A cross-sectional study of the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown on domestic violence-related oral and maxillofacial injuries.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, more domestic violence-related traumas were reported. In this study, we investigated and compared the incidence of domestic violence-related injuries-in particular oral and maxillofacial injuries-in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, before and during the COVID-19 lockdown. We conducted a cross-sectional study based on 3974 domestic violence cases registered at the Public Health Department, National Traumatology and Orthopedics Research Center of Mongolia between 2018 and 2022. Descriptive and binary logistic regression analyses were conducted. The victims were categorized according to their age (child, adult, and elderly). The mean age of the victims was children 9.7 ± 5.4 years, adults 34.8 ± 8.3 years, and elderly 64.3 ± 8.7 years. Binary logistic regression analysis (no/yes) showed that oral and maxillofacial injuries during the lockdown increased 1.3 times (OR = 1.3; CI 95% = 1.0-1.6; p = .003) in adults and 2.5 times in children (OR = 2.5; CI 95% = 1.7-3.9; p = .001). Additionally, injuries to upper limbs increased 4.6 times (OR = 4.6; CI 95% = 3.5-6.1; p = .001) in adults and 5.2 times in elderly patients (OR = 5.2; CI 95% = 1.8-16.2; p = .01). Additionally, thorax injury in children increased 3.1 times (OR = 3.1; CI 95% = 1.7-5.7; p = .001). During the lockdown, injury to oral and maxillofacial regions increased in adult and child victims of domestic violence.

Traumatic Counseling with Play Therapy Techniques to Handle Children Victims of Domestic Violence

<p>Traumatic counseling with play therapy techniques can be a solution for children victims of domestic violence. This study aims to describe the application of traumatic counseling with play therapy techniques to treat children victims of domestic violence. This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Primary data sources were the head of UPTD PPA (Regional Technical Service Unit for the Protection of Women and Children) Samarinda, child psychologists, and case handling staff. Secondary data sources were documents of UPTD PPA. Data collection techniques were observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed by employing Miles, et al. model covering data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The data validity testing included increasing persistence, using reference materials, and triangulating sources and techniques. The study results show that the counseling place is representative of all the facilities. The counselors are certified psychologists who have licenses from relevant ministries and are experienced. The counseling phase begins with the assessment. The counseling session is carried out systematically with play therapy techniques in the form of rapport first, then doing an active and fun approach to children, getting to know children better, then trying to direct children to talk while playing.</p>

Fiqhi Jinayah Analysis on Legal Protection for Women and Children Victims of Domestic Violence

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana perlindungan hukum terhadap perempuan dan anak sebagai korban KDRT pesrpektif fiqh jinayah dan hukum pidana serta mengetahui perbedaan dan persamaan fiqh jinayah dan hukum pidana terhadap perempuan dan anak korban KDRT. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pustaka (library research). Data dari penelitian ini diperoleh dari data primer dan data sekunder. Dengan pendekatan teologis, yuridis normatif, dan sosiologis. Dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data yaitu dokumentasi dan kepustakaan. Serta teknik pengolahan dan analisis data menggunakan teknik deduktif, induktif, komparatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perlindungan hukum perempuan dan anak sebagai korban kekerasan dalam rumah tangga perspektif fiqh jinayah yaitu perlindungan dengan hukum qishash ketika hukuman qishash tidak dapat diterapkan maka membayar diyat sebagai bentuk pidana pengganti, dan pidana ta’zir untuk pemberian hukum yang dapat menjerakan pelaku, pandangan hukum terhadap perlindungan hukum perempuan dan anak korban kekerasan dalam rumah tangga yaitu Undang-Undang PKDRT diatur dalam Bab VIII Pasal 44, Pasal 45, dan Pasal 49, serta perlindungan secara fisik dan psikis yaitu berupa perlindungan sementara, pelayanan kesehatan, pekerja sosial, pelayanan bimbingan rohani, serta perbandingan fiqh jinayah dan hukum pidana terhadap perlindungan hukum perempuan dan anak korban kekerasan dalam rumah tangga yaitu perspektif fiqh jinayah tindakan suami yang melakukan kekerasan fisik terhadap istri dan anak adalah suatu bentuk kejahatan dan perbuatan yang dilarang oleh syariat akan mengakibatkan kemudharatan dan merugikan keselamatan istri dan anak yang disebut perbuatan jarimah, dari segi hukum pelaku tindak pidana kekerasan fisik terhadap perempuan dan anak yaitu pidana penjara dan denda, sedangkan dalam fiqh jinayah adalah qishas, jika qishas batal maka diganti dengan diyat, selain itu bisa berupa tazir.

