Use Case Framework of Computerized Production Monitoring Processes in Textile Industry

Use cases are a description of system functions resulting from needs analysis and obtained from interviews and observations. In standard practices, this stage is also known as the most time-consuming stage. Although every use case produced in software development is unique, there is always a similarity in its function to systems made previously in other organizations. These similarities are studied to reduce time in the process during the requirements analysis stage. Many studies have built and used a Use Case Framework (UCF) to be used together by software developers. So far, UCF has been owned by the banking industry in mapping use case standards in ATMs, health in standardizing use cases in electronic medical records, libraries in standardizing information retrieval, and mapping processes in crowdfunding. This research adds to the list of the latest UCFs produced, namely in the related textile industry, in standardizing the functions that exist in computer-based production monitoring systems. It is based on the fact that there are many textile companies globally, with more than 1.000 of them are established in Indonesia. This study investigated eight Indonesian textile companies to obtain information data to determine what functions are required, t. The data collection techniques used were interviews and observation. More stages were carried out in this study afterward, namely defining Actor Analysis and Functional Methods, Combining Analysis, Classification of Use Cases, Describing Use Case Scenarios, and Visualizing Frameworks. The data analysis results obtained from each company, we managed to define 10 main use cases, 4 supporting use cases, and four specific use cases. This study’s products can help provide a reference in using case design to create a computer-based textile company monitoring system.

Creation of an Evidence-Based Implementation Framework for Digital Health Technology in the Intensive Care Unit: Qualitative Study.

BackgroundDigital health technologies such as continuous remote monitoring and artificial intelligence–driven clinical decision support systems could improve clinical outcomes in intensive care medicine. However, comprehensive evidence and guidelines for the successful implementation of digital health technologies into specific clinical settings such as the intensive care unit (ICU) are scarce. We evaluated the implementation of a remote patient monitoring platform and derived a framework proposal for the implementation of digital health technology in an ICU.ObjectiveThis study aims to investigate barriers and facilitators to the implementation of a remote patient monitoring technology and to develop a proposal for an implementation framework for digital health technology in the ICU.MethodsThis study was conducted from May 2018 to March 2020 during the implementation of a tablet computer–based remote patient monitoring system. The system was installed in the ICU of a large German university hospital as a supplementary monitoring device. Following a hybrid qualitative approach with inductive and deductive elements, we used the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research and the Expert Recommendations for Implementing Change to analyze the transcripts of 7 semistructured interviews with clinical ICU stakeholders and descriptive questionnaire data. The results of the qualitative analysis, together with the findings from informal meetings, field observations, and previous explorations, provided the basis for the derivation of the proposed framework.ResultsThis study revealed an insufficient implementation process due to lack of staff engagement and few perceived benefits from the novel solution. Further implementation barriers were the high staff presence and monitoring coverage in the ICU. The implementation framework includes strategies to be applied before and during implementation, targeting the implementation setting by involving all ICU stakeholders, assessing the intervention’s adaptability, facilitating the implementation process, and maintaining a vital feedback culture. Setting up a unit responsible for implementation, considering the guidance of an implementation advisor, and building on existing institutional capacities could improve the institutional context of implementation projects in the ICU.ConclusionsImplementation of digital health in the ICU should involve a thorough preimplementation assessment of the ICU’s need for innovation and its readiness to change, as well as an ongoing evaluation of the implementation conditions. Involvement of all stakeholders, transparent communication, and continuous feedback in an equal atmosphere are essential, but leadership roles must be clearly defined and competently filled. Implementation methodology from a social systems informatics and engineering perspective applied to a parenting training program.

For implementation of an evidence-based program to be effective, efficient, and equitable across diverse populations, we propose that researchers adopt a systems approach that is often absent in efficacy studies. To this end, we describe how a computer-based monitoring system can support the delivery of the New Beginnings Program (NBP), a parent-focused evidence-based prevention program for divorcing parents. We present NBP from a novel systems approach that incorporates social system informatics and engineering, both necessary when utilizing feedback loops, ubiquitous in implementation research and practice. Examples of two methodological challenges are presented: how to monitor implementation, and how to provide feedback by evaluating system-level changes due to implementation. We introduce and relate systems concepts to these two methodologic issues that are at the center of implementation methods. We explore how these system-level feedback loops address effectiveness, efficiency, and equity principles. These key principles are provided for designing an automated, low-burden, low-intrusive measurement system to aid fidelity monitoring and feedback that can be used in practice. As the COVID-19 pandemic now demands fewer face-to-face delivery systems, their replacement with more virtual systems for parent training interventions requires constructing new implementation measurement systems based on social system informatics approaches. These approaches include the automatic monitoring of quality and fidelity in parent training interventions. Finally, we present parallels of producing generalizable and local knowledge bridging systems science and engineering method. This comparison improves our understanding of system-level changes, facilitates a program's implementation, and produces knowledge for the field. Computer-Based Multi-Layered Monitoring Systems on Textile Manufacturing Processes

