Tourism Through Local Eyes: A Potential Assessment of Danawan Lake

Tourism bridges different aspects together. It depends most of its assets on the abundance of nature. This study was conducted in Danawan Lake, located at Sitio Darayaw, Panaytayan, Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro. This study, in partnership with the local government unit, is focused on the potential assessment of Danawan, a mountain lake, with a specific lens on gauging community perception when it comes to tourism development. Aside from the physical attributes of a destination, community participation in tourism development is very important as it will dictate its sustainability. This ethnographic study employed a qualitative approach from SWOT analysis through observation, mapping, and personal interviews. The results showed that Danawan Lake has potential for adventure and ecotourism, but its sustainable development requires careful consideration of both strengths and weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The indigenous community living near the lake has signified their acceptance of tourism activities and development in the area if advanced communication is considered. Collaboration and inclusivity should be at hand to attain the desired goals reflecting that the community considers the lake sacred. Future researchers may use other alternative potential assessment tools to gain more in-depth findings.

“It is my place”: residents’ community-based psychological ownership and its impact on rural tourism participation

The participation of residents plays a crucial role in achieving sustainable development of tourism in rural community. This study proposes a novel concept, namely community-based psychological ownership (C-PO) and examines its dimensionality and association with community participation in rural tourism. The scale of C-PO was developed through 4 stages. In Stage 1, initial item pool with 25 items is generated based on a qualitative study from Shangchengdai and Dachen Village in Zhejiang, China. Through Stage 2 and Stage 3, a 23-item six-dimensional scale is confirmed using data collected in two on-site surveys (n = 93, n = 416) at Maoyang Township, Zhejiang. In Study 4, using survey data (n = 485) collected from Heyang Village and Maoyang Township, Zhejiang, the relationships between C-PO and community participation in rural tourism development are examined. The results indicate that self-identity, self-efficacy, community responsibility and community belongingness have positive effects on community participation, while community possession and territoriality have a non-significant and negative impact, respectively. Recommendations are provided for better encouraging community participation in tourism development by managing residents’ psychological ownership towards their communities.

Community participation in tourism development at Tanjung Setumu Beach, Dompak Island, Tanjungpinang City

Tourism is one of the important sectors in regional development because it is able to make a significant contribution to regional income. One of the tourism locations in Tanjungpinang city is Tanjung Setumu Beach on Dompak Island which occupies a strategic position close to the urban center, offers beautiful scenery, and is an attractive tourist destination. Thus, Tanjung Setumu Beach can improve the community's economy, open up employment and business opportunities, and contribute to regional income, especially through tourism management that involves direct community participation. Active participation from the community plays a very important role in supporting the development of tourism, especially community-based development, considering that successful development requires participation from various parties. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of community participation in tourism development at Tanjung Setumu Beach. The research was conducted in May-June 2023 with a quantitative descriptive approach using Likert Scale analysis. Based on the research results, the level of community participation in tourism management at Tanjung Setumu Beach, according to the score results, reached a good category on several indicators, such as providing labor, ideas, material contributions, and promotions for the purpose of developing tourist attractions.

Community Participation in Village Tourism Development

Community participation in tourism development is the participation and equality of community members in a particular activity. Raharjana (2012) believes that the community plays an important role in supporting tourism development, especially in controlling the direction of tourism development so that it can minimize the negative impact of tourism activities. One of the well-known tourist villages in West Lombok Regency is Senggigi Village. This location became a research location with the title "Community Participation in Tourism Village Development (Senggigi Village Study, Batu Layar District, West Lombok Regency). This research examines community participation in the development of tourist villages using a qualitative approach. Apart from that, in this research data collection used interview, observation and documentation methods. The collected data will be analyzed descriptively qualitatively. Meanwhile, the theories used are Max Weber's theory of participation and social action. It was found that the participation of community members, especially those around the beach, was very good. The impact of community participation on development greatly helps the local economy.

