Junior High School or mostly called SMP, is often referred to as a transitional period. During this time, students often face challenges and difficulties that require guidance and counseling services to help them navigate this crucial stage. However, limited access to guidance and counseling services prevents students from receiving optimal support. This can lead to various problems, including unaddressed student issues, declining academic performance, and impaired mental health. Therefore, strategic steps are needed to strengthen guidance and counseling services in SMP.This study employs a qualitative library research method. Based on data analysis, it is concluded that guidance and counseling in SMP need to be strengthened to ensure optimal delivery of services. The following are strategic steps for strengthening guidance and counseling services in SMP: (1) Increasing the number of guidance and counseling teachers. (2)Enhancing the professionalism of guidance and counseling teachers. (3)Developing infrastructure and resources. (4)Implementing a comprehensive and systematic guidance and counseling program. (5)Establishing collaboration with internal and external stakeholders of the school. It is expected that by strengthening these services, guidance and counseling can be effectively delivered, creating a conducive learning environment, and supporting holistic student development.

Exploring Primary School Pupils’ Career Aspirations in Ibadan, Nigeria: A Qualitative Approach

Aspiration constitutes a significant social construct, encapsulating the forward-looking mental framework of an individual. Adapting the Social Cognitive Career Theory, this research aimed to delineate the factors influencing the career aspirations of primary school students in their final and penultimate years in Ibadan. Data were amassed via unstructured yet in-depth interviews with 48 pupils, who were chosen using a multi-stage sampling method from two distinct local government areas within Ibadan. Subsequent to collection, the data underwent transcription, coding, and thematic analysis. The study highlighted the prevalence of gender-stereotyped career choices. The research identified that environmental factors exert varying degrees of influence on the pupils' career aspirations, whereas perceived academic capabilities play a pivotal role in shaping these aspirations. Based on these findings, it is recommended to incorporate comprehensive career guidance and development programs within the primary education curriculum in Ibadan.

Design and Implementation of a Career Guidance Program at Gachon University College of Medicine

The ultimate goal of career guidance is to help medical students develop a career plan that matches their personal characteristics, allows them to train in their desired subspecialty, and helps them to adapt well to medical practice after graduation. Gachon Medical School has designed a longitudinal career guidance program called GLORI (Gachon Longitudinal Orientation and Career Development), which is based on the outcome of each phase. The program consists of regular courses and portfolio-based career guidance from a mentor professor. In phase 2 (basic medical science), the “Career Seminar” course was developed. This course focuses on self-understanding through a psychological inventory, exploration of postgraduate career paths, and interviews with professors in specialties of interest. In phase 3 (the integration of basic and clinical science), the “Exploring Nonclinical Career Options” course was introduced. This course presents perspectives from doctors who have followed various pioneering career trajectories, including biomedical engineering, medical journalism, writing, public health, health care administration, the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, and other areas. All teaching methods were designed to encourage student participation. The assessment methods are assignment-based, including self-reflective reports and presentations. In addition, a portfolio-based career guidance program is implemented in phases 3 and 4 (clinical clerkship). It is expected that this case study will serve as a practical example for developing comprehensive career guidance programs for medical schools.

Efektivitas Manajemen Bimbingan Konseling: Layanan, Penilaian, dan Instrumen Evaluasi di SMA Negeri 1 Parigi

This research aims to describe the effectiveness of guidance and counseling management, particularly in services, assessment, and evaluation instruments at SMA Negeri 1 Parigi. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation. The research findings indicate that the factual evaluation instruments for comprehensive guidance and counseling programs do not currently meet the required validity criteria in the evaluation context. An alternative hypothetical model was successfully designed, and a refined and suitable model of evaluation instruments was produced. Furthermore, the study reveals that guidance and counseling planning focuses on designing services that meet the students' needs, implementation begins with forming organizational structures, execution follows the program with some constraints, supervision adheres to specific principles, and evaluation is conducted to measure the success of the planned program.

