Analisis Biaya Pengurasan Sedimentasi pada Kolam Pengendap Lumpur di PT Bukit Asam Tbk Unit Pertambangan Tanjung Enim Sumatera Selatan

PT Bukit Asam is one of the companies engaged in the coal mining sector which is located in Tanjung Enim, South Sematra. The mining system applied in exploiting coal is open pit mining which produces water called acid mine water (AAT), one of the components of the AAT problem. namely total suspended solid (TSS). At PT Bukit Asam, Bangko Barat, there are several KPLs that are still in use. KPLs that are continuously supplied with mining water certainly produce a negative impact, namely silting. The aim of this research is to analyze the cost of dewatering sedimentation in mud settling ponds. The method used in this research is to use field visits and direct observations. The shallowing itself is caused by rain factors and the long deposition time. To prevent silting, draining is carried out using an excavator and loading of the material using a dump truck. Draining activities in February amounted to IDR 185,634,400.00 handling the mud settling ponds also using chemicals or control methods which are useful for settling mud particles so that the draining process at the KPL runs quickly.

Industrial, managemental, and company-size determinants of tax avoidance in the coal mining sector

This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of institutional ownership, independent managerial ownership and company size on tax avoidance in coal sub-sector mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2017-2022. This study uses quantitative descriptives. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with a total sample obtained of 8 companies within 6 years so that 48 samples were obtained after the criteria data were taken. The analysis used is panel data analysis using Eviews 9 software. The results of the analysis test state that the variables of institutional ownership, independent managerial ownership, and company size have an influence on tax avoidance simultaneously. Partial testing states that the variables of institutional ownership and independent managerial ownership do not have a positive effect on tax avoidance, while company size affects tax avoidance

Legal Review of Procedures for Granting Rock Mining Business Permits

This research is motivated by the granting of mining permits originally granted by the Central Government, with the issuance of Presidential Decree Number 55 of 2022 concerning the Delegation of Granting of Business Licensing in the Mineral and Coal Mining Sector, some mining permits are granted by the Central Government to the Provincial Government, but only limited to the granting of Mining Business Permits (IUP) for non-metallic mineral groups, certain types of non-metallic minerals, and rocks. The legal research method used in this research is normative juridical research which is research that is carried out or aimed only at written regulations with a descriptive analytical research nature which is a method that functions to describe or provide an overview of the object being studied. The data source used is secondary data with quantitative data analysis. The results of this study are: The Procedure for Rock Mining Business Permits is carried out by means of an application to the regent or mayor if the mining area is in a district or city, to the governor if the mining area is across district or city borders, to the minister if the mining area is in a cross-provincial border area. The procedures carried out in the procedures for rock mining permits are the determination of the mining area carried out by authorized officials, determination of mining business areas, mining business permits, regulation of mining permits if there is a violation of mining permits. Supervision of Rock Mining Activities After Obtaining a Business Permit in the Mining Sector, it is carried out by the ESDM Service where the mining permit is located. Settlement of Rock Mining Permit Disputes can be carried out through a non-adjudication process.

The Effect of Market Structure on Sales of Coal Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the Period 2018 - 2022

The limited product diversification of the Indonesian coal mining industry underscores the imperative for the formulation of strategic business plans to navigate the intensifying market competition. This study aims to examine the market structure, the factors influencing sales, and the impact of market structure on the sales performance of coal mining companies in Indonesia. This study employs a quantitative method and utilizes a range of analytical techniques, including CR4, HHI, MES, CLR, PCM, and multiple linear regression. The CR4 and HHI analysis revealed that the market structure of coal mining companies in Indonesia is classified as a highly concentrated tight oligopoly. The MES analysis yielded the conclusion that new companies in the sector face significant barriers to market entry. The findings of the CLR analysis, which indicates that the coal mining sector is a capital-intensive industry, suggest that equity and capital factors are the primary contributors to the challenges faced by new companies attempting to enter the market. The results of the multiple linear regression analysis indicate that equity factors and production volume have a positive and significant effect on company sales. This finding is corroborated by the PCM analysis, which suggests that companies with low market share tend to set higher margins to obtain greater profits. Increasing investment levels may serve as a viable business strategy, particularly when supported by government policies aimed at fostering a secure and stable investment environment to enhance company equity and capital.

