Silicon nano-bridge waveguide assisted polarizing beam splitter

A low-loss and wideband silicon polarizing beam splitter is demonstrated with the assistance of a nano-bridge waveguide. Transverse magnetic light can be coupled to the cross port through the nano-bridge waveguide, while the transverse electric light comes out mainly from the through port. The designed device has a coupling length of 19.6 µm, which can realize an extinction ratio of 32.43 dB for TM mode or 34.23 dB for TE mode at a 1565-nm wavelength. Compared with the conventional three-waveguide coupler structure, the proposed device is based on a resonant tunneling principle, which can help to effectively improve the fabrication tolerance. The device is fabricated with a commercial CMOS processing facility, which can achieve an extinction ratio of 23.07 dB for TM or 23.46 dB for TE mode with a low excess loss, and the extinction ratio of more than 10 dB can be realized in the wavelength range from 1525 to 1610 nm for both modes. The device performance can be further improved, which would facilitate its practical applications in commercial integrated optical circuits.

A STUDY OF IMPROVEMENT OF A TECHNOLOGY FOR OBTAINING RADIATION-PROTECTING MATERIALS FOR SPACECRAFT AND ROCKETRY SYSTEMS


 
 
 Abstract. The use of commercial integrated circuits (ICs) in the electronic equipment of the spacecraft entails a certain risk. This is due to the fact that some commercial ICs are not suitable for operating conditions in space, most have a functional failure rate of about 10 krad per total accumulated dose (ie quite low), durability is not controlled from lot to lot, and reliability in extreme operating conditions is not defined. The object of development and research were the processes of interaction of materials with corpuscular radiation in a wide range of energies, and the subject of research was the shielding of electron and proton flows with energies up to 100 MeV by disperse -filled composite materials with a polymer matrix. A promising way to increase the survivability of the spacecraft by reducing the accumulated radiation dose is the use of protective materials that effectively protect the BEA from the radiation flow. The analysis of the current state of protection of radio- electronic equipment of space technology made it possible to establish that the most effective protection can be achieved by optimally combining the content of light and heavy elements in the composite material (CM). Modern research is aimed at obtaining composite materials that have the ability to weaken and disperse both light and heavy elementary particles. In the State University named after O. Honchar developed fundamentally new composite materials, which are superior in protection efficiency to those used today - metal ones, and are not inferior to the best world analogues. Preliminary results of theoretical and experimental research, including the use of computer modeling and simulation experiments on electron and proton accelerators, made it possible to draw conclusions about the possibility of increasing the complex of protective properties and prospects of the materials being created. The flow of high-energy electrons decreases by 1.4 times, and protons by 1.6 times compared to aluminum alloys. Enterprises of the space industry of Ukraine have shown great interest in the use of new protective materials. Analysis of the available information shows that the created materials are superior in operational parameters to those used today in China, Russia, Ukraine and other space countries. According to theoretical calculations, CM samples were developed, which have a higher stopping power of electrons than aluminum or its alloys, which are currently used in space vehicles in almost the entire range of the spectrum characteristic of GSO. Studies using the ELIAS linear electron accelerator showed that the obtained KM samples are more than 1.3 times more effective in terms of protective properties compared to aluminum at electron energies of the order of 2-3 MeV . There are prerequisites for obtaining an even more effective attenuation of the electron flow in comparison with the "reference" aluminum due to the variation of both the qualitative composition of the CM and its structure.
 
 

WIRELESS ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY MONITORING SYSTEM

Advances in commercial compact integrated circuit technology have made it possible to integrate wireless transceivers, signal processing, and sensors in a single integrated circuit package. Such solutions provide a low-cost means of communication with the physical world and can have applications in areas as diverse as security, production management, research and environmental monitoring. We outline the challenges of system design for a distributed sensor network in which each node has a limited power source and communication channel. The nodes must establish a synchronous network with multiple hops, determine locations, and communicate for purposes such as relaying a signal and transmitting data to a server device. The confluence of low-cost wireless, computing, and sensors has created a new generation of smart devices. The use of tens and thousands of such devices in self-organizing networks has led to the creation of a new technology called wireless sensor networks. In this article, we will consider an example of the use of such a network based on the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) wireless data transfer protocol, which gave a serious impetus to the development of wireless sensors. Together with organic polymers, which are used as a sensor layer, it is possible to achieve high energy efficiency and selective sensitivity in monitoring. It is also worth noting the fast and cheap production of electronics based on organic polymers. Due to the semiconductor and flexible properties of organic semiconductor materials, flexible organic electronics has become the core of our technology. The field of organic electronics is entering a commercial phase. The appearance on the market of the first prototypes based on organic transistors made from solutions is intended to expand the existing presence in the market of organic electronic devices. We'll look at some of the key performance requirements for working devices. We will also look at some of the important advances in semiconductor design and device manufacturing technologies and discuss some of the technical challenges that are needed to optimize next generation products.

