Technology and Local Language: Development of An Android-Based Sundanese-English Electronic Dictionary for The Baduy Community in Indonesia

Although a large amount of research on Sundanese language has been conducted, little attention has been paid to technology-based Sundanese language use. Therefore, academic and practical efforts should be made to contribute to the preservation of regional language use by developing educational technology-based innovations. The purpose of this research is to develop an Android smartphone-based bilingual dictionary application to facilitate English learning and Sundanese language preservation, especially for the Baduy tribe community. This research is categorized into research and development using the Design Based Research (DBR) method. This research was conducted in four stages, namely: (1) initial analysis stage, (2) prototype design development stage, (3) trial stage, and (4) reflection stage. Research data were collected through instruments including literature studies, interviews, expert assessments, and questionnaires. Then the data was analyzed descriptively as material for developing Android dictionary prototypes to be tested and evaluated until a qualified application model was obtained. The results showed that the development of an Android smartphone-based Sundanese dictionary contributes to English learning and Sundanese language preservation. Implications and recommendations from this research and recommendations are also discussed for future research.

Principles of instructional design in adult education: Vectors of change and modelling opportunities based on educational technologies

Introduction. The issue of instructional design development is examined, with a particular focus on the potential for developing variable models based on technological solutions which facilitate the synchronisation of adult learning with the demands of the labour market. The aim of this article is to determine the principles of the instructional design for adults, and to identify the key vectors of change influenced by educational technology (EdTech). Materials and Methods. The methodology was based on ecosystem and socio- environmental approaches, as well as the methods of content analysis, expert interviews and modelling. The method of a qualitative content analysis was used to examine scientific sources with a search depth of 10 years. The selection of experts for interviews was carried out on a criterion sample: work experience in adult education, continuing professional development, consulting, and EdTech. The data were analysed on 15 expert interviews. The authors employed the modelling method to construct a conceptual model of instructional design. Results. The authors have identified and revealed the differences between instructional design and classical didactics, presented in the educational paradigm shift towards a greater learner agency, an open multidimensional learning environment, and ecosystem connections. As a result, the authors have pointed out three stages of instructional design development, revealed its peculiarities, and identi-fied potential avenues for change. The authors have summarised and formulated the principles of a modern data-driven instructional design, based on the examples of EdTech companies Skillbox, Skyeng, Stepik, Synergy, SkillFactory, Universalium, Synchronisation. The principles are as follows: personali-sation, customisation, variability, reduction of a feedback loop, analysis of group and individual educational experiences, immersion in practice and social context. Furthermore, the authors have con-structed and described a conceptual model of the instructional design for adults. Conclusions. In conclusion, the authors present a summary of the principles identified in the field of the modern data-driven instructional design for adult education. Instructional design is regard-ed as a scientific discipline and practice. The model of instructional design developed by the authors provides adaptability and the capacity for redesigning educational programmes for adults in continuing professional development and EdTech, thereby contributing to the creation of a lifelong learning eco-system.

The engineering legacy of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022: Al Janoub stadium

Al Janoub was the first new-build stadium designed for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. This paper describes the journey of the engineering design of the 40 000 seat stadium, from the concept and detailed design development stages led by AECOM and Zaha Hadid Architects, through to the design and build contract on site. An architectural jewel located in Al Wakrah, just south of the city of Doha, the stadium was a world-first, using state-of-the-art computational analysis and physical modelling to create a safe, cooled environment that satisfies FIFA's requirements for both player and spectator comfort in the extreme temperatures of the region. A sustainable post-tournament legacy was also a key factor of the design, allowing it to be reduced to a 20 000-capacity stadium for the local football club and community. The task of integrating the stadium's stringent performance requirements on this path-finder project, including extensive scientific research and development, was a challenge that was overcome through close collaboration between the design team and the Supreme Committee's subject matter experts. The project's success as a test-bed helped it to set the standard for other stadia as part of the overall FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 programme.