A Critical Review on Static and Dynamic Performance of Coal Mine Overburden Dump Slopes: Present Status and Way Forward

ABSTRACT In the last two decades, opencast coal mining has dominated the coal mining sector of India in comparison to the underground mining. This has caused an increase in large quantity of overburden (OB) waste material which is generally dumped in the form of slope commonly known as OB dump slope. The highly heterogeneous OB dump materials are generally dumped in the loose state implying that the OB dump slopes are highly vulnerable to failure. Therefore, proper functioning of the mining activities requires stable OB dump slopes. This paper briefly provides an overview on the formation of OB dump slopes and some catastrophic failures highlighting the importance of proper and adequate analyses. Next, the major factors affecting the OB dump stability are discussed elaborately with respect to the performance of the slopes under static and dynamic loading. Finally, various approaches available for the assessment of their stability are collated and discussed. The important aspect of consideration of heterogeneity on the performance of slope is highlighted and the need of detailed future research is envisaged.

Preventing Practices of Manipulating Accident Data in the Coal Mining Sector Using Mobile Applications in East Kalimantan, Indonesia

Objective: The practice of manipulating data on work accidents and potential hazards still occurs, especially in the coal mining sector. A mobile application for reporting work accidents and potential hazards is required so that data manipulation practices can be prevented.Material and Methods: The research design used was exploratory, which aimed to introduce and explore the capabilities of the SIKAP mobile application (Information System for Occupational Accidents, Occupational Diseases and Potential Hazards) to prevent data manipulation practices. Researchers involved thirty coal mine workers, using the SIKAP application, which had been tested on three information systems experts using the black box testing method. Results: Every worker had the opportunity to report work accidents and potential dangers via the SIKAP application on the worker’s account. Companies can receive and follow up on worker reports via the company account. Regional governments in the field of labor development and inspection can monitor reports through government accounts. The SIKAP application is integrated and synchronized between workers, companies and the government.Conclusion: The SIKAP application is able to prevent the practice of manipulating work accident reporting data and potential hazards in the coal mining sector.

Green Transformation of Mining towards Energy Self-Sufficiency in a Circular Economy—A Case Study

This article presents the concept of green transformation of the coal mining sector. Pump stations that belong to Spółka Restrukturyzacji Kopalń S.A. (SRK S.A., Bytom, Poland) pump out approximately 100 million m3 of mine water annually. These pump stations protect neighboring mines and lower-lying areas from flooding and protect subsurface aquifers from contamination. The largest cost component of maintaining a pumping station is the expenditure for purchasing electricity. Investment towards renewable energy sources will reduce the environmental footprint of pumping station operation by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The concept of liquidation of an exemplary mining site in the context of a circular economy by proposing the development/revitalization of a coal mine site is presented. This concept involves the construction of a complex consisting of photovoltaic farms combined with efficient energy storage in the form of green hydrogen produced by water electrolysis. For this purpose, the potential of liquidated mining sites will be utilized, including the use of pumped mine wastewater. This article is conceptual. In order to reach the stated objective, a body of literature and legal regulations was analyzed, and an empirical study was conducted. Various scenarios for the operation of mine pumping stations have been proposed. The options presented provide full or nearly full energy self-sufficiency of the proposed pumping station operation concept. The effect of applying any option for upgrading the pumping station could result in the creation of jobs that are alternatives to mining jobs and a guarantee of efficient asset management.

Classification of coal bursting liability of some chinese coals using machine learning methods

The classification of coal bursting liability (CBL) is essential for the mitigation and management of coal bursts in mining operations. This study establishes an index system for CBL classification, incorporating dynamic fracture duration (DT), elastic strain energy index (WET), bursting energy index (KE), and uniaxial compressive strength (RC). Utilizing a dataset comprising 127 CBL measurement groups, the impacts of various optimization algorithms were assessed, and two prominent machine learning techniques, namely the back propagation neural network (BPNN) and the support vector machine (SVM), were employed to develop twelve distinct models. The models’ efficacy was evaluated based on accuracy, F1-score, Kappa coefficient, and sensitivity analysis. Among these, the Levenberg–Marquardt back propagation neural network (LM-BPNN) model was identified as superior, achieving an accuracy of 96.85%, F1-score of 0.9113, and Kappa coefficient of 0.9417. Further validation in Wudong Coal Mine and Yvwu Coal Industry confirmed the model, achieving 100% accuracy. These findings underscore the LM-BPNN model’s potential as a viable tool for enhancing coal burst prevention strategies in coal mining sectors.