Single-Event Effects on Commercial-Off-the-Shelf Edge-Processing Artificial Intelligence ASICs

Single-event effects test results are presented for heavy ions and high-energy protons on two commercial edge-processing artificial intelligence application-specific integrated circuits, particularly the Google Coral Accelerator Module, which employs a Google Coral Edge Tensor Processing Unit, and the Intel Neural Compute Stick 2, which employs the Intel Movidius Myriad X. The observed SEE signatures, probable causes within the devices, and single-event functional interrupt cross-sections are discussed. Ultimately, when SEUs or SEFIs are observed, there are negligible changes in the measured precision or accuracy of the algorithm, and rarely do the errors result in incorrect identification or classification.

Recent Advances in Batteryless NFC Sensors for Chemical Sensing and Biosensing.

This article reviews the recent advances in the field of batteryless near-field communication (NFC) sensors for chemical sensing and biosensing. The commercial availability of low-cost commercial NFC integrated circuits (ICs) and their massive integration in smartphones, used as readers and cloud interfaces, have aroused great interest in new batteryless NFC sensors. The fact that coil antennas are not importantly affected by the body compared with other wireless sensors based on far-field communications makes this technology suitable for future wearable point-of-care testing (PoCT) devices. This review first compares energy harvesting based on NFC to other energy-harvesting technologies. Next, some practical recommendations for designing and tuning NFC-based tags are described. Power transfer is key because in most cases, the energy harvested has to be stable for several seconds and not contaminated by undesired signals. For this reason, the effect of the dimensions of the coils and the conductivity on the wireless power transfer is thoroughly discussed. In the last part of the review, the state of the art in NFC-based chemical and biosensors is presented. NFC-based tags (or sensor tags) are mainly based on commercial or custom NFC ICs, which are used to harvest the energy from the RF field generated by the smartphone to power the electronics. Low-consumption colorimeters and potentiostats can be integrated into these NFC tags, opening the door to the integration of chemical sensors and biosensors, which can be harvested and read from a smartphone. The smartphone is also used to upload the acquired information to the cloud to facilitate the internet of medical things (IoMT) paradigm. Finally, several chipless sensors recently proposed in the literature as a low-cost alternative for chemical applications are discussed.

A New Method to Synthesise the Sinusoidal Oscillator Based on Series Negative Resistance-Capacitance and its Implementation Using a Single Commercial IC, LT1228

An alternative method for synthesising the sinusoidal oscillator based on series negative resistance-capacitance is presented in this paper. The proposed topology is constructed with the series negative resistance-capacitance circuit connected in parallel with a grounded resistor and capacitor. To validate the proposed method, a new grounded series negative resistance-capacitance simulator is also proposed as a subcircuit for synthesising the sinusoidal oscillator. The series negative resistance-capacitance simulator is based on a commercially available integrated circuit (IC), LT1228. The equivalent negative resistance and equivalent negative capacitance can be adjusted electronically using an external DC bias current. The sinusoidal oscillator that is synthesised using the proposed method consists of a single LT1228, two capacitors, and three resistors. The frequency and the condition of the oscillation are orthogonally adjusted. Also, the condition of oscillation is electronically controlled. The amplitude of the sinusoidal waveform is adjustable. In addition, the output voltage node of the proposed oscillator has a low impedance, which allows it to connect to other circuits without using an additional buffer. Both PSPICE simulation and experiment are used to validate the proposed circuits.

