In this work, the sunlight source is utilized for the Photovoltaic (PV) standalone network. The merits of sunlight sources are very optimal human resources needed, unlimited natural sources, plus easy operation. However, the solar power resource is nonlinear fashion. As a result, the operating point of the sunlight network fluctuates concerning sunlight intensity. So, in this article, the Modified Grey Wolf Methodology with Adaptive Fuzzy Logic Controller (MGWM-AFLC) is introduced to maintain the operating point of the sunlight system at the global power point position of the PV array. This controller traces the MPP with very low fluctuations in the PV-produced voltage. The advantages of this proposed method arefewer sensing devices required, less difficulty in development, more useful for rapid changes inthe sunlight temperatures, simpler to realize operation, greater economic growth, plus highly useful for household applications. The sunlight set-up generation voltage is lowwhich is improved by introducing the new Wide Power Rating High Voltage DC-DC Boost Converter (WPRHVBC). The features of this WPRHV converter are low voltage strain on semiconductor devices, few passive elements are enough to develop the circuit, plus easy understanding.

A novel development of a new single switch inductor coupled DC-DC converter for PV system with two-leg inverter

From the power generation history, the nonrenewable power sources utilization is falling extremely because of their demerits are high atmospheric pollution, more expensive, more catchment area for development, high fossil fuel transportation cost, less flexibility, and reliability. So, the sunlight systems are utilized in this work for feeding the power to the central grid. On the earth, the sunlight energy availability is more and it is more flexible for the installation. However, the sunlight photovoltaic (PV) module’s power production is very low. To improve the power generation of the PV network, a modified slider maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller is proposed in the first objective and it is interfaced with the sunlight system for capturing more sunlight insolation thereby moving the functioning point of the solar system from local MPP place to required global MPP place. The features of this sliding controller are continuous peak power production, easy development, less power dissipation losses, plus good dynamic system response. In the second objective, the available voltage of the PV is low which improved from low level to high level by utilizing the Wide voltage supply-inductor coupled converter. The development of this circuit needed very less inductive, plus capacitive components. Also, it is developed by selecting a single switch. As a result, the entire network power production cost is reduced. In the third objective, a two-leg inverter is proposed for the transformation of the DC voltage supply into three-phase powers. The MATLAB/Simulink tool is used to investigate the overall system.

Reduction of input voltage/current ripples of boost half-bridge DC-DC converter for photovoltaic micro-inverter

This paper describes a boost half-bridge DC-DC converter for photovoltaic system that reduces the input voltage and current ripples by using a 1:1 transformer and an auxiliary capacitor. The 1:1 transformer replaces the boost inductor in a previous boost half-bridge converter. The auxiliary capacitor is connected serially to the secondary coil of the 1:1 transformer, and resonates with the leakage inductance of the 1:1 transformer. The input voltage and current ripples are reduced by setting the switching frequency equal to the resonance frequency between the auxiliary capacitor and the leakage inductance, and by coupling the resonance current to the primary coil of the 1:1 transformer. The proposed converter had input voltage ripple less than 0.2 Vp.p, input current ripple less than 0.81 Ap.p, and power-conversion efficiency higher than 94.5% when the converter was operated at input voltage of 30–50 V, output voltage of 400 V, output power of 30–300 W, and switching frequency of 46 kHz. These experimental results show that the proposed converter is well suited for photovoltaic micro-inverter applications that require a small input capacitor, low input voltage, high input current, high output voltage, and high power-conversion efficiency.

Golden section search based maximum power point tracking strategy for a dual output DC-DC converter

Abstract This paper introduces an Golden Section Search based algorithm, along with an single input multi output DC-DC converter for photovoltaic systems. In contemplation for photovoltaic (PV) systems to escalate their efficiency of power generation, it is mandatory to locate the Maximum power point (MPP) under all possible illumination conditions. Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller is expected to obtain the MPP irrespective of the device and climatic changes. The basic principle and the implementation of the system is elaborated in this paper, along with an comparison of different hill-climbing algorithms. The analytic and simulated results show that the new method has the advantages of fast convergence, noise-resistance, and robustness.

A photovoltaic generator system with a DC/DC converter based on an integrated Boost-Ćuk topology

A new non-isolated DC-DC converter for photovoltaic systems is proposed in this paper. This converter topology is characterized by an integration of the classical Boost and Ćuk DC-DC converters. The proposed topology requires only a single power semiconductor switch, reduces voltage stress across diodes and power semiconductor switch while providing a continuous input current. Further, this topology allows extending the voltage static gain when compared with the conventional Boost converter. The new converter is regulated by a PWM technique at constant frequency that can be associated to a maximum power point tracking algorithm. Herein, the design considerations of this power converter are presented, and the characteristics of the proposed topology are confirmed by simulations and experiment results from a laboratory prototype.

Design of Soft Switching Interleaved Boost Converter for Photovoltaic Application

The objective of our study is to reduce the size of passive components and reduction of ripple in output voltage and input current by using interleaved soft switching dc-dc converter (interleaving action). The PV system converts solar energy into electrical energy but its output varies with variation of solar radiation and temperature. To provide impedance matching between PV and load a dc-dc converter with MPPT technique is used in PV (Photo Voltaic) Systems. This study incorporates design of the interleaved soft switching dc-dc converter for PV System by using P&O (Perturb and Observe) fuzzy logic controller. The P&O Fuzzy MPPT provides an accurate and fast converging under varying illumination and load conditions compared to conventional MPPT methods. The performance of the system is first analyzed by simulation using Matlab/Simulink software. The results of simulation were compared and analyzed.

Study on Delay Synchronizing Rectification Control Method of Bi-Directional DC-DC Converter for Photovoltaic System

A novel photovoltaic (PV) system is proposed, which exhibits the advantages of better protection and more efficient control on charge/discharge of the battery. Furthermore, it can realize power management of the system. The key point of power management is how to control the bi-directional converter effectively. Considering traditional soft start strategy would be ineffective for bi-directional converter in the double sources application for the possibility of damaging the power device, a new soft start control method named delay synchronizing rectification control method is proposed. A 500W prototype converter is built to verify the theoretical analysis and the control method.

Economic competitiveness of solar energy with conventional fuels and electricity

Concerns over environment and increased demand of energy have led the world to think about alternate energy sources such as wind, hydro, solar and fuel cells. Out of these, photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems have become increasingly important all over the world due its availability, cleanness, low maintenance cost and inexhaustible nature. But power produced by the photovoltaic system is stochastic in nature due to the variation of solar irradiation and cell temperature throughout the day. In order to track the varying power, a DC-DC converter with maximum power point tracker (MPPT) is used. Different MPPT algorithms have been proposed for tracking peak power from the PV panel. Selection of adequate DC-DC converter is also an important factor since it has an influence on overall performance of the PV system. This paper presents a comparative study on the characteristics of different non-isolated DC-DC converters and highlights the various research works that has been done on DC-DC converters based MPPT PV system. Study shows that selection of converter also has an impact on the overall performance of the PV system. Based on the survey and comparative study, selection criteria to choose DC-DC converter for PV system is described in this paper.