Monitoring is a set of activities carried out to measure the achievement of objectives. One area that requires a monitoring system is the production process, this aims to ensure that production can be controlled and run as it should. Lack of monitoring of production can cause problems. Although there has been a lot of research on the production monitoring system, so far there has not been much mention regarding the provision or sharing of information on the progress of production implementation in more detail between the production department and the parties involved, especially in sharing information handling errors that occur during the production process. This is important because mistakes that occur during production can cause delays in shipping and will have an impact on the valuation or reputation of the company. The results obtained from the implementation of the system based on user acceptance testing is getting a level of acceptance of 81.5% of 42 test scenarios for 4 types of users. Implementing a production monitoring system can help in monitoring production. More interesting studies can be further carried out especially in the area of artificial intelligence for monitoring production systems.

The specification of zebrafish (Danio rerio) heart electrocardiogram index characteristic responses to different types of pollutants

Water quality was highly affected by common pollutants. Metals, pesticides and small molecules are ubiquitous pollutants. Advancement in engineering technology (computer-based monitoring systems) increased the efficiency of quantifying toxicity of different chemicals in an organism. The cardiovascular system reflects internal and external stress of an organism, and electrocardiogram (ECG) data reliably measure external stress. As ECG data can accurately reflect the physiological conditions of organisms, and zebrafish (Danio rerio) are considered to be good models for cardiovascular research, it is hypothesized that ECG parameters of zebrafish could indicate the toxicity of water-borne chemicals. To achieve this, we treated zebrafish with different concentrations of target chemicals (CuSO4, C10H19O6PS2 and NH4Cl) for 48 h and ECG data were measured. P-wave, R-wave, T-wave, PR-interval, QRS-complex and QT-interval data were the focus of this study. The results of self-organizing maps and Pearson correlation analysis indicate that the QRS-complex can be used as an indicator for CuSO4 stress. The QT-interval could be used to assess the C10H19O6PS2 stress. The QT-interval and P-wave can be used to evaluate the NH4Cl stress. Responses of zebrafish ECG parameters were identical with other vertebrate model, and were specific to toxicant types. It is proved that zebrafish heart ECG index could be used as a potential indicator in early detection of environmental stress.

Comparative Study of IoT-Based Topology Maintenance Protocol in a Wireless Sensor Network for Structural Health Monitoring

A structural health monitoring (SHM) system is an approach for identifying the damages caused to various kinds of structures using different system functions and providing the necessary feedback about structure’s conditions. As civil structures are the backbone of our society, to determine its daily operations is a very important issue. The performance measurement of those structures is manual whereas a computer-based monitoring system could automatically assess the structural damages and identify its exact location. Recently, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have attracted a great deal of attention for remote sensing applications due to flexibility to measure of various activity of large scale network. Since technology is advancing day by day, the overall cost of a monitoring system is also decreased. However, the major challenging fact of a WSNs is to provide scalability for covering a large area. The main question is arisen how much capable have of a monitoring system to turn off unnecessary nodes to save energy while there are no events detected. To support the scalability required of an existing network and save the node energy for future use, we propose a topology maintenance protocol integrated with construction to address the issue of a node’s energy consumption by placing it optimally and extending the monitoring system’s lifetime. As per the authors’ acknowledgement that, a little attention has been paid to developing such a hybrid approach. To mitigate node energy consumption issue with large scale support, an Internet of Things (IoT)-based maintenance approach is the best candidate for obtaining better system lifetime responses. Therefore, the main goal of this work is to develop an ‘on-the-fly’-based topology maintenance monitoring system, which can maintain a network’s infrastructure while gathering a node’s information to switch its state regularly when the present network is no longer optimal.

