The challenge of adopting a collaborative information system for independent healthcare workers in France: a comprehensive study

This study aimed to explore the perception of an underutilised collaborative information system through qualitative research, utilizing semi-structured, in-depth interviews with independent midwives and physician. PROSPERO, is a collaborative information system designed to bridge the communication gap between community-based healthcare workers and hospital-based care teams for parturients in Lyon, France. Through 27 semi-structured in-depth interviews with midwives, obstetricians, and general practitioners, we identified key themes related to the system’s adoption: implementation challenges, utilisation barriers, interprofessional dynamics, and hidden variables affecting system use. Participants recognised the potential of PROSPERO to improve information sharing and care coordination but expressed concerns about the system’s integration into existing workflows, time constraints, and the need for adequate training and technical support. Interprofessional dynamics revealed differing perspectives between hospital and independent practitioners, emphasising the importance of trust-building and professional recognition. Hidden variables, such as hierarchical influences and confidentiality concerns, further complicated the system’s adoption. Despite the consensus on the benefits of a collaborative information system, its implementation was hindered by mistrust between healthcare workers (i.e. between independent practitioners and hospital staff). Our findings suggest that fostering trust and addressing the identified barriers are crucial steps towards successful system implementation. The study contributes to understanding the complex interplay of factors influencing the adoption of collaborative healthcare technologies and highlights the need for strategies that support effective interprofessional collaboration and communication.ClinicalTrials ID NCT02593292.

"Showing the Context": A Need for Oligopticonic Information Systems in Homelessness Measurement

Organizations like businesses, governments, and nonprofits often have established milestones to stay focused on their strategic goals. However, public and social sector organizations often have goals that are difficult to measure. To better understand how data can be more sensitively appropriated in difficult-to-measure contexts, we conducted design workshops with 25 individuals with a stake in how homelessness is measured - including funders, staff and people experiencing homelessness. This study provides a detailed account of how diverse stakeholders measure progress towards these often difficult and vague goals. We found that the approaches to data collection fall under either the sociocentric perspective (which seeks to answer questions about community-level impact) or the egocentric perspective (which focuses more on the experience of the individual experiencing homelessness). We argue that in contexts where goals are vague and difficult to observe or measure, collaborative information systems should be approached by combining the sociocentric and egocentric perspectives into an oligopticon, rather than focusing only on the sociocentric perspective (which can be understood as a panopticon). As we outline, oligopticonic information systems have the capacity to deal with more diverse types of data and experiences by embracing the requirements that we have outlined.

Web-Based Cooperation Information System at The Science Techno Park Technology Business Development Center

Science Techno Park (STP) Unand's partnership with various government, business, and legal institutions will continue for the foreseeable future in order to disseminate innovators' knowledge to the larger community. The issue that frequently arises is that the file search procedure is tough to locate. Furthermore, the enormous number of inventors at Andalas University are recorded in Microsoft Excel files, making it difficult for users to locate inventory data. The data that is then entered is frequently duplicated, leaving the user perplexed about the information presented. As a result, at STP Unand's Technology Business Development Center, a web-based cooperative information system was created. The goal is for STP Unand's engagement with partners to be automated, and for data collecting on the number of inventors in Unand to be structured. The SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) method is used in this study. SDLC is a software development cycle that encompasses software development techniques, phases, and tools. The waterfall paradigm was used in the design of this application. the waterfall method was successfully used to build or design a collaborative information system application. Based on the outcomes of each stage of the waterfall method, namely analysis, design, coding, and system testing, it is possible to conclude that the design of this collaborative information system application has been successfully built in accordance with needs.

