PERAN HUKUM DALAM PLATFORM E-COMMERCE DALAM ERA TRANSFORMASI DIGITAL DI DESA BATUNUNGGAL KECAMATAN CIBADAK KABUPATEN SUKABUMI

This community service aims to improve the understanding and implementation of legal aspects in e-commerce platforms in the era of digital transformation in Batununggal Village, Cibadak District, Sukabumi Regency. The program was implemented through a workshop method with a participatory approach, involving 20 MSME players. The result was 30% who have utilized the e-commerce platform and 85% admitted to have a limited understanding of the legal aspects of electronic transactions. The program also resulted in the establishment of a digital business community and a digital legal consultation center at the village level. The sustainability of the program is supported through an ongoing mentoring system and the development of an online learning module

Learning stimulus for disengaged learners: Roles of outside participation

Background Learning contributes to adaptive performance needed in today’s business. A key challenge is workplace disengagement which can lead quiet quitting. Past studies indicate the compatibility when examining critical issues of learning in either a workplace or a classroom. Objective The case study examines the impacts on disengaged learners by outside participation. The business community’s participation focuses on providing continuous direct feedback and creating expectation (or subjective norms) at one upper secondary school where the feeling of disengagement has been prevalent. Methods The study’s construct adapts Theory of Planned Behavior and the Double-loop Learning Concept. The survey is completed by 171 current (Grade 12) and former students who have had two-year interactions with the business community from a group of 200 students. Statistical analysis is applied to examine the impacts on learning intention and behavior. Results The findings show the positive influence from direct feedback and subjective norms on intention to learn and attitude of disengaged learners which result in positive learning actions and behavior. Conclusions Dealing with disengagement should recognize consistency and continuity of feedback when involving outside participants. Feedback design to challenge the learners’ mindset and importance of subjective norm and informal learning are part of this consideration.

Buying and selling in the Balkans: the case of Kosovo

The study analyzes from the anthropological viewpoint the transformation of trade relations, trade transactions, the inclusion of men and women of different ages, representatives of various ethnic groups, religions and strata of society in the circulation of goods and services in the territory of Kosovo/Kosovo and Metohija at the turn of the 20th-21st centuries. From a quiet “province” of the Ottoman Empire, royal Yugoslavia and the SFRY, the historical region has turned into the forefront of confrontation between both Balkan elites and international forces. Leaving aside, as far as possible, the multi-vector discussion regarding the status of the territory/region/state, the author focuses on the social and cultural aspects of the type of activity and economic sphere that directly and acutely affect all residents of the region without exception – be they Albanians, Serbs, Turks, Gorans or Roma, Muslims or Christians, rich, poor or middle class – namely, trade. Growing all over the world, both in the business community and among professional researchers studying culture and society, the interest in corporate anthropology is due to the importance of the ethnic factor in the development strategy of individual states and the global economy, and this involves the collection of empirical data and an attempt to assess the risks of conducting business, trade, scientific and other projects that directly affect people’s lives and influence their social “well-being”.

This study examines the digital revolution’s impact on the accounting and auditing sector from two critical perspectives: education and the labour market. Using qualitative research methods mainly used in research, including analysis, synthesis, statistics, and content analysis of previously published studies, the authors conduct surveys of foreign and domestic studies. Then, a meta-analysis of the data collected reflects the impacts and how universities and institutions must adapt to provide students with new knowledge and skills related to digital transformation in the field of accounting and auditing. In addition, in the labour market, the study focuses on reflecting on the changing roles and duties of accountants and auditors in digitally transformed business environments. Research results show that globalization and digital technology have provided opportunities to enhance efficiency, transparency and accuracy in accounting and auditing activities. In addition, the rapid development of digital technology requires continuous adaptation from experts, as well as strong investment from the government and business community. Consequently, the study proposes policy implications and recommendations on improving education and training in this domain, as well as strategies for businesses and organizations to adapt effectively, maximizing the potential benefits of digital transformation.

