Implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model on Renewable Energy Materials to Improve Students’ Critical Thinking Skills

Abstract This study aims to improve students’ critical thinking skills on renewable energy related material in class XI through the application of problem-based learning model. This study is a classroom action research consisting of two cycles with four stages of each cycle: planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting, conducted in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 school year. The benefits of this research are to improve the learning quality in the classroom and to train students’ critical thinking skills. The subjects in this study were 36 students of class XI-2 public high-school 109 Jakarta. Based on the results of tests, interviews, and observations, when applying the Problem Based Learning model in cycle I: 27 students (75%) were able to think critically and 9 students (25%) were less able to think critically with a class average score of final test 76.41. In cycle II: 34 students (94%) were able to think critically and 2 students (6%) were less able to think critically with a class average score on the final test of 81.82. The conclusion of this study showed that applying a problem-based learning model to renewable energy materials can improve students’ critical thinking skills.

Development of the UNOChem Game to Improve Students Critical Thinking Skills on Factors that Affect the Reaction Rate Topic

The UNOChem game is a development of the UNO Stacko game that has been modified and designed with chemistry materials. This research aims to develop UNOChem games to improve students' critical thinking skills on the material factors that affect the appropriate reaction rate. The feasibility of the UNOChem game is seen in its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research refers to 4D design with three stages: define, design, and development. The limited trial was carried out in class XI-2 of SMAN 1 Kedamean. The indicators used in this study are interpretation, analysis, and inference. The validity was obtained from the results of the game assessment by two chemistry lecturers and one chemistry teacher. Practicality was obtained from observation of student activities and a questionnaire of student responses after using the UNOChem game. Effectiveness was obtained from the student's critical thinking skills test results. The study results showed that the validity obtained in each aspect of the obtaining mode was ≥ 4. The practicality of the UNOChem game based on the results of observation of students' activities as a whole got a practicality percentage of 87.4%. Meanwhile, based on the student response questionnaire, in the aspect of describing the level of students' interest in the UNOChem game, the percentage of practicality was 100%; in the aspect of describing the level of ease of understanding the material and doing critical thinking problems in understanding the material, the percentage of practicality was 93.3%. In describing the ease of using the game in the game, the rate of practicality was 94.9%. The game's effectiveness was obtained through an n-gain test with a score of 0.72. The effectiveness of the media is supported by the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test (a non-parametric test), which shows a Sig. A value of 0.000 means there is a significant difference, and the UNOChem game can be declared effective. Based on the research results, the UNOChem game is suitable for learning material activities related to factors that affect the reaction rate of class XI high school.

Science Literacy Support for Improving Students Argumentation Skills

This study explores the impact of science literacy on improving students' argumentation skills at SMA Negeri 21 Surabaya during the 2023/2024 academic year, within the context of the "Merdeka Belajar" initiative and 21st-century competencies. This quantitative correlational research involved 60 students from classes XI-2 and XI-10, selected using purposive sampling techniques. Based on Toulmin's argument model and the PISA science literacy framework, data was collected through science literacy tests and argumentation skill assessments. Data analysis using Minitab 18 revealed a significant positive correlation between science literacy and argumentation skills, with p < 0.05 and correlation coefficients of 0.710 for class XI-2 and 0.926 for class XI-10. These findings support the hypothesis that enhancing science literacy can improve students' argumentation skills. This study highlights the importance of integrating argumentation skills into science education to enhance science literacy and recommends developing a curriculum that supports argumentation practices to improve students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING GIST STRATEGY TOWARD STUDENTS' READING COMPREHENSION

In reading activities, one of the abilities that must be mastered by students is reading comprehension in English. This research is motivated by the students' weak understanding of a reading text and the learning process still uses strategies that are less innovative and tend to be boring. Therefore, the researcher used the GIST (Generating Interaction between Schemata and Text) strategy to help improve students' reading comprehension through explanation text media. The aim of this study was to determine whether there was an improvement in students' reading comprehension after using the GIST strategy. The population of this study is eleventh grade students at Senior High School in Gresik while the sample from MAN 2 in Gresik which involved 36 students in class XI-2. This study used quantitative method with one group pretest-posttest design. Data collection used pre-test and post-test research instruments, then the data were analyzed using Paired T-test. The results of the study showed that the use of GIST strategy in the explanation text effectively helped students in understanding the reading well, it can be seen from the results of the mean pretest and posttest scores which increased significantly.

