The Current Situation, Issues, and Improvement Measures of Foreign Direct Investment in China's Agricultural Economy

With the rapid development of economic globalization, the connections between countries have become increasingly close, and foreign direct investment has gradually become an important factor influencing the agricultural economic development of various countries. In order to achieve their own economic development, countries have actively sought to attract foreign investment. With China’s accession to the World Trade Organization and its active participation in global governance, attracting and utilizing foreign investment for domestic agriculture has become a strategic consensus for economic development amid intense global economic competition. This paper analyzes the history and current situation of foreign direct investment in Chinese agriculture, identifies the main issues faced by Chinese agriculture in utilizing foreign direct investment, and proposes corresponding solutions, including improving the foreign direct investment environment in Chinese agriculture and optimizing the structure of foreign direct investment sources.

Enhancing Supply Chain Management Through Artificial Intelligence: A Case Study of JD Logistics

With the intensification of global economic competition, enterprises face the challenge of improving the supply chain management efficiency, and AI technology, as an emerging field in computer science, can provide effective solutions. As a leading e-commerce logistics service provider in China, JD Logistics has accumulated a wealth of logistics technology capabilities and digital transformation experience within and outside the JD Group. Using JD Logistics as a case study, this paper discusses the application of AI technology in supply chain management and its impact on enterprise responsiveness and operational efficiency. AI technology has significantly improved the supply chain operational efficiency and responsiveness of JD Logistics by applying intelligent supply chain planning, predictive analysis and intelligent decision-making. The study systematically summarizes the key role of AI technology in optimizing supply chain management through a literature review and specific case studies, providing an important reference and practical experience for enterprises to achieve digital transformation.

Empowering Cities through Eventful City Planning: A Toolkit for Enhancing Destination Competitiveness

ABSTRACT In an era of urbanization and global economic competition, cities are striving to enhance their competitiveness on a transnational scale. By leveraging events as strategic tools for economic, social, and cultural development, cities can boost their destination competitiveness. This paper proposes a toolkit aimed at guiding cities, particularly those in developing countries, in their transition towards becoming vibrant “eventful cities.” The toolkit identifies Critical Success Factors (CSFs), including the vision of the city, relationships with/within stakeholders, programming of events, strategies for marketing, and the monitoring of outcomes. These CSFs are derived from a literature review and analysis of event strategy documents from various cities. The Delphi method, coupled with fuzzy theory to address uncertainties, is utilized to facilitate decision-making and generate actionable solutions. The urban planning toolkit and a practical handout offer cities a comprehensive approach grounded in theoretical insights and practical experiences, enabling them to navigate uncertainties and strengthen their competitiveness on global stage through strategic event-based development.

The Determinants of Financial Stability of Islamic Banks in ASEAN

Financial stability is one of the drivers of economic growth, while Islamic banking currently dominates in global economic competition compared to other Islamic finance industry. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the aspects that can affect the financial stability of Islamic banks. The purpose of this study is to analyze how capital structure, profitability, efficiency, and technology affect the financial stability (Z-Score) of Islamic banks in the ASEAN region. The study employs a panel data regretion. It utilizes documentation techniques such as the financial reports of each bank and other publicly available data. Sample selection is done through purposive sampling, resulting in a sample of 19 Islamic banks in ASEAN. The research concludes that capital structure significantly and positively influences stability, while efficiency has no impact on stability, and the financial soundness of ASEAN's Islamic banks is significantly impacted negatively by technology and profitability. Based on the findings of this research, the Islamic banks are required to pay more attention to the management of funds obtained from profitability as well as fund management for technology needs so as not to affect the financial stability of Islamic banks in ASEAN.

This research is motivated by the large number of students who are not used to using their reasoning powers but instead are used to memorizing, only fixate on source books, and feel that there is a gap between learning in the classroom and the students' daily life environment. For this reason, it is necessary to strive for science learning that emphasizes a culture of critical thinking that provides nuances of technology, environment, and society, as well as science learning that refers to the future, so that competent students are produced. In the 21st century, education demands the participation of students who are able to face global economic competition. The Partnership for 21st Century Skills emphasizes that 21st century learning must teach four competencies, namely communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. The learning process through the problem-based learning model can certainly familiarize students with developing their' critical thinking skills. Problem-based learning is curriculum development with a teaching system that stimulates the development of problem-solving strategies and basic knowledge and skills by placing students in an active role as solvers of everyday problems that are not well structured. The ability of students to understand the solar system and the characteristics of the members of the solar system in Exploring Space (Theme 9) Amazing regularity (sub-theme 9) The science content is not yet optimal, causing students to feel bored with the learning system, which is still very monotonous, so that the results obtained are not yet as expected. From these results, problem-based learning is very influential on science learning in Grade 5 elementary schools. Therefore, problem-based learning can be used in teaching strategies for natural science at the Grade V elementary school level.