(Re)designing an International Marketing course: Engaging a diverse classroom in real-client projects

The world is changing. Educators in business administration, including marketing, face the challenge of providing relevant education. Students, as a primary stakeholder, are interested in competencies that make them (competitive) employable. The organizations (employers) are reducing their willingness to train new employees on the job and demand their immediate contribution to organizational goals. Society increasingly emphasizes that higher education must go beyond education and research into the third mission of direct contribution to community development and economic development. This article discusses the (re)designing of an international marketing course based on experimental learning and instructional design. The course is integrated into the local business community and uses, as an asset, a diverse student population to respond to challenges local businesses face in pursuing entrepreneurial internationalization. The effects of the course (re)design are measured through the course evaluations during the last three-year period. The goal of the article is to contribute to collegial discussion on engagement with the business community to increase relevance of education, as well as share ideas for systematic course design and delivery.

SOCIO-ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY OF THE TOURISM SECTOR ENTERPRISES IN THE CONTEXT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC: GLOBAL AND UKRAINIAN DIMENSIONS

In 2020, one of the main negative factors affecting the development of the tourism sector was the COVID-19 pandemic. Complicating the economic situation due to the coronavirus crisis for developing countries and local communities that are disproportionately dependent on tourism threatens the growth of poverty in these countries, not to mention the possibility of developing the tourism industry on a sustainable basis. The article examines the situation in the tourism industry of Ukraine, which has arisen as a result of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, and analyzes the possibilities of recovery and development of the tourism industry based on sustainable tourism. Based on the analysis of statistical data and the study of the level and trends in the development of the tourism business at the global and national levels, the authors proposed practical directions for the recovery of the tourism industry in the context of COVID-19, which will be beneficial not only for Ukraine but for developing countries as well. It is shown that the crisis in the tourism industry, which arose as a result of quarantine restrictions to reduce the spread of the pandemic, has complicated the process of implementing the Sustainable Tourism Concept for countries with low economic performance. It has been proven that the further development of tourism in developing countries based on cooperation and consistency of measures is needed to regulate travel at the bilateral, regional and international levels, to ensure safety for travellers and workers. Bringing together the government, the public, and the business community to work on a practical and implementable plan to revive the tourism sector. Increasing investment in technology, green infrastructure and jobs.

DOMINANTS FOR THE NATIONAL ECONOMIES’ COMPETITIVENESS

This article is devoted to innovation as a prerequisite for the national economies' sustainable development and a domain for their global competitiveness. The paper aims to highlight the internal essence of mutual relations between innovation, competition, and economic growth. It was assumed that innovation positively affected the competitive behaviour of economic agents and eventually contributed to an increase in public welfare. Regarding the period from 2007 to 2022, we considered the sample of Central European countries and the Baltic states. Theoretical generalization has been applied to systematize the factors determining competition and innovation. We used statistical methods and comparative analysis to investigate the indicators' dynamics. The interdependencies between macroeconomic dynamics and a set of competition and innovation indicators have been assessed. It was proved that the proportion of medium and high-tech industry value added in the total value added of manufacturing was quite important, yet not the ultimate criterion for ensuring high growth rates and sustainable development. The dynamics of commercial spending on research and development had been ambiguous and unsustainable. To ensure strategic competitiveness, national governments should encourage innovation in their respective business communities. The sampled economies have been examined considering a set of innovation and competition indicators (e.g., gross capital formation, research and development expenditures, logistics performance, export technological structure, carbon dioxide emission, and renewable energy consumption). Considering the implications of globalization, tax burden as an integral characteristic of the national economy's competitiveness has been evaluated as well. It was pointed out that: a) a stable, understandable and transparent tax policy should be implemented to protect the investors' property rights; b) a system of total anti-corruption measures aimed at preventing the practices of receiving undue benefits should be set; and c) the business sector should improve own environmental and social responsibility complexly, introduce resource-saving, green and circular economy.

