Purpose This paper aims to review the latest management developments across the globe and pinpoint practical implications from cutting-edge research and case studies. Design/methodology/approach This briefing is prepared by an independent writer who adds their own impartial comments and places the articles in context. Findings This study investigated virtual team members’ perception of trust and commitment when using computer-mediated communication across different industries. The results showed that communication method significantly impacted trust and commitment levels, while industry type alone did not produce significant differences. Visual communication methods consistently demonstrated higher trust scores across all industries compared to non-visual methods. Key managerial insights emanating from the findings emphasize the importance of strategic tool selection and the universal benefits of visual communication tools in building trust across virtual teams, regardless of industry context. Originality/value The briefing saves busy executives, strategists and researchers hours of reading time by selecting only the very best, most pertinent information and presenting it in a condensed and easy-to-digest format.