The impact of online degree programs on employment opportunities in contemporary India

The contemporary global economy demands a highly skilled and adaptable workforce, yet a persistent gap persists between the skills sought by employers and those possessed by the workforce. Online degree programs have emerged as a transformative solution, offering accessible and flexible pathways for individuals to acquire the skills necessary to meet the demands of the modern job market. However, despite their growing popularity, there remains a research gap in understanding their effectiveness, particularly in India. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of online degree programs in bridging the skills gap, preparing students for the workforce, and assessing the relevance of their curricula in meeting contemporary job market demands, particularly in India. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, including surveys with educators, students, and employers, as well as interviews with industry experts. The findings reveal that online degree programs play a significant role in closing the skills gap and fulfilling job market demands in contemporary India. The curricula of these programs are highly relevant and aligned with industry needs, offering practical learning experiences that enhance students’ employability. Moreover, online education provides an inclusive, flexible, and cost-effective approach to education, enabling individuals from diverse backgrounds to access quality education. Overall, this research underscores the importance of online degree programs in preparing individuals for success in a rapidly changing and competitive global economy. By leveraging the full potential of online education, we can create a workforce that is well-equipped to meet current industry needs and adapt to the challenges of the future.

An empirical examination on firm innovativeness and supply chain resilience: The role of information sharing from a dynamic capabilities view

AbstractSupply chain disruptions present an existential threat to firms in today's highly competitive global economy. To appropriately thwart and mitigate this threat, firms must innovate capabilities that enhance and properly balance investments in their supply chain resilience posture. This study investigates the importance of information sharing and its interactive influence on firm innovativeness and resilience. This study uses a survey and partial least squares multigroup analysis to empirically test a theoretical model grounded in dynamic capabilities theory. Contributions from this study highlight that regardless of firm size, firm innovativeness is a significant antecedent to supply chain resilience. Key findings show that small firms use information sharing, whereas large firms do not, with their suppliers to accelerate innovation efforts in developing supply chain resilience capabilities. This study extends knowledge in the field by providing insights enabling large firms to improve their information sharing efforts to enhance innovation activities.

ECONOMIC GROWTH, RENEWABLE ENERGY, AND INFLATION: INTERCONNECTIONS OF A TRIANGLE

The primary objective of any nation's economy is to achieve economic stability and a high standard of living. This can be attained through sustainable economic growth. However, global economic competition often brings about challenges, one of which is the increasing demand for energy products driven by population growth. Historically, this demand has been predominantly met by fossil fuels, but due to resource depletion and environmental concerns, there has been a growing interest in alternative energy sources. This shift towards renewable energy has become a global trend. The energy sector serves as a key indicator of a nation's prosperity and development, with renewable energy production, transportation, and costs being vital metrics of development. For Turkey, like many developing nations, investing in renewable energy is crucial for sustainable growth. This study explores the relationship between renewable energy, economic growth, and inflation in Turkey from 1975 to 2022. It examines the process of economic growth in the first part, followed by an analysis of energy dynamics and inflation in subsequent sections. The study employs unit root tests such as ADF and PP, along with the Toda-Yamamoto causality test, using available data. The final results are then interpreted.

The research aims to determine the entrepreneurial mental readiness of tomang craftsmen in Gewerpe village towards increasingly open creative economic market competition; in order to foster and accelerate the economic development of Fakfak regency. Descriptive research uses a semi-qualitative approach through the application of weighting techniques and presenting the analysis results in a compilation between the spider diagram method and the gap analysis method. The 73 respondents were tomang craftsmen and community leaders in Gewerpe village, Fakfak district. The research results show that innovation to create tomang products is good, but the products produced have not been able to enter the competitive global creative economy market. Weak business motivation, recognition of the craft market, and commitment to doing business that is acceptable in the global market; is something that still needs to be improved

How do R&D and remittances affect economic growth? Evidence from middle-income countries

Sustainable development through technical progress for middle-income countries (MICs) is overlooked in growth allied studies. Despite their crucial role in alleviating poverty and resource shortages, MICs encounter challenges in global economic competition, driving persistent efforts to find practical solutions. Therefore, this study explores the integrated impact of R&D expenditure and remittances on economic growth in MICs. Using data from 25 MICs between 1996 and 2021, this study employs the “2nd generation unit root” and “panel autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL)” methods. The “feasible generalized least square (FGLS)” techniques and the “Dumitrescu-Hurlin (D-H)” causality test are employed to verify the robustness of the panel ARDL estimation. The Westerlund cointegration tests confirm a long-term cointegration between variables. The findings of the panel ARDL approach show that R&D expenditure and remittances positively and significantly influence economic growth. The robustness of the panel ARDL results is confirmed by the FGLS estimation, which produces similar outcomes. The outcomes from the FGLS and the ARDL methods are additionally validated by the D-H causality check. Therefore, encouraging R&D and remittances is crucial to accelerate middle-income nations' economic growth. The study reveals a novel mechanism of R&D expenditures, remittances, and economic growth in MICs, shaping their mutual influence on this economic landscape. The study supports middle-income countries' policymakers in creating effective policies for their financial institutions regarding R&D expenditure and remittances.

