Digital Storytelling as Multimodal Response to Young Adult Literature Promoting EFL Students’ Multiliteracies, Global Citizenship, and Mediation Skills

This study examines how Digital Storytelling enhanced upper secondary students’ multiliteracy and mediation skills in EFL and their reflections on global issues. Thirteen digital stories, created in response to Young Adult Literature, were analysed using Visual Communication Grammar and Soundscape. This analysis was complemented by students’ diaries and classroom field notes. Results show that students used different remix strategies to reinterpret novel themes, enjoying collaboration and fostering critical and creative skills but struggling with brainstorming, research, and editing.

Smart Tree Media: Solusi Kreatif dalam Menguatkan Akhlak Terpuji Siswa

This research aims to explore the effectiveness of Smart Tree Media in increasing the understanding and practice of commendable morals in class V students at SD Al-Hidayah Ciumbuleuit. Using qualitative methods, through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with 10 students, it was found that the use of Smart Tree Media was successful in increasing learning motivation and helping students understand and apply commendable moral values ​​in everyday life. Smart Tree Media is in line with the principles of constructivism, Kohlberg's theory, and social constructivism, which involves students actively in learning. Students become more enthusiastic in discussing, sharing opinions, and relating theory to real experience, increasing their understanding. In addition, this method motivates students to express creativity and personal experiences in visual form, deepening their understanding of good morals. Smart Tree Media also helps develop critical, reflective and creative thinking skills. In conclusion, Smart Tree Media has great potential to increase students' understanding of good morals, although further research is needed to determine its long-term impact on students' character.

Social Skills and Creativity as Elements That Enhance Resilience in Adolescence

Resilience plays a crucial role in overcoming the adversities and challenges faced by young people during adolescence. Current research focuses on understanding the factors that contribute to the development of resilience at this stage, with the goal of promoting the well-being and mental health of young people. In this descriptive cross-sectional study, we examined the relationship between social skills, creativity and resilience in a sample of 743 students aged 14 to 19 years from different educational centers in the province of Almería (Spain). We used the Social Skills Questionnaire (CHASO), the Turtle Creativity Questionnaire and the reduced resilience scale CDRISC-10 to collect data. Data analysis was performed using correlation analysis, Student’s t-test for differences according to sex, analysis of variance to test for differences according to resilience groups, multiple regression analysis for predictors of resilience and simple mediation analysis. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between social skills, creativity, and resilience. The differences found suggest that being male and having a higher level of resilience increases the likelihood of having higher social skills and resilience. Social skills and creativity predicted resilience and social skills mediated the relationship between creativity and social skills. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening social skills and promoting creativity to enhance resilience in adolescents, which may have practical implications for the design of intervention and support programs.

ICT skills, entrepreneurial self-perceived creativity, and digital entrepreneurship: Insights from the stimulus-organism-response model

This study, anchored in the Stimulus-Organism-Response theory, aims to explore how ICT skills-related stimuli (information skills, operational skills, and creative skills) stimulate cognitive organisms (entrepreneurial self-perceived creativity), which, in turn, increases behavioral responses (attitude towards digital entrepreneurship and digital entrepreneurial intention) as well as investigate the detrimental effects of technology anxiety. Employing a cross-sectional design, the study leverages data from a sample of 604 higher education students across six universities in Vietnam. Hypotheses are assessed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results reveal positive influences of operational, informational, and creative skills on entrepreneurial self-perceived creativity, which significantly affected attitudes toward digital entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention. While technology anxiety negatively impacts entrepreneurial self-perceived creativity and attitudes toward digital entrepreneurship, its significant influence on digital entrepreneurial intention is not observed. The study also unveils the mediating role of entrepreneurial self-perceived creativity in the relationship between ICT skills, technology anxiety, and attitudes toward digital entrepreneurship and digital entrepreneurial intention. The research contributes to the theoretical understanding of digital entrepreneurial ventures, shedding light on the intricate dynamics among ICT skills, entrepreneurial self-perceived creativity, technology anxiety, and entrepreneurial responses. It also explores the applicability of the SOR model in emerging economies, providing valuable insights into the digital entrepreneurial landscape.

Talent Development in Inclusive Classrooms: An Analysis of Student Growth

In this 21st century context, communities and nations cannot afford to lose the talents of any young people. Shifts in thinking and practices are needed: from one-dimensional definitions to varied talents and 21st century skills of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication; from identification to assessment; from the goal of eminence to wisdom; from special programs to services in inclusive settings. To substantiate these changes, we analyzed student growth in creative problem solving in mathematics and science, and knowledge structure in an Australian school. Significant gains were made by all students at all levels of performance on three assessments, showing that all students in inclusive classrooms benefitted from the implementation of Maker's (1982) talent development principles. Implementing a teaching model such as Real Engagement in Active Problem Solving (REAPS) and assessment of creative problem solving are recommended. Instruments with no ceilings are needed, especially for assessing growth of high ability learners.

