This paper is about the application of data acquisition systems in industrial requirements for real time execution of events with industrial process control and automation. The main core of the system is an embedded hardware running a scaled-down version of Linux: a popular choice of operating system for embedded applications. On -line embedded web server is a challenging part of many embedded and real time data acquisition and control system applications. The World Wide Web is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP) to serve billion of users worldwide and allows the user to interface many real time embedded applications like data acquisition, Industrial automations and safety measures etc., In this project we approached towards the design and development of on-line Interactive Data Acquisition and Control System (IDACS) using ARM based embedded web server. It can be a network, intelligent and digital distributed control system. Single chip IDACS method improves the processing capability of a system and overcomes the problem of poor real time and reliability. This system uses ARM9 Processor portability with Linux operating system it makes the system which handling various processes based on multi tasking and reliable scheduling mechanisms. A novel approach is introduced to minimize the operational costs while operating with a large amount of data. The system is demonstrated to be suitable for different embedded applications by attaching several real-time modules through appropriate interfaces. The embedded web server technology is the combination of embedded device and Internet technology, through this embedded web server user can access their equipments remotely. The equipment mentioned here could be home appliances and factory devices. This paper is focused on realization of TCP/IP suite and user development platform for this embedded web server. The embedded web server design includes a complete web server with TCP/IP support and Ethernet interface. Web pages are written by Hyper text markup language (HTML).

Neutron imaging detector based on the [formula omitted] micro-pixel chamber

We have developed a prototype time-resolved neutron imaging detector employing the micro-pixel chamber (μPIC), a micro-pattern gaseous detector, coupled with a field programmable gate array-based data acquisition system for applications in neutron radiography at high-intensity neutron sources. The prototype system, with an active area of 10×10cm2 and operated at a gas pressure of 2atm, measures both the energy deposition (via time-over-threshold) and three-dimensional track of each neutron-induced event, allowing the reconstruction of the neutron interaction point with improved accuracy. Using a simple position reconstruction algorithm, a spatial resolution of 349±36μm was achieved, with further improvement expected. The detailed tracking allows strong rejection of background gamma-rays, resulting in an effective gamma sensitivity of 10−12 or less, coupled with stable, robust neutron identification. The detector also features a time resolution of 0.6μs.

Design of Real Time Data Acquisition with Multi Node Embedded Systems

his paper is about the application of data acquisition systems in industrial requirements for real time execution of events with industrial process control and automation. Multiple embedded nodes are measuring various industrial parameters to monitor and control industrial process. Data acquired from each node is processed, displayed and sent to master processor (CPLD XC9572) that compile data received from different nodes and send this information to remote location using GSM technology and simultaneously display the variations in quantity under measurement to local and remote system configured with LabVIEW platform. In addition, the master processor process this information and generates controls signals based on predefined cases or can receive the controlling action from remote controller to control the industrial application like CNC machines, Electric drives etc. The paper adds the value towards the low cost, less manufacturing time, ease of implementation with reliable measuring, controlling and data logging demands of industry.

Mobile Real-Time Data Acquisition System for Application in Preventive Medicine

In this article, the development of a system for online monitoring of a subject's physiological parameters and subjective workload regardless of location has been presented, which allows for studies on occupational health. In the sector of occupational health, modern acquisition systems are needed. Such systems can be used by the subject during usual daily routines without being influenced by the presence of an examiner. Moreover, the system's influence on the subject should be reduced to a minimum to receive reliable data from the examination. The acquisition system is based on a mobile handheld (or smart phone), which allows both management of the communication process and input of several dialog data (e.g., questionnaires). A sensor electronics module permits the acquisition of different physiological parameters and their online transmission to the handheld via Bluetooth. The mobile handheld and the sensor electronics module constitute a wireless personal area network. The handheld allows the first analysis, the synchronization of the data, and the continuous data transfer to a communication server by the integrated mobile radio standards of the handheld. The communication server stores the incoming data of several subjects in an application-dependent database and allows access from all over the world via a Web-based management system. The developed system permits one examiner to monitor the physiological parameters and the subjective workload of several subjects in different locations at the same time. Thereby the subjects can move almost freely in any area covered by the mobile network. The mobile handheld allows the popping-up of the questionnaires at flexible time intervals. This electronic input of the dialog data, in comparison to the manual documentation on papers, is more comfortable to the subject as well as to the examiner for an analysis. A Web-based management application facilitates a continuous remote monitoring of the physiological and the subjective data of the subject.

Design Considerations for a Multiprocessor Based Data Acquisition System

The rapid advance of digital technology has provided the systems designer with many new design options. Hardware is no longer the controlling expense. Complex operating systems provide the flexibility and development tools needed by software designers, but restrict throughput. Multiprocessor based systems can be used to "front-end" high-throughput applications while maintaining the many advantages offered by multitasking operating systems. The design of a high-throughput data acquisition system for application in low energy nuclear physics is considered.