The practicality of E-Modules based on Problem-Based Learning (Pbl) on the human respiratory system in class Xi (Senior High School 1 Tilango)

This research aims to describe the practicality of E-Modules based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) on human respiratory system material. This research includes quantitative descriptive research. The test subjects in this research involved 18 class XI students at Senior High School 1 Tilango for the 2023/2024 academic year. The E-Module used has been declared valid by 3 validators, content validation with a very valid category in the score range of 81-100%, construct validation with a valid category in the score range of 61-80%, teacher validation with a very valid category in the score range of 81-80%. 100%. Furthermore, to measure the practicality of the E-Module, instruments for implementing teacher activities, student activities, and student responses are used. The results of the research show that the implementation of learning is in the very good category in the score range of 81-100%. Student activities in the good category are in the score range of 61-80%, and student responses in the very decent category are in the score range of 81-100%. Thus, the E-Module based on problem-based learning (PBL) on the human respiratory system can be applied in learning at Senior High School 1 Tilango.

Penerapan PjBL pada Pembelajaran Berdiferensiasi Untuk Meningkatkan Keaktifan dan Hasil Belajar Kelas X SMA Materi Transpor Membran Sel

This is a Collaborative Classroom Action Research aimed at improving students' engagement and cognitive learning outcomes through the implementation of the Project Based Learning model in differentiated teaching on the topic of cell membrane transport systems. This research was conducted at State High School 8 Semarang in the first semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, with a research subject of 36 students in class XI-1. The research was conducted in two cycles. The instruments used included an observation sheet for student engagement and pretest-posttest questions. The results indicated that the level of successful student engagement in the first cycle was 44%, and it increased to 75% in the second cycle. The average student engagement percentage in the first cycle was 54%, which increased to 84% in the second cycle, with the average engagement outcomes in the observed aspects reaching 85%, classified as high. Furthermore, the improvement in student learning outcomes was 50% in the first cycle, increasing to 58% in the second cycle. In conclusion, the application of the Project Based Learning model proved effective in enhancing the engagement and learning outcomes of class XI-1 students at State High School 8 Semarang in the topic of cell membrane transport.

Level of Students' Mathematical Literacy Based on Cognitive Conceptual Tempo (Reflective-Impulsive)

This research aims to describe students' mathematical literacy abilities based on their cognitive conceptual tempo. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach. The research was conducted at SMKN 1 Ngasem in class XI-2 Design, Modeling, and Building Information. Data collection techniques in this research involved the use of tests and interviews. The tests were divided into two parts: the Matching Familiar Figures Test (MFFT) to gather data on students' cognitive styles (conceptual tempo) and a mathematical literacy test to assess the level of mathematical literacy abilities of the students. The results of this research indicate that reflective subjects were able to achieve a mathematical literacy level of 3 for S1 and level 4 for S2. Reflective students fall within the medium scale. Meanwhile, impulsive subjects achieved mathematical literacy indicators at level 1 and level 4 for S3, and level 1, level 3, and level 4 for S4. Impulsive students also fall within the medium scale. Furthermore, future researchers can explore more extensive mathematical literacy content and contexts.