The effectiveness of the teaching program “scientific creativity in practice”

This study examines the impact of the Scientific Creativity in Practice program on students’ scientific creativity. This comprehensive teaching program aims to foster general creative skills, domain-specific competencies, and certain personality traits in science education. The program includes a variety of interventions and reflection tools that focus on divergent thinking, problem-solving, bisociation, imagination, and metacognition, which promotes strategies for developing, selecting, and evaluating creative solutions to scientific problems. The study used a two-group, repeated-measures design in Austrian secondary schools, with 26 classes taught using teaching techniques from the program and 12 control classes using traditional teaching methods. The effectiveness of the teaching program was assessed using the Divergent Problem-Solving Ability test, which was administered at the beginning and end of the school year. The results showed that the intervention classes achieved significantly higher scores, indicating improved divergent problem-solving ability.The study also emphasized the importance of intervention fidelity, with the quality of implementation (adherence) having a significantly higher impact on outcomes than the quantity (number of interventions). The results confirm the effectiveness of the Scientific Creativity in Practice program in fostering academic creativity and emphasize the importance of a well-structured teaching program. Future research will focus on measuring the impact of individual techniques of the program on different aspects of scientific creativity.

Musical improvisation for college students: personal creativity and thinking skills

ABSTRACT This study aims to assess personal creativity and the development of higher-order thinking skills in improvisation. The authors evaluated higher-order thinking skills in music improvisation and creativity of improvised musical compositions. The results of the t-test showed significant progress in both creativity and thinking skills among students after the intervention. In general, the indicators of creativity, higher-order thinking skills, motivation and self-efficacy of students correlate well with each other. The strongest correlation was between creativity and general musical creative self-efficacy. There was a negative correlation between amotivation and these two traits: creativity and higher-order thinking. In general, the results of the study suggest that students acquired the skills of comparing, judging, planning, generalising and using previous knowledge to create a new product. The researchers noted the development of musical style, correspondence between melody and rhythm, and a variety of musical solutions.

Developing engaging STEAM-geometry activities: Fostering mathematical creativity through the engineering design process using Indonesian cuisine context

Enhancing mathematical creativity requires more learning activities that foster creative thinking. However, teachers need more resources and activities to nurture students' creativity in mathematics effectively. Therefore, this study aimed to design STEAM-based geometry activities using the Engineering Design Process (EDP) to explore how such projects can enhance students' mathematical creativity. In this study, creativity focuses on how students use geometric principles to design Wingko Babat as an Indonesian cuisine, making culturally meaningful connections and solving design challenges. The study involved research and development using the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) model, continuing with a descriptive qualitative approach. The activities designed for the STEAM-Geometry projects allow students to think creatively and elaborate on the engineering design process. Through expert reviews that involved multiple educators, the design activities on the STEAM-Geometry project are reliable and valid. The findings show that the EDP on Geometry project enables students to think creatively. The findings imply that teaching geometry can develop the students' mathematical creativity through the engineering design process in STEAM activities. Furthermore, it indicates that the design activities encompass more than just understanding geometry; they also nurture creativity by applying STEAM principles in the engineering design process. Integrating STEAM principles within culturally meaningful, geometry-based tasks enhances students' critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving skills, preparing them to tackle complex challenges beyond the scope of mathematics.

Prompting AI Art: An Investigation into the Creative Skill of Prompt Engineering

We are witnessing a novel era of creativity where anyone can create digital content via prompt-based learning (known as prompt engineering). This article investigates prompt engineering as a novel creative skill for creating AI art with text-to-image generation. In three consecutive studies, we explore whether crowdsourced participants can (1) discern prompt quality, (2) write prompts, and (3) refine prompts. We find that participants could evaluate prompt quality and crafted descriptive prompts, but they lacked style-specific vocabulary necessary for effective prompting. This is in line with our hypothesis that prompt engineering is a new type of skill that is non-intuitive and must first be acquired (e.g., through means of practice and learning) before it can be used at a level of high quality. Our studies deepen our understanding of prompt engineering and chart future research directions. We conclude by envisioning four potential futures for prompt engineering.