Fuzzy PID Control Design of Mining Electric Locomotive Based on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Achieving precise stopping of electric locomotives is crucial for the realization of intelligent and unmanned auxiliary transportation systems. Presently, human drivers play a central role in ensuring accurate stopping, presenting obstacles to automation and cargo location precision, especially within the coal mining sector. This article centers on achieving the precise stopping of electric locomotives under various conditions through the utilization of permanent magnet synchronous motor-driven locomotives. This approach introduces a novel stopping control method that integrates a fuzzy proportional–integral–derivative (F-PID) controller with a vector control model for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM). Subsequently, we develop the F-PID controller using the PMSM technique, incorporating new fuzzy rules for each subsystem to enhance control accuracy and efficiency. Finally, extensive simulations and real-world experiments are conducted on an electric locomotive stopping test bed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control method. The results show that the method consistently achieves precise stopping under diverse working conditions, with an error of less than 0.3 m, confirming its robustness and reliability.

By continuously tracking critical parameters such as temperature, humidity, gas concentration, and miners' heart rates, potential hazards are swiftly identified, allowing for proactive interventions. Utilizing cloud- based platform, data collected from sensors is seamlessly transmitted and analysed in real-time, enabling immediate responses to mitigate risks and ensure miners' safety. This initiative represents a significant advancement in safety protocols, not only minimizing the risk of accidents but also enhancing operational efficiency and productivity within coal mines. By providing a comprehensive framework for safety enhancement, this project sets a new standard for the industry, prioritizing the well-being of miners while contributing to overall sustainability and success in the coal mining sector.

Economic Implications of the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) of Vietnam: A CGE Analysis with Capital-Energy Substitution Elasticities Estimated Using Firm-level Data

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to assess the economic implications of Vietnamese Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets towards emission reduction. Design/Methodology/Approach - We devised four scenarios corresponding to economy-wide emission reduction targets and sector targets specified in the most up to date NDC of Vietnam and the NDC technical report. The scenarios were then simulated in a CGE framework to reveal how important economic indicators and welfare change relative to baseline scenarios in 2030. The capital-energy substitution elasticities of 24 Vietnamese sectors were also estimated using a nested CES production function and used for model calibration. Findings - The results indicate that the coal mining sector undergoes a significant decline in output in response to the imposition of emission reduction schemes. Outputs of sectors with high capital-energy substitution elasticities such as non-metallic mineral, metal, and agriculture are more resilient to mild restriction policies compared with sectors with low elasticities. Imposing a moderate economy-wide restriction might lead to slight improvements in GDP and welfare. Under aggressive emission policies, the CGE model predicts major trade shifts in key export sectors, including electronics, electrical equipment, and machinery, and losses in allocative efficiency due to reduced input tax revenue. Research Implications - We recommend excluding the coal mining sector from NDC, providing short-term tax cuts or cost subsidies for exporting industries under aggressive sector-specific emission policies, and imposing a carbon tax on sectors insensitive to emission restrictions to offset the loss in tax revenue.

Deconstructing the applications of CSR policies in Indian coal mining sector

PurposeThis study aims to comprehensively analyse the implementation and effectiveness of corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies within the context of the Indian coal mining sector. Furthermore, it investigates the alignment between CSR initiatives and the unique challenges faced by the coal mining sector and examines the outcomes and impacts of these initiatives on the employees of the sector and their perspective on the situation.Design/methodology/approachThis study adopts a comprehensive qualitative research method, including a review of the literature, case studies and stakeholder interviews. This study seeks to deconstruct the application of CSR policies.FindingsThe analysis developed a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding CSR policies in the Indian coal mining sector, offering insights into strategies for enhancing the effectiveness and relevance of these initiatives while fostering sustainable development.Practical implicationsThis study reveals a rich tapestry of theoretical implications and how they connect to important organisational and societal paradigms. The results of this qualitative analysis can work as a foundation for creating scales to measure the level of efficiency of CSR policies implemented by different companies. Furthermore, this study goes beyond theoretical knowledge and gives companies, regulators and communities information they can use. By looking at how CSR policies work in the real world, a road map for responsible resource extraction and community growth can be made.Originality/valueThe findings are unique in exploring the CSR initiatives and the unique challenges faced by the coal mining sector. This study offers insight on the employees of the sector and their perspectives on the situation and delves into the multifaceted dimensions of CSR practices.