Adapting a commercial integrated circuit 3-axis Hall sensor for measurements at low temperatures: Mapping the three components of B in superconducting applications

Mapping the magnitude and the direction of the flux density B→ at cryogenic temperature is of particular interest in numerous applications involving superconductors. However, it is difficult to find 3-axis Hall probes or magnetometers operating at low temperature and above the mT range. In this work, we report the design and the construction of a device able to perform such a measurement. We show that it is possible to take advantage of a commercially available, inexpensive, room-temperature 3-axis Hall sensor and place it inside a thin cylindrical insert whose inner temperature is carefully controlled to be 25 ± 0.2 ℃, irrespective of the outer cryogenic temperature (typically 77 K). The active area of the Hall sensor is located at 2.2 ± 0.25 mm from the bottom of the insert, so that it can be positioned close to the magnetic structures to be characterized. We built the interfacing electronics that is located sufficiently close (typ. < 300 mm) to the digital Hall sensor and manages the temperature control. The whole system behaves thus as an independent and reliable 3-axis Hall probe able to operate in cryogenic conditions. We tested this device to characterize Bx,By and Bz generated by two magnetized high-Tc superconductors: a bulk polycrystalline tube and a ring magnet made from an eye-shaped coated conductor. We show that the device allows measurements down to ∼ 0.16 mT. Combining the three measured components of B→ enables mapping the local magnitude and direction of the flux density.

Asynchronous Circuit Principles and a Survey of Associated Design Tools

Planning and implementing a semiconductor integrated circuit is a highly complex process. Although physical limits seem to be approaching, it currently follows a growing evolutionary path. As deep submicron technologies evolve towards perhaps even sub-nano geometries, the design process complicates accordingly. Once subtle in higher geometry nodes, some effects become relevant or even dominant. Examples are effects that tamper the reliability of wires, such as crosstalk, or the adequate behaviour of gates, such as the increasing sensitivity to single event effects. Design techniques must thus also evolve, to provide a wide range of tools to deal with new effects during the integrated circuit design and test processes. This tutorial covers one set of design techniques that is often overlooked, but which can reveal themselves instrumental in dealing with the mentioned technology evolution, the use of clockless or asynchronous circuits. The tutorial is divided into three parts: first it introduces a metamodel for the digital circuit design process enabling to reason about distinct design styles; second, it covers the main principles of asynchronous circuit design, differentiating it from mainstream circuit design techniques such as conventional synchronous design; the third and last part presents a set of tools and systems that can be employed to effectively design asynchronous design, with emphasis on material that can be used to produce manufacturable circuits and systems, often associated to commercial integrated circuit synthesis, implementation and test tools and frameworks.

Synthesis of High-Input Impedance Electronically Tunable Voltage-Mode Second-Order Low-Pass, Band-Pass, and High-Pass Filters Based on LT1228 Integrated Circuits

This paper introduces two new high-input impedance electronically tunable voltage-mode (VM) multifunction second-order architectures with band-pass (BP), low-pass (LP), and high-pass (HP) filters. Both proposed architectures have one input and five outputs, implemented employing three commercial LT1228 integrated circuits (ICs), two grounded capacitors, and five resistors. Both proposed architectures also feature one high-impedance input port and three low-impedance output ports for easy connection to other VM configurations without the need for VM buffers. The two proposed VM LT1228-based second-order multifunction filters simultaneously provide BP, LP, and HP filter transfer functions at Vo1, Vo2, and Vo3 output terminals. The pole angular frequencies and the quality factors of the two proposed VM LT1228-based second-order multifunction filters can be electronically and orthogonally adjusted by the bias currents from their corresponding commercial LT1228 ICs, and can be independently adjusted in special cases. In addition, both proposed VM LT1228-based second-order multifunction filters have two independent gain-controlled BP and LP filter transfer functions at Vo4 and Vo5 output terminals, respectively. Based on the three commercial LT1228 ICs and several passive components, simulations and experimental measurements are provided to verify the theoretical predictions and demonstrate the performance of the two proposed high-input impedance electronically tunable VM LT1228-based second-order multifunction filters. The measured input 1-dB power gain compression point (P1dB), third-order IMD (IMD3), third-order intercept (TOI) point, and spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of the first proposed filter were -7.1 dBm, -48.84 dBc, 4.133 dBm, and 45.02 dBc, respectively. The measured input P1dB, IMD3, TOI, and SFDR of the second proposed filter were -7 dBm, -49.65 dBc, 4.316 dBm, and 45.88 dBc, respectively. Both proposed filters use a topology synthesis method based on the VM second-order non-inverting/inverting HP filter transfer functions to generate the BP, LP and HP filter transfer functions simultaneously, making them suitable for applications in three-way crossover networks.