How Human Resource and Information Systems Practices Amplify the Returns on Information Technology Investments

This study examines the important roles that human resources (HR) for information technology (IT) professionals and information systems (IS) practices for all workers in an organization play in shaping returns on firms’ IT investments. In particular, we consider how incentives, autonomy, and training for IT professionals can enable a firm to better leverage the value of its IT investments. We argue that well-trained, motivated, and empowered IT professionals can help firms make better strategic choices in allocating IT investments and implementing IT projects. We also demonstrate how this moderating relationship depends upon collaborative IS and autonomy-enhancing IS practices that affect other knowledge workers in the firm. We leverage archival data for 228 firms with 736 firm-year observations and document two key findings. We find (1) that empowering HR practices for IT professionals positively moderate the effect of IT investments on firm performance, and (2) that the alignment between empowering HR practices for IT professionals and firm-wide collaborative IS practices enhances the value that firms derive from IT investments. Our results suggest that the business value of IT investments is linked to the rewards and opportunities offered to IT professionals, who have a pivotal role in the effective deployment of IT in organizations.

Cluster-Based Classification of Blockchain Consensus Algorithms

In recent years, Blockchain has become a disruptivetechnology to protect the integrity of information, especially inopen and collaborative information systems. Its main advantageis the possibility to reach consensus on the new data blocks tobe added to the chain, even with anonymous actors. The mostcommon consensus mechanism is Proof of Work, but it has beenproven to be very inefficient in terms of energy spent by themembers of the blockchain. In the literature there are many othertechniques that pretend to become the new popular mechanism.However, the number of this techniques is growing too fast toreally be able to differentiate among all the options. In this work,a new characterization of consensus algorithm is proposed, thatcan be used to find families of mechanism using cluster-basedclassification. Using the Ward Method and Spearmans RankCorrelation analysis, new clusters of consensus mechanisms wereidentified. The results describe the behavioral patterns not seenbefore in the literature. In addition, some open problems ofcurrent consensus algorithms are discussed.

Optimization in collaborative information systems for an enhanced interoperability network

Today's constraints on collaborative enterprises are often directly reflected in the interoperability of their information systems. The goal is to improve and effectively evolve the global interoperability of collaboration by distributing the required effort in an optimal way on different information systems to achieve the target goal. This method of enhancement will be realized by applying an IMA (Interoperability Measurement Approach) to generate a ratio representing the degree of interoperability of an information system within the collaboration, as well as applying the heuristic optimization method PPSO (Paralleled Particle Swarm Optimization) to reach the optimal distribution of effort.

'Is the Time Right Now?'

Temporal coordination endures as a central topic in computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW) because information systems still struggle to adequately support varying representations of time in the context of collaborations that areboth temporally and geographically dispersed. Moreover, the adaptive practices of these broadly dispersed groups are still not well understood. We ask:How do globally distributed teams temporally coordinate to accomplish their work? We examine an extreme case of online temporal coordination: high-tempo information curation about the urgent humanitarian crisis following the 2017 Hurricane Maria landfall in Puerto Rico. Our analysis of synchronous chat transcripts and data artifacts produced by The Standby Task Force reveals how this digital humanitarian group establishes temporal coordination through different shared understandings of time relative to the crisis, the globally distributed work, and the collaborative information technologies. We make four contributions from our analysis: First, we developed a pluritemporal analytical framework that describes different forms of socially constructed time and disambiguates their meaning in talk. Next, we present empirical evidence of how this distributed team establishes shared temporal orders to collectively orient their work in time. Then, we describe how they reconcile multiple and conflicting instances of sociotemporal "disorder'' to enable productive work. Last, we reflect on the design implications for collaborative information systems informed by this work.

Joint flexibility problems and the impact of its operationalisation

BackgroundDissatisfaction is being voiced with the generally used way joint flexibility problems are defined (operationalised), i.e. as a range of motion (ROM) one or more degrees lower than normative ROM of healthy subjects. Other, specifically more function-related operationalisations have been proposed. The current study evaluated the effect of applying different operationalisations of joint flexibility problems on its prevalence. MethodROM data of 95 joints affected by burns of 23 children were used, and data on 18 functional activities (Burn Outcome Questionnaire (BOQ)). Five methods were used to operationalise joint flexibility problems: (1) ROM below normative ROM, (2) ROM below normative ROM minus 1SD, (3) ROM below normative ROM minus 2SD, (4) ROM below functional ROM, and (5) a score of 2 or more on the Likert Scale (BOQ). ResultsPrevalence of joint flexibility problems on a group level ranged from 13 to 100% depending on the operationalisation used. Per joint and movement direction, prevalence ranged from 40% to 100% (Method 1) and 0% to 80% (Methods 2–4). 18% of the children received ‘2’ on the Likert Scale (Method 5). ConclusionThe operationalisation of joint flexibility problems substantially influences prevalence, both on group and joint level. Changing to a function-related operationalisation seems valuable; however, international consensus is required regarding its adoption. Disciplinary, Asynthetic, Domain-Dependent: NARCIS a National Research Classification in Isolation

