ANALISIS PERUBAHAN PENUTUPAN ;AHAN DAN FAKTOR PENDORONG PENGGUNAAN LAHAN KAWASAN HUTAN DESA LAIYA, MAROS

Land cover change is strongly influenced by land use. Increasing population growth results in the need for food and other needs. The causes of land use change are influenced by human activities or activities that directly affect land use. Physical, social and economic factors are factors that trigger land use change in Laiya Village, Cenrana District. The purpose of this study was to describe land cover change in Laiya Village, Cenrana Subdistrict for the period 2011, 2015 and 2019 and to determine the driving factors that influence land use change around the forest area of Laiya Village. This research uses GIS analysis to analyze and see land cover changes that occur and qualitative descriptive methods to determine land use changes. The period 2011-2015 mixed dryland agriculture decreased in area by 2,893.19 ha while shrubs increased in area by 2,744.51 ha. The period 2015-2019 mixed dryland agriculture experienced an increase in land area of 3,030.64 ha and shrubs experienced a decrease in land area of 2,744.51 ha. Factors that influence land use change are physical, social and economic factors. Socio-economic factors are the main driving factor of land use change, the need for land for settlements is increasing due to the high population density that occurs around the forest area of Laiya Village, Cenrana District, Maros Regency which causes people to utilize land as an economic source.

Long-term trends in land erosion and accretion within the Meghna-Tetulia-Feni River Estuary (1973–2023)

A comprehensive comprehension of the mechanisms governing land erosion and accretion is of utmost importance in the pursuit of sustainable management strategies for estuarine environments. The present study aims to examine the enduring patterns of land erosion and accretion in the Meghna-Tetulia-Feni River Estuary in Bangladesh over a span of five decades, from 1973 to 2023. The study utilizes a dataset comprising 24 Landsat images captured during six significant years (1973, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2023). The research employs both supervised and unsupervised classification techniques to demarcate the estuarine landscape into five distinct categories. These categories are subsequently reclassified into land and water classes for further analysis. The results suggest that there was a total land gain of 1406.91 km2 throughout the fifty-year period, with an average yearly increase of 28.14 km2. Significantly, the period spanning from 1980 to 1990 witnessed a notable increase in the net accretion rate, reaching a peak of 81.10 km2/year. Consequently, the total accretion during this period amounted to 1183.78 km2. In contrast, it is expected that the time span between 2010 and 2023 will experience a substantial decrease in land area, estimated to be roughly 705.73 km2. Given the significant geomorphological transformations and their wider economic and ecological consequences, this study proposes the implementation of an adaptable and flexible management approach that prioritizes the sustainable utilization of land and water resources in the Meghna-Tetulia-Feni River Estuary.

STRATEGI PENGEMBANGAN POTENSI PERKEBUNAN KOPI KABUPATEN MAGELANG

Coffee is a plantation commodity that has high economic value. Indonesian coffee consumption continues to increase due to the shifting trend of drinking coffee in society. Magelang Regency as a coffee producer has the potential to be developed. By considering the area of coffee plantations and the condition of Magelang Regency as a super-priority tourist destination, a strategy is needed to develop the potential of coffee as a good economically viable product. Thus, this study aims to analyze the coffee plantation development strategy in Magelang Regency through the Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) matrix. The results showed that the condition of coffee plantations in Magelang Regency experienced a decrease in land area from year to year. Strategy analysis in an effort to develop the potential of coffee plantations in Magelang Regency through SWOT analysis is in quadrant III. The strategy that can be implemented is a turn-around strategy through efforts to increase knowledge of cultivation, postharvest, and technology for coffee farmers, and rejuvenating coffee plants that are entering an unproductive period.

The Impact of Rice Farm Insurance on The Income of Farmers In Indonesia

The fluctuation of rice production in Indonesia over the last 5 years shows a downward trend due to a decrease in land area and increase risks. A government's effort to overcome the risks of rice farming is to establish rice farming insurance (AUTP). This research aims to analyze the factors that influence farmers' decisions to join rice farming insurance (AUTP) and how the impact of rice farming insurance on farming income in Indonesia. The data used was secondary data from the survey results from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in 2018. The number of samples was 470 farmers, consisting of 122 farmers who joined rice farming insurance and 358 farmers who did not take rice farming insurance. Data were analyzed using logistic regression and propensity score matching (PSM) methods. The results show that the variables of education level, participation in socialization, perceptions of decreased production, and production significantly influenced farmers' decisions to join rice farming insurance. The impact of insurance on farm income shows that the average farm income of farmers who follow rice farming insurance is higher than farmers who did not join rice farming insurance. Therefore, the government continued to encourage the implementation of the rice farming insurance program to increase the level of farmer participation and sustainability of the AUTP program. Impact of Agricultural Land Changes on Farmers’ Income in Cirasea Watershed, Bandung Regency, West Java