OPTIMIZING THE POTENTIAL OF SANUR SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE AS TRANSFORMATION INTO MEDICAL TOURISM DESTINATION

Objective: In addition to having a positive impact on the environment, nature tourism in Sanur also empowers the local community. Ecotourism programs and local crafts support community participation in tourism development. The purpose of this research is to find out the potential of the Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ) can be optimized for increase local economic growth and providing positive impacts on community welfare. Additionally, this reasearch aims to identify the challenges and opportunities in the development of the special economic zone in Sanur, along with proposing strategies to overcome these obstacles to realize its maximum economic potential. Method: This research uses normative legal research which in this method examines the legal terms of the internal perspective of the legal norms as objects of research. The approach in this research consists of a statute approach, conceptual approach. This research uses 2 (two) legal materials which are primary legal materials and secondary legal materials. Primary legal materials based on Indonesian legislation about this topic of research. The secondary legal materials such as books, legal writing materials for example: law journals, legal research, and official sites. In this research phase, a systematic literature review was conducted which referencing various sources available in various research databases using Preferred Reporting Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA). Conclusion: The results of this research is that the advantages and benefits of the Sanur SEZ, including outstanding tourism potential, good accessibility, and diverse natural resources, can be a driver of economic growth. Technology and innovation development, collaboration with educational institutions, and intensive promotion are crucial steps to optimize the potential of the Sanur SEZ as transformation into medical tourism destination.

Tourism for Peace and Community Engagement: A Soft Power Approach to Conflict Resolution

The study analyses the soft power approach to conflict resolution using tourism and community involvement initiatives. This study investigates the impact of Peace through Tourism (PTT) and Community participation (CP) on Conflict resolution (CR) in Border destinations of Jammu and Kashmir (UT) in order to explore the possibilities of promoting just, peaceful, and inclusive societies, as articulated by Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16). Using community involvement and tourism as a means to greatly minimise conflict of all kinds as the main objective, about 340 residents of border towns were polled with questionnaires. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modelling (SEM) were employed to test and validate the study's assumptions about the relationships between variables. Current research findings suggest that peace through tourism plays a key role in resolving conflict at destinations and may play a supportive role in building peace on a global and local scale. The results also showed that community participation in tourism development has a big effect on resolving conflicts and that community participation lets locals enjoy the benefits of tourism activities and gives them the power to improve their skills through small business ventures. The paper gives suggestions for how different groups can help build peace through cooperative tourism projects and community interaction based on tourism.

The Effect of Social Capital Relations and Community Participation in the Development of the Bejijong Tourism Village, Indonesia

Tourism is one of the government's leading sectors that contributes significantly to the country's foreign exchange receipts. One of the strategies of the tourism sector to continue to trigger economic growth is to develop sustainable tourism through the Tourism Village program. Tourism village development requires the collective involvement of local communities to ensure the program's sustainability. The availability and utilization of social capital influence community participation in tourism development. This study aims to identify how social capital affects community participation in developing the Bejijong Tourism Village program. The population in this study includes the heads of families of tourism actors, with a total sample of 279 households. The variables used are social capital variables consisting of social networks, trusts, social norms, and participation variables at the implementation stage. The analysis used is the Structural Equation Model (SEM) to determine the constituent factors contributing to each variable, thereby facilitating an understanding of the specific factors that merit attention for improvement and those that should be upheld to optimize tourism performance. The results of the analysis show that social capital significantly influences community participation. The better the social capital in Bejijong Village, the more people will be willing to participate in developing tourism villages. The social capital variable with the highest influence on participation is the trust variable. Therefore, the community must uphold the optimality of factors influencing trust for the sustainability of tourism development.

PENGEMBANGAN PARIWISATA EKONOMI KREATIF DALAM PENINGKATAN PAD BERBASIS PARTISIPASI MASYARAKAT LOKAL DI KABUPATEN KONAWE SELATAN