Facilitation by Healthcare Professionals in Obtaining Free Legal Aid for Children Victims of Domestic Violence: Legal Principles and Problematic Aspects

The purpose of the article is to determine the legal status of a healthcare professional as a subject of assistance to children who are the victims of domestic violence in accessing free legal aid.
 The study aims at revealing the issues of practical realization of the child's right to health care in connection with the right to access to free legal aid and the right to protect a child from all forms of violence and abusive treatment. As a result of monitoring the legislative regulation and statistics on cases related to domestic violence, the study revealed a lack of coordination between certain provisions of specialized laws and regulations, as well as a variety of statistics and reports. This makes it difficult to provide a generalized description of the state of access to free legal aid for children victims of domestic violence, in particular with the assistance of medical professionals.

<p>Parents are the main place for children to get the things they need, starting from affection, a sense of security, a place for children to know about the world for the first time, but the reality is that not all parents are able to fulfill this, it is found that there are parents who are building family in an inappropriate way, such as physical or psychological violence that they do. This makes children victims of violence by parents. So the purpose of this study is to identify and analyze parenting styles for children who are victims of domestic violence. Regarding the population in this study were children who were victims of domestic violence with a sample of 40 children using simple random sampling technique. The findings of this study found that the type of parenting style of<br />authoritarian parents became the parenting style carried out by parents who carried out acts of domestic violence with a percentage level of 50.62% which tended to be authoritarian parenting styles which were dominant parents and there was an element of violence in the development of children, so that services Guidance and counseling is expected to help child victims of domestic violence in overcoming difficult times or obstacles they feel as a result of the violence that has occurred.</p>

Assertive Student Victims of Domestic Violence: Basic Qualitative Analysis From Guidance and Counseling Perspective

Abstract. Domestic Violence is mostly experienced by women and children. Victims of domestic violence will be moody, quiet, aggressive, and tend to have less assertive behavior. Assertive behavior is the ability to convey what you want, feel, and think to others openly and honestly without intending to offend. This study aims to determine the description of assertive behavior in child victims of domestic violence. The study was conducted on 4 student victims of domestic violence (4 girls; aged 17-19 years; student status, students, and private employees) through observation and interviews with data reduction analysis, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the assertive behavior of children, as the victims of domestic violence, was equally low indicated by the request to convey rights, rejection of invitations, self-expression, giving praise to people, and taking part in the conversation. The difference, however, is found in the aspect of rejection, subjects DFS, IR, P are better than subject C. To increase assertive behavior in children who are victims of domestic violence, an exercise to communicate assertively at home for children and parents is needed so that children and parents can improve their ability to control emotions, hence minimizing the mistreatment of children. Therefore, the role of Guidance and Counseling is very much needed through information services and content mastery. The material that can be given is the application of assertiveness on daily basis to children as victims of domestic violence.Keywords: assertive; children victims of domestic violence; perspective of guidance and counseling.

The Model of Legal Protection for Children Victims of Domestic Violence Based on Justice

Indonesia has passed a policy on child protection and eliminating domestic violence. However, the critical question that needs to be asked is why violence against children increases yearly. This study aims to analyze the model of legal protection for children victims of domestic violence based on justice. This research is empirical research with primary, secondary, and tertiary data. This study concludes that the norms of Malay customary law that regulate violence in Bengkulu City, namely Cempalo Hand and Cempalo Mouth, can reduce violence against children in the household.