Monitoring System of a Heat Pump Installation for Heating a Rural House Using Low-grade Heat from a Surface Watercourse

Increasing the efficiency of heat pump systems primarily used for heat supply to buildings is an important topic. This is especially true for systems constructed according to non-standard schemes and which use low-grade heat from various sources that are rarely considered for these purposes. Such studies require special, often expensive, data acquisition systems. In this paper, a low-cost computer-based monitoring system is presented. The monitoring system incorporates solutions which are new or seldom used. It is shown that modern semiconductor thermistors can replace commonly used platinum temperature sensors and thermocouples. A proposal for processing frequency output signals from sensors through an analog-to-digital converter and a way to reduce the number of required input channels are described. The monitoring system allows optimization of various types of heat-pump-based installations. The system has been used for quite a long time to monitor the operation of the heat pump installation using low-grade heat from a surface watercourse. With its help, the feasibility of using the previously proposed submersible floating heat exchanger is justified and the optimal scheme for its placement in the watercourse is determined.

NON-INVASIVE BLOOD OXYGEN SATURATION MONITORING (SpO2) USING TRANSMITTANCE FOR PULSE OXIMETER

Measuring oxygen saturation of blood (SpO2) clinically plays a vital role in patient’s health monitoring. In fact, monitoring oxygen level is necessary for people having respiratory problems (pulmonary hypertension) and in other critical conditions. The primary motivation of this work is to develop a low cost computer-based oxygen saturation monitoring system using an embedded system along with lab windows CVI platform. The process of calculating the level of oxygen saturation in the blood using non-invasive method is also called as pulse oximetry, which consists of LED and photo detectors, using MSP430FG4618 microcontroller. The MSP430 employed in designing the microcontroller firmware program for digitization and transmission of the data from sensor to the computer. NI-based Lab windows/CVI Platform was developed as a part of this project to receive, plot, save data and determine the accuracy of SpO2 value. In this proposed system, we have achieved the maximum accuracy of 99.49% which is better than the previously developed methods. The proposed system is also designed with the low cost and low power consuming modules.

A Computer-Based Glucose Management System Reduces the Incidence of Forgotten Glucose Measurements: A Retrospective Observational Study.

IntroductionFrequent glucose measurements are needed for good blood glucose control in hospitals; however, this requirement means that measurements can be forgotten. We developed a novel glucose management system using an iPod® and electronic health records.MethodsA time schedule system for glucose measurement was developed using point-of-care testing, an iPod®, and electronic health records. The system contains the glucose measurement schedule and an alarm sounds if a measurement is forgotten. The number of times measurements were forgotten was analyzed.ResultsApproximately 7000 glucose measurements were recorded per month. Before implementation of the system, the average number of times measurements were forgotten was 4.8 times per month. This significantly decreased to 2.6 times per month after the system started. We also analyzed the incidence of forgotten glucose measurements as a proportion of the total number of measurements for each period and found a significant difference between the two 9-month periods (43/64,049–24/65,870, P = 0.014, chi-squared test).ConclusionsThis computer-based blood glucose monitoring system is useful for the management of glucose monitoring in hospitals.FundingJohnson & Johnson Japan.

Mortality among patients due to adverse drug reactions that lead to hospitalization: a meta-analysis.

The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of mortality among patients due to adverse drug reactions that lead to hospitalisation (fatalADRAd), to explore the heterogeneity in its estimation through subgroup analysis of study characteristics, and to identify system-organ classes involved and causative drugs for fatal ADRAd. We identified prospective ADRAd-related studies via screening of the PubMed and Google Scholar databases with appropriate key terms. We estimated the prevalence of fatal ADRAd using a double arcsine method and explored heterogeneity using the following study characteristics: age groups, wards, study region, ADR definitions, ADR identification methods, study duration and sample size. We examined patterns of fatal ADRAd and causative drugs. Among 312 full-text articles assessed, 49 studies satisfied the selection criteria and were included in the analysis. The mean prevalence of fatal ADRAd was 0.20% (95% CI: 0.13-0.27%; I2= 93%). The age groups and study wards were the important heterogeneity modifiers. The mean fatal ADRAd prevalence varied from 0.01% in paediatric patients to 0.44% in the elderly. Subgroup analysis showed a higher prevalence of fatal ADRAd in intensive care units, emergency departments, multispecialty wards and whole hospitals. Computer-based monitoring systems in combination with other methods detected higher mortality. Intracranial haemorrhage, renal failure and gastrointestinal bleeding accounted for more than 50% of fatal ADRAdcases. Warfarin, aspirin, renin-angiotensin system (RAS) inhibitors and digoxin accounted for 60% of fatal ADRAd. ADRAd is an important cause of mortality. Strategies targeting the safer use of warfarin, aspirin, RAS inhibitors and digoxin could reduce the large number of fatal ADRAdcases.

