A Study of Fang Huawen’s Chinese Version of Rebecca from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

This paper analyzes Fang Huawen’s Chinese version of Rebecca from the perspective of Skopos Theory. By obtaining the different descriptions in the novel, such as linguistic description, mental description, and environmental description, the essay focuses on discovering how the translator uses Skopos Theory during his translation. Through the analysis, the thesis finds out that Fang’s version combines the features of the original texts and the expression habit in Chinese, which fully demonstrates the original texts. The language of Fang’s version is brief and clear, and the content is coherent, meanwhile, this translation showcases the message from the original text to a great extent. Through studying Fang’s version, the thesis analyzes the translation strategies comprehensively by using the principle of fidelity, conference and skopos. Based on the above three principles, translators can adopt a variety of translation strategies, including domestication, foreignization, addition and subtraction, to translate high-quality translations to meet the needs of readers and disseminate the culture of other countries.

An Examination of the Original Knowledge and Inheritance of Putu Xian Opera Among Putian Citizens

The purpose of this study is to investigate how the age and educational level of Putian citizens affect their attitudes towards the original perception and transmission of Putu Xian opera. Putu Xian Opera, with its distinct art form and rich cultural legacy, holds a significant place in the history of Chinese opera as one of the first batch of national intangible cultural heritages in China. The original preservation and transmission of Putu Xian Opera are vital to Putian inhabitants, as Putian is the cradle of this traditional art form. According to the findings of an extensive survey of Putian residents, the age group of 46 55 has the largest proportion of citizens, followed by that of 36 45. Regarding the awareness and transmission of Putu Xian opera, citizens between the ages of 26 and 35 and 18 and 25 have the most positive opinions, whilst those under the age of 18 and those 56 and older have the lowest awareness. The survey population is somewhat more male than female, with a more balanced ratio of male to female. The data does not indicate any discernible variations in opinions regarding the understanding and legacy of Putu Xian Opera. The respondents greatest degree of education was a bachelor s degree (23.2%), which was followed by secondary or high school (23%), specialty or college (22.2%), and high school (22%). The group places greater value on preserving the unique qualities of Putu Xian opera and fostering a positive outlook on its dissemination the more educated they are. Research indicates that individuals with higher levels of education have a stronger feeling of responsibility and initiative towards the preservation of cultural heritage. They are also better able to strike a balance between tradition and modernity, which helps to effectively preserve and advance Putu Xian Opera. In addition, this study highlights the critical role that people educational attainment plays in the preservation of intangible cultural assets and offers insightful experience and theoretical references for the preservation and transmission of traditional culture in other countries.

Comparison of the nature of cultural integration with university curricula / Estudio comparativo de las características de la integración cultural en el currículum

The study’s primary objective is to analyse cultural integration into the professional courses ‘International Business’ and ‘Business English’. A survey was conducted using a specially designed questionnaire, which included two groups of students of 42 people each from the International Business College, Qingdao Huanghai University, and School of Business Administration, Moscow State University named after Lomonosov. For all items of the questionnaire, a higher assessment by Chinese students of various parameters of cultural integration was found. The importance of cultural integration was equally appreciated by the students of both countries, as well as the importance of knowledge and the development of interest in national culture. Chinese students demonstrated a higher assessment of the material support of the cultural integration process and significantly higher assessments of elements of the culture of other countries integrated into the learning environment and the learning process. The present findings can be used for further research and the introduction of the created programme into the educational process to expand intercultural communication between universities in different countries.

Integrasi Literasi Budaya dan Kewargaan Melalui Media Sosial pada Generasi Z di Era Digitalisasi

Changing times are increasingly developing into a decline in cultural and civic literacy in the younger generation. Cultural and civic literacy is the ability to adapt to the culture of other countries who come to Indonesia but still instill a sense of love for the homeland by studying and understanding various Indonesian cultures. The modern generation Z needs to be closer to Indonesian culture which is adapted to the characteristics of generation Z. The aim of this research is to find out how to integrate cultural literacy and citizenship through social media in generation Z in the era of digitalization. This research method uses a literature study or literature review where the researcher uses secondary data obtained from journals, ebooks, and articles with the stages of planning, data collection, analysis, and synthesis. The research results show that the use of technology in the era of digitalization as a media platform for generation Z can increase cultural literacy and citizenship. One of them is a short video broadcast on the TikTok application. The integration of cultural and civic literacy in generation Z in the era of digitalization involves a deep understanding of the digital context.

Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Teaching Strategies for English Cultural Communication in Colleges and Universities

Abstract This paper utilizes artificial intelligence-related technologies, such as intelligent agents and text mining, to form the two basic modules of the English Cultural Communication Platform, which facilitates simple online English cultural communication. This study employs questionnaires and surveys to comprehensively understand and analyze the English cultural communicative competence of international education masters who have used the English cultural communication platform for teaching purposes. Independent sample t-tests and one-way ANOVA were used to look into how it affected different parts of English cultural communication competence. The results showed that most students could learn about the lives and cultures of other countries through the platform. 60.07%, 80%, and 90% of the students believe that they can effectively improve their knowledge, attitude, and skills in English cultural communication, respectively. The length of teaching practice on the English cultural communication platform has a significant effect on English cultural sensitivity and English cultural efficacy (P = 0.002), while English proficiency has little effect on influencing English cultural communication skills (P > 0.05). Through this platform, students can effectively develop multicultural communication skills and awareness.

Implementing the Right to Education in the Integration Legal Systems of the European Union countries: Research Methodology and Areas of Improvement

The purpose of the research:Implementing the right to education in the European Union countries is considered. Main content: It has been established that implementationof the right to education plays an important role in the system of human and citizen rights and freedoms, and has complex connections with many of them. It is noted that in most European countries the right to education is socially oriented. European countries are characterized by the following: continuous education; compulsory primary education; standardized ways of organizing the educational process, regulating participation of students, parents and teachers in it; great attention is paid to financing and protecting the right to education. Methodology: The methodological basis of the research is presented as comparative-legal and systematic analysis, formal-legal method, interpretation method, hermeneutic method as well as methods of analysis and synthesis. Conclusions: Despite the diversity of educational systems in the European region, the member states of the Council of Europe recognize the need to promote the free access of young Europeans to the intellectual resources of the member states of the Council of Europe, as well as to the study of European culture, languages, history and culture of other countries by all citizens.

Analisis Kebutuhan Modul Literasi Budaya: Studi Siswa MI Kelas 4 di Kabupaten Purworejo

Nowadays, there is a phenomenon where children prefer the culture of other countries rather than their own, for example Korean wafe culture. This study aims to determine the level of students' understanding of Purworejo cultural literacy in class IV students at MI Purworejo. This research method uses quantitative research with a survey approach. Data collection techniques by distributing questionnaires to fourth grade students, interviews with teachers at MI Purworejo and observation. Data analysis techniques using descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the results of the research, it shows that teachers really need a module about Purworejo cultural literacy. Several criteria are needed by teachers and students, namely there are pictures that support the material and the language used is simple and easy to understand. Students added that they wanted modules to be printed in full color, module activities were activities that were active and easy for students to carry. The teacher also wants the material to be adapted to the history and culture of Purworejo.

Educational Tourism as a Source of Linguistic and Cultural Competence of Foreign Students on the Example of Azerbaijan

This article is devoted to the problem of the formation of linguistic and cultural competence of foreign students on the example of Azerbaijan with the help of educational tourism. The formation of this competency is one of the main conditions for the quality training of foreign students. Educational tourism is an important educational technology, especially at the present stage of social development due to the fact that it provides opportunities for expanding the horizons of students, familiarizing themselves with the culture of other countries and peoples, forming, understanding the customs, traditions, cultural values of their countries, native land and other countries and people’s skills, develops the abilities of students. This approach is aimed at overcoming stereotypes, the language barrier, thus, learning becomes productive. This leads to increased learning. A Comparative Study of Chinese and Korean Food Culture

China has a history of five thousand years and has gradually formed its own unique traditional food culture in the development and precipitation of history. The spread of ancient Confucian culture in the world has deeply influenced the food culture of other countries, and neighboring Korea is no exception. Therefore, this paper starts with the representative food culture characteristics and dining etiquette of the Han nationality in China and the Korean nationality in South Korea, compares and discusses the similarities and differences of the food culture of China and South Korea, and deepens the understanding of the food culture of each other, so as to help the people of China and South Korea to communicate and cooperate more effectively.