STRATEGY OF SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT BASED ON COMMUNITY (STUDY OF TODAY'S MODERN COFFEE SHOP BUSINESS ACTORS)

This study explores the sustainable community-based business approach adopted by modern coffee shops in Kendari City to boost community participation and foster customer loyalty. Through qualitative research, including case studies and in-depth interviews with business owners, employees, and community members, the findings indicate that involving the community in innovation and business adaptation strengthens customer relationships and enhances business sustainability. By engaging the community, coffee shops are able to create a sense of ownership, resulting in higher customer retention and greater brand loyalty. The approach also proves effective in addressing operational challenges such as fluctuating demand and supply disruptions by leveraging community-driven solutions. Furthermore, the adoption of sustainable practices, such as sourcing local ingredients, minimizing waste, and utilizing eco-friendly packaging, increases operational resilience and attracts environmentally conscious customers. This business model aligns with local policies promoting the sustainability of MSMEs and offers a replicable framework for other small businesses in similar contexts. Ultimately, the combination of community engagement and sustainable practices not only generates economic benefits but also builds social capital, ensuring long-term business resilience and contributing to local economic growth.

When it comes to establishing relationships with others in the business world, ethics plays an important role. Business ethics plays an important role in determining the success or failure of a company. Practicing good corporate ethics can also improve communication and foster mutual trust between colleagues. In running a company, you have to focus on two things. The first is aware of and considers the needs and emotions of others. The second reason is to avoid avoiding other people, because corporate ethics vary widely between cultures and countries. The purpose of writing this article is to find out how Business Ethics in Business Companies in the Globalization Era. The author of this article uses observation techniques as a research strategy, as well as library research methods. Based on the discussion in this article, the level of trust that each member of the business community has with each other is influenced by business ethics. There are a variety of stakeholders impacting each other, including businesses, suppliers and end users. A long journey from telemedicine to digital (public) health: the vision of different stakeholders

Abstract The healthcare system willingly adopts new innovative means of communication and solutions offered by computer science. Telemedicine was one of the first terms used in this context. It was initially associated with providing medical services but quickly extended to other areas of health-related activities, including public health. The growth of the global web yielded new prospects for the provision of health services, also resulting in new terms to name the use of information and telecommunication technologies in healthcare. E-health, stemming from the end of 90ies in the 20th century, was initially defined as a new domain strongly associated with public health, especially in the context of access to health information. Quickly, its understanding was extended to all health-related interventions based on innovative digital technologies. Today, digital health and digital public health have emerged as the key terms, signifying the next phase of emerging applications that leverage the advancements made on the technical front. The medical community is probably more inclined to use the former term, while public health professionals are dedicated to the latter. But do these terms carry distinct meanings? Or is it merely a matter of the professional group’s background? Is the focus on individual or population health a differentiating factor? In the meantime, business and technical communities have developed the concept of Health 4.0. This concept emphasizes using technologies like the Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence. However, digital (public) health benefits hugely from these solutions. One can ask whether every professional community needs other concepts and new terms for naming fields, resulting from the multidisciplinary effort. And where are the plain people in this landscape? Do they have sufficient digital and health literacies to accept new modes of health service delivery?

Attractiveness of tourist destinations and collaborative tourism governance on Revisit Intention as a support for the tourism economy of the Paropo area of Dairi Regency with Tourist Experience as an Intervening Variable

The challenge of tourism is how to create tourists who are loyal to tourist destinations because every corner of tourism has an impact on the economy for the business community in the tourist destination area, if tourist visitors enjoy their tour and have the intention to return to visit the tour, it will have an impact on increasing the economy of the community located in tourist destinations. This research will be conducted in Sumatra Utaran precisely at the location of the paropo tourist spot in Dairi Regency with a population of paropo tourist visitors who have visited at least twice as many as 230 tourists, this research approach is quantitative with the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) model. This approach is able to test a model that is most ideal in estimating endogenous variables, the sampling technique in this study uses Non-probability sampling where sampling does not provide opportunities or opportunities for each element or member to be selected as a sample The analysis model used to test the hypothesis in this study is multiple regression analysis using the Smart PLS application Directly that the attractiveness of tourist destinations, collaborative tourism governance and tourist experience have a significant effect on Revisit Intention as a support for the tourism economy of the Paropo area of Dairi Regency. Network Integration as a Tool for Sustainable Business Development