Athletes vs. Musicians: Perceptions and Preferences in Workplace Social Programs

ABSTRACTThis paper investigates the intrinsic preferences for athletic versus musical events in the context of workplace social programs and explores the differing outcomes these events are perceived to generate. Empirical evidence consistently shows that individuals with athletic backgrounds are favoured in the job market, receiving better wages and benefits than their nonathlete counterparts because of stereotypes about their managerial qualities, stress handling and team spirit. In contrast, music participation is often undervalued, with musicians facing wage disparities and discrimination despite the cognitive and emotional benefits associated with music playing and listening. Through a vignette study, this research identifies that participants prefer athletes for events aimed at team cohesion and musicians for events designed to enhance creative skills. The findings highlight a type of job market discrimination based on preferences for workplace programs, emphasizing the role of stereotypes in shaping these preferences. The study contributes to the understanding of how workplace social programs are designed and the underlying biases that influence these decisions, offering insights into the mechanisms of job market discrimination and the potential for more inclusive program design that recognizes the value of both athletic and musical participation.

Analysis of Students Creative Thinking Abilities on the Topic of Energy in Living Systems

Creative thinking is a habit of sharp thinking with intuition, moving the imagination, revealing new possibilities, uncovering unique ideas, and inspiring unexpected ideas. Based on fluency, flexibility, and originality, this research aims to describe students' creative thinking abilities regarding energy material in class VII life systems at SMP Negeri 1 Tapa. This research type is descriptive qualitative research. The instrument used is a 10-number essay test whose validity has been tested. The sample used in this research was 30 students. The results of research on creative thinking abilities on energy materials in living systems are in the fluency aspect of 55.83% in the enough creative category, the flexibility aspect of 67.5% in the creative category, and the originality aspect of 52.5% in the enough creative category. This shows that the low ability to think creatively is due to students' need to understand the creative thinking ability test and students' unfamiliarity with creative thinking. Students are expected to be able to practice working on questions that can hone creative thinking skills and can use the results of this research as a reference for further research related to creative thinking skills.

Integrasi Pendekatan STEM dalam Pembelajaran IPA untuk Mengembangkan Kreativitas dan Pemecahan Masalah Siswa di SMPN 1 Cigombong

This study aims to analyze the effect of integrating the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) approach in science education on students' creativity and problem-solving abilities at SMPN 1 Cigombong. The STEM approach was implemented to provide an integrated learning experience, allowing students to connect science concepts with technology, engineering, and mathematics. The research method used is classroom action research (CAR), conducted in two cycles, with observation, tests, and interviews as instruments for data collection. The results showed that the implementation of the STEM approach improved students' creativity and problem-solving skills, as well as facilitated students in applying science concepts in daily life. Furthermore, students also demonstrated an increase in collaboration and communication skills. These findings contribute to the development of more relevant learning methods that meet the demands of 21st-century education in secondary schools.

Developing Website as Media in Wordpress Assisted in Learning Momentum, Impulse, and Collision to Improve Students' Creative Thinking Skills

Teachers are expected to have several competences; master teaching materials and have Indonesian character and personality, inspire and be a role model, have a charming appearance, be authoritative, firm, sincere, and disciplined who are able to educate, learn, guide, direct, train, assess, and evaluate students in accordance with the demands of current and future developments in information and communication technology. The purpose of this research is to develop a word press-based website to improve students' creative thinking skills in the physics concept of impulse and impact momentum. The method used in this research is development research or Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model including five stages, namely the Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluate stages. The results showed that the wordpress-based website media developed was feasible to use for learning momentum, impuils and collisions on MA Ali Maksum students in class X physics subjects with a value of 86.3% media attractiveness aspect, 87.0% material adequacy and 83.7% language use and media validity declared feasible, and wordpres-based website learning media can also improve students' creative thinking skills on the concept of momentum, impulse and collision.

Science Interactive E-Book Based Problem-Based Learning to Improve Creative Thinking Skills: Needs Analysis Based on Teacher Perception

The sophistication of technology today has been widely used by educators to teach and as a means for students to learn. The development of technology, especially in the field of education, then it requires teachers to have media and teaching materials that attract student's attention to learning. This study aims to analyze teachers' needs for interactive science e-books based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in learning. This research is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data collection uses observation and interview techniques. Interviews were conducted with two science teachers from SMP Negeri 3 Depok and one science teacher from SMP Negeri 11 Yogyakarta. The results of this study are aspects of the learning process of students tend to be passive with low creative thinking skills, the aspect of using teaching materials has never used interactive e-books for learning, the aspect of using teaching materials has never been integrated with the PBL learning model. Based on the results of data analysis, teachers need PBL-based science interactive e-books to improve students' creative thinking skills.