The Value of Chinese Calligraphy Artistic Symbols in the Packaging Design of Creative Products

Cultural and creative products play an important role in promoting social and economic development. China’s traditional art culture is not only indispensable in the development of its own cultural and creative products, but also an important source of inspiration and materials of international cultural and creative industries. Cultural and creative products are not only the exchange and common development of Chinese culture in other countries, but also further promotes the response to the policy of “The Silk Economic Belt and 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road” and “Building a Community with a Future for Humanity.” Chinese calligraphy are a huge part of Chinese art and culture. In this paper, the cultural and artistic value of Chinese characters on packaging design was studied through case study and visual analysis. The analysis is mainly based on the current situation, problems, and innovative exploration of various elements of Chinese calligraphy and artistic symbols in the packaging of creative products. Because of the design and development of the artistic symbols of Chinese characters, the significance of the research results not only display the unique cultural heritage of China, but also provide reference for cultural and artistic exchanges, innovative development, and integrated development of other countries.

Analisis Pengelolaan Wisata Sawah Halal Dalam Meningkatkan Kesejahteraan Masyarakat di Desa Sidua-Dua Kabupaten Labuhanbatu Utara

Increasingly high needs make tourism a basic part of human lifestyle, and move people to get to know nature and culture in other countries. So indirectly the movement of people will affect the mutually sustainable economic chain. In this paper regarding the management of halal rice field tourism in improving the welfare of the community in Sidua-dua Village, North Labuhanbatu Regency. Therefore the aim of this study is to identify and determine the physical carrying capacity of the potential of rice fields in supporting tourism activities and find out whether rice fields have been managed optimally so that the potential of the rice fields is able to prosper the surrounding community. This research uses a type of field research (Field Research). With the nature of this research it is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study show that the Halal Labura Rice Field Tourism has very good economic potential where economically the Labura Halal Rice Field Tourism increases value from agriculture to the economic sector. This is supported by a strategic location, affordable travel tickets and attractive tourist facilities. However, Sawah Labura Halal Tourism has weaknesses, namely during the harvest season and weather changes even though it has been tricked by changing photo spots every time every three months.

Marginal Analysis for a Win-win Case in Cross-cultural Acquisition: Wanda and AMC

In the context of economic globalization, countries are both partners and competitors. In the early twenty-first century, China began to look at the influence of Chinese culture in other countries and issued policies to support the purchase of overseas assets by Chinese companies. Wanda Group seized the opportunity and made a fortune by acquiring AMC and selling it at a high price. The study found that this was a successful cross-border M&A case, however, a systematic analysis still exists on the explanation of why Wang did a specific thing at a specific time. Therefore, the topic of this paper is to use marginal analysis to explain Wanda's behavior in entering and exiting AMC. Ultimately, this paper concludes that marginal analysis can help firms make decisions about whether and when to do something, and the resulting marginal costs can be useful for subsequent negotiations.

Identification of Local Wisdom of The Sasak Tribe In Chemistry Learning as an Effort to Strengthen Student Character

Globalization has a negative impact on local wisdom and the character of the successor of the Indonesian nation. It causes the culture of other countries to influence local wisdom so that it experiences a shift and slowly disappears. It triggers youth violence and erodes morals, character, sense of humanity, and nationalism. Students who are dominated by the Sasak tribe are currently less familiar with their traditions and culture. The solution to this problem is to integrate local wisdom into formal chemistry learning. This study aims to identify local wisdom of the Sasak tribe that can be integrated in chemistry learning. The approach used in this research is qualitative. The research sample is cultural practitioners and the Sasak people. Sampling using purposive technique. The implementation of this research consists of four stages based on data analysis of the Miles and Huberman Model, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data collection technique is triangulation, which combines interviews, observations, and documents. The results of this study are local wisdom of the Sasak tribe that can be integrated in chemistry learning. The local wisdom includes mopping with cow dung, dilah jojor, nyesek, and gendang beleq. The results of the analysis of local wisdom show that there is relevance to chemistry, namely the concepts of organic compounds, inorganic compounds, chemical bonds, elemental chemistry, instrument analysis, chemical separation, and chemistry of natural materials. The integration of local wisdom into chemistry learning has an impact on maintaining the existence of local wisdom of the Sasak tribe as well as strengthening the character of students

REFLECTION OF THE HALLYU EFFECT ON TURKISH CONSUMERS' INTENTION TO PURCHASE KOREAN PRODUCTS

Popular culture has become the soft power policy of countries and has been used as an important tool for promoting their own culture in other countries. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the effect of the Korean effect (Hallyu/Korean wave) which is an element of popular culture, which is increasing in Turkey, especially on social media, in parallel with the world, on the purchasing behavior of Korean products along with the country image and cultural proximity. For this purpose, data were collected from 280 people in groups consisting of k-pop and k-drama fans on social media. All three hypotheses formed as a result of the analyzes were accepted as similar to the studies in the literature. As a result of the study, it was revealed that k-pop and k-drama elements and Hallyu effect, country image and cultural proximity significantly affect the intention to purchase Korean products.