Visualization and Sonification of Long-Term Epilepsy Electroencephalogram Monitoring

Long-term electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring is effective for epilepsy diagnosis. However, it also takes a lot of time for clinicians to correctly interpret the long-time recordings. Real-time computer-based EEG monitoring and classification systems have attracted recently the attention of researchers to help clinicians locate online possible epileptic-form EEG signals. In this paper, we first present an accurate and fast EEG classification algorithm that can recognize three types of EEG signals: normal, spike, and seizure. 16-channel bipolar EEG recordings of epilepsy patients are preprocessed, segmented, and ensemble empirical mode decomposed (EEMD) into intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Features are extracted and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) is applied to train two classifiers: one is for seizure and non-seizure discrimination, and the other is for normal and spike discrimination. In order to furthermore help the clinicians, the results of LDA are visualized and sonified. The changes of the discriminant in the LDA on continuous EEG segments are backtracked to each feature, and thus to each EEG channel. Accordingly, contours of the changes in EEG channels are depicted. At the same time, sinusoidal waves in 440 or 880 Hz are played when EEG segments are classified into spike or seizure respectively. In the experiment, EEG recordings of six subjects (two normal and four seizure patients) are examined. The experiment result shows that the accuracy of the proposed epileptic EEG classification algorithm is relatively high. In addition, the visualization and sonification algorithms of epileptic-form EEG may greatly help clinicians localize the focus of seizure and nurses take care of seizure patients, immediately.

A mathematical model of the structure of the blood vessels system which provides blood microcirculation in the superficial tissues of human, namely the skin, to provide blood supply as a fluid, which heats / cools, and determines thermoregulation in changes of ambient temperature and overheating / supercooling is proposed. The model is based on data from current studies of the structure of microcirculatory beds based on microCT technologies. The microvascular system is modeled as a fractal binary tree optimized for uniform supply of a nutrient fluid (blood for biological tissues) due to the homogeneous distribution of capillaries, optimal values for diameters, lengths and branching angles in bifurcations of tubes that provide flow distribution with minimal energy costs. The model has been developed to use in computer-based monitoring systems for the planning of physiotherapy procedures for different diseases.

An Automated Irrigation System for Greenhouses

Gaza Strip is a small region with limited agriculture land and water resources. Greenhouse technology allows farmers to optimize the use of this land. In this paper a computer-based control and monitoring system is designed and tested to automate drip irrigation. The model greenhouse can be used as a prototype where several sensors are connected to an acquisition and control system using a PC and a data acquisition card. The designed system can be used as a stand-alone system by lay farmers with no technical background where they can command full control through a screen command. The system is set up to handle several crops by using a user screen to adjust certain parameters on the front panel. A web server enables users to remotely monitor and control the greenhouse through VI's from any place in the world with internet access. Moreover, the system periodically generates alarms and automatically sends emails to notify users of the conditions inside greenhouse.

European Proximity Operations Simulator 2.0 (EPOS) - A Robotic-Based Rendezvous and Docking Simulator

The European Proximity Operations Simulator (EPOS) 2.0 located at the German Space Operations Center (GSOC) in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, is a robotic based test facility of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) used for simulation of rendezvous and docking (RvD) processes. Hardware such as rendezvous sensors (cameras, laser scanners) or docking tools, as well as software (e.g. for navigation and control) can be tested and verified. The facility consists of two robotic manipulators with each six degrees of freedom, a linear slide of 25m length on which one robot can be moved in the laboratory, and a computer-based monitoring and control system. EPOS 2.0 allows for real-time simulations of the rendezvous and docking process during the most critical phase (separation from 25m to 0m) of proximity and docking/berthing operations.