Driving Towards Digitalization and Industry 4.0 in the Coal Mining Sector

This research provides an in-depth analysis of the impact of digitalization on the coal mining sector, with a special focus on PT X. The study employs a combination of content analysis, narrative analysis, and business solution mapping to extract insights from interviews conducted with five key stakeholders at PT. X. The objective is to assess how technological advancements can elevate operational efficiency and competitiveness in the era of Industry 4.0, and to identify strategies for effectively reducing reliance on human resources in site monitoring, while ensuring employee satisfaction and smooth transition. Through the methodological triangulation of content and narrative analysis, the study distils crucial themes and perspectives from the interviews. It identifies that the integration of advanced technologies like IoT, data analytics, and automation is vital for enhancing operational efficiency and reducing operational downtime. The research highlights the importance of transitioning from manual to automated site monitoring, emphasizing the adoption of drones and automated systems to bolster operational accuracy and efficiency. A key finding of the study is the identification of potential obstacles in digital technology investment, such as cost, system integration challenges, and employee resistance to new technologies. The study suggests that overcoming these barriers requires effective communication strategies and comprehensive training programs for employees. Drawing on the successful digital transformation strategies of companies like Adaro, the research recommends that PT. X should adapt similar strategies, customized to its unique challenges and context. The study contributes valuable insights into the digital transformation process in the coal mining sector, offering practical recommendations for companies like PT. X navigating the complex landscape of Industry 4.0.

Enhancing Community Participation in Corporate Social Responsibility Activities at PT. Prima Bara Nusantara through Improved Decision-Making Process

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is crucial for companies that have a substantial ecological footprint, such as coal mining in Indonesia. PT. PBN strives to achieve a harmonious combination of responsible behaviors and economic viability. However, attaining this equilibrium necessitates strong community engagement to alleviate negative effects and provide beneficial contributions at the local level. This study focuses on the underexplored issue of poor community participation in CSR initiatives within Indonesia’s coal mining sector. Although PT. PBN has made substantial investments in environmental and community activities, recent evaluations indicate a substantial disparity between stakeholder expectations and the level of actual participation in activities. Gaining insight into the factors contributing to this disparity is vital for the effectiveness of CSR endeavors, as the support of stakeholders and active involvement of the community are crucial for ensuring social sustainability and enduring stability. The study utilizes analyzed data from interviews conducted with both internal and external respondents. It uses problem tree analysis in order to uncover the root causes of low community participation. Focus group discussions are used to delve deeper into the objectives of Value-focused Thinking (VFT) and help determine which alternative solutions should be chosen. The integration of VFT with Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) aids decision-making by recognizing the criteria and sub-criteria used to evaluate solutions based on their values. The findings emphasize identifying skill gaps and providing formal acknowledgment to improve the sense of responsibility and involvement of the community in CSR initiatives. This is in line with PT. PBN’s commitment to its stakeholders and the sustainable development of the community in the long run. In the end, decision-makers give the utmost significance to the strategy of licensing and training, considering its long-term impact, effectiveness, resource availability, and ease of control.

Review of Research on the Impact of Changes Resulting from the Hard Coal Mining Sector in Poland on the GDP Value

Energy transition is one of the main objectives of the European Union. Significant changes will mainly affect countries in which significant modifications will have to be made to their energy sources. The process will involve high investment in infrastructure and additional costs of the transformation, such as reduced production (which may affect the GDP value) in the economic sectors involved in the process. The aim of this article is to provide the energy transition community, namely the national economy in general and those involved in planning for structural change in particular, with the key lessons and challenges in researching the impact of production changes in the mining sector. This article also shows the relevance of the mining sector in the economy. Within this area, particular attention is given to the following issues: the impact of economic sectors on the country’s GDP (gross domestic product); the identification of key sectors of the economy using the input–output method; the contribution of coal mining and the mining industry to Poland’s GDP; an analysis of changes in the structure of Poland’s economy using the input–output method; and the use of the input–output method in the context of changing/reducing the supply of economic sectors.

Examining the integration of women's issues in the corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy of Coal India Limited

This paper examines efforts to integrate women's concerns into Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes and policies in India's coal mining sector. This is achieved by taking into consideration the subsidiaries of the largest coal producing company in the country: Coal India Limited. The study finds that, in relation to the various categories that fall under CSR, expenditure on, as well as the nature and number of projects related to, women's welfare is underwhelming. In light of this, the management of Coal India Limited's subsidiaries are urged to prioritise the launching of CSR projects that address women's needs, and which broadly, focus on gender equality and empowerment.