Community participation in tourism development is mainly related to forms of community participation, community motivation and the impacts of tourism development on local communities that need to be further optimized, with the basic premise that it is an effort to develop tourism by referring to the concept of community-based tourism development. The aim of this research is to describe the characteristics of creative economic tourism development that is based on active community participation so that it can increase Regional Original Income. This research uses a qualitative approach. The sampling technique was snowball sampling technique. The research population is the entire community in the South Konawe Regency area. Meanwhile, the sample taken as the main data source is people who actively carry out participation activities in the creative economy sector. The data collection techniques used were observation and interviews. Data collected from research results in the field were then analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The research results show that there is a link between Regional Original Income (PAD) and creative economic tourism, namely the presence of a new economic form that can become a source of the community's economy. If this is developed more professionally, it will become a new source of PAD for the South Konawe Regency government. The development of creative economic tourism based on local community participation has not run optimally, where the development of creative economic tourism still receives very little attention from the local government, especially the role of the government as a facilitator to provide facilities that are needed by creative economic actors, including training for actors to improve quality and productivity, providing production equipment for business actors, and assistance in accessing capital.

The Role of Institutions and Community Empowerment in Realizing Sustainable Tourism in Bakas Village, Klungkung District

This study aims to identify the role of institutions and community participation in tourism development in Bakas Tourism Village. This study uses quantitative and qualitative approaches. This study was conducted by observing and digging up information directly about the role of institutions and community empowerment in realizing sustainable tourism through previously prepared study instruments. Based on the results, it revealed that the role of institutions is very active in the management of Bakas Tourism Village. In addition, community participation is also active in the development of Bakas Tourism Village from the planning stage to supervision.

URBAN ECOTOURISM: TANTANGAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN PARTISIPASI MASYARAKAT KAMPUNG WISATA KOTA BOGOR

The success of urban ecotourism in tourism villages requires community participation, both in developing tourism activities and businesses and in tourism management. The research aims to analyze three aspects, namely natural and cultural potential, the obstacles faced by the community in managing tourism villages, and the potential for community participation in managing tourism villages. The research was conducted in two tourism villages located in the center of Bogor City, namely Pulo Geulis Village and Labirin Village. Primary data was collected by distributing questionnaires to community respondents and analyzed descriptively using the Kruskal Wallis test. The study shows that cultural potential is more likely to be utilized in an effort to improve the community's economy and attract tourist visits. Community participation is still limited to Kompepar membership and food and beverages providers. The low participation is strongly suspected because the income derived from the tourism business is still unable to meet daily needs. Continuous coaching and increasing synergy between communities in tourism villages is an important thing to do to increase community participation in tourism development.

Community Participation in Tourism Development at the Macaronis Tourism Attraction, Silabu Beach, Mentawai Islands

This research aims to describe the participation of the Silabu community in tourism development at the Macaronis tourist attraction on Silabu Beach, Mentawai Islands. This type of research is descriptive-qualitative, the research subjects were chosen using purposive sampling, with the criteria for the research subjects being the local government and some members of the community. The techniques and data collection used are literature study and field study. Based on the research results, it was found that the participation of the Silabu community in developing the Macaronis tourist attraction was very instrumental in the establishment of this tourist attraction. Starting with proposing policies and hopes from the community for the development of the Macaronis tourist attraction area. Community participation in the field of facilities and infrastructure is something that has a big influence. The community as a workforce is the spearhead of a job, especially for this tourist spot, which requires quite a lot of energy, hard work, skills, and abilities. The obstacles encountered in developing tourism at the Macaronis Beach Silabu tourist attraction in the Mentawai Islands are that some participants have a top-down participation type or forced participation type, limited accessibility, especially land road access, availability of facilities and infrastructure, especially parking areas and counters in the Macaronis tourist attraction area, as well as limited human resources, both people employed and skills and abilities that still need to be improved, especially in service. Efforts made to overcome obstacles in developing tourism at the Macaronis Beach Silabu tourist attraction in the Mentawai Islands are in terms of community participation motivating each other to participate, in terms of limitations and availability of accessibility, facilities, and infrastructure, the efforts made are that the government continues to negotiate with superiors for an additional budget for improving access and completing facilities and infrastructure at the Macaronis tourist attraction.