NARCIS, the National Academic Research and Collaborations Information System, is the national research portal of the Netherlands. NARCIS is governed by a knowledge organization system—a classification—by the same name. For a variety of reasons—a disciplinary base, a lack of synthesis, and domain-dependency—the NARCIS classification is highly compartmentalized and therefore inhospitable for interoperability. In addition, the classification has been revised repeatedly leading to the problems of scheme-versioning and subject ontogeny.

Trajectories for Research: Fathoming the Promise of the NARCIS Classification

NARCIS—National Academic Research and Collaborations Information System-- is the national research portal for the Netherlands’ data and research archiving, which is governed by its own NARCIS Classification. The current instantiation of the classification dates from 2015. The classification is currently made up of two classes—D for the sciences broadly, and E for interdisciplinary areas. The NARCIS Classification is designed specifically and with care for the contents of the NARCIS data portal. The classification mostly represents the sciences. A few anomalous situations are visible in the ontology of the classification: the humanities occupy one division within the sciences, placed between the life sciences and law; and, the treatment of interdisciplinarity, for which a separate class E is set aside for interdisciplinary sciences. A dump of the NARCIS database was used to analyze the population of the NARCIS classification. The life sciences occupy 34% of the NARCIS database. A framework for research networking systems reveals the NARCIS database and its classification most objectives, with the only lapse being the output of entities and attributes to ontologies. The NARCIS Classification is also an occupational classification. The NARCIS classification supports a vital research portal that, in turn, supports a nationally-coordinated research effort designed to provide better inter-institutional communication of scholarly productivity, thus is in itself an information institution, in which domain-dependence is part of its cultural imperative. The NARCIS Classification incorporates an example of top-down politics in which funded disciplines are included and best represented. A perhaps unintended consequence is the encapsulation of forced views. Trajectories for further discussion with regard to continued development of the NARCIS Classification include identity, interoperability, interdisciplinarity, and synthesis.

RETRACTED ARTICLE: Research on e-commerce integrated management information system of cross-border enterprises based on collaborative information middleware

With the rapid development of information technology, transnational electronic commerce will occupy a larger proportion in the field of export. However, domestic e-commerce is in the development stage, and the market is changing rapidly. In order to meet the needs of customers, enterprises will further study the design and implementation of integrated management information system. This paper studies the function of cross-border enterprise e-commerce integrated management information system based on collaborative information middleware, and then analyzes the design method and implementation. In this paper, according to the research results of collaborative information system (CIMS), we propose and implement a model of information system (B-CISOM) to support the effective e-business activities among enterprises based on the requirements and background of e-commerce activities between enterprises. The system operators of cross-border e-commerce enterprises should fully grasp the function and performance of each module, improve the working efficiency of employees in essence, and strengthen the application of the system in the operation of enterprises. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method of integrated management information system for cross-border enterprises based on collaborative information middleware.