Business enterprises are required to adopt new economic models and business strategies in line with global trends such as the green agenda, the shortening of innovation cycles, digitalization (networking platforms) and socio-economic security. The models of network integrations (clusters, industrial symbioses, innovation ecosystems, etc.) are developing faster than other business models. Networking allows businesses to synergetically, based on the principles of collaboration, trust and self-organization, increase intellectual, innovative, social, and environmental values, which leads to economic growth and sustainable development. Through networking integration, the business performance of all participants in multi-company projects can be improved, regardless of their size and activities. The purpose of this study is to develop a methodological framework for assessing the synergistic effect and the level of collaborative maturity of participants in network industrial integration. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of network business integration efficiency. The authors’ methodology is based on the AHP hierarchy method, expert evaluation and Harrington’s level of desirability. The methodology is validated on Russian industrial integrations: industrial cluster of Nizhny Novgorod region; pipeline valve manufacturing cluster; South Ural industrial cluster producing spare parts and assembly units for roadbuilding, construction and agricultural vehicles. The results show that the level of collaborative maturity of business partners and the synergies from network integration effect the sustainability of business development. Recommendations for businesses are provided to improve their network integration and collaborative maturity. Furthermore, the findings allow the authors to define directions for further research, considering the interests of the business community, regional authorities, and financial institutions, and provide a framework for researchers to investigate the link between industrial network integration and economic growth.

In general, some of the community's drinking water needs can be sourced from well water and water that has been treated by the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM). However, the increasing demand for drinking water sometimes cannot be met by well water sources or water that has been treated by PDAM. Along with technological advances, accompanied by increasingly busy community activities today tend to choose a more practical way at a relatively low cost in meeting drinking water needs. One of the alternative ways to fulfill drinking water needs is by using mineral water products. Marketing is a process of preparing integrated communication that aims to provide information about goods or services in relation to human needs. The marketing carried out at the Riayadus Samawi Islamic Boarding School is still very simple, namely from word of mouth to the congregation. So that Yarisa Drinking Water has not been sold widely like bottled drinking water in general because the majority of consumers are still worshipers and the neighborhood around the cottage. The purpose of this community service is to contribute thoughts and training, especially to the manager of Yarisa drinking water regarding the importance of analyzing marketing strategies for a company in an effort to market its products so that these products can be accepted by the public and distributed widely. The PKM process carried out at the Riyadus Samawi Ludoyo Blitar Islamic Boarding School consists of three stages, including: first, problem identification with a study carried out by the PKM team, Yarisa drinking water managers, cottage administrators, cottage caregivers, and cottage owners to find out the quality and development of Yarisa drinking water marketing strategies. The second stage is the implementation of PKM by holding a seminar with the theme “Marketing Strategy for Bottled Drinking Water at Riyadus Samawi Islamic Boarding School” and attended by Yarisa drinking water managers and students and board members. The third stage is monitoring and evaluation of whether the bottled drinking water marketing strategy delivered by the PKM team has been implemented in Yarisa drinking water. The results of this PKM are socialization and assistance regarding bottled drinking water marketing strategies and making several marketing and motivational programs so that in the future Yarisa drinking water owned by Riyadus Samawi Islamic Boarding School can be marketed widely.

