Cumulative and Rolling Horizon Prediction of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) with Machine Learning

Nowadays, one of the important and indispensable conditions for the effectiveness and competitiveness of industrial companies is the high efficiency of manufacturing and assembly. These enterprises based on different methods and tools systematically monitor their efficiency metrics with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). One of these most frequently used metrics is Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), the product of availability, performance and quality. In addition to monitoring, it is also necessary to predict efficiency, which can be implemented with the support of machine learning techniques. This paper presents and compares several supervised machine learning techniques amongst other polynomial regression, lasso regression, ridge regression and gradient boost regression. The aim of this article is to determine the best estimation method for semiautomatic assembly line and large batch size. The case study presented with a real industrial example gives the answer as to which of the cumulative or rolling horizon prediction methods is more accurate.

Assessment of the competitiveness of industrial companies and methods for assessing the quality of construction products

The model of a quality management system based on international standards ISO 9000 series is recognized in all the world. The aim of the article is to show the competitive advantages of a construction company in the modern market by improving its quality and product management system. We consider the implementation of the provisions of international standards ISO 9000 series as an effective solution to the problem. Quality improvement is a continuous work aimed at improving the technical level of product quality, quality of its manufacture, improving production elements and the quality system itself. The authors of the article give a specific method for improving the enterprise quality management system with a developed sequence. A risk-based approach to creating an enterprise quality management system was also considered. The main research methods in assessing the technical condition of certain building materials are differential, integrated and mixed methods. The authors show the calculation procedure using these methods, as well as the main results of their application. Then, the article provides a methodology for calculating the level of product quality, which is evaluated by a set of indicators, which do not include economic indicators.

Integrating resource criticality assessment into evaluation of cleaner production possibilities for increasing resource efficiency

A stable and secure source of raw materials is the key to any successful industrial activity. Resource criticality is often discussed in the context of the impact on the economies of certain geographic regions. However, the availability of required resources first of all concerns the competitiveness of industrial companies, especially in those countries which do not possess abundant natural resources. The Lithuanian economy relies heavily on imports since the country does not have abundant natural resources. The paper introduces resource criticality as an additional dimension for evaluating and prioritizing resource efficiency improvement options. Evaluation of resource criticality was integrated into the methodology for evaluation of Cleaner Production. Simple additive weighting (SAW) was used to solve the multi-criteria decision-making problem. The previous study on the natural resources that are imported to Lithuania revealed that metals are among the most important raw materials in terms of economic importance, supply, and environmental risks. Therefore, a typical metal processing company in Lithuania was selected for the detailed investigation of technological processes and Cleaner Production possibilities. The selected company processes about 3000 tons of various metals per year. The results of Process Material Flow Analysis show that most of the metal waste is generated during the metal plate cutting process (about 30.3 % of total metal consumption). Three resource efficiency improvement alternatives were evaluated and compared. The suggested decision support system was tested in order to decide on a definitive solution. The results reveal that evaluation of resource criticality in terms of geostrategic supply risk and economic importance can be used as an advantageous criterion to support the prioritization of Cleaner Production alternatives.

The image being a product of public assessment of the various aspects of the company, there appears necessary to apply different mechanisms for its multiplication and development, and , in particular, to intensify contacts, to expand social circle, to attract the attention of target audience to your work, etc. The objective necessity of systematic rising of the image, the inevitable subsequent image exchange between carriers considering the simultaneous development of communication instruments and methods of in the business promotes the integration of industrial enterprises in the informal social groups around image gravity.centres (vertical form) or in horizontal integration communities , built according to sectors or economic activity. The author believes that in the context of globalization, the further development of the institutions and of the «new economy» infrastructure the belonging to communities becomes one of the most important condition for the effective growth of the reputational capital. This raises a number of issues which require separate consideration. They are linked both with estimation of collective image and with economic motives and restrictions defining the behavior of associations participants.

More than ever before, the competitiveness of industrial companies with small batch production depends on their efficiency and flexibility in manufacturing, Classical methods of rationalization are available to all branches of industry. These methods still have their justification, but they are not sufficient to ensure lasting augmentation of productivity. Up to now, the productive output per employee was increased mainly by work simplification and mechanization. In order to obtain the required increase in efficiency now and in the future, automation and integration techniques have to be utilized to a higher degree.