Integrated Landslide Mitigation Model in Physics Concept of Environmental Pollution and Alternative Energy

This research integrates landslide disaster mitigation into physics education, with a focus on environmental pollution and alternative energy for high school students. The research aims to address the frequent landslides in Indonesia, particularly in Central Bengkulu Regency, which can cause significant disruptions. The objective is to develop a model for integrating disaster mitigation into physics education at MAN Insan Cendekia Central Bengkulu. The research method employed is Research and Development (R&D) using the 4D model, limited to the design stage. The research subjects were students in class XI-1 specializing in Physics at MAN Insan Cendekia. The analysis of disaster potential in Central Bengkulu indicates a need for disaster mitigation education. The Butterfly Webbed Concept Map was developed to integrate physics material with disaster mitigation education. It provides a visual representation of the relationship between environmental pollution, alternative energy, resource utilization, and landslide disaster mitigation. This integration can be applied in physics learning for disaster risk awareness for students.

Analisis Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis dan Hambatan Belajar Siswa Kelas XI Materi Translasi

This research aims to identify and analyze students' critical thinking skills and learning barriers in learning mathematics translation material. The concept of translation is fundamental for students who want to master geometric transformations. Students must understand the basics of translation because this understanding of translation will be needed at a higher level. However, many students still experience obstacles in understanding translation material. Students experience learning impediments because of the difference between the expected achievements of critical thinking skill indicators, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference, and the actual results. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research methodology, utilizing data collection techniques such as interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive methods with 30 class XI-1 students as participants. Triangulation was used in the data collection process, which involved using teacher and student interviews, administering diagnostic tests, and textbook analysis (document analysis). The research results show that the average percentage of students' critical thinking abilities from the four indicators is 41.665%. Ontogenic, didactic, and epistemological barriers cause the low critical thinking skills of class XI-1 in studying translation. The research results can be used as considerations for teachers in designing learning to improve critical thinking skills and reduce students' learning barriers in learning translational material.

Upaya Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Peserta Didik XI-2 Materi Matriks Melalui Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe STAD Di SMA Negeri 6 Surabaya Tahun Ajaran 2023/2024

The cause of the low learning outcomes of students on matrix material is the lack of understanding of concepts and communication skills. A learning model that overcomes these problems is needed. The STAD type cooperative learning model can increase the interaction between students so that students can communicate and collaborate to understand matrix concepts. This class action research aims to improve students' learning outcomes on matrix material by applying the STAD type cooperative learning model in class XI-2 SMA Negeri 6 Surabaya. The data collection techniques used were observation, learning outcomes test, and documentation. The results showed that by applying the STAD type cooperative learning model can improve the learning outcomes of students of class XI-2 SMAN 6 Surabaya on matrix material. This is indicated by an increase in the value of learning outcomes and completeness of students after being given action in each cycle. There was an increase in learning outcomes by 39.39% from pre-cycle to cycle I and 54.54% from cycle I to cycle II. Learning completeness reached 54.54% in cycle I and 100% in cycle II.

The Influence of Implementing Problem-Based E-Modules on Students' Motivation And Learning Outcomes on Colloid Systems Chemistry Materials in Senior High School

The research aims to determine the effect of implementing problem-based e-Modules on student motivation and learning outcomes in colloid system material in class XI SMA Negeri 9 Medan. This research method is descriptive quantitative with taking samples from the population by random sampling as many as 60 students as samples (30 students in class XI-2 as experiments and 30 students in class XI-1 as controls). Data was collected through tests and questionnaires, then analyzed using SPSS 24 for Windows with a one-party t-test. The results of the analysis show that students' chemistry learning motivation increased significantly with the implementation of the e-Module, with the average score of the experimental class (71.33%) being higher than the control class (49.00%). This is supported by the results of the one-party t-test which shows a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05. Apart from that, there is a significant influence on students' chemistry learning outcomes, with the experimental class post-test score (79.67) being higher than the control class (74.5) and the one-tailed t-test significance value of 0.031 < 0.05 . Research also shows a positive correlation between motivation and student learning outcomes with a sig value of 0.026 < 0.05, confirming that the application of problem-based e-Modules contributes to improving student chemistry learning outcomes in colloidal systems material.