Students’ business innovation capabilities: The moderating role of university support and entrepreneurial resilience

The high unemployment rate among university graduates is prompting universities to enhance the business skills of their students. This research aims to holistically explain the role of university support and entrepreneurial resilience in increasing students’ business innovation capabilities. To analyze phenomena and relationships between variables, a quantitative approach using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used. This research sample involved 165 student entrepreneurs who are members of the student entrepreneur community in Indonesia. Knowledge management does not significantly impact increasing business innovation capabilities. However, perceived university support and entrepreneurial resilience have been shown to significantly impact business innovation capabilities and strengthen the influence of knowledge management activities on increasing business innovation capabilities. Universities must create policies supporting extracurricular entrepreneurship programs, focusing on building entrepreneurial resilience. This can be achieved through workshops and business incubator initiatives involving partnerships with industry and the entrepreneurial community. This research provides a new perspective in analyzing higher education entrepreneurship education through a more in-depth explanation of the extracurricular activities of the student business community to build business innovation capabilities based on knowledge, institutional, and trait theory perspectives.

Conflicts and competing interests in infrastructure development: A case of N2 toll road project, wild coast, South Africa

The Wild Coast region in the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa, is arguably the least developed area, primarily due to its historical marginalisation caused by Apartheid. To counter this underdevelopment, the current government of South Africa plans to implement a 550 km N2 Toll Road Project to link East London in the Eastern Cape with Durban in KwaZulu-Natal. The government envisions that the project will lead to spatial development through improved accessibility to resources. However, it has been criticised by many, including local communities and environmental advocacy groups, who contend that it will result in socio-ecological disasters and conflicts. Against this backdrop, this study explored the differing views and conflicts among stakeholders affected by the N2 Toll Road Project. A qualitative research approach was adopted, involving in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs) with government officials, local communities, business communities, and environmental advocacy groups. The findings indicate that the N2 Toll Road Project has generated significant controversy, with public opinion sharply divided between those who believe the road will have predominantly positive impacts and those who contend that its effects will be overwhelmingly negative. Concerns regarding the disruption of livelihoods, loss of land, destruction of socio-cultural heritage, and lack of consultation emerged as key sources of conflict among stakeholders. The study recommends the use of inclusive consultation processes and mitigation strategies to minimise conflicting ideologies among stakeholders.

A co-evolutionary approach to MNE-assisted industry development: Uruguay’s forest-based pulp sector

Purpose This study aims to investigate how co-evolutionary interactions between multinational enterprises (MNEs) and local actors shaped resource-intensive industry development over several decades, examining the economic, industrial and social implications of these interactions. It details the long-term effects of MNEs’ activities on the host country’s economic and social development and unfolds the path-dependent sequence and mechanisms of occurrence. Design/methodology/approach In a historical case study of Uruguay’s forest-based pulp sector during the 1970s to 2023, the authors analyze data from interviews with local industry actors and from company archives, academic publications and public environmental organizations. Findings The findings untangle the path-dependent co-evolution between MNEs’ activities and local actors and the resulting gradual development of the local industry. The increasing commitment of MNEs to the host country and their engagement with business and social communities impact the development of the industry’s technology basis, activity networks, identity and market. Spillovers and linkages occur in these interactions, driving industry development processes forward. The authors also reveal how MNEs attempt to address the social and environmental tensions associated with their operations to support their long-term presence in the host country. Research limitations/implications The authors contribute to the MNE-assisted development literature by untangling the specific mechanisms of MNEs’ engagement in local industry development over a long-term period and elaborating on its industrial and social implications. The authors enhance knowledge about spillovers by capturing a wide range of spillover and linkage effects and assessing their long-term impacts on industry development. Practical implications The authors offer insights into how policymakers can tailor instruments for attracting MNEs by adopting a long-term perspective regarding the implications for local development and accounting for economic, industrial and social impacts. This approach can maximize beneficial outcomes from MNEs’ presence and limit tensions between MNEs and local actors. Social implications This historical case study illustrates the complexity of MNEs’ engagement with local actors over time, including various tensions and positive developments. It illustrates the importance of social acceptance in achieving quality linkages between local and foreign actors. Originality/value This historical analysis untangles the path dependency in the long-term impacts of MNE-assisted development, illustrating the value of a temporal perspective.

