Construction of New Female Image in Early Modern China - Review of <i>Performing China: Female Stars, Performance Culture, Visual Politics, 1910-1945 </i>by Huiling Zhou

The author of the book <i>Performing China: Female Stars, Performance Culture, Visual Politics, 1910-1945</i>, Huiling Zhou, through the method of careful cross-text reading of cultural and video data and the theory of performance cultural studies, studies the tortuous course of constructing new female images of Chinses women represented by female film stars in the early 1920s and 1930s. They are not only “theater actresses” on the screen, but also “social actresses” in social practice. In face of various social opinions, gossip and party comments at that time, early Chinese female stars found ways to release themselves in their screen roles and real lives in the real society. Their performances in the process of China’s modernization revealed the society’s conception of the country, urban scene and female image at that time. Hollywood’s influence on Chinese films in the 1930s was profound and extensive, from the portrayal of urban women in China to the demonstration of film marketing strategies. From the perspective of film performance, the author analyzes the process of cross-cultural communication and interaction between China and the United States in the 1930s, involving various aspects of film, literature, politics, painting and industry. The difficulty of reading this book lies in its strong theoretical nature. Then, the film documents and image data selected by the author in the early 1920s and 1930s are relatively unknown to many people today. The author’s cultural research method with visual as core of cross-cultural interaction research can make us have some new thinking about many popular cultural forms at present, and broaden our vision and thinking.

The Intersection of Cross-Cultural Adaptation of Balinese and Digital Nomads

The adaptation of Balinese society to the presence of digital nomads involves a complex process of cross-cultural communication that extends beyond cultural aspects alone. The ways in which digital nomads and local residents interact and understand each other are influenced by various communication patterns they employ. Cultural differences, social norms, and language barriers impact how these two groups communicate. This research aims to provide a deeper understanding of how the Balinese society adapts to the presence of digital nomads, viewed through the lens of Young Yun Kim's cross-cultural adaptation theory. The research method used in this study is qualitative research. In conclusion, the cross-cultural adaptation between the Balinese society and digital nomads demonstrates that both groups can create a harmonious and mutually beneficial environment through open communication, mutual understanding, and a willingness to adapt

Komunikasi Lintas Budaya antara Etnik Samawa dan Sasak dalam Kehidupan Sehari-hari di Dusun Sampar Gilar

Cross-cultural communication is communication carried out as a result of the communication process between various cultural elements. The communication process carried out by two or more cultures. Aims to reduce the level of misunderstanding and minimize the occurrence of conflict. This research aims to find out how communication is between indigenous people and migrant communities in Sampar Gilar Hamlet, Sepakat Village and to find out what are the barriers to cross-cultural communication between the Samawa Ethnic and Sasak Ethnic groups in Sampar Gilar Hamlet. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method based on data perspective as well as observation, interview and documentation collection techniques. Analyzed data interactively using data reduction steps, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of cross-cultural research on Samawa and Sasak ethnic groups in Sampar Gilar hamlet using 1) Communication through events (Tradition) 2) Communication through events (Gotong Royong) 3) Communication through (daily activities) and barriers to the cross-cultural communication process of the Sumbawa ethnic group And the Sasak ethnicity in Sampar Gilar hamlet is the difference in language and the meaning of their respective languages, both the Sasak tribe and each Sumbawa tribe.

GLOBALISASI BUDAYA MUSIK DANGDUT KOPLO MELALUI MEDIA TIKTOK (PENDEKATAN KOMUNIKASI LINTAS BUDAYA)