Konsep Perlindungan Hukum Peradilan Bagi Anak Korban Kekerasan Dalam Rumah Tangga

The purpose of this study is first to find out how to protect legal protection for children who are victims of domestic violence. Second, to find out how the judicial mechanism is for victims of domestic violence. The research method is normative juridical, with a descriptive approach, namely the results obtained from this study are expected to provide an overview of legal protection for children as victims of domestic violence. The results of his research are legal protection for children as victims of domestic violence, namely the protection provided, including: providing legal assistance; confidentiality of the victim's identity; arrest of the offender with preliminary evidence; providing other assistance in the form of health services; rehabilitation efforts. The judicial mechanism for child victims of domestic violence is with the right handling and approach so that this problem can be handled properly, namely directed to the resolution of domestic violence crimes through restorative justice efforts to restore the rights of victims and relationships with the perpetrators.

Handling Domestic Violence Through Mediation Out of Court

This study was structured to determine the settlement of cases of domestic violence in the city of Pekalongan. This aims to determine the approach to mediation outside the court in the settlement of domestic violence as an alternative. It also analyzes the obstacles in solving cases and their solutions. Method The approach in this study is a qualitative research that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people and observable behavior. The specification of this research is descriptive qualitative which analyzes and presents facts systematically to determine the psychological condition of women and children victims of domestic violence. This study concludes that domestic violence in the city of Pekalongan is more experienced by women who are a wife, while the perpetrators are dominated by men who are husbands. Settlement according to state law regulated in the Law on the Elimination of Domestic Violence, it is necessary to find an alternative solution. The settlement through out-of-court mediation with the Pekalongan City Women, Children and Youth Protection Institute (LP PAR) as a companion is an alternative solution as an effort to restore good name, and dignity, especially for women as victims.

A Study on a Group Integrative Arts Therapy Program Using Play for Emotional Stability of Children Victims of Domestic Violence

이 연구는 가정폭력으로 피해를 받는 아동들의 몸과 마음 그리고 정신의 회복에 도움을 주고자 놀이를 활용한집단 통합예술치료 프로그램을 개발하는 것이다. 총 12회기로 개발된 프로그램은 매회기마다 놀이와 음악 미술영화 문학 예술 매체를 적용하였다. 초반부 1∼3회기는 정서적으로 불안하고 위축된 아동이 안전하고 편안함을 느끼며 프로그램에 대한 흥미를 갖도록 구성하였다. 중반부의 4∼9회기는 가정폭력으로 피해를 입은 아동에게서 나타나는 불안정한 정서 중 우울과 불안을 완화시키기 위하여 긍정적인 표현을 강화하고 의사소통을 개선하는활동으로 구성하였다. 10∼12회기의 후반부는 아동 스스로가 정서적 안정을 느낌으로써 주위 인물과의 건강한 관계를 형성하는데 목적을 두고 프로그램을 구성하였다. 전체 프로그램의 주요 활동은 게임, 인형극, 즉흥극, 노래부르기, 노래 만들기, 악기연주, 음악 동작, 점토 만들기, 영화 감상, 글쓰기 등이며 회기당 열기 15분, 만나기 35 분, 닫기 5분, 적용하기 5분 총 60분으로 구성하였다. 이 연구에서 개발한 프로그램은 가정폭력 피해 아동에게 적용한 뒤 그 효과를 검증받음으로써 통합예술치료 연구의 기초자료로 그 역할을 하게 될 것이다.

Caring for children and adolescents victims of domestic violence: A qualitative study.

To explore nurses' perceptions on caring for children and adolescents who are victims of domestic violence, medical treatment of a victim of domestic violence and social aspects of recognizing this problem. Nurses are often first to recognize family violence; thus, they must have appropriate knowledge, skills and experience. Caring for child victims of domestic violence can be very stressful and emotional and nurses must have support when caring for them. A qualitative study was conducted between June and August 2020. Interviews were conducted with paediatric nurses in a university hospital in Slovenia. Interviews were transcribed, coded and synthesized. We identified four main categories: violence against children; nurses' perception of caring for a child victim of domestic violence; medical treatment of a child who is a victim of domestic violence; the social aspect of recognizing violence against a child. Domestic violence is present regardless of country, language and nationality. Early interventions should be directed towards recognition of the signs of domestic violence and care for victims of violence and caregivers. It is the responsibility of healthcare systems, hospital managers and nurses themselves to provide nursing care for children and adolescent victims of domestic violence based on the newest and best evidence.