Next-Generation Hybrid RF Front-End with MoS2-FET Supply Management Circuit, CNT-FET Amplifiers, and Graphene Thin-Film Antennas

One-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) materials represent the emerging technologies for transistor electronics in view of their attractive electrical (high power gain, high cut-off frequency, low power dissipation) and mechanical properties. This work investigates the integration of carbon-nanotube-based field-effect transistors (CNT-FETs) and molybdenum disulphide (MoS2)-based FETs with standard CMOS technology for designing a simple analog system integrating a power switching circuit for the supply management of a 10 GHz transmitting/receiving (T/R) module that embeds a low-noise amplifier (LNA) and a high-power amplifier (HPA), both of which loaded by nanocrystalline graphene (NCG)-based patch antennas. Verilog-A models, tuned to the technology that will be used to manufacture the FETs, were implemented to perform electrical simulations of the MoS2 and CNT devices using a commercial integrated circuit software simulator. The obtained simulation results prove the potential of hybrid CNT-MoS2-FET circuits as building blocks for next-generation integrated circuits for radio frequency (RF) applications, such as radars or IoT systems.

Four Unity/Variable Gain First-Order Cascaded Voltage-Mode All-Pass Filters and Their Fully Uncoupled Quadrature Sinusoidal Oscillator Applications.

This paper presents four new designs for a first-order voltage-mode (VM) all-pass filter (APF) circuit based on two single-output positive differential voltage current conveyors (DVCCs). The first two proposed VMAPFs with unity-gain, high-input (HI) impedance and low-output (LO) impedance use two DVCCs, a grounded capacitor, and a grounded resistor. The last two proposed first-order VMAPFs with HI impedance and variable-gain control are two resistors added to each of the first two VMAPFs. The last two proposed first-order VMAPFs with variable-gain control use two DVCCs, one grounded capacitor, and three grounded resistors and provide HI impedances, so that VMAPFs can be directly cascaded to obtain high-order filters without additional voltage buffers. The four implementation circuits based only on grounded passive components are particularly applicable for integrated circuits (ICs). To confirm the cascading characteristics, an application example of a fully-uncoupled quadrature sinusoidal oscillator (FQSO) is also proposed. PSpice simulation results have confirmed the feasibility of the proposed structures. VMAPF and FQSO circuits are also constructed from commercial AD8130 and AD844 ICs, and their experimentally measured time and frequency responses are compared to theoretical values. The supply voltages for both the AD8130 and AD844 ICs were ±5 V. The measured power dissipation of the proposed first-order VMAPF and second-order FQSO circuits is 0.6 W. The measured input 1-dB compression point for the four VMAPFs is about 19 dB. The measured total harmonic distortion of the four VMAPFs is less than 0.67% when the input voltage reaches 2.5 Vpp. The calculated figures of merit for the four VMAPFs are 628.2 × 103, 603.06 × 103, 516.53 × 103, and 496.42 × 103, respectively.

Echo Signal Receiving and Data Conversion Integrated Circuits for Portable High-Frequency Ultrasonic Imaging System.

Ultrasonic imaging has become a very promising technology, and it has been widely applied in biomedicine, geology, and other fields due to its advantages of safety, nondamaging, and real time. Especially, the portable high-frequency (>20 MHz) ultrasonic imaging system (UIS) has been generally used in biomedical detection and diagnosis. In the complex actual environment, the effect of integrated circuits (ICs) on the performance of portable high-frequency UIS is obvious. In the echo signal transmission link, the analog front end (AFE) and the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) are the two most critical modules, where AFE is used to receive and preprocess the analog ultrasonic echo signals and ADC to convert the analog signals from the AFE output to digital. The structure and performance of the ICs integrated into terminal equipment and in-probe for the portable high-frequency UIS are introduced and discussed. Some typical commercial ICs are also summarized. Based on the requirements and challenges of portable high-frequency UIS, the future development directions of ICs mainly include high integration, ultralow power consumption, high speed, and high precision, which can provide valuable reference and advice for the design of AFE and ADC for portable high-frequency UIS.