Dangdut music is no longer a local and ancient culture but has become a global or international culture. This is because dangdut music has now become one of the popular cultures in the current millennial era and has been introduced to foreign countries by Indonesian youths. Music sociologist Prof. Andrew N. Weintarub also added that dangdut music is an original culture from Indonesia, not from other countries and has been found in various regions and has been well received by all groups as well as being a unifier. This study aims to describe and analyze the phenomenon of Dangdut Koplo Music Culture on Tiktok Media, especially in the account posts belonging to the boyband "NCT Dream" which contain Mendungdut Tanpo Udan dancing and accompanied by background music from the band "Ndarboy Genk" in the view of cross-cultural communication. The results of this study are that in this phenomenon there has been a process of cross-cultural communication, there are also characteristics of cultural globalization from David Held's theory, namely the expansion of social relations (Stretched Social Relations) and increased intensity of communication (Intensification of Flows), and there is a theory Culture from EB Taylor where "NCT Dream" has gained knowledge, artistry, and skills in dangdut koplo music culture, especially dancing and the song "Mendung Tanpo Udan" from various media, especially from the TikTok account "Ndarboy Genk" so that they become part of Indonesian society.

ACCOMMODATION OF SUNDANESE AND JAVANESE ETHNIC COMMUNICATION IN BANJAR CITY IN CREATING MULTICULTURAL INTEGRATION: A STUDY OF CROSSCULTURAL COMMUNICATION

This study aims to examine the communication process that occurs in the adaptation process of the Javanese ethnic community in Banjar City, West Java Province which in turn accommodation occurs in cross-cultural communication between the Sundanese ethnic community and the Javanese ethnic community in Banjar City which incidentally is one of the areas that has multicultural characteristics. In a multicultural society, the potential for conflict is very possible. A wise interethnic perception will minimize the occurrence of conflict. This research is designed with an interpretive paradigm using a qualitative-descriptive approach. The method used in this research is ethnographic method. The data was collected using introspective techniques, in-depth interviews, and document review using participant tracking techniques. The results of this study indicate that (1) perceptions and stereotypes between Sundanese and Javanese ethnic groups in Banjar City affected the process of cross-cultural communication; (2) the communication process that takes place in multiethnic society in Banjar City is divided into two characteristics, namely interactive communication and transactional communication.

Cross-Cultural Communication Practices for Chinese Films From Speaking Into the Air

By using the theory of communication philosophy, our paper excavates the “symbol-spread-dialogue” communication theory proposed by Peters in Speaking into the Air: A History of the Idea of Communication as the discursive logic, and through its research on the diachronic process of cross-cultural communication of contemporary Chinese films, in-depth content expression, communication paradigm and effect feedback, and explores the differences between communication theory and film cross-cultural practice. The peculiarities of translating English and Chinese children's fairy tales into the Russian language

This article is dedicated to the peculiarities of translating English and Chinese children's fairy-tales into the Russian language. Analysis is conducted on such key concepts as “children's fairy-tale”, “literary tale”, and “folklore tale”. The author examines the development stages of English literary tale and Chinese folk tale as independent genres. The main translation transformations used in translating English literary tales and Chinese folk tales into the Russian are explored. Special attention is given to the translation of fairy tales as a form of cross-cultural dialogue due to the fact that such works are loaded with the ethnic-cultural components. The conducted analysis reveals the major challenges face by the translators in dealing with fairy-tale literature. The conclusion is made that the translation of fairy-tale requires taking into account not only the unique genre as such, but also the ethnic-cultural distinctness of different linguistic cultures, foreign mentality, and cultural identity. The scientific novelty consists in the attempt to establish whether it is possible to achieve success in cultural adaptation of English literary tales and Chinese folk tales into the Russian language. The acquired results indicate that the major challenge in translation and cultural adaptation lies in conveyance of cultural uniqueness, as well as ethnic, historical and national flavor of the original texts; it is essential to remember that translation of children’s fairy tale is part of the process of cross-cultural communication, and the translator must become an intermediary of the dialogue of cultures. Fairy tales bear the cultural code of a particular ethnos, being the key to comprehension of the worldview of its representatives. It conveys the socially significant information, embeds moral values, illustrates ethnic-cultural peculiarities, and preserves cultural heritage.