Physical activity and sedentary behavior following pediatric burns \u2013 a preliminary investigation using objective activity monitoring

BackgroundAdequate levels of regular physical activity (PA) are crucial for health and well-being. Pediatric burn injuries can have major physiological consequences in both the short and long term. The question is whether these consequences affect post burn PA levels. This study therefore aimed to describe PA and sedentary behavior (SB) in children and adolescents 1–5 years after burn injury.MethodsDaily PA and SB were monitored in 20 children and adolescents (12 boys and 8 girls, aged 6–17 years, with burns covering 10–37% of total body surface area, 1–5 years post burn) for 1 week using the ActiGraph GTX3+ accelerometer. Activity counts were categorized into SB, light PA, moderate PA, vigorous PA, moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA), and total PA. Outcomes were compared with non-burned reference values and PA levels recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).ResultsThe participants spent about 5.1 h per day on total PA and 7.4 h on SB. Most of the active time (~ 83%) was categorized as light PA. Thirty-five percent of the group, especially the young boys, spent on average ≥ 60 min on MVPA per day. The boys, although with large interindividual differences, spent more time on MVPA than the girls (p < .005). Older age was associated with less PA time, while more time was spent sedentary. No trends were found indicating an effect of burn characteristics, time post burn, or length of hospital stay, and no differences were found with non-burned peers.ConclusionDuration and intensity of PA and SB in children and adolescents 1–5 years after burn injury were similar to non-burned peers. However, only 35% of the group met the WHO physical activity recommendation. Given the increased long term risk for physical conditions following pediatric burns, physical activity should be encouraged in this vulnerable population.Trial registrationThe study is registered in the National Academic Research and Collaborations Information System of the Netherlands (OND1348800).

A Special Collaborative Information System and Its Application in Kinetic Energy Impact

Although the benefits of the non-lethal kinetic energy projectiles are numerous, there is a need to assess the projectiles to assure their expected functions. In order to overcome the limitations of current research, a special collaborative information system based on Hybrid III 50th percentile male dummy (hybrid III dummy) was developed and validated to assess and predict the risk of non-lethal kinetic energy impact. Two types of non-lethal kinetic energy projectiles were used to attack the thorax region of the dummy surrogate at six levels of distance. Not only the sensors inside the dummy as a mechanics information system recorded all the kinetic energy impact measures accurately and effectively, but also other systems like acquiring and processing information system including hardware and software played their roles respectively. The acceleration response, displacement response showed consistent patterns with the kinetic energy measures. The results showed that the measurement from the special system was reliable for non-lethal kinetic energy projectiles. The maxima of displacement, viscous criterion (VC) and kinetic energy were both lower than correlative injury thresholds. Current study provided an alternative method to assess the performance of the non-lethal kinetic energy projectiles.

Indoor Localization Using the Reference Tags and Phase of Passive UHF-RFID Tags

In recent years, indoor position has been an important role in many applications, such as production management, store management and shelves in supermarket or library. Much time and energy are exhausted because one object cannot be quickly and accurately located. Traditional indoor position systems have some problems, such as complicated software and hardware system, inaccurate position and high time complexity. In this paper, the authors propose an RFID-based collaborative information system, Tagrom, for indoor localization using COTS RFID readers and tags. Unlike former methods, Tagrom works with reference tags and phase of Passive UHF-RFID tags, which improves traditional distribution of reference tags and utilize RF phase replace of traditional RSSI or multipath profile to determine the position of target RFID tags.

An Agent-Aware Computing Based Mixed Reality Information System

In this paper, we present an agent- aware computing based collaborative information sys- tem scheme for MR applications. The HCI issues in VR, AR, and MR, have been discussed firstly. Besides the equipment, the lack of understanding of users also ac- counts for a significant bottleneck of improving user ex- perience and immersion during the interaction. Aiming at the issues, an agent-aware computing based scheme is proposed and implemented. The corresponding sys- tematic scheme is presented in the views of functional- ity, modules and system workflow and discussed in de- sign, implementation, and system synthesis. By means of the human-aware computing, system-aware comput- ing and human-system aware computing, issues such as mixed reality fusion, QoE-QoS management, confiden- tiality, and security, are addressed by the applying agent- aware computing based scheme into an implementation of the collaborative information system for mixed real- ity. Related modules along with their function and test results are given and discussed.