Basic Concepts of Group Counseling: An Intervention Services

This study is based on the importance of the conceptions and propositions of group counseling as an integrated part of the overall comprehensive guidance and counseling program in schools. The target of group counseling activities is individual counselees by utilizing the group atmosphere as a way of treatment and a means of remedial and self-development. Analisis Keprofesionalisme Guru BK dalam Menghadapi Masalah Siswa

Aims to determine the professionalism of BK teachers in dealing with student problems. This research uses a type of library research method. This library research is carried out by collecting various reading references that are relevant to the problem being researched, then understanding it carefully and carefully so as to obtain research findings. Research results: Professional competency in the Minister of National Education Regulation Number 27 of 2008 includes a guidance and counseling teacher who masters the concepts and practice of assessment to understand the conditions, needs and problems of clients; master the theoretical and practical framework of guidance and counseling; designing guidance and counseling programs; implement a comprehensive guidance and counseling program; assess the process and results of guidance and counseling activities; have awareness and commitment to professional ethics; master the concepts and practice of research in guidance and counseling.

Implementasi Program Comprehensive Guidance dalam Pembentukan Karakter Siswa di SMP Muhammadiyah Al Kautsar PK (Program khusus) Kartasura Sukoharjo

This research reflects an effort to explain the implementation of the Comprehensive Guidance program in shaping students' characters at SMP Muhammadiyah Al Kautsar PK (Special Program) Kartasura Sukoharjo. The purpose of this research is to reveal details about the implementation of the Comprehensive Guidance program in shaping students' characters and to identify factors that support and hinder the implementation of the program in character formation. Data collection methods used involved observation and interviews, while data processing was done using a qualitative approach. This approach was chosen to analyze data derived from observations and interviews. The results of this research indicate that the Comprehensive Guidance Program consists of five types of guidance: academic, health, social, spiritual, and long-live guidance. Supporting factors in the implementation of this program include young, energetic teachers who are enthusiastic about guiding children, as well as support from parents. However, there are some inhibiting factors, such as not all teachers having the skills to guide children and the fact that character formation cannot be achieved in a short period.

Efektivitas Program Comprehensive Guidance and Counselling terhadap Pembentukan Karakter Tanggung Jawab Remaja dalam Pendidikan Formal

Education in the 21st century emphasizes not only the quality of learning and academic achievements but also the formation of student character. Although character education has become a primary focus in recent decades, its implementation is often overlooked, especially in Indonesia. In the context of formal education in schools, there is an imbalance between academic competence and character development. To address this imbalance, the Comprehensive Guidance and Counselling (CGC) program is expected to bridge between academic achievement and character formation. This research focuses on the implementation and effectiveness of the CGC program in shaping the character of responsibility at Muhammadiyah Al-Kautsar Junior High School. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, the results show that the CGC program has had a positive impact on the formation of students' responsibility character. Support from various parties is key to the successful implementation of this program, but there are also challenges, especially related to the influence of social media and mental health issues among teenagers. This research is expected to contribute to character education literature and serve as a reference for educational practitioners in Indonesia..

Career guidance work in the branch of the Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University in Ryazan

Modern socio-economic conditions, the labor market, fi erce competition between educational institutions of secondary vocational education for applicants require eff ective career guidance in the region and beyond. Vocational guidance among young people is an important direction in the process of education and upbringing.The Ryazan branch of PGUPS has developed a comprehensive career guidance program “Create the Future of Russian Railways”. The program sets the following tasks: to form a positive image of the Ryazan branch of PGUPS; increase the level of public awareness of the educational institution in the region and the competitiveness of the branch in the educational services market; create conditions for conscious professional self-determination and disclosure of personality abilities; to strengthen relations with employers, social partners in matters of career guidance. Career guidance activities in an educational institution of secondary vocational education are organized in three areas: work among students of schools in the city and region; among students in order to retain the contingent and graduates to ensure successful employment.For successful career guidance, it is necessary to use both traditional methods and forms, and information technology. The data of the admission campaign from 2018 to 2021 were analyzed. The analysis showed the effectiveness of complex career guidance work among applicants.