Phraseological units with names of clothes in english, german and russian

The article deals with the comparative analysis of the English, German and Russian phraseological units with the component “clothes”, namely the names of accessories, garments, items of clothing and shoes. The relevance of research is defined by the interest to interaction between different languages and the process of cross-cultural communication in the modern world. A deep study of set expressions helps to learn the unique system of language that is characteristic of its native speakers. The study of phraseological units with the names of clothing opens opportunities for understanding the traditional, material and spiritual culture of a nation. The aim of the study was to compare phraseological units with the component “clothes” of three languages: English, German and Russian and carry out the quantitative analysis of these units. The authors used such methods as descriptive, comparative, interpretative, continuous sampling method and statistical method. The object of the study is different types of phraseological units, including proverbs and sayings, with the names of clothes belonging to five thematic groups: “garments”, “clothing items”, “clothing materials”, “accessories” and “shoes”. The study revealed that the biggest thematic groups of phraseological units are those with the names of pieces of clothing and accessories.

ІСПАНСЬКИЙ МЕДІЙНИЙ ДИСКУРС В КОНТЕКСТІ МІЖКУЛЬТУРНОЇ КОМУНІКАЦІЇ

The article is in essence the research of the Spanish media discourse in view of the modern information space globalization. Various papers related to the language functioning in mass communication that were published on a regular basis in the second half of the XX century created adequate prerequisites for study of the media discourse. As of today information is considered to be a consumer good that retains popularity. New mass communication media emerge to satisfy the interests of the target audience of various ages, professions and personal preferences. The infrastructure of the transnational satellite television resulted in a sustainable cultural consolidation accompanying the globalization process that also involves other mass media. Mass communication includes not only dissemination of information but also organization and aggregate of processes & products of speech production in its richness and complexity of their interaction that can affect the society in any way. Internationalization of any events, news, messages is a complex process of cross-cultural communication in the modern times of globalization. Constant development of information and communication technologies results in rapid increase of the text volumes that are broadcasted via mass media using multiple national languages in the world information space and thus the modern media discourse requires constant participation of translators in the process of producing media products.

Cross-cultural communication of the Indonesian students in China

This paper aims to find out how the process and the steps taken by Indonesian students studying in China to overcome culture shock during their study in China. This research seeks to provide answers to cultural shock events that arise from a process of cross-cultural communication. The data were obtained by conducting an in-depth interview process and then processed optimally using the Speech Codes Theory (SCT) initiated by Gerry Philipsen. This study shows that Indonesian students tend to cope with cultural shock events from cross-cultural communication processes when mingling with other community members.

Komunikasi Silang Budaya Sebagai Titik Temu antar Pusat dalam Pusaran Budaya

The purpose of this study was to determine the cross culture as a meeting point between centers in the cultural vortex. The research method in this study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Culture is an entity that has never been timeless, how could it not even without the culture of the world not materialize. Talking about culture, of course we cannot escape the discussion about friction between cultures. The results of this research, this friction event that makes the emergence of potential conflicts if culture is only understood with tribal and rigid spirit. A process of cross cultural communication is needed to present a dialogue space for each cultural agent. Certainly to produce successful cross-cultural communication requires an awareness of culture in terms of verbs or cultural understanding as a process. It is through this step that cross cultural communication will reach its maximum impact.

STUDENTS’ CROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION AS A KEY COMPONENT IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE BLENDED LEARNING WITHING EUROPE