Electronically Controlled Biquadratic Filter and Quadrature Oscillator Using CDTAs

This article presents a current-mode biquadratic filter and quadrature oscillator circuit based on current differencing transconductance amplifiers (CDTAs). The proposed circuit does not require changing the circuit topology. In addition to the low-pass filter, high-pass filter, band-pass filter, and sinusoidal quadrature signal, the proposed circuit has a pole frequency that can be controlled independently from the quality factor, while the oscillation frequency can be controlled non-interactively. The circuit impedance with high output can directly drive the load without using a current buffer. Furthermore, grounded capacitors can function without the use of external resistors. This qualification is ideal for the future development of integrated circuits (ICs). After the PSPICE simulation with 90 nm CMOS parameters and the experiments by commercial ICs, the results are consistent with the theoretical analysis of the proposed circuit.

Isomorphic Circuits of Independent Amplitude Tunable Voltage-Mode Bandpass Filters and Quadrature Sinusoidal Oscillators

This paper presents isomorphic circuits of voltage-mode (VM) non-inverting bandpass filters (NBPFs) and VM quadrature sinusoidal oscillators (QSOs) with independent amplitude control functionality. The proposed VM NBPFs and VM QSOs exhibit low-output impedance and independent amplitude control, which are important for easily cascading the VM operation and independent control of the amplitude gain. The proposed isomorphic circuits employ three LT1228 commercial integrated circuits (ICs), two grounded capacitors, two grounded resistors and one floating resistor. The use of grounded capacitors is beneficial for the implementation of the IC. Both NBPFs have a high-input impedance and have a wide range of independent amplitude tunable passband gain without affecting the quality factor (Q) and center frequency (fo). The Q and fo parameters of the proposed NBPFs are orthogonal tunability. By feeding back each input signal to the output response of the NBPF, two VM fully uncoupled QSOs are also proposed. The proposed VM fully uncoupled QSOs have two quadrature sinusoidal waveforms with two low-output impedances and one independent amplitude tunable sinusoidal waveform. The frequency of oscillation (FO) and the condition of oscillation (CO) are fully uncoupled and controlled electronically. The performances of the proposed isomorphic circuits have been tested with a ±5 volt power supply and are demonstrated by experimental measurements which confirm the theoretical assumptions.

Mathematical framework for three cross-over memristor and its realization employing OTAs

PurposeThe purpose of the paper is to report an emulation configuration of a three pinch-off memristor (TPM), whose transient characteristics consist three cross-over points on the voltage-current plane, which is dissimilar to a conventional memristor. These characteristics can be very useful in memristor-based multi-bit memory devices and hyperchaotic oscillators.Design/methodology/approachThe work describes the Mathematical framework for TPM and a circuit emulator based on the derived conditions. The configuration is based on five operational transconductance amplifier (OTAs) and four grounded passive elements. After which, we have verified its operation using personal simulation program with integrated circuit emphasis simulation environment. Finally, the implementation of OTA-based TPM using commercial integrated circuit (IC) LM13700 has also been presented.FindingsIt has been shown that a flux-dependent memductance expression of cubic order can show three intersections on the VI contour under certain parameter related constraints. Moreover, the OTA-based emulator reported in the work is very compact in nature because of the no use of external multiplier IC/circuitry, which has been popular in previous emulators.Originality/valueFor the first time, a multiple cross-over memristor emulator has been reported which can operate under practical operating conditions such as at practical operating frequencies and sinusoidal excitation.

Evaluation of a Planar Reconfigurable Phased Array Antenna Driven by a Multi-Channel Beamforming Module at Ka Band

In this paper, a planar active phased array antenna demonstration with linear polarization (LP) at Ka Band (28-30 GHz) is presented. The proof of concept is carried out to evaluate the possible problems that may arise, to analyze possible calibration stages and to assess the viability of the integration of an active system with a Multi-Channel Beamforming Module (MCBM). To fulfill this task an $8\times 8$ -element planar array arranged in column subarrays of $1\times 8$ elements for 1D beam steering is proposed. The single element consists of a printed circular patch connected to a microstrip feeding line through metallic vias in a multilayered structure. Both the amplitude and phase distributions are performed by a commercial integrated circuit (IC) designed for transmission purposes, from the common port to each of the 8 output ports. Thus, an evaluation of the IC performance is also included within this work. Despite the inherent amplitude and phase feeding errors of the IC, the beam-steering accuracy of the system is reasonable. A nice correspondence between the simulated and measured $8\times 8$ -element array beam steering directions is obtained, with errors below 1° in the steering of the beam.

Classification of time-domain waveforms using a speckle-based optical reservoir computer.