Experiential Learning in Daylighting Course through Performance Measurements

The main objective of this study is to adapt research studies on performance measurements for daylighting design to education. An experimental course has been introduced in Missouri University of Science and Technology, and the curriculum was developed by including active learning beside the traditional learning environment. The parameters used in the schematic design and design development stages are presented, and the curriculum topics and practical experience are explained in the study. Particularly performance measurements are associated with course assignments. Curriculum results are evaluated qualitatively with assignment results and quantitatively with surveys. Current and emerging metrics are included in lab assignments and results of course assessments show that emerging metrics in daylighting technology and practical experience had attraction over participants. As a result of the evaluation of two sample courses, differences emerge regarding the courses that can be given at undergraduate and graduate levels. These differences are grouped into traditional lecture learning environments and experiential learning environments. The learning outcomes of the course curricula are summarized as gaining the knowledge and skills to communicate technically at the level of design practitioner for the student aiming for undergraduate graduation and at the level of the research community for the student aiming for graduate level.

Measuring the Effectiveness of Guided Inquiry-Based Modules for Training Analytical Thinking Skills in Teaching Materials on the Structure and Function of Plant Tissues for Class VIII SMP Negeri 22 Surakarta

Research and development objectives: measure the effectiveness of analytical thinking skills through guided inquiry-based modules. Data analysis used during research and development is descriptive analysis, percentage techniques and anacova tests. Research and development of teaching modules uses the Borg Gall procedural model which has been modified into nine stages: 1) research and information gathering stage, 2) planning stage, 3) initial product design development stage, 4) initial field trial stage, 5) initial first stage product revision, 6) limited field test stage, 7) second stage product revision stage, 8) operational field test stage, 9) final product revision stage. The results of research and development show: the guided inquiry-based module is effective in training analytical thinking skills, because based on the results of the Anakova test, it shows that there are differences in post-test results between the experimental, control and model classes. teaching material on the structure and function of plant tissues with F Table (0.05) = 2.37 F Calculate (0.05: 2) = 6.35.

Implementation of Lean Manufacturing to Improve Production Efficiency: A Case Study of Electrical and Electronic Company in Malaysia

The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role in the economy development of a country includes Malaysia. Lean manufacturing is a production method that aims to minimize waste and optimize efficiency in the manufacturing process.By applying lean manufacturing,it enablesa company topursues continuous improvement and integration of labor with a clear focus on value adding activities and elimination of waste. However, this concept is still not widely being applied by all type of company or limited in certain aspects only. Development of Character Assessment Instrument on English Learning FOR Junior High School Students

This research endeavors to address a pressing need in education, specifically, the development of a robust character education assessment tool for junior high school students in the context of English subjects. The primary focus of this study is producing character education assessment instruments in English subjects for junior high school students with good construction. This study is a research and development using the ADDIE development model. The instrument development process consisted of the analysis stage, the design stage, development stage, implementation stage and evaluation stage. The instrument developed is an assessment instrument on English subjects in the form of self-assessment, analyzed using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The instrument developed has met the validity and reliability requirements with the results of content validity shown by the Aiken index of 0.955 while the test results with CFA show the loading factor value on each item > 0.4 and the student character measurement model compiled is fit with the theorized model by proving the results of p-values = 0.056; CFI = 0.979; TLI = 0.972; RMSEA = 0.031; SRMR = 0.055 with the results of the reliability of the items in each dimension/factor > 0.7.