Digital Teaching Material of Integrated Science with Blended-PBL Model for Independent Curriculum

The Independent curriculum demands student-centered learning by utilizing technology, so that students' 21st century skills can develop. However, what is found at school is very contrary to the demands of learning in the independent curriculum. As a solution, Digital Integrated Science Teaching Materials Integrated Blended-PBL Model (DTMIS-Blended-PBL) was developed for the development of the Independent Curriculum. This research aims to determine the needs analysis, validity, and practicality of integrated digital science model teaching materials with PBL models. The research method used is the development method with the Ploomp. Research data in the form of knowledge scores, creative thinking skills, and communicative skills of students, validity and practicality of DTMIS-Blended-PBL. Based on the research results, three conclusions can be presented. First, there are problems in learning, especially low student achievement and creative and communicative thinking skills. Second, DTMIS-Blended PBL is valid with an average score of 0.87. Third, DTMIS-Blended PBL is practical with an average score of 93.53. Therefore, the developed DTMIS-Blended PBL is valid and practical so it has the potential to improve the quality of science learning and support the implementation of the Independent Curriculum.

Designing Learning Assessment with STEAM-Based Projects in Implementing of the Kurikulum Merdeka

This study aims to develop a learning assessment design with STEAM-based projects for implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka in junior high schools, focusing on the topic of environmental pollution. The Design-Based Research (DBR) approach was used, comprising three stages: analysis and exploration, design and construction, and evaluation and reflection. The assessment design was validated by three experts and tested with 35 students and a science teacher at a junior high school in Pontianak. Results from the analysis and exploration phase revealed that teachers needed a comprehensive assessment method to evaluate 21st-century skills. In the design phase, the developed assessment included project matrices and rubrics, receiving a validation score of 85.45%, indicating high validity. In the trial phase, teachers found the assessment design easy to use and effective in evaluating students' understanding of science and scientific processes. The design also identified students’ problem-solving and creative thinking skills. The findings suggest that this assessment could be a useful tool for evaluating students’ 21st-century skills and offers potential for further research, particularly in large-scale trials to improve its quality.

Development of Ethno-STEM Integrated Digital Teaching Material of Heat Concept to Promote Students’ Learning and Innovation Skills

Twenty-first century learning requires students to have student’ learning and innovation skills. However, in fact, students' learning and innovation skills are still low. The solution to this problem is the development of ethno-STEM integrated digital teaching material of heat concept to promote students' learning and innovation skills. The aims of this study were to determine the needs analysis, validity, and practicality of the use of ethno-STEM integrated digital teaching materials. The type of research is research and development (R&D) using the Hannafin and Peck model. The research instruments used include needs analysis, validity, and practicality instruments. Data analysis techniques using descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the data analysis, there were three research results. First, the needs analysis showed that students' critical and creative thinking skills were categorized as less with values of 54.36 and 52.92, respectively. Second, the product validity test obtained a value of 91.44 in the excellent category. Third, the product practicality test obtained a value of 82.29 in the excellent category. These results indicate that students' learning and innovation skills can be improved through digital teaching materials. Therefore, the ethno-STEM integrated digital teaching materials are valid and practical for use in learning.

Digital tooling with soft power to drive the smart silver economy under the aged society of Thailand

“Thailand 4.0” is the current national strategic plan driven by digital technology and innovation; “Silver Economy” is one among the urgent flagship to serve the urgent needs of aged society with its approximately 20-30 percent of Thai population. Besides, around 60 percent of the elderly proven being under the poverty line. Most of the urgent demands is economics opportunities, digital skills, and health care, respectively. Objectives are 1) the current situation of elderly towards “Silver Economy” embedded with “Soft Power”; 2) the digital literacy & competency skills of elderly towards “Silver Economy” embedded with “Soft Power”; and 3) the recommendation to support the elderly towards “Silver Economy” embedded with “Soft Power”. Mix research methods were used 1) Quantitative research by e-survey among the 100 elderlies across the country who involved with Silver Economy and Soft Power. Qualitative research by in-depth-interview and Focus Group Discussion among 15 key informants from the elderly and all stakeholders. Results found 1) most of the elderly have a very good attitude, high demands to run their Silver Economy activities especially with their own Soft Power; 2) most of the elderly gain fundamental digital literacy & competency. More digital top skills are needed to run their Silver Economy activities i.e., creative digital marketing skills, AI in digital PR, digital storytelling, and local tourism, etc. and 3) Recommendations for more tangible collaborations among all the relevant stakeholders from policy to the practical agencies. Friendly and effective portal for all kinds of collabolations among the stakeholders and the elderly themselves.