Changes from agricultural land to non-agricultural land are continuously occurring, especially in areas adjacent to cities. Land changes from agricultural to non-agricultural land will eliminate crops’ hydrological function, impacting rivers, including the Cirasea River. Besides, changes in agricultural land have an impact on the resulting agricultural productivity and income. This study’s main objective is to determine land area changes, productivity, and farmers’ income in 2011 - 2018 in the Cirasea watershed. A literature study was applied to this study. Secondary data were obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Ciparay, Ibun, Kertasari, Majalaya, Pacet, and Paseh Districts, Bandung Regency in Cirasea River Upstream. The study results showed an increase in land area, productivity, and agricultural income for vegetables (75%, 50%, and 68%, respectively) and rice field (16%, 0.32%, and 0.32%). In addition, there was a decrease in land area followed by a decrease in agricultural productivity and income for fruit commodities (-88%, -35%, -33%) and plantations (-97%, -1%, -1%). For eight years, farmers have relied on their income from vegetable commodities in Cirasea Watershed.

Sustainable value of rice farm based on economic efficiency in Yogyakarta, Indonesia

AbstractAn analytical and integrated approach to farming needs to be formulated to assist decision-making by policymakers. This is important for the sustainability of agriculture in Indonesia, especially in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, which has experienced a decrease in land area, production, and productivity in the last 5 years. This study aims to analyze the sustainability of rice farming using the sustainable-value approach, which is based on the economically efficient use of agricultural resources. Data were collected from rice farmers in 25 observation areas attached to eight river irrigation sources throughout the province. A criterion for economic efficiency has been used as a guideline for setting benchmarks for optimal input use. The study reveals that, in general, these rice farms had poor economic productivity values. The sustainable value distribution for rice farms exceeded the highest value but there was low sustained quality. This indicates the limited overall longevity but also the potential for sustainability. Therefore, in managing rice farms, economic, social, and environmental resources have to be used more effectively.

Analisis Faktor-Faktor yang Mempengaruhi Konversi Lahan Pertanian Sawah ke Non Pertanian di Kabupaten Banyumas Jawa Tengah

Agricultural land in Banyumas Regency has decreased from year to year due to population and economic growth. The farm rice fields in Banyumas Regency in 2017 were 66.210 hectares, reduced to 63.326 hectares in 2020 or decrease in land area of 4%. This research was aimed to examine the conversion rate of agricultural land in the Banyumas Regency and factors that determine the conversion of agricultural land in the Banyumas Regency. The primary method used was descriptive-analytical. Determination of the research location was using a purposive method in Banyumas Regency. The technique to analyze the data was Linear multiple regression (Ordinary Least Squares). The information which used in this research was secondary data in 2010 – 2020. The variables in this research are conversion of agricultural land, population, number of industries, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and Farmer’s terms of trade (FTT). This research shows that the conversion rate of agricultural land in Banyumas Regency is 8,45%, meaning that the average of arm rice fields in Banyumas regency for the last ten years (2010 – 2020) has decreased by 8,45%. The multiple linear regression analysis shows that the variables number of population, number of industry, and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) have a significant and positive effect on the conversion of agricultural land in Banyumas Regency. Farmer’s terms of trade (FTT) do not significantly affect agricultural land conversion in Banyumas Regency.

MONITORING PERUBAHAN AREAL PERSAWAHAN MENGGUNAKAN APLIKASI SISTEM INFORMASI GEOGRAFIS (Studi Kasus: Kecamatan Pallangga Kabupaten Gowa)