Design and Failure Analysis of Motorbike Sub-frame Using Finite Element Analysis

<div>All two-wheeler industries validate their product’s fatigue life on proving track before heading for mass production. Proving test tracks are made to simulate the end-user environment in order to find out the possible fatigue failures during each development stage of vehicle design, which in turn helps the CAE analysts to verify the design before it goes to the end-user hands. In this article we present the design and failure analysis of sub-frame assembly of motorbike observed during the accelerated fatigue test on proving track. Sub-frame main rod was found broken exactly between two weld endings during fatigue test before reaching 6% of the target fatigue life. Possible causes of sub-frame failures have been identified/analyzed in detail using fish bone diagram. A finite element analysis (FEA) model of sub-frame assembly was developed and a random response analysis was carried out on initial design. Acceleration input loads measured from test track have been given at the sub-frame mounting points to calculate output responses. Output responses show a high magnitude of amplitude stresses on the sub-frame main rod exactly where track test failure occurred. Fishbone diagram analysis indicates that the improper design of the stay bracket, stress concentrations regions in the design, improper weld/tool fixture, and method of welding could be reasons for failure. FEA on the final design concept shows a reduction of amplitude stress to 49% and an increase of fatigue life to an infinite limit as compared to initial design.</div>

A monthly agenda is a tool used to plan, coordinate and monitor planned and executed actions aimed at achieving organizational or personal goals. Until now, DAMAN Telkom Gaharu Medan still makes monthly agendas in a time-consuming and ineffective way, namely by sending letters or invitations and other materials. Therefore, DAMAN Telkom Gaharu Medan has developed a web-based employee monthly agenda information system which can make it easier to prepare monthly agendas and can be accessed by all workers. The system has the following features: employee monthly agenda, home, admin, login, and print data. By utilizing text editors such as Notepad++, Sublime, etc., together with xampp software, the concept of this information system was developed. The ADDIE method which combines analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation is used in the system design development process. System design, menu design, coding, and testing are several stages that constitute the development stages of an information system design. The ability to display monthly agenda data on DAMAN Telkom Gaharu Medan is the final result of developing a web-based monthly agenda information system. In order to improve employee performance at DAMAN Telkom, Gaharu Medan will make it easier for workers to access the monthly agenda online.

Digital Code as an Object Graphic Design for Dissemination and Promotion of Brand

Summary The article reveals the features of the graphic language of coded information by identifying, systematizing, and combining QR-codes and AR-codes at the present stage of graphic design development. The analysis of coded information in different types of graphic design is presented: advertising, environmental, motion, print, packaging, set prop, web, mobile app, art, and illustration graphic design. The role of a graphic designer in the development of digital codes of various types for various fields of application is described. It is proved that the coded information is a trigger between the online and offline worlds. The article also reveals the importance of using coded information for the formation, development, and improvement of the brand.

Multirepresentation-Based Physics E-Module Development

This research is a research and development with the final result of developing a multi-representation-based Physics E-Module. The development of the Physics E-Module aims to produce innovations in teaching materials that can be applied to the learning process and to support independent or student-centred learning. The Physics E-Module was developed on a multi-representational basis. Multirepresentation aims for students to get various representations of a material. The development research method used is the ADDIE design development method. This method was chosen because it is one of the basic development methods and is easy to implement. The ADDIE design development stages include Analyze, Development, Implementation, and Evaluate. The product feasibility test was carried out by involving 16 Tadris IPA Biologi UIN Mataram students. The Flip PDF Corporate supports the appearance of the multi-representation-based Physics E-Module so that the appearance of the Physics E-Module has an effect like opening a printed book. The multi-representation used in the Physics E-Module is verbal, graphic image, and audio-visual representations. Expert validators in the media and material carry out the feasibility test. The feasibility test results in the media sector are 90%, with a very feasible category. The feasibility test results in the material sector are 94.6%, with a very feasible category. The scores of the student's responses to the development of multi-representation-based Physics E-Modules range from 3.5 to 4, with a maximum score of 4. The results of this study have implications for the provision of valid and feasible Basic Physics teaching material for use in learning, especially online learning.