SUSTAINING CONSUMER CONFIDENCE IN MIDDLE EAST AQUACULTURE SECURED BY TRACEABILITY SYSTEMS

In recent years, aquaculture is the fastest growing protein supply for consumers in the Middle East countries. The aquaculture production in the region increased by 111% from 837 247 to 1 768 917 tons between 2005 and 2014. Egypt, Iran and Turkey are the leading countries in aquaculture production but Saudi Arabia, Oman and United Arab Emirates have vast investment plans for future aquaculture projects as the others in the region. Middle East aquaculture still need to grow by nearly 20% to match the regional demand for seafood which is average 12,55 kg fish per capita. This huge necessity for growth raises doubts in regional consumers on the sustainability of aquaculture production. Sustainable aquaculture systems are being accepted as environmental friendly, profitable, productive and social. But the sustainability is not a measurable entity itself and its analysis relies on indirect criteria or indicators. Traceability is an important indicator that sustains consumer confidence on aquaculture products. There’s an increasing trend on the market for traceability of capture and aquaculture products. Therefore, many countries are developing various solutions for monitoring the aquaculture market. Turkey is one of these countries who's developing computer-based monitoring systems for fisheries and aquaculture production. In this study, acceptance, progress, and the difficulties in transition to new monitoring system and the prospective contribution of traceability systems on consumer confidence have been investigated in example of Turkey.

An Automated Water Nitrate Monitoring System based on Ion-Selective Electrodes

th , 2016; Revised: May 20 th , 2016; Accepted: May 27 th , 2016 Purpose: In-situ water quality monitoring based on ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) is a promising technique because ISEs can be used directly in the medium to be tested, have a compact size, and are inexpensive. However, signal drift can be a major concern with on-line management systems because continuous immersion of the ISEs in water causes electrode degradation, affecting the stability, repeatability, and selectivity over time. In this study, a computer-based nitrate monitoring system including automatic electrode rinsing and calibration was developed to measure the nitrate concentration in water samples in real-time. Methods: The capabilities of two different types of poly(vinyl chloride) membrane-based ISEs, an electrode with a liquid filling and a carbon paste-based solid state electrode, were used in the monitoring system and evaluated on their sensitivities, selectivities, and durabilities. A feasibility test for the continuous detection of nitrate ions in water using the developed system was conducted using water samples obtained from various water sources. Results: Both prepared ISEs were capable of detecting low concentrations of nitrate in solution, i.e., 0.7 mg/L NO3-N. Furthermore, the electrodes have the same order of selectivity for nitrate: NO3 >> HCO3 > Cl > H2PO4 > SO4 2, and maintain their sensitivity by > 40 mV/decade over a period of 90 days. Conclusions: The use of an automated ISE-based nitrate measurement system that includes automatic electrode rinsing and two-point normalization proved to be feasible in measuring NO3-N in water samples obtained from different water sources. A one-to-one relationship between the levels of NO3-N measured with the ISEs and standard analytical instruments was obtained.

Where are the Stents? A Computerized Tracking System to Eliminate the Forgotten Ureteral Stent

IntroductionUreteral stent placement is the main treatment for ureteral obstruction in contemporary urological practice. Meticulous followup is required to confirm ureteral stent removal. Forgotten ureteral stents create significant patient and physician risk. We assessed the efficacy of an electronic spreadsheet tracking system at a VA medical center urology practice to monitor ureteral stent placement and retrieval. MethodsFrom January 2012 to February 2014 a computer based monitoring system was begun for all stents placed in our practice. An Excel® spreadsheet was used to track ureteral stent insertion and removal. The VA Computerized Patient Record System was used to confirm ureteral stent removal. The spreadsheet included an automatic calculator feature to alert technicians/surgeons when stents remained in place 180 days or longer. ResultsIn 335 patients a total of 379 stents were placed from January 2012 to February 2014. Of these 379 stents 369 were removed or exchanged in 180 days or less. Ten patients died with stents in place and were counted in the removal group for an overall 100% rate of stents accounted for/removed during the study period. ConclusionsAn electronic spreadsheet is an effective method to track ureteral stent placement and removal. Manual data entry, and frequent spreadsheet followup and monitoring contributed to a 100% retrieval rate in this study. Future efforts should focus on automated systems that generate reminders with less emphasis on human data entry and tracking.
