Growing up in a minister’s home yields unique challenges with regard to behavior, friendships, and expectations. Congregations did and still do view pastors as “different,” set apart. For those women married to a pastor who is involved in sexual acting out in a compulsive manner, issues of isolation, support, and confidentiality are very real. Disclosure within the faith community strikes at the very core of their identity and the cost they may personally experience for their husband’s choices is great. This article has a dual purpose: To examine the results of the survey taken of this population, and to provide the reader descriptions of what wives desire for others to understand about their personal experience.