Modal Sosial Komunitas Bujang Squad dalam Pengembangan Wisata Tahura Gunung Mangkol di Desa Terak Kabupaten Bangka Tengah

Tourism development with social capital assistance can have a positive impact on communities because it contains norms, actions, and values for managing social capital that can motivate community participation in tourism development. The research was intended to describe social capital for the Bujang Squad in efforts to develop tourist villages in Terak village, Central Bangka. The methods in this study use descriptive qualitative methods. According to the study, the social capital in the Terak village was formed into three sections of trust, norms, and social networks.

Collaboration and Community Participation in Tourism Development

This study discusses collaboration and community participation in tourism development in Malino Village, Gowa Regency. Malino Village has the best tourism destinations in South Sulawesi, and its management involves several parties. However, the involvement of these parties has not been well established in the cooperative relationship. Community involvement in tourism management is also considered to be still lacking. To realize tourism development in Malino Village requires collaboration between every party involved and community involvement. The data that is the study material in this study was obtained from the results of interviews, observations, and literature studies. Existing data were analyzed using Interactive Model Analysis. From the results of the analysis, it is known that the Gowa Regency Government does not have a collaborative foundation in tourism development. The cooperative relationship that exists is not based on the goal of overcoming tourism problems in Malino Village. Cooperation is carried out based on the interests of each. Community support in the development of tourism is realized by managing and maintaining the facilities and infrastructure to support the implementation of tourism prepared by the government. In order for the development of tourism in Malino village to be implemented properly, the Gowa Regency government should carry out collaboration in the form of business clusters.

Tanjung Boleng Tourism Village Development as A Tourism Destination Based on Community Based Tourism in West Manggarai

One of the Super Priority Tourist Destinations is Labuan Bajo which has the Tanjung Boleng Tourism Village, which currently has problems regarding community participation. CBT-based tourism development in Tanjung Boleng Tourism Village needs to be implemented to increase local community participation in tourism development. This study aims to determine the development of Tanjung Boleng Tourism Village as a Community-Based Tourism Destination. This study uses qualitative data types with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation, documentation, and literature study. Determination of informants in this study using purposive sampling and accidental sampling. The informants in this study were the Head of the Tanjung Boleng Tourism Village Pokdarwis, the Tanjung Boleng Tourism Village Head, representatives from the West Manggarai Tourism and Culture Office, representatives from NGOs, and the Tanjung Boleng tourism village community. The results show that the development of Tanjung Boleng Tourism Village as a tourism destination based on Community Based Tourism currently needs to be improved from the economic, political, environmental, cultural, and social components by increasing human resources and managers. Tanjung Boleng Tourism Village also needs to hold key principles and elements in developing Community-Based Tourism.

Approaches to Local Community Participation in Tourism Development

Tourism has gradually developed in the wave of human civilization. However, it has not reached the level of Sustainable Tourism Development (STD). This paper is trying to explore its underneath causes by applying the desk study research method. This study has underscored two major reasons for no confirmation of STD to date. The first one is the misuse of Local Community Participation (LCP) instead of assuring the sovereign role of locals for their participation from tourism planning to its execution. The second one is ‘no successful attempts of the researchers to make holistic planning from different approaches given by the researchers in the ‘tourism and travel’. Furthermore, in the developing economy where good governance is hard to realize, even the sectoral planning of each economic sector is to be made and implemented as a backup plan.

Analisis Karakteristik Champion Desa Wisata Di Pulau Lombok

The roles of local champions in the development of tourism villages are central as they can act as agents of change as well as motivators for community participation in tourism development. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of the local champions in tourism villages. Data was collected from four tourism villages on Lombok Island. Interviews were conducted with seven informants who play roles as local champions in the tourism villages. The results of the interviews were transcribed and analyzed using the content analysis approach. The research found four main characteristics of a local champion, namely visioning, affiliating, altruistic and autonomous, which inspire a local champion to initiate a tourism business and motivate his/her communities to participate in the development of a tourism village. Providing training and mentoring to his/her community members, and having an orientation towards the sharing benefits and development are two bold characteristics that distinguish a local champion from an entrepreneur in general.This study provides recommendations for local government and other related institutions regarding appropriate approach and mechanisms in order to help stimulate the emergence of local champions in the tourism villages