Students’ cross-cultural communication is considered in the article as the defining feature of modern civilization and intercultural understanding is considered to be one of the most important and complex challenges of nowadays. Cross-cultural communication of students in Europe has social, cultural, cognitive and linguistic aspects. The author pays special attention to blended foreign language teaching as a manifestation of the internationalization of Ukrainian universities. The correlation of blended foreign language learning with the global cultural context defines the students’ cross-cultural communication process as a key component of the communication act whereby students acquire specific intercultural competences and improve their professional and linguistic abilities.The article focuses on the opportunity that students’ cross-cultural communication provides through the use of foreign language blended learning which is able to commit students to professional cross-cultural networking and global education target within Europe. The challenge consists in the active involvement of the students in engaging foreign language blended learning experiences in order to rise their sense of ownership and responsibility of their language learning experience and to develop the students’ commitment to build professional culture experience. It stresses that the content of cross-cultural communication is based on the integration of the most important components: a language that reflects the culture of the folk; a culture that conveys the features of socio-historical conditions and a personality, which is formed during the educational and social activity. In our case we mean students.The author highlights the promising ideas of students’ cross-cultural communication in foreign language blended learning and analyzes the benefits of foreign language blended learning within Europe.The need to relate foreign language blended learning interaction to the global cultural context redefines the process of students’ cross- cultural communication as a key component of the communicative act that make students acquire the specific cross- cultural competence and improve their professional abilities. The great necessity for distance education or blended learning in Eastern Ukraine, for instance, emerged in 2014. After the evacuation of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University in 2014 from Luhansk to Starobilsk (the Faculty of Foreign Languages was displaced to Poltava) was organized blended learning or distance education and LMS Moodle Platform was chosen in such conditions. A feature of the implementation of such a system was the large number of courses with very limited technical resources. More than that, the international service provided by the Center for International and Educative Work operates at the university to promote international cooperation and students’ cross-cultural communication. The Center helps the research and teaching staff and the university administration to improve skills by coordinating international educational contacts with relevant institutions abroad. In addition, the Center provides the implementation of scientific and methodological support and execution of appropriate documentation, as well as working with foreign citizens – students of LNU in accordance with normative legal acts of Ukraine governing the provision of educational services to foreigners and providing the conditions for their stay in Ukraine.In conclusion, foreign language blended learning is proposed to emphasize the cultural dimension of foreign language teaching and to train foreign language students to be equipped with e-tools to mediate between cultures. The virtual platform, as well as the in class meetings, address the affective dimension through various simulations of different cultural spaces.

ВПЛИВ ІНФОРМАЦІЙНИХ ТЕХНОЛОГІЙ НА ПРОЦЕС МІЖКУЛЬТУРНОЇ КОМУНІКАЦІЇ В АСПЕКТІ РОЗВИТКУ МІЖНАРОДНОГО МАРКЕТИНГУ ТА ГЛОБАЛІЗАЦІЙНИХ ПРОЦЕСІВ

Mass media globalization as part of the global informatization process encourage separate research endeavors, further explanation and analysis for a number of reasons, in particular, due to its scale, consequences and perspectives of the complex and dominant economic impact on all aspects of the economy as well as on humanitarian domain of social life. In modern realia, a generally accepted understanding of information technology has emerged, i. e. being a set of methods and software tools that are integrated into a technological chain to ensure the information accumulation, processing, storage, distribution and display. Apparently, global cultural affinity is gained through mass media to a much greater extent than by technological aspects of globalization – it is simply wider than the scope of such technology components as networks, mobile communications, television, etc. however, despite the above mentioned, the mass media development pace as a global tool is significantly more slowly than particular technological solutions and instruments of globalization. When considering globalization through the prism of mass media as a driver of international marketing development, it becomes clear that it is a powerful but yet, most frequently, a destructive instrument that has the capacity and the ability to bypass various formal barriers, such as sovereignty, independence, national specifics, etc. Moreover, we should not ignore the possibility of avoiding an “information war” phenomenon, either. The paper provides insights into the role of information technologies in establishing a dialogue and consent in modern society, it also seeks to evaluate their manifestation and effects on the process of cross-cultural communication in the context of international marketing development and globalization.