The constructivist approach as a concept of active learning and teaching of optimization processes at technical universities

As we move toward a more competitive global economy, the demand for highly qualified people to create and manage more efficient logistics systems, such as flows and management of materials or information, human flows, and supply chains, increases. Without logistics, the commercial world would grind to a halt. Businesses depend on logistics professionals to keep production and delivery moving forward which makes logistics education crucial. Companies expect their future employees to gain practical information, and to master what they are learning. Students must know how to apply what they learn. This is a reason why increasing importance is attributed to the constructivist approach to teaching and learning in university education. Through experiments or simulation of processes, and group work based on previous experience and knowledge, students better uncover the laws of phenomena. By actively engaging in the learning process, deeper and long-term applicable knowledge about the studied processes is acquired. The goal of this article is to implement the constructivist approach in the education of operational research and logistics at technical universities.

Research on the Effect of Organizational Culture of Chinese Youth Entrepreneurial Enterprises on Innovation Performance - Focusing on the mediating effect of organizational learning

In the era of knowledge economy, market competition is constantly changing, and enterprises are developing rapidly in China. With the strong support of the Chinese government for innovation and entrepreneurial activities, the entrepreneurial development situation is optimistic,especially as the main business enterprises to enter the stage of rapid development of youth entrepreneurship.However, while having opportunities, we can also see that the global economic competition environment is complex.Chinese youth entrepreneurs still need to improve their competitiveness and promote the development of innovative technologies. It is necessary for employees to continuously absorb knowledge culture and update their innovative technologies. This paper mainly studies the relationship between organizational culture, organizational learning and innovation performance of young entrepreneurs. 302 questionnaires were collected from Chinese entrepreneurial enterprises, and we uses SPSS and AMOS to analyze organizational culture, organizational learning and innovation performance, and shows the organizational culture affects innovation performance through organizational learning. Finally, in order to make a good organizational culture, enterprises need to continuously update their knowledge,improve the soft power of enterprises, to cope with the changing market environment, enhance the creativity of enterprises and their innovation performance.

Evaluation of innovation primacy in cross-regional central cities: Evidence from the Huaihai Economic Zone in China (2010-2020).

With the intensification of global economic competition, innovation has become one of the core elements of vigorous development in various regions. Improving the innovation ability of cross-regional central cities is the main factor influencing whether a region can achieve economic and social development. In this paper, an innovation primacy index system is designed according to the links of the innovation value chain, and the innovation advantages and empirical effects are comprehensively analyzed by using the point-to-point method, entropy weight method, gravity model and two-way fixed effect model. Based on the data of 8 cities in the core area of the Huaihai Economic Zone from 2010 to 2020 in China, Xuzhou's innovation primacy ranks first in the core area of the Huaihai Economic Zone, which accords with its status as the central city of the region. Its index has been rising, and its development trend is also good. However, the overall innovation ability of the core area of the Huaihai Economic Zone is unbalanced; the overall economic foundation is not solid enough. In terms of knowledge innovation, R&D innovation and industrial innovation, the industrialization level, around the activation of Xuzhou city vitality, enhances the Xuzhou innovation radiation drive, leading to a decrease in the Huaihai Economic Zone. Finally, some corresponding suggestions on innovation primacy have been proposed for the city of the Huaihai Economic Zone.

Optimizing Marketing Strategies for Enhanced Sales Performance in the Travel and Tourism Sector

This study explores key influencing factors affecting marketing sales performance for the travel and tourism industry. Research has shown that the travel and tourism industries have become one of the important sectors. Due to uncertainties in today's highly competitive global economy, these industries have struggled to survive and sustain growth during the pandemic. Hence, it is justifiable to make further research on how to develop these industries. It is interesting to investigate factors that can enhance marketing sales performance for these industries. The literature review shows that sloganization, dynamic pricing and personal selling are three important key influencing factors. A conceptual model was proposed. Conclusion and limitations of this study are discussed in this study.