Perceptions and reflections on online learning and implications for guidance and counseling

This study aims to explore students' perceptions and experiences of online learning and their implications for identifying student needs for guidance and counseling in tertiary institutions. This research uses quantitative methods. Purposive sampling technique was chosen to determine the sample. A sample of 1158 students participated in online learning at various universities in Indonesia by filling out an online survey. The results of the study show that different students have different perspectives about online education. Some thought that online education was significant while other thought it was unimportant. The education system in Indonesia has not developed a representative online education system. Online learning is something new, the availability of technological devices is inadequate and students are not ready for online lectures. Students have difficulty understanding the material, do not get adequate feedback and there is a lack of interaction between lecturers and students. Some students are of the opinion that online learning is quite effective. The implications of this research can be used to evaluate and identify the needs of students who are studying online. The results can be used as a basis for consideration in developing a comprehensive guidance and counseling service program. Online learning is followed by students effectively and efficiently.

Development of a Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program (CGCP) for the Junior High School Units in Iloilo City

This descriptive-correlational study analyzed the guidance and counseling (GC) needs of the Junior High School (JHS) students in Iloilo City in order to develop a comprehensive program that would contextually address their needs. The study used a standardized Students Counseling Needs Questionnaire. It has 81 items divided into four domains: Academic, Personal/Social, Career, and Social Responsibility. 267 students participated in the survey representing 10 purposively-selected JHSs in the city. Statistical tools used for analysis are Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal-Wallis Test, and Spearman’s Rho at 5% confidence level for non-parametric inferential computations; while mean and standard deviation were used for descriptive analysis. Results revealed the following: Public Schools have Higher Perceived Needs for Guidance Counseling (HPNGC) than Private Schools; the higher the age of the students, the higher the Higher Perceived Need for Guidance Counseling; there is no significant difference in terms of parents’ educational status and occupation; there is a high significant difference between Public Schools and Private School in terms of Higher Perceived Needs for Guidance Counseling in Personal/Social Needs. The results showed that the needs of Junior High school students in Iloilo City are ranked as follows: Career, Social /Personal, Academic and Social Responsibility. With this, a 100-page expert-validated Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program (CGCP) was contextually designed for Iloilo City JHS students following a 4-pronged framework with focus on themes: Career, Personal/Social, Academic, and Social Responsibility. Further studies must be done in terms of the specific areas of concern affecting JHS students of Iloilo City and other similar areas where a program can be built upon making the offerings more purposive and contextual.

Relationship between Rewarding Positive Behaviour and Disruptive Behaviour in Secondary Schools in Nairobi County Kenya

It is estimated that about 20% of secondary school students in Kenya display challenging behaviours such as disruptiveness, non-compliance or aggression that limit their ability to learn and interfere with productive classroom instruction. Teachers use a variety of ways to manage and reduce these challenging behaviours. For instance, from the literature reviewed, it is clear that disruptive behaviour is as a result of punitive measures used in managing students’ behaviour. In these studies, it is not clear how specific behavioural management strategies influence disruptive behaviour. The aim of this study therefore, was to investigate the correlation between rewarding positive behavior; teaching alternative behavior and disruptive behaviours among form two students in Dagoretti Sub County. Specifically, the study investigated the relationship between rewarding positive behaviour and teaching alternative behaviour and disruptive behaviour. This study employed a mixed research methodology in which both quantitative and qualitative methods were used. Data was collected because the study was aimed at establishing if there was a significant relationship between behaviour support strategies and disruptive behaviours among form two students. According to Kothari (2004) quantitative research methodology focuses on numeric and detailed data that is collected using structured research instruments while qualitative methodology collects data from the respondents using narratives. Questionnaires were used to collect data on the study variables and then analysed using computer software to answer the research questions. Interview schedule was used to collect qualitative data from the guidance and counselling teachers. This research methodology was appropriate for this study because it provided an in-depth understanding of the research problem since it employs diverse approaches in data collection. The study was based on Problem Behaviour Theory. To establish the nature of the relationships among the research variables, the study employed correlational research design. This study was carried out in Dagoretti North Sub-County, Nairobi City County. The study targeted 6456 form two students, 64 form two class teachers and 32 guidance and counselling teachers in the year 2023. Purposive sampling was employed in selecting form two classes, their class teachers and guidance and counselling teachers. Students were selected using simple random sampling. The sample consisted of 365 students and 20 teachers who were sampled from 10 schools. This study primarily utilized structured questionnaires for the classroom teachers and students to collect data on Rewarding positive behaviour used by teachers and disruptive behaviour. Piloting of the research instruments involved conducting a study in one school using 20 students and two teachers. The results were used to ascertain the validity and reliability of the questionnaires. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze quantitative data by calculating frequencies and percentages that were presented using frequency tables. Pearson product moment correlation analysis was employed to test hypotheses. The results indicate that there was a negative and significant relationship between rewarding positive behaviour and disruptive behaviour, r (352) = – .29, p < 0.05. Since the study found that there was a negative and significant relationship between rewarding positive behaviour and disruptive behaviour among students, teachers should ensure that they come up with comprehensive guidance and counselling programs on teaching the students desirable behaviour and rewarding positive behaviour. This will go a long way in reducing disruptive behaviour among secondary school students.