The area of agricultural land, especially paddy fields, is related to the level of rice production. Conversion of agricultural land to non-agriculture will have an impact on the availability of rice supply. This study aims to identify changes in paddy field land use in 2005 - 2016 using high-resolution satellite imagery and calculate the need for rice per capita in Pallangga District. This research utilizes the application of geographic information systems in monitoring changes in paddy field use. The method used in the classification of land use is digitizing on screen. The conversion of paddy fields to non-paddy fields was obtained from the results of overlapping maps of Pallangga District land use maps in 2005 and 2016 and presented in the form of cross tabulations. The accuracy test results obtained the overall accuracy value of 98.04%, and the kappa accuracy value of 0.98. This study shows that paddy field area has decreased by 305.25 ha. The change consisted of 17.68 ha into a water body, turned into a garden of 132.86 ha and became a settlement of 154.71 ha. The conversion of paddy fields in Pallangga District in 2005-2016 affected rice production. The results of the analysis of the needs of rice per capita per year show that in 2017 Pallangga District is surplus in the supply of rice to its population. However, based on population projection, the decrease in land area and rice production in Pallangga Subdistrict in 2020 was unable to meet the rice needs of its population of 1,027 tons

Yield response of ten varieties of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) cultivated on dryland in rainy season

Sweet potato is a tuber commodity and one of alternative crops in Indonesia. The demand of sweet potato in Indonesia continues to increase. However, the supply of sweet potatoes for consumption estimated is 2020 in Indonesia will be deficit. Low production of sweet potato is basically due to the decrease of land area as cultivation production and also sweet potatoes have a low yield when planted in rainy season. Based on the high utilization of sweet potato make demand for this commodities continues to increase.Therefore, several strategies to increase crop yields of sweet potato needs to be done. This study aimed to elucidate various sweet potato varieties that can cultivated on dry land in the rainy season. This study was conducted from November 2016 until March 2017 using a randomized block design with treatments of ten varieties of sweet potato consisting of (V1) Papua Solossa variety, (V2) Jago variety, (V3) Kidal variety, (V4) Antin-1variety, (V5) Sari variety, (V6) Sawentar variety, (V7) Beta-2variety, (V8) Antin-2variety, (V9) Antin-3 variety, (V10) Beta-1variety. The results showed different responses of each variety.The vegetative growth was high as shown by the LAI value of 7.23 at 90 days after planting. In conclusion, the sweet potato leaves had to be prune to boost the agronomic yield. Yields of ten varieties of sweet potato crops ranged from 8.86 to 44.76 t/ha. Some varieties such as Sari, Papua Salosa and Beta-2 varieties showed high yield although they were planted in moorland conditions in the rainy season.

The Cenozoic history of New Zealand temperate rainforests: comparisons with southern Australia and South America

ABSTRACTThe temperate rainforests of southern hemisphere continents share Gondwanan antecedents, but subsequent trajectories exhibit divergent patterns. We review the Cenozoic history of major forest elements (c. 30 genera/families) of the temperate rainforests of New Zealand and compare these with South America and southeast Australia. From macro- and microfossil evidence, the major structural components of temperate rainforests in New Zealand have lineages dating back almost continuously to the Eocene or earlier. These include the tree ferns (Cyathea and Dicksonia), Agathis, all but one of the podocarps, Nothofagaceae and other broadleaved genera such as Lauraceae and Cunoniaceae. Collectively these taxa contribute approximately 50% of current biomass in New Zealand temperate forests. However, several previously important groups in the Cenozoic such as Araucaria, the Brassospora-type beeches, and Casuarinaceae became extinct in New Zealand in the Miocene to Pleistocene. Patterns of extinction are broadly similar in New Zealand and South America (mostly late Miocene to Pleistocene) in response to climate cooling along steepened environmental gradients whereas in southern Australia taxa became extinct later (Pleistocene) reflecting limited suitable habitat during glacials. The deep-time continuity evident in the composition of New Zealand temperate rainforests was not influenced by the decrease in land area during the maximum marine transgression in the late Oligocene (c. 25–24 million years ago). Forest canopy dominants and emergents appear to have remained remarkably stable, perhaps reflecting community resilience. However, new subcanopy and open habitat lineages arrived as forest taxa were extirpated and climates cooled, reducing potential forest habitats.

Study on Thermal Environment Evaluation in the Central Business District of Shanghai

abstractWith the quick development of Shanghai, energy consumption has increased fast in recent years, which leads to the environmental problems. In this paper, we proposed a cluster model to the CBD of Shanghai and have an evaluation on this plan in order to give a way to reduce the energy consumption and the emission of CO2 for air conditioning. The basic concept of cluster model in urban planning is that buildings and natural conditions (green lands or rivers) should be co-existed. Based on natural conditions in current urban area, we set more land for green areas and rivers as possible. And the decrease of land area will be made up with the construction of high-rises. The results were found that the cluster model could give a good answer to mitigate the thermal environment and CO2 emission. And this will also be available for reference for other megalopolis in Asia.