Peran Pemerintah Desa dalam Pengembangan Objek Wisata Pulau Tilan di Kepenghuluan Rantau Bais Kecamatan Tanah Putih Kabupaten Rokan Hilir

This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the role of the village government in the development of Tilan Island tourism and knowing what are the inhibiting factors for the village government in developing Tilan Island tourism objects in the Penghuluan Rantau Bais District, Tanah Putih District, Rokan Hilir Regency. This study uses a qualitative method using a descriptive approach. The theory used in this study uses the theory of pitana and gayatri (2005) which has 3 indicator components, namely, motivator, facilitator and dynamist. The findings from the results of this study are the role of the village government in developing the Tilan Island tourism object, Tanah Putih District, Rokan Hilir Regency running according to predetermined indicators, but there are still some shortcomings, so it is still not optimal. The inhibiting factors are as follows, lack of capital in the development of tourism objects, low human resources, and lack of community participation in tourism development.

Destination Management Systems and Community Participation: Indonesia Case

Destination Management Systems (DMS) are Information Communication Technology (ICT) based tools that were first created with a marketing and booking focus. DMS functions mainly focus on relaying destination images and providing relevant booking information through destination websites as their front end. More recently, policymakers and researchers have seen the potential for DMS to foster sustainable tourism outcomes through effective destination management. This research argues that DMS can help to empower local communities to engage in tourism development and create stakeholder networks that can facilitate more sustainable forms of tourism development. This research will investigate how DMS worldwide, specifically in Indonesia, can empower community participation in tourism development. A major contribution of this work will be the development and provision of a set of criteria for a community-focused DMS. This research is divided into two stages. The first stage focuses on investigating community dimensions in DMS practice globally and in Indonesia. The Motivation – Opportunity – Ability (MOA) model will be used to identify the DMS functions that can empower the community to participate in tourism development. The second stage of the research has two objectives: investigating the strategic reasons behind DMS design and formulating evaluation criteria of the study cases that emerge from the prior stage. Semi-structured interviews and the Delphi Method will be utilised to address the objectives, respectively. This research contributes to the academic discourse on the interrelation between Tourism, ICT and sustainable community-focused development. From a practical perspective, the outcomes of this research will enhance destination management practice by providing a new avenue to foster community participation in tourism development processes. In the upcoming presentation, I will present the research methods and early research findings, which mainly come from the web evaluation process in the first stage of this research. The presentation will also share the following process of the research.

Analysis of Community Participation in Sustainable Tourism Development in Simanindo Sub-District

The abundance of natural resources and the expansive beauty of nature make Simanindo a district with great potential for tourism development. This tourism potential was later developed by the Samosir Regency government and used as a sector capable of bringing foreign exchange to the country and society. Tourism development can begin from planning to management or utilization stages and evaluation of results. All these phases are inseparable from the roles and contributions of multiple parties, especially the communities surrounding the tourist destination. This shows that community involvement is an important issue for the success of future tourism development programs. The survey was conducted through a qualitative approach. This study explains and explains the symptoms and trends in the focus of the study. In the first focus, the research method was performed through the collection of key data, and in the second focus, the data was collected through observations, detailed interviews, and focus group discussions. The results of this literature review show that community involvement in tourism progress is influence by internal and external factors that can affect the development of the tourism industry and the standard of living of local communities. Speculative Hypotheses on Political Direction of Tourism Law in Indonesia; Community Base Tourism (CBT) Development

Tourism is one sector with fairly high development potential, even the tourism sector makes a large contribution to GDP and GRDP. According to the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 10 of 2009 concerning Tourism and the Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 33 of 2009 concerning Guidelines for Ecotourism Development in the Regions, it is stated the importance of community participation in tourism development. Based on this, this study aims to; 1). Studying the political direction of tourism law in Indonesia, 2). Mapping the internal and external environment for Community Base Tourism (CBT) development, and 3). Develop speculative hypotheses related to the CBT development strategy. The sources of the study are secondary data originating from books and publications related to Tourism Law Politics and CBT Development. Strategic Management matrix; EFAS/IFAS and Garnd Matrix were used in this study. Hope that the results of the study become an influence for next research related to the development of CBT from the perspective of Political Law