Implementation of an Integrated Problem Based Learning Model in Acid-Base Material

This research was carried out on the basis of the dominance of the use of lecture methods and the lack of use of learning tools in learning especially on Acid-Base material at SMAN 1 Purba. This research aims to (1) know significant influence between prior knowledge and LKPD on learning outcomes. (2) knowing the difference in learning outcomes between high initial knowledge and low initial knowledge. The population of this study were all class XI SMAN 1 Purba consisting of 3 classes by determining 1 class as the research sample, namely class XI-1 using purposive sampling techniques. This research uses multiple linear regression test and Independent Sample t-Test. Based on data analysis, values are obtained the average EPA is 78.24; 86.00; 72.62, average LKPD value is 78.82; 87.06; 74.12 and the average EHB value is 79.26; 88.97; 82.47. Observation data from the observation sheet the average value obtained was 82.06; 87.57; 82.50. Based on the multiple linear regression test, there is a significant influence between initial knowledge and LKPD on learning outcomes. Results Independent Sample t-Test There is a significant difference in learning outcome scores between students with initially high ability and students with low initial ability.

An i-packing in a graph G is a set of vertices that are pairwise at distance more than i. A packing colouring of G is a partition X = {X 1, X 2, . , X k } of V(G) such that each colour class Xi is an i-packing. The minimum order k of a packing colouring is called the packing chromatic number of G, denoted by χρ (G). In this paper we investigate the existence of trees T for which there is only one packing colouring using χρ (T) colours. For the case χρ (T) = 3, we completely characterise all such trees. As a by-product we obtain sets of uniquely 3-χρ -packable trees with monotone χρ -colouring and non-monotone χρ -colouring respectively.

Application of Differentiated Problem Based Learning to Increase Biology Learning Independence at SMAN 1 Poto Tano

The purpose of this research was to explain whether the application of the differentiated Problem Based Learning (PBL) method was able to increase the independence of biology learning in class XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Poto Tano for the 2022/2023 academic year. This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which was carried out in 2 cycles. The research subjects were class XI-2 students, totaling 33 students. The data collection technique used is observation which will be carried out during the learning process. The results of this research indicate that the application of the differentiated Problem Based Learning (PBL) method can increase the biology learning independence of class XI 2 students at SMA Negeri 1 Poto Tano for the 2022/2023 academic year. This can be proven by the increase in student independence in learning from cycle 1 by 68.67%, to 85.45% in cycle 2

Rancangan Bangun Media Pembelajaran Bintaro (Bianglala Pintar Trigonometri) Pada Materi Trigonometri Kelas X SMK Negeri 37 Jakarta Selatan

This research aims to produce intuitive, interesting, and efficient mathematics learning media. This research is a development research that uses research and development (r&d) with the addie model that covers a sequence of stages ranging from analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This study was conducted on students of x grade smk netherlands 37 south jakarta. The research subjects that used are students of class xi with bintaro learning media. The number of students in the class is 28 students. The data collection techniques that used are validation and questionnaire filling. The result of this study shows that the use of bintaro props can be used as an alternative to help students to understand mathematics lesson on trigonometric material.

The Effect Of Utilizing The Internet As A Source Of Learning History On The Learning Motivation Of Students In Class Xi Ips Man 1 Agam In The Year 2022

This research raises the problem: 1) How is the utilization of the internet as a source of learning history by students of class XI IPS MAN 1 Agam in the 2022/2023 academic year? And 2) Is there an influence of the utilization of the internet as a source of learning history on the learning motivation of students in class XI IPS MAN 1 Agam in the 2022/2023 academic year? The purpose of this research is to find out: 1) To determine the utilization of the internet as a source of learning history by students of class XI IPS MAN 1 Agam in the 2022/2023 academic year, and 2) To determine the effect of internet utilization as a source of learning history on learning motivation of students in class XI IPS MAN 1 Agam Lesson Year 2022/2023. The results obtained from this study are the utilization of the internet as a learning resource in the good enough category while student learning motivation is in the high category. From the results of regression analysis, the value of Fcount = 19.607 with a significance of 0.000 <0.05 shows that there is an effect of internet utilization as a learning resource on the learning motivation of students in class XI IPS MAN 1 Agam in the 2022/2023 academic year.