Determinants of experiences and perceptions of corruption: A case study of Russian regions

In this article, the main determinants of experiences and perceptions of corruption in the Russian regions are analyzed. The research focuses on evaluating the determinants of corruption among ordinary people and business representatives in three regions of Russia. The main objectives of the research are: to reveal the relationship of individual characteristics and attitudes toward corruption with citizens’ actual experiences and perceptions of corruption; to learn how experiences and perceptions of corruption influence each other. The main conclusion is that the experience of corruption and its perception are interrelated. Those members of both the general public and the business community who perceive the prevalence of corruption to be high report experiencing corrupt practices more often than those who see a lower frequency of corruption. People who justify corruption are more likely to report encountering bribery and other low-level corruption practices. For business corruption, tolerance of corruption shows a significant link with perception of corruption, but not with real experiences of corruption. Social learning theory and victimization theory can explain the interdependence of perceptions and experiences of corruption in the Russian regions. The indicators of both perception and experience of corruption in the research can be used as indirect measures of corruption. Their interrelation in the same survey may also indicate their validity as instruments for measuring corruption.

“Tax Amazon, Not Working People”: Left Populism and Labor Organizing in Seattle

Abstract This paper examines the role of labor and community left populist organizing in the Tax Amazon campaign based in Seattle, WA, USA. As a case study within a larger project that examines manifestations of both right-wing and left-wing populism in urban spaces, the paper presents a lens through which urban populism may be examined in relation to new forms of labor organizing, with a specific focus on the dynamics of left populist resistance. The Tax Amazon campaign is situated within a longer trajectory of contemporary left populist organizing in Seattle. Emerging from a previous campaign that resulted in Seattle City Council instituting a $15 minimum wage, the Tax Amazon campaign brought together labor and community organizations to pressure Seattle City Council to introduce a corporate tax to generate funding for affordable housing initiatives. The campaign was met with resistance from the local business community, as well as some local trade unions. Being a leading corporate figure in this opposition, Amazon emerged as a key target of the left populist campaign. Through this study, we ask, what role did labor-community coalitions play in shaping the emergence of a broader left populist politics at the municipal scale in Seattle? Building from the experience of the Tax Amazon campaign, the paper reflects on the dynamics of resistance to corporate power through labor- and community-based left populist organizing. Reflecting a shift in U.S. politics at the municipal scale, Seattle offers a key case through which to assess whether and how urban populism may give rise to new forms of labor organizing. The paper also considers the ways in which the simultaneity of the Tax Amazon campaign and the Movement for Black Lives to ‘Defund the Police’ expanded the scope of political demands in the context of Seattle’s racialized urban precarity. In its conclusion, the paper draws from the analysis to reflect on both the broader prospects and limitations of left populist organising.

Business continuity management deployment, community resilience, and organisational resilience in private industry response to 2011 Ayutthaya flooding

AbstractThis research aims to investigate the role of community resilience in the relationship between business continuity management and organisational resilience, the focus on a real‐world event (flooding) and its impact on a community provides a concrete context that adds relevance to the study. To complete this research, a quantitative research design was used. A firm‐level survey of private industrial firms in Ayutthaya Province (n = 211) was conducted. Variables included three clusters of business continuity management practices, community resilience, and organisational resilience. The data were then analysed using descriptive statistics and structural equation modelling. The results showed that business continuity management practices contributed to organisational resilience. There were also interaction effects between community resilience and business continuity management practices, indicating that community resilience moderated the effect of business continuity management practices on organisational resilience following the floods. The study is the first to test the role of community resilience in the effectiveness of business continuity management practices on organisational resilience. This contributes to the research by providing a better explanation of how communities and organisations interact in organisational disaster response. The study only investigated a single context of disaster response (firms previously affected by the 2011 Ayutthaya flooding). The research focuses on industrial manufacturing and service firms and does not include retail firms. The research was conducted in historic perspective. Development of organisational resilience is affected by community resilience. Therefore, supporting community resilience through infrastructure, institutions, and other mechanisms is key for post‐disaster economic recovery. This provides a further reason for developing community resilience.