Early childhood age is in a stage of growth and development both physically and mentally. In their activities at school, children who study at the kindergarten level need learning facilities, one of which is study tables and chairs. Sometimes these facilities do not meet the condition of the student's body, dealing with its terms of size, shape and parts. The impact of the mismatch between the school fascilities such asa tables and chairs with the body size of school children is one of the obstacles in the efforts of improving learning outcomes.
 Tetris is one of the most favorite games that prioritizes competition among players, but still the players have to follows the rules of the game. This toy is quite interesting and popular among young children. Based on this background, efforts are made to solve the problem, one of which is by making tables and chairs for kindergarten children with the concept of the Tetris game.
 In designing products so that are well directed, the Vinod Goel method is used with the stages of Preliminary Design, Design Development, and Final Design and Prototype.
 The results of this design are intended for children aged 5 - 6 years, with components of chairs, tables, Tetris cubes and Tetris puzzles, with configurations according to ergonomics and anthropometry. The connection system uses a butt joint with nail reinforcement and glue adhesive. The material used is multiplex, with a shape of a tetris concept, a retro fifties and colorful design style with rainbow colors

Students Worksheets Based on the Kampar Community for Social Science Learning in Grade IV Elementary School

The learning process in the classroom is one of the determining factors for the success of education in producing quality human beings, with character, having extensive knowledge, and being able to compete. Books are facilities that must exist in education and play an important role in the life of modern society, including the field of education as teaching materials. One form of teaching materials in classroom learning is student worksheets (LKPD). The purpose of this study was to describe the results of LKPD development that had reached the product design development stage which had been validated twice by experts. This study uses the method of development or Research and Development (R&D) with a 4-D model. The results of the second validation by experts obtained an assessment of draft-1 with an average value of 61.8% with an invalid category, so that improvements were made according to comments from reviewers by producing draft-2 with an average of 84.81% with a very valid category. The 7 aspects of the assessment so that it produces LKPD products for social studies learning based on local wisdom of the Kampar community which are worthy of being used for testing teacher and student responses and can be used in the learning process in the classroom.

Toward Automated Field Ballast Condition Evaluation: Development of a Ballast Scanning Vehicle

Ballast plays an essential role in the response of a railroad track to repeated loading. Ballast degradation may lead to poor drainage, lateral instability, and excessive settlement. Extreme levels of ballast degradation may cause service interruptions and safety concerns. Therefore, ballast condition evaluation is of great importance in ensuring safe and efficient operations. Current state-of-the-practice evaluation methods are heavily dependent on visual inspection, field sampling, and laboratory testing, which are subjective and labor-intensive. Meanwhile, existing inspection systems for railroads have not been customized for conducting in-depth evaluation of the ballast layer, including determination of the level of fouling and aggregate size and shape characteristics. For this reason, there is an urgent need for the development of a novel, vison-based ballast scanning platform. This paper introduces the ballast scanning vehicle (BSV), an automated platform that acquires high-quality images, videos, and 3-D height maps of ballast from plan and profile views of cut sections and trenches. The BSV is capable of performing data analysis and generating accurate and comprehensive evaluations of ballast conditions through geotechnical analyses. The essential design components, prototyping, and development stages are described. Further, preliminary data collected from testing on two in-service railroad tracks behind a shoulder ballast cleaner are presented to validate the functions of the BSV. The fully developed BSV serves as a data collection device for ballast evaluation and provides continuous and high-quality images for a deep learning-based computer vision algorithm for field ballast condition evaluation and geotechnical analyses.

PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN PAPAN FLANEL BERKARAKTER (PAFTER) PADA MATA PELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN PANCASILA UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KARAKTER RELIGIUS SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR

This research is based on the limited learning media that is less creative and fun in the teaching and learning process, causing students to pay less attention and tend to like their world, especially in applying religious character values. The purpose of this research is to develop flannel board media with character, with the content of religious character practices contained in the Pancasila education module of the first principle of the independent curriculum for grade 1 elementary school. The research method used is research and development (R&D). This research adapts and modifies the Borg and Gall research model which is modified in 6 stages of research, including the potential and problem stage, data collection stage, product design development stage, product expert validation stage, product revision/design stage, limited product trial stage. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The results of research and development show that media flannel board media with character (PAFTER) through a series of questionnaires, expert validation, trials. The validation results were declared very feasible. This is supported based on the assessment of material experts getting a percentage of 88.6% and media experts getting a percentage of 86.3% with a very feasible category, and the assessment of the class teacher getting a percentage of 88.8% and conducting a limited trial on students and getting a good response on a Likert Scale with a category very feasible to use in increasing the cultivation of religious character in grade 1 students.