Android-Based Islamic Religious Education Learning Media Application Design Body Removal Materials For Class Xi High School Students

Currently, there are many technology learning media that can be used by teachers, one of which is android media. Android media has not been widely used in high school / ma corpse starters. With android media, monotonous corpse novice learning will be effective and become a special attraction for students.This study aims to 1) find out how research and development are carried out for technological developments that require developments in educational methods. 2) To know how to cope with the large number of students who are less interested in monotonous classroom learning. This research is a development research using the ADDIE development model which consists of 5 stages, but in this developer the researcher uses only 4 stages, namely analysis, design, development, and implementation. Data collection instruments in the form of questionnaires, observations / tests of learning outcomes. The results showed: 1) Producing android media products that are attractive, technology-based and in accordance with the needs of students in the development of this era. 2) The product is developed through First, needs analysis. Second, designing learning media with storyboards, thirdly developing android media then validating material experts, media, and teachers. The fourth is the implementation of the teacher in the classroom.

Meningkatkan Kemampuan Bernalar Kritis, Dengan PBL Materi Gaya Hidup Sehat Fase F, SMK Negeri 1 Merdeka

Education in Indonesia faces various complex challenges. Therefore, efforts continue to be made by the government, educational institutions and society as a whole to improve access, quality and relevance of education in order to create a young generation that is skilled, competitive and ready to face global challenges. In the context of the Independent Curriculum, Catholic religious education in Indonesia focuses on developing religious understanding, moral values and Catholic spirituality for students. The independent curriculum emphasizes the Pancasila student profile. In this classroom action research, the researcher focuses on the critical reasoning dimension which is based on the importance of forming strong character and mental attitudes in the younger generation, especially in facing complex global challenges. The majority of students who are accepted to school at SMK Negeri 1 Merdeka are students who are accepted into majors that do not match their initial interests. Students with this kind of condition tend to feel unmotivated to learn. Based on the problem conditions above, teachers can provide learning experiences by designing the learning process. One learning model that can be applied is Problem Based Learning (PBL) or problem-based learning. The research objectives include (1) to find out how the use of the Problem Based Learning model in increasing students' learning motivation on healthy lifestyle material, in class xi of SMK Negeri 1 Merdeka, (2) to find out how to increase the learning motivation of class assistance with the Problem Based Learning model in healthy lifestyle material, (3) to find out the use of the Problem Based Learning model in healthy lifestyle material, class XI students at SMK Negeri 1 Merdeka can apply the Pancasila student profile in healthy lifestyle material, critical reasoning principles. The type of research used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques in this research used observation, interviews and documentation. data presentation, namely presenting data in the form of descriptions, graphs, tables and drawing conclusions by making conclusions from research results that refer to the problem formulation. The use of the Problem Based Learning model according to the syntax which includes orienting students to problems, organizing students to learn, guiding individual and group investigations, developing and presenting results, analyzing and evaluating the problem solving process, is effective in helping increase learning motivation and student independence in Healthy lifestyle material in class XI of SMK Negeri 1 Merdeka

Post-pandemic impact: E-learning crack-up and English learning quality

This study delved into the impact of the E-learning crack-up on the learning process during the pandemic to the post-pandemic learning process and the quality of English learning during face-to-face learning. This study applied qualitative research methods. The researchers selected six students from class XI-1 and one teacher at SMAN 1 Nunukan to participate in the interview session. In the data collection process, documents, observations, and interviews as research instruments were implemented. The researchers analyzed research data through three phases: data condensation, presentation, and conclusion verification. From the data analysis, the researchers found that E-learning crack-ups in the learning process during the pandemic affected students' learning processes. This is evidenced by the results of student interviews, which stated that they were still trying to adapt to the learning process in the post-pandemic period. However, based on the observations and document reviews, the researchers also found that the students' adaptation process during the post-pandemic learning period was excellent because it was supported by an exciting learning process and the implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka at Nunukan 1 Public High School. Thus, the quality of learning at SMAN 1 Nunukan is outstanding.
