Copper(II)-Catalyzed Four-Component Oxysulfonylation/Diazenylation: Synthesis of α-Arylhydrazo-β-keto Sulfones.

A new and convenient method for one-pot synthesis of α-arylhydrazo-β-keto sulfones is developed via Cu (II)-catalyzed oxysulfonylation/diazenylation of alkenes. This four-component cascade reaction enables a series of α-arylhydrazo-β-keto sulfone derivatives accessed from readily available alkenes, sulfinates, and diazonium salts under aerobic conditions. Furthermore, the 3-sulfonyl cinnolin-4(1 H)-one skeleton is successfully constructed from the corresponding α-arylhydrazo-β-keto sulfone product under basic conditions.

Multicomponent Facile Synthesis of Highly Substituted [1,2,4]Triazolo[1,5-a] Pyrimidines

A simple and convenient method for one-pot synthesis of a series of potentially biologically active [1,2,4]triazolo[1,5- a]pyrimidine-6-carboxamide derivatives has been developed in solvent-free conditions using maltose as a commercially available, cheap and eco-friendly catalyst. The salient features of the present protocol are mild reaction conditions, good to excellent yields, high atom economy, benign environmental conditions, easy isolation of products without column chromatography and clean reaction profiles.

A Convenient One-Pot Synthesis of Substituted 1,1-Dicyanocyclopropanes from Sulfonium Salts, Malononitrile, and Carbonyl Compounds

The three-component reaction of sulfonium salts 1, malononitrile 3, and aldehydes 2 in the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([BMIM][PF6]) or in EtOH in the presence of Et3N is a convenient one-pot method for synthesis of substituted 1,1-dicyanocyclopropanes (7 and 9). The reaction of compounds 1-3 occurs stereoselectively to form substituted trans-cyclopropanes (7), whose structures were confirmed by the data of physicochemical methods, including X-ray diffraction analysis. The yield of cyclopropanes produced by the reaction in the ionic ­liquid is 8-21% higher than that in EtOH.

Diastereoselectivity of tandem Michael addition–alkylation reactions: a convenient method for one-pot synthesis of α-branched 2,3-diphenylglutaric acid derivatives

α-Branched 2,3-diphenylglutaric acid derivatives with two adjacent chiral centres are easily obtained by one-pot Michael addition–alkylation sequences. The diastereoselectivity observed, which varies from outstanding to moderate and even low, was found to depend on the type of the metal intermediate (nitrile vs amide) and its γ-substitution pattern. A rigidly chelated transition state model that correctly predicts the sense of the asymmetric induction is proposed.