Reservoir computing is a recurrent machine learning framework that expands the dimensionality of a problem by mapping an input signal into a higher-dimension reservoir space that can capture and predict features of complex, non-linear temporal dynamics. Here, we report on a bulk electro-optical demonstration of a reservoir computer using speckles generated by propagating a laser beam modulated with a spatial light modulator through a multimode waveguide. We demonstrate that the hardware can successfully perform a multivariate audio classification task performed using the Japanese vowel speakers public data set. We perform full wave optical calculations of this architecture implemented in a chip-scale platform using an SiO2 waveguide and demonstrate that it performs as well as a fully numerical implementation of reservoir computing. As all the optical components used in the experiment can be fabricated using a commercial photonic integrated circuit foundry, our result demonstrates a framework for building a scalable, chip-scale, reservoir computer capable of performing optical signal processing.

Study on the Reading of Energy-Harvested Implanted NFC Tags Using Mobile Phones

In this paper we study the read range of implanted sensors based on batteryless, Near-Field Communication (NFC) integrated circuits (IC) using an NFC-equipped smartphone as a reader. The most important challenges are the low coupling between loops of different sizes, the limited quality factor imposed by the bandwidth communication, the effects of the body on propagation, and the detuning of the antennas. Two systems are analyzed: a conventional system based on resonant coupling between two coils; and a system based on resonant coupling between three coils. With the latter, a relay antenna is attached to a patch, which is adhered to the skin. Simulations and measurements show that the quality factor of both antennas can be improved by including a spacer made of low-permittivity material. A circuit model is proposed for the implanted and relay antenna, which simplifies its usage in circuit simulators. Some implanted and relay antenna prototypes are analyzed and a system model that includes a nonlinear model of the tag is used to analyze the maximum depth at which the implant can be read. Our experimental results show that the system based on three coils performs much better performance at longer distances and is more robust to misalignments between coils. A 15×15 mm-implanted tag with commercial NFC IC and energy harvesting can be read using commercial smartphones. It can feed sensors at a distance of up to 16 mm inside the body and at a distance of 3 cm from the skin. Our results also show that data previously stored in the IC memory can be transferred to the reader located at distances of up to 2 cm and 3.8 cm for the 2-coil and 3-coil systems, respectively. This study demonstrates the potential of batteryless NFC sensors for biomedical and wearable applications using mobile phones as readers.

Design and Analysis of Low Power SRAM using CMOS Technology

The power consumption in commercial processors and application specific integrated circuits increases with decreasing technology nodes. Power saving techniques have become a first class design point for current and future VLSI systems. These systems employ large on-chip SRAM memories. Reducing memory leakage power while maintaining data integrity is a key criterion for modern day systems. Unfortunately, state of the art techniques like power-gating can only be applied to logic as these would destroy the contents of the memory if applied to a SRAM system. Fortunately, previous works have noted large temporal and spatial locality for data patterns in commerical processors as well as application specific ICs that work on images, audio and video data. This paper presents a novel column based Energy Compression technique that saves SRAM power by selectively turning off cells based on a data pattern. This technique is applied to study the power savings in application specific inegrated circuit SRAM memories and can also be applied for commercial processors. The paper also evaluates the effects of processing images before storage and data cluster patterns for optimizing power savings..

Motion Artifact Removal in Ambulatory ECG Signal for Heart Rate Variability Analysis

This work presents an efficient method for motion artifact removal from ambulatory electrocardiogram (ECG) signal for heart rate variability (HRV) in wearable/portable healthcare devices. HRV is the fluctuation in the time interval between the adjacent heartbeats. Motion artifacts affect HRV analysis by creating some outliers. A two-phase method using stationary wavelet transform with level thresholding (SWT-LT) is used to remove motion artifact from the ECG signal. Multi-channel system prototype is used for ambulatory ECG signal recording which is developed using commercial integrated circuit components. Motion artifact affected ECG signals are recorded by emulating daily activity movements. Recorded ECG database (60 signals) and Motion Artifact Contaminated ECG Database (27 signals) are used for validation of the proposed SWT-LT method. Implemented results show that the proposed SWT-LT method removes various in-band motion artifacts efficiently with an average correlation coefficient of 0.9337 and an average normalized mean square error of 0.012 which are better than the other reported methods. The proposed method has shown improvement in features of HRV analysis by removing outliers due to motion artifact from the ECG signal which is verified using MATLAB app HRVTool 1.03 developed by Marcus Vollmer.
