting angles. These elastomers can roll, making them ideal for cargo transfer, with movement speed controllable by adjusting temperature, dopants, and twisting angles. They also hold promise for developing robotic arms that can grasp objects, controlled through heat or light exposure.

Research Progress of Flexible Piezoresistive Sensors Based on Polymer Porous Materials.

Flexible piezoresistive sensors are in high demand in areas such as wearable devices, electronic skin, and human-machine interfaces due to their advantageous features, including low power consumption, excellent bending stability, broad testing pressure range, and simple manufacturing technology. With the advancement of intelligent technology, higher requirements for the sensitivity, accuracy, response time, measurement range, and weather resistance of piezoresistive sensors are emerging. Due to the designability of polymer porous materials and conductive phases, and with more multivariate combinations, it is possible to achieve higher sensitivity and lower detection limits, which are more promising than traditional flexible sensor materials. Based on this, this work reviews recent advancements in research on flexible pressure sensors utilizing polymer porous materials. Furthermore, this review examines sensor performance optimization and development from the perspectives of three-dimensional porous flexible substrate regulation, sensing material selection and composite technology, and substrate and sensing material structure design.

Generative Design of Inorganic Compounds Using Deep Diffusion Language Models.

Due to the vast chemical space, discovering materials with a specific function is challenging. Chemical formulas are obligated to conform to a set of exacting criteria, such as charge neutrality, balanced electronegativity, synthesizability, and mechanical stability. In response to this formidable task, we introduce a deep-learning-based generative model for material composition and structure design by learning and exploiting explicit and implicit chemical knowledge. Our pipeline first uses deep diffusion language models as the generator of compositions and then applies a template-based crystal structure prediction algorithm to predict their corresponding structures, which is then followed by structure relaxation using a universal graph neural network-based potential. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations of the formation energies and energy-above-the-hull analysis are used to validate new structures generated through our pipeline. Based on the DFT calculation results, six new materials, including Ti2HfO5, TaNbP, YMoN2, TaReO4, HfTiO2, and HfMnO2, with formation energy less than zero have been found. Remarkably, among these, four materials, namely, Ti2HfO5, TaNbP, YMoN2, and TaReO4, exhibit an e-above-hull energy of less than 0.3 eV. These findings have proved the effectiveness of our approach.

Singing buildings: effects and potential causes of wind-induced noise from balcony systems

Modern high-rise residential buildings are wrapped in balcony railings of a countless number of styles, shapes, and materials. This study investigates the effects and potential causes of wind-induced noise and vibration caused by balcony railings; a phenomenon that continues to gain significance in urban environments. This study includes field measurements to quantify the extent and nature of wind-induced noise and vibration from various balcony railing designs exposed to a wide variety of meteorological conditions. A detailed examination of potential causes is also undertaken, considering material properties, structural design, and aerodynamic characteristics. Finite element analysis is employed to model and simulate the dynamic response of several different balcony railings, providing insights into the key factors influencing noise generation. The findings of this study offer practical insights into optimizing balcony railing designs to minimize wind-induced noise.

Flexible self-powered triboelectric nanogenerator sensor for wind speed measurement driven by moving trains

Flexible self-powered sensors have been extensively applied to the Internet of Things, structural health monitoring (SHM), and intelligent transportation. It would be more demanding for the power supply to these sensors during the long-term maintenance of the rail transit system. The wind pressure/velocity generated by high-speed trains poses a substantial threat to safety of human, and new sensors without an external power supply should be developed to monitor wind pressure/velocity in the trackside. Flexible self-powered wind triboelectric nanogenerator (W-TENG) sensor with a single-electrode mode based on conductive hydrogel is designed to wind pressure/velocity monitoring without power supply by harvesting wind energy. It is devoted the relationship between the output voltage of the sensors and the wind pressure/velocity driven by high-speed trains. Material selection and structural design methods are adopted to enhance the energy harvesting efficiency and sensing accuracy of self-powered W-TENG sensors. Open-circuit current of 2.8 μA and open-circuit voltage of 12 V are achieved, and the output voltage signal has the linear relationship with trackside wind pressure/velocity. Field tests are implemented to evaluate the performance of self-powered W-TENG sensors in wind pressure/velocity measurement caused by moving trains, providing an idea to SHM application in intelligent transmit systems.

Self-powered noncontact triboelectric nanogenerators with microstructured square-loop surface and dielectric electron-blocking layer for far-distance motion perception and trajectory tracking

Continuous monitoring of indoor human activities is crucial for the healthcare of elder people or patients. The self-powered noncontact triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) sensor has been recently developed as a promising noncontact sensing tool with many advantages, but its capability of detecting object motion in a far distance still remains inferior. Herein, by implementing multiple strategies of micro-structuring triboelectric surface, introducing dielectric layer, and using functional nano fillers, we develop a single-electrode-mode noncontact TENG sensor by constructing a triboelectric cobalt nanoporous carbon/Ecoflex nanocomposite layer with microstructured square-loop surface on top of a dielectric copper calcium titanate/Ecoflex nanocomposite layer with colossal permittivity. After in-depth optimization of the material selection, component composition and structure design, the developed sensor with effective electrode area of 6.25 cm2 can deliver a high output voltage of 29 V at 1 cm, and is capable of detecting motions at an extremely far distance of 6 m. Towards practical applications, the TENG unit for single-motion detection of mouth breathing, human walking, and basketball bouncing are demonstrated. Furthermore, multiple TENG units can be assembled into array to realize the complex trajectory tracking for the use of proximity touch pad, indoor human activity monitoring, and garage car parking. This work for the first time extends the TENG noncontact sensing capability to several meters, which is potential in the proximity motion detection and indoor activity monitoring.

The Latest Advances in Ink-Based Nanogenerators: From Materials to Applications.

Nanogenerators possess the capability to harvest faint energy from the environment. Among them, thermoelectric (TE), triboelectric, piezoelectric (PE), and moisture-enabled nanogenerators represent promising approaches to micro-nano energy collection. These nanogenerators have seen considerable progress in material optimization and structural design. Printing technology has facilitated the large-scale manufacturing of nanogenerators. Although inks can be compatible with most traditional functional materials, this inevitably leads to a decrease in the electrical performance of the materials, necessitating control over the rheological properties of the inks. Furthermore, printing technology offers increased structural design flexibility. This review provides a comprehensive framework for ink-based nanogenerators, encompassing ink material optimization and device structural design, including improvements in ink performance, control of rheological properties, and efficient energy harvesting structures. Additionally, it highlights ink-based nanogenerators that incorporate textile technology and hybrid energy technologies, reviewing their latest advancements in energy collection and self-powered sensing. The discussion also addresses the main challenges faced and future directions for development.