Perceptions of In-service English Language Teachers Involved in Erasmus Exchange Programs on Culture and Teacher Identity

This study was conducted with the participation of five in-service English language teachers and aimed to find out how in-service English language teachers with overseas intercultural experience evaluate the effects of this experience on their language teacher identity. The data of the study were collected through semi-structured interviews and metaphor elicitation. Content analysis procedure was employed to explore the obtained qualitative data. The results of the study showed that the participants all regarded Erasmus Exchange Program as an opportunity in their personal and academic life. They all mentioned that interacting and negotiating with people from different cultures changed their “opinions and attitudes” about the people and culture of other countries. Also, they all stated that this experience raised some “cultural awareness” about their own culture and the culture of other countries. Also, they said that this experience improved their “language skills” specially speaking and listening. They also said that Erasmus experience also affected their “intercultural identity”. They all confirmed that their teacher identity has influenced after their experience as an Erasmus student.

The Dynamic Typology in the Development Process of Credit Union Movements

The aim of this paper is to find a dynamic framework of analysis of credit union movements by grouping credit unions into different category types. Within the heterogeneous reality of the worldwide credit union movement, the typology provides a clearer understanding of the dynamics of change and development. We use panel-ordered logistic regression to find the key covariates of influence when analyzing the original typology to add further explanation of the development of credit union movements. By using transnational research, we revisit each of the three categories of the original typology to re-evaluate and expand upon the relevance of this particular model. We also include the elements of economy, society, education, and culture in other countries in this research. Our findings suggest that the stage of development of the credit union movement depends on the variables of asset scale, financial crisis, legislative framework, economy, society, and culture of the country. In addition, they indicate that the penetration rate of the credit union movement depends on the asset scale, loan ratio, credit union growth, financial crisis, economy, society, education, and culture of the country. This lends support to the recognition of the diversity of the credit unions’ development.

Methodological Discourse of Polycultural Education as a Conceptual Pedagogical Idea

The article presents the methodological substantiation of the idea of polyculture education. Polyculture education is considered as a kind of purposeful socialization of students, which provides: at the cognitive level – the development of patterns and values of world culture, cultural, historical and social experience of different countries and peoples; on the value-motivational – the formation of socially significant and value-oriented tendencies of students to intercultural communication and exchange, as well as the development of tolerance in relation to the culture of other countries, peoples, social groups; at the activity-behavioral level – an active social interaction with representatives of different cultures while preserving their own cultural identity. It is proved that polyculture education provides the socio-cultural identification of the individual; mastering the system of concepts and ideas about the multicultural environment; fostering a positive attitude towards a diversified cultural environment; development of social communication skills. It is substantiated that the modernization of Ukrainian education, taking into account the general trends of world development, should reflect the interests of Ukrainian society and the state related to the formation of Ukrainian civic identity. An integrated innovation system of multicultural education that takes into account state interests, national and ethnocultural peculiarities of the population, conditions of intercultural dialogue and tasks of designing intrastate and interstate harmony can satisfy such a request.

Criminal Law Protection of Personal Information in China in the context of Social Credit System Formation

The paper analyzes the norms of criminal law, which enshrined the protection of personal information in the PRC. The tendencies of law enforcement practice in criminal cases, the subject of which are personal data, are being studied. Increased criminal law protection of personal information of Chinese citizens is due to the emergence of a social credit system. The paper discusses the features of the functioning of the social credit system, as well as the impact of this system on the rights and freedoms of the individual in the context of digitalization. Interest in the system under consideration is due to the significant influence exerted by the PRC on the formation of the legal culture of other countries. The author concludes that a significant degree of state intrusion into the private space of citizens correlates with effective measures to protect personal information. The Chinese case shows the desire of the state to protect the personal data of citizens, including through criminal law means. At the same time, cases of law enforcement are becoming more common, especially in criminal law.