Gender, Problems Encountered and Counseling Techniques of High School Guidance Counselors in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, Philippines

This study dealt on the gender, problems encountered, and counseling techniques of high school guidance counselors in Marawi City Lanao del Sur, Philippines. There were 42 respondents from Department of Education Marawi City Division and from MSU External High Schools: MSU-ILS, MSU-UTC and ISED-SHS designated or appointed as guidance counselors of the respective schools included in this study. The study aimed to determine the gender of the guidance counselors, determine the problems encountered in counseling by the guidance counselors, and find out the counseling techniques of guidance counselors. The study used a descriptive method aided by validated questionnaires in gathering the needed data for the study. The data were tabulated, analyzed, and interpreted using frequency count, percentage, weighted mean and ranking. Result revealed that majority of the respondents were females. Most of the problems encountered by the guidance counselors were from the students such as coming to class late or habitual absences, limited resources of the guidance room, availability of guidance room, not comprehensive guidance program, and moral support from the administration were found problems encountered by counselors. In terms of techniques used, individual counseling technique was employed to cater the needs of the students. This study concluded that moral support from the administration, teachers and parents were in need to inspire the counselors to do their tasks. It is recommended that similar studies be conducted with more on concerns and issues drawn from the students and administrators.

Manajemen Bimbingan dan Konseling SMK Ma’arif NU 1 Bener

This study aims to find out the advantages and disadvantages of the BK program at SMK Ma'arif NU 1 Bener so that it can be improved and developed even better. To find out the mechanism of the BK program at SMK Ma'arif NU 1 Bener, we use a comprehensive BK pattern to find out and understand what planning is being done in the comprehensive guidance and counseling service program. The comprehensive BK pattern itself is an effort to provide assistance to each student in order to develop their potential as optimally as possible. This research uses descriptive research method with survey type. Based on research conducted on the description of the implementation of the BK service management system at SMK Ma'arif NU 1 Bener, it is not yet in the high category that implements the BK service management system.

Comprehensive Counseling Guidance Model In Providing Pre-Marriage Services For Students

Premarital education for students is considered necessary because, at this time, a person must be prepared to enter married life. Premarital education is one of the preparations that can be done by early adults in marriage and has a goal in preventing divorce. This study aims to formulate a hypothetical comprehensive guidance and counselling program to improve students' self-readiness in facing marriage and family life. This type of research is development research or Research and Development methods, namely research strategies used to produce specific products. This research will be conducted at Padang State University, namely to students of Special Education, Faculty of Education. The results of this study are (1) In general, special education department’s students of the Faculty of Education, Padang State University, as early adults, have less interest in preparing for their marriage. (2) The comprehensive premarital guidance and counselling model for students developed in this study is formulated from a theoretical framework based on field findings, consisting of 7 rational components, key concepts, vision & mission, model objectives, the content of guidance and counselling, control, and organization & personnel. (3) Based on the model validation test conducted by three counsellors on the General Guidelines for the Development of Comprehensive Premarital Guidance and Models for Students, it shows that the contents of the general guidelines are categorized as suitable or adequate.