Development of Social Capital in the Situation of Migration Intensification

An intensification of migration is currently being observed in Poland, which is posing a challenge for the society. This situation creates diverse dilemmas, including the crucial problem of the state of the social capital and public trust. The society is seeking ways to overcome the economic, political, psychological barriers to the development of social capital in the presence of immigrants. These searches are leading to a deeper analysis of national identity, the foundations of creating and reviving the sense of “we-community”. The development of the cross-cultural communication process, communication between representatives of different cultures and carriers of different national identities is objectively complex. Therefore, it needs a transition from considering problems at the level of everyday practices to communing at the level of basic humanistic values, to explain that they are common and to create on this basis a basic community of everyday practices organized on the principles of partnership. Describing the statistical image of immigration of Ukrainians to Poland, we also demonstrate the features of this process which are not fully reflected in public statistics. For we analyse the process of development of governing practices that regulate migration from above, as well as bottom-up processes. There are several factors emphasized, namely the development of social initiatives, civic activities for optimizing the functioning of cultural diversity within the society, organizing the system of cooperation practices of its “new” and “old” members for the development of society as a whole, and the social capital growth - at the level of the country, region, and an organization.

Formation of the Conceptual Foundations of Cross-cultural Relations Recovery Process on the Basis of Tourism Activity

The article analyzes the influence of the tourism industry on the development of cross-cultural communications in a globalized world. The main levers of influence on cross-cultural activity are determined. The conceptual principles of revitalization of the processes of cross-cultural relations on the bases of tourist activity are formed. The purpose of the article is to develop practical recommendations for improving the mechanism of formation of cross-cultural communications in tourism and positioning of Ukraine in the world’s cross-cultural space in the conditions of globalization. The significance of the cross-cultural communication process in the life of society can not be overemphasized, it is more important to create all the conditions for maximizing the harmonization and creation of this process, thereby contributing to the cultural diversity preserving and mutual enrichment in a dynamically developing world.

СОПОСТАВИТЕЛЬНЫЙ АНАЛИЗ СТРУКТУРНО-СЕМАНТИЧЕСКИХ ОСОБЕННОСТЕЙ АДЪЕКТИВНЫХ ФРАЗЕОЛОГИЧЕСКИХ ЕДИНИЦ АНГЛИЙСКОГО И ТАТАРСКОГО ЯЗЫКОВ

The article is devoted to the comparative study of the adjectival phraseological units of the English and Tatar languages. The topicality of the research is conditioned by the significance of adjectival phraseological units for understanding the mentality peculiarities of the representatives of different linguocultures and improving the process of crosscultural communication, as the analyzed phraseological units demonstrate both the common and the different in relation to this or that phenomenon of reality. The authors review the scientific literature devoted to the study of adjectival phraseological units, and they present the results of their own research. The novelty of the study is that the classification of adjectival phraseological units based on the conducted analysis of their structural-semantic peculiarities is suggested. Within structural groups, the subgroups are singled out on the semantic basis, which denote a person’s characteristics related to the phenomena of reality and reflecting relationships in the society.

On Overseas Chinese Teaching from the Perspective of Intercultural Communication

With the continuous and rapid development of China's economy, Chinese has become one of the most important languages in the world, and more and more foreigners begin to learn Chinese. For Chinese teachers who teach Chinese as a foreign language, the teaching process is also a cross-cultural communication process. The Cultivation of Intercultural Communicative Competence of teachers of Chinese as a foreign Language is very important. In this process, Chinese teachers should not only have good knowledge of the language and respect the cultural awareness of both sides, but also pay attention to certain communication strategies. Only in this way can the cross-cultural teaching be carried out smoothly and a good teaching effect can be achieved.

БЕАР – международное сотрудничество в области образования в условиях процесса глобализации

The article considers education as a soft power tool to promote national interests. As an area of permanent cultural cooperation, education being a factor of socio-cultural integration, enhances socio-economic mobility. Both national higher education integration in the European educational space and globalization cause national identity crisis. The author reviews international cooperation in education as well as intensive process of cross-cultural communication aimed at creating and implementing principles conducive to sustainable development of the Barents region. The article emphasizes the benefit of the geographical location of BEAR for creating a “mixed” model of higher education, which will contribute to further integration of Russian education system in the European educational space.