More Graduates, Fewer Skills? Vocational Education Expansion and Skilled Labour Shortages in China

Abstract China's need for skilled workers to upgrade its industrial system is increasingly urgent due to global economic competition. Despite massive expansion of its Vocational Education and Training system over the past two decades, a significant skilled labour deficit remains. Current debates on the inefficacy of vocational education focuses on the lack of institutional synergies between education and industry but often overlooks the inherent conflicts within the vocational education system and micro-level skill formation processes. Our ethnographic research in two upper-secondary vocational schools unveils a disturbing trend: the rapid massification of vocational education, which prioritizes student enrolment numbers over educational quality, fails to address the demand for skill formation and skilled labour. It inadvertently generates adverse consequences for both administrative management and classroom instruction. Skill development frequently falls to after-school professional associations and an exclusive group of elite students. Meanwhile, reform initiatives, such as the craftsmanship campaign and skill competitions, benefit only a few without improving the employment prospects for the wider student population. These findings call for greater attention to the inherent tensions within China's Vocational Education and Training system. Only when there is a deeper understanding of the underlying causes of ineffective skill formation in vocational schools can China achieve its national goal of industrial upgrades.

Role of Public and Private Universities’ Recruitment and Selection Strategies on Employees Retention in Kenya.

To survive in the rapidly changing and competitive global economy, universities in developed and developing countries, have recognized human resourcing, selection, retention and employee turnovers as among the major concerns facing managers which must be dealt with carefully if they are to keep pace with the stiff competition and realize their desire for improved institutional performance. The study’s purpose was to evaluate the role plaid by recruitment and selection frameworks on retention of employees in Public and Private Universities. By applying descriptive design and stratified random sampling criteria, the study used 384 respondents out of 50,670 staff members working in the seventy (70) approved Universities. Data which was analyzed by using linear regression models where SPSS Version 23 software was applied, made use of questionnaires as the main research tool to collect data. Based on analyzed data the study established that 58.5% of employee’s retention was realized as a result of suitable recruitment and selection frameworks put in place by managers of universities who participated in this study. Besides, the study established that employees’ Human Resource Planning framework which registered a P-value of .672 followed by a recruitment framework that had a P-value of .585 and a career development plan whose P-value stood at .584 were most significant factors which made employee retention in those institutions realizable. The researcher established that Recruitment and Selection strategies played a major role in universities employee retention and therefore recommends that, other human resourcing frameworks which includes a comprehensive medical care for all employees, better remunerations, and pension and leave allowances, among others, be given consideration by universities’ boards of management and councils so as to further improve employee retention. The study also recommends the need to have one well-structured selection policy which should be adhered to by all universities.

Регулирование “облачных сервисов” как инструмент международной конкуренции: опыт США и Китая

The international cloud services industry represents an arena of global economic competition and has the potential to become a field for political rivalry among various actors. States remain the primary actors in this competitive landscape, with the U.S. and China actively enhancing their positions through various regulatory measures. The article examines government regulation strategies, categorising them into ‘positive’ and ‘negative’ as well as ‘defensive’ and ‘offensive’, with examples provided for each. A thorough analysis of national strategies from official U.S. and Chinese documents reveals their conceptual approaches to cloud services regulation. The documents of international intergovernmental organisations and global governance institutions through which countries implement (both individually and in their collaborative participation) their strategies for regulating cloud services were examined in detail. Commonalities and differences in the regulatory policies of the U.S. and China are highlighted, both in their national strategies and in principles articulated at the international level. The study confirms the hypothesis that cloud services regulation serves as a tool for international political influence. Key factors in the evolution of the international regulatory system for cloud services are identified, including their further technological development and shifts in the global order. The primary scenario axis is identified as the U.S.–China competition for dominance in the Global South. Based on these findings, the author presents a scenario forecast for the future of international cloud services regulation. Two potential outcomes are considered: the confrontational one leading to increased political competition, bearing risks of Internet fragmentation, divergence in technical standards, and a higher likelihood of destructive actions, including military use of cloud services; and the consensual one, resulting in international convergence on all aspects of cloud services regulation, including technical standardisation, legal norms, economic rules, fundamental principles of personal data protection and respect for national interests of all states.

"Modernism with a Soul": Designing and Building Communities for Corporate and Civic Life.

This essay explores how film, feature and documentary, can offer a new perspective on modernist architecture, industrial design, and urban planning. Through the lens of two young directors, Kogonada and Davide Maffei, it traces the histories of two twentieth-century company towns: Ivrea, Italy, headquarters of Italian business machine giant Olivetti, and Columbus, Indiana, U.S.A., home to Cummins Inc., a global leader in diesel engine design and manufacturing. Adriano Olivetti and J. Irwin Miller shared the conviction that modernist architecture and design had a decisive role to play not just in the economic health of their respective firms but in the civic health of their surrounding communities. These companies have long abandoned the corporate idealism of their founding patrons. In film, Ivrea and Columbus have become architectural time capsules that raise important questions about the transformative power of architecture and design in the face of an increasingly competitive global economy.