STUDI LITERATUR MENGENAI PERANCANGAN PROGRAM BIMBINGAN DAN KONSELING KOMPREHENSIF BIDANG LAYANAN PERENCANAAN INDIVIDUAL

The purpose of this article is to discuss the paradigm shift in the guidance and counseling approach, namely from a traditional, remedial, clinical, and counselor-centered approach to a developmental and preventive-oriented approach. The paradigm is comprehensive guidance and counseling. The purpose of a systemic comprehensive guidance and counseling program is to address the gap between the competency standards of students to be achieved and the abilities possessed by students in schools or in certain areas. One component of comprehensive guidance and counseling is individual planning services. Individual planning services are provided to all students and are intended to guide students in the development and implementation of personal, social, study, and career plans.

EVALUATION INSTRUMENTS OF COMPREHENSIVE GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING PROGRAM IN THE CULTURE OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN INDONESIA

Program evaluation in comprehensive guidance and counseling is very important to determine the level of goal achievement. In order for the evaluation results to provide the right information, a valid and reliable instrument is needed. At the higher education level, the comprehensive guidance and counseling program, including the program evaluation component, does not have many references that users can refer to. The available references focus more on primary and secondary education levels. This research is intended to produce the intended evaluation instrument. Descriptive methods and literature review were used in this study. The data were revealed using a Delphi technique questionnaire involving three experts, then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. In this study, the constructs of evaluation instruments for comprehensive guidance and counseling programs were synthesized and modified from various expert opinions and professional organizations with two patterns of answers: yes and no, translated into 294 statements. The resulting evaluation instrument needs to be empirically tested for its feasibility by involving adequate participants.

Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Programs in Developing Student Talent

This article provides an overview of multicultural competencies from a global perspective, specifically as it relates to counseling students in Indonesia. An overview will be given of the cultural interactions observed by counselor educators who were visiting professors at a university in Indonesia. While racial and ethnic diversity in countries such as Indonesia remain homogenous, cultural differences were noted with respect to the intersectionality of gender and disability. The intersection of culture, gender, and disability present unique challenges for counselors trying to assist their clients. Thus, it is imperative that counseling students become culturally competent so they can assist their clients who come from varying backgrounds. Implications are given to counseling programs to increase their students’ multicultural competencies when working with global populations.

Guidance and Counselling Programme and Overall Adjustment of Teenage Mothers: Evidence from Secondary Schools in Kenya

Background: School adjustment is multifaceted that involves an array of demands varying in kind and degree which requires a variety of coping responses. Several teen mothers have been re-admitted to secondary schools in Kenya. Objective: The present study investigated the Guidance and Counselling Programme and Adjustment of Teenage Mothers in Secondary Schools in Kenya. Methods: The study adopted ex post facto’s Causal-comparative research design. The target population of the study was 242 re-admitted teenage mothers from selected schools in Ugenya Sub County, Kenya. The sample size comprised of 138 re-admitted teenage mothers who underwent the counselling programme and 104 re-admitted teenage mothers who were integrated back to the school without going through the counselling programme. Academic adjustment Questionnaire, Social Adjustment Questionnaire, Emotional Adjustment Questionnaire, Psychological Adjustment Questionnaire, Attitude towards Guidance and Counselling Questionnaire were used to collect data. The questionnaires had a good internal consistency of minimum α = 0.78. The data were analysed by both descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, standard deviation and percentages, and inferential statistics such as multiple regression techniques. Results: The results of the study revealed that student mothers registered the highest rating in social adjustment and they recorded the least rating in academic adjustment. However, the findings of the study revealed that students who had gone through formal counselling generally registered higher adjustments than those who did not pass through formal counseling. The teenage mothers’ attitude had a mediating effect on the relationship between guidance and counselling program and the overall adjustment of teenage mothers. Conclusion: School principals should provide comprehensive guidance and counselling programs to ensure the holistic adjustment of teenage mothers in schools.