A Conceptual Model for User-System Collaboration: Enhancing Usability of Complex Information Systems

A variety of organizations around the world use complex information systems (e.g., enterprise resource planning and supply chain management systems). However, poor usability caused by system complexity continues to frustrate users and damage the reputation of these systems. In this study, we address usability issues with complex information systems from the human-computer collaboration perspective by modeling user-system interaction as a joint activity between the system and its users. We propose a conceptual model for user-system collaboration, elaborate on the components in the model and the relationships between the components, derive the required capabilities for collaborative information systems, and establish conceptual relationships between system collaborative behaviors and usability. We use empirical evidence gathered from a qualitative field study on ERP systems to illustrate the model and the possible impact of system collaborativeness (i.e., the presence or absence of collaborative capabilities) on usability. We do so to provide a strong conceptual foundation for modeling user-system collaboration and to encourage designers to employ the collaboration metaphor during system design and, thus, help them develop future complex information systems with better usability.

User-centred Design of Health Information Technology

Introduction: This research study was carried out to explore the approach of user-centred design, with focus on end-user involvement in the development of health information technology. Two development projects were included: the EU-project United4Health and eHealth-extended Care Coordination, a regional project in Southern Norway. In United4Health, a collaborative telemedicine system for remote monitoring of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients was iteratively developed. In eHealth-extended Care Coordination, the information flow within inter-municipal health teams was adressed and a collaborative information system facilitating coordination between the municipalities was developed. In both projects, end-users were involved from early project idea until final deployment as active contributors in the user-centred design process. Methods: From spring 2013 until summer 2015, 35 participants (health care professionals, patient union members and technicians) participated in workshops, seminars and user evaluations as a part of a user-centred design process. A mixed methods research approach including observations, semi-structured interviews and questionnaire was used for data collection [1]. The data analysis was based on a qualitative content analysis [2] from a human-computer interaction perspective. Results: The user workshops contributed to outlining the context of use and establishing user needs. The workshops were the key to elicit users’ requirements for the technology development, taking on board different aspects of user interface, interaction and functionalities. The next step in the user-centred design process was user evaluations including pre-test interview, task-based user test (both in the field and usability laboratory), System Usability Scale questionnaire [3] and post-test group interview. As a final step, a field trial was run with the active participation of voluntary patients and health care professionals. The field trial allowed studying the long-term and real-time usage of the technology. The results showed that all types of data collected were of high importance for the iterative development and an important step in the user-centred design process of both projects. Discussion and conclusion: This research study contributes to the knowledge of user-centred design in several ways. Firstly, it provides an understanding on how to actively and efficiently involve users in design and development of health information technology by conducting empirical research. Secondly, it contributes to the knowledge on how to run user evaluations in usability laboratory settings, health care environment and patients’ homes. Thirdly, it provides recommendations for how user-centred design can contribute to the ease-of-use and user satisfaction for the end-users of health information technology.

Collaborative Information Research on Fresh Production under Supply Chain Environment

Through the analysis of collaborative development process of supply chain and information system, this dissertation analyses how to achieve the collaboration between fresh supply chain and efficient information system. Meanwhile, it puts forward the concept of collaborative management information system of supply chain. The paper introduces the construction scheme of the collaborative agricultural supply chain management information system. In the end, the paper makes five reasonable suggestions about material procurement, transportation, warehousing, and distribution and information system construction, which with respect to integrated supply information, supplier management and produce-marketing integration.

Assessment of insider attack with learning statistics methods

The popularity of mobile devices, wearable devices used in collaborative information systems, has dramatically exploded over the past decade. Thus, we understand that in ordinary office, a single person can use plenty of active interfaces like wireless data transfer interfaces, which can help, among direct usage, strengthen access control and information security subsystem. Despite the fact that enterprises quite rightly develop controls and prevention techniques to combat cyberattacks, threats from users within the corporate network pose a significant risk to information assets. Existing users with accounts, permissions and access required to perform their jobs are increasingly becoming a major risk to information security through account misuse, data loss and fraudulent activities. This article reviews the definition of an insider threat and its impact, and provides an overview of the techniques to control and remediate these threats.Keywords: insider threat, integrity, BYOD, vulnerability.