Low Grade Coal Quality With Up Graded Brown Coal Technology

The aim of this research is to increase the calorific value of coal. In this way, coal which has a calorific value of 3500 kCal/kg can be increased to 6500-7000 kCal/kg. Apart from that, by carrying out this up grading, a number of volatile meters will disappear as a result of the heating and pressure process. The knock-on impact is an increase in the economic value of coal and thus the selling price will be more competitive. After the data was collected, the data was analyzed using descriptive methods. The descriptive method is used to describe the upgraded brown coal (UBC) process. Findings that can be obtained in this research include: 1) Potential company profits can be increased, 2) Increased local government income through taxes, 3) Many mining areas can be exploited, 4) Reduction of unemployment by expanding employment opportunities in the mining sector, 5) Reducing environmental damage by mining power by mining wisely. 6) Reducing environmental pollution due to the combustion process. 7) With this process, investment in the coal mining sector can be increased. This research concludes that the economic value of low quality coal will increase and the profits that can be obtained will be better.

Perceived working conditions and employee performance in the coal mining sector of China: a job demands-resources perspective

Purpose This paper aims to investigate how perceived working conditions affect employee performance, including safety compliance and task performance, through employee well-being (i.e. job satisfaction) in the context of the coal mining sector in China. Design/methodology/approach This paper uses the job demands-resources model to test the relationships between working conditions, including job demands (work pressure as a challenge demand and perceived risks and hazards in the workplace and ineffectiveness of the safety system as hindrance demands), job resources (interpersonal harmony), job satisfaction and performance. This study adopts a two-wave design with a three-month lag to reduce possible common method bias. Findings Employees who experienced high level of challenge demands, e.g. time pressure workload, reported higher levels of task performance, and this positive relationship seemed to be robust. There is a direct effect of perceived ineffectiveness of the safety system on task performance, while the relationship between perceived risks and hazards and task performance was fully mediated by job satisfaction. Challenge demands, i.e. work pressure, did not impact much on employees’ well-being, and thus job satisfaction did not mediate the relationship between work pressure and performance. Perceived ineffectiveness of the safety system was negatively associated with safety compliance. This result is not surprising since a lack of effective safety system reflects management’s ignorance of workplace safety, which demotivates employees to enact safe behaviors. In contrast, the presence and implementation of an effective safety system would be interpreted by employees as management exhibiting a high level of commitment. Work pressure was positively not negatively related to safety compliance. One possible explanation for this finding is that the effects of work pressure on safety compliance behaviors might be dependent on contextual factors such as safety climate. Interpersonal harmony moderated the relationships between work pressure and employee performance (both safety compliance and task performance) and the relationship between perceived risks and hazards and task performance, but the role of interpersonal harmony appeared more complex. There was no significant correlation between challenging job demands and individual employee performance when there were higher levels of interpersonal harmony. The relationship between perceived risks and hazards, a hindrance job demand and task performance became positive as interpersonal harmony increased but negative as interpersonal harmony decreased. Originality/value This paper provides a robust integrative theoretical framework that better explains the various types of job demands and job resources in the working environment of coal mining sector in China and their relationships to employee performance. The findings also offer valuable guidance for managers trying to identify effective ways to enhance employee performance and safety in the workplace.

PENGARUH INFLASI, SUKU BUNGA, ROA DAN EPS TERHADAP RETURN SAHAM PERUSAHAAN SUB SEKTOR BATU BARA

Investment is an activity to invest directly or indirectly with the aim of obtaining a return. One form of indirect investment that is popular and in great demand by investors today is stocks. The level of return obtained by investors is not fixed and can change at any time. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of inflation, interest rates, ROA and EPS on stock returns. This research was conducted using the object of research, namely the coal sub-sector mining sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the 2016-2020 period. This study uses secondary data from the company's financial statements as well as the official website of Bank Indonesia and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression. The results show that (1) inflation has no effect on stock returns, (2) interest rates have a negative effect on stock returns, (3) ROA has a positive effect on stock returns, and (4) EPS has a positive effect on stock returns.

Dampak UU Harmonisasi Peraturan Perpajakan Terkait Perlakuan PPN Perusahaan Pertambangan

Regulations regarding Value Added Tax (VAT) have undergone changes with the enactment of Law No. 7 of 2021 on Tax Regulation Harmonization. One of the changes in the Tax Regulation Harmonization Law is the change of coal from non-taxable goods to taxable goods. This change will have an impact on the additional reporting obligations and the burden of collecting VAT on coal companies. In terms of input tax credit, companies can choose either to be credited to reduce output tax or to be charged, thus reducing the company's profits. PT XYZ is a private company engaged in the coal mining sector. The data used in this study are primary data in the form of interview results and secondary data in the form of documentation related to the imposition of coal as a taxable good. This study provides an overview that changes in the treatment of coal from non-taxable goods to taxable goods have an impact on the company's financial performance. With the inclusion of coal as taxable goods, companies must adjust their tax management whether to credit input tax or finance their input tax.