Component method applied to base plate connections of steel racks

This paper deals with the analytical prediction of the rotational strength and stiffness of base plate connections in steel storage racks under bending moment and axial compressive force. Based on the testing prescriptions of the European Code EN15512 and on the findings of an experimental campaign on 21 full scale specimens tested at four different values of constant axial force and under two different types of connection set-up, an analytical procedure relying on the component method is proposed to estimate the rotational strength and stiffness of all load bearing components, and, by suitable assembly of the contributing parts, to obtain a prediction of the overall strength and stiffness of the connection.The aim is to contribute to the definition of improved analytical tools of possible use in the design and product development stage or in the update of existing design codes.Quantitative results are, however, still mixed. Further investigations appear to be required for the stiffness, mainly to describe the nonlinear moment rotation curves observed in the experiments. Strength results are more accurate and as well successful in predicting the failure mode and the loss of strength with increasing compression.

DigiBunai™ - Open Source CAD Software for Sustainable Handloom Industry in India

This paper aims to raise awareness about DigiBunai™, an open-source CAD technology developed by Digital India Corporation (DIC) under the auspices of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. This initiative has been taken by the Indian government to support handloom designers and weavers with the use of ICT solutions and make the handloom sector sustainable. One of the major aspects of this paper is to understand the various stages of design development for woven products concerning manual methods as well as functions available in CAD software. This paper explains how the newly developed technology can help to reduce the time and effort required to create intricate designs of handloom products. The information regarding the use of technology to create weave patterns, artworks, and simulated fabrics has been summarized here, with the option to view the entire layout of the product. The uniqueness of this technology is that it can be used to design traditional Indian saree, which is the most significant value-added product of Handloom Weavers of India.

Green thinking of Indonesian architects

This study explores the environmental-based design, which is framed into green thinking as the input of the design process. Five Indonesian architects were selected as this study’s subject based on their understanding of this design concept. The qualitative strategy is employed with the tactic of in-depth interviews and content analysis with the help of NVivo software to produce themes and patterns regarding this study’s discussion. This study comes with two main findings: the concept’s inclination of Indonesian traditional architecture, which incorporates local materials and conditions employment as these five Indonesian architects’ tendency toward green thinking. The second one is green thinking’s accommodation in the design development stage, also the research and site analysis stage, which are perceived as input of the design process.

Inherent Occupational Health Assessment for Alternative Hydrogen Synthesis Pathways

Hydrogen is one of the most investigated topics in energy transition due to its sustainability and vast applicability. However, it has health and safety challenges like any other chemical process. Most attention focuses on this fuel production's technology and economic potential with some work related to its safety impact. This study conducts an occupational health hazard assessment on two hydrogen synthesis routes at the design research and development stage. This study compares the outcomes to find the healthiest Hydrogen production route. This research leveraged the Inherent Occupational Health Index (IOHI) as the assessment to measure the health challenges peculiar to each production route. Three different index calculation types additive, average, and worst case are used to achieve the comparison. The information used in the evaluation is available at the R&D design stage. The study shows that both synthesis routes assessed steam methane reforming and coal gasification fall under the hazardous category of the IOHI index standard. But steam methane reforming has a lower IOHI index standard value of 16 than coal gasification 17.7. Therefore, although both synthesis routes are hazardous and pose occupational health risks to workers, steam methane reforming is a better alternative for hydrogen production from a health perspective.