A STUDY ON CROSS-CULTURAL SHOCKS EXPERIENCED BY BILLY WANG BETWEEN AMERICAN CULTURE AND CHINESE CULTURE IN THE FAREWELL 2019 MOVIE

In this study, the writer uses a material object namely The Farewell 2019 movie to find out what kind of culture shock was found and its implications. Have an authentic and informative story. For us viewers who are not ethnic Chinese, we get new knowledge about Chinese family traditions which are actually 'saklek' and have important meaning for them. In this study used the descriptive qualitative method. Descriptive studies is a form of studies that indicated to describe phenomena that exist, both natural phenomena and artificial phenomena. The main data of this study was taken from the movie entitled The Farewell 2019. The writer takes the data source by observing each film scene and will capture each scene. The method used in collecting data was the documentation method. In this study, descriptive qualitative approach analysis was used to analyze culture shock in The Farewell 2019 movie. The movie reflects the culture shock of the main character. The writer also found the stages of a person's phase when experiencing culture shock which is divided into four stages; the honeymoon, the hostility, the recovery, and the adjustment. All of them is reflected in the main character, Billy Wang who gets a culture shock in his native China. In cultural implications, The Farewell 2019 movie is reflected in the acceptance that after a person goes through several phases of culture shock and the imply in the movie is starting to accept and learn the culture of other countries, including a form of positive attitude in understanding different cultures, not closing oneself and always open to changes and differences in the surrounding environment.

Korean Wave in Poland: Success and Challenge

한국 문화의 인기와 매력의 증가는 전세계적으로 한류 현상을 일으켰다. 한류는 한국 정부의 적극적인 문화정책의 결과로도 볼 수 있는데, 세계화 덕분에 한국을 비롯한 많은 국가에서 대중 문화는 강력한 커뮤니케이션의 수단으로서 경제 발전의 중요한 동력이 될 수 있었다. 또한 한류는 한국의 소프트파워를 전세계에 보여줌으로써 전세계인들에게 한국에 대한 긍정적인 이미지를 강력하게 구축했다. 앞으로 세계적으로 한류의 인기는 더욱 커질 것으로 예상되며, 한류의 다양한 요소들이 다른 나라의 대중문화에도 강력한 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상된다. 과거에는 한류가 주로 아시아 일부 지역에서 목격되는 현상이었다면, 최근의 한류는 유럽을 비롯한 전 세계로 확산되고 있다. 본 논문은 중부 유럽에 위치한 폴란드에서 한류의 성공과 도전이라는 한류의 성장스토리에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 본 논문이 폴란드인들의 성격적 특성과 함께 폴란드에서 가장 인기 있는 한류의 영역들을 세밀하게 분석해본 결과, 폴란드에서의 한류는 다양한 방면에서 지금까지 매우 성공적으로 자리매김하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 한국과 폴란드 양국의 문화적 차이로 인해 폴란드에서 성공하지 못한 한류의 분야도 분명히 존재함을 확인할 수 있었고, 이것에 대한 향후의 개선방향에 대해 고민해볼 수 있는 기회를 제공하였다.The increase in popularity and attractiveness of Korean culture has caused the Hallyu phenomenon around the world. The Korean Wave can also be seen as a result of the active cultural policy of the Korean government. Thanks to globalization, popular culture has been able to become an important driving force for economic development in many countries, including Korea, as a powerful means of communication. In addition, the Korean Wave strongly builds a positive image of Korea to people around the world by showing the soft power of Korea. In the future, the popularity of Hallyu is expected to grow further worldwide, and various elements of Hallyu are expected to have a strong influence on the popular cultures of other countries. In the past, the Korean Wave was mainly observed in some parts of Asia, but the recent Korean Wave is spreading around the world including Europe. This paper focuses on the growth story of the Korean Wave, the success and challenge of the Korean Wave in Poland, which is located in Central Europe. As a result of this paper analyzing in detail the areas of the most popular Korean Wave in Poland along with the characteristics of Polish people, it was found that the Korean Wave in Poland has been very successful in various fields so far. However, due to the cultural differences between Korea and Poland, it was confirmed that there were also areas of the Korean Wave that were not successful in Poland. This paper provides an opportunity to think about future directions for improvement.