Subjective Well Being Anak Korban Kekerasan dalam Rumah Tangga (KDRT)

The happiness of children and teenager is an inseparable part of family happiness. Family is one of the factors in the determinant of children and teenager. Children living in families experiencing domestic violence are at high risk for mental health problems, such as depression and life failure. This study aims to describe the subjective well being of children victims of domestic violence based on two aspects, namely aspects of life satisfaction and aspects of affection (positive and negative experiences). This study uses a descriptive approach with a sample of 53 students with the characteristics of adolescents who are violent in the household. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling and the data collection tool uses a subjective well being scale. The results of the study revealed that the subjective well being of children victims of domestic violence was low with a percentage of 49.06%, while in the medium category with a percentage of 35.85%, high category 13.21%, and very low category 1.89%. The implication of this research is the basis for guidance and counseling teachers to improve the subjective well-being of students in schools.

Applying art therapy in improving resilience in child victims of domestic violence

Domestic violence experienced by children make them more prone to emotional, behavior, adaptation and mental health problems. Some researches show that children with high resiliency are able to develop a positive attitude, perspective and adaptability despite a history of violence. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of CBT Art Therapy intervention to increase the resiliency of children expose to domestic violence. The method used in this research is single case single-subject experiment ABA design. Resilience measurement instruments used in this research are Quotient Test (RQT) and resilience behavior observation sheet. Data were analyzed through visual analysis and descriptive data analysis. The results showed an increasing score in RQT (27 points) as well as the intensity of resilience behavior and positive changes in the use of color, quality and theme of the artwork. Overview Of Gender Victims Of Family In The Household In Garut District

Data from the West Java Women's and Child Empowerment (P2TP2A) Integrated Service Center counselor, shows that the number of domestic violence (KDRT) in West Java is still high. In one year P2TP2A can handle more than 100 cases. that number could be more because until now there are still many victims of domestic violence who do not dare to report. This is a concern of the community and the regional government of West Java, so the problem is how to protect victims of domestic violence in Garut. This writing study uses literature studies that emphasize data collection through searching / reviewing books related to research. The data analysis method used is a descriptive-analytical method by collecting and compiling data, then analysis and interpretation of the data are sought. Violence against women and children victims of domestic violence in Garut Regency over the past five years as many as 430 cases including 2014 violence against women, 46 cases, in 2015 there were 31 cases, in 2016 there were 37 cases, in 2017 there were 30 cases and in 2018 as many as 17 cases. This shows that the amount of violence against women has decreased from year to year. Garut Regency protects women and children who are victims of violence by fulfilling the rights of women and children victims of violence and discrimination starting from prevention efforts, social services, and rehabilitation. All protection aims to protect women and provide security in the fulfillment of their rights by providing consistent and systematic attention aimed at achieving gender equality.

The results of the study show that issues relating to the regulation of legal protection for child victims of domestic violence, not all the rights of victims are clearly regulated, legal protection for child victims of domestic violence that is not clearly regulated. Therefore, criminal law reforms must be carried out on the provisions of legal protection for child victims of domestic violence that are regulated in the legislation, especially against child victims of domestic violence so that there is a legal umbrella that can guarantee the emergence of a sense of justice and certainty in the community.

Rational Emotive Behavior Theraphy Approach to Overcoming Traumatized Child Victims of Domestic Violence

<p>Trauma is a psychological symptom that causes a child to be frightened due to an event he has experienced that causes a child to imagine an event that makes him afraid or traumatized, so there is need for help to overcome it. Rational Emotive Behavior Theraphy (REBT) is an approach that rationalizes irrational children's thinking to be rational. This article belongs to the type of qualitative research with a case study approach. The subject in this article is one student with criteria as a child who experiences domestic violence by his biological father who is separated from his mother. Taking the subject of this study using purposive sampling method. This study uses REBT approach techniques, data collection by interview counseling and observation. The technique guarantees the validity of the data carried out by building close relationships with subjects and informants naturally and continually making observations. Data analysis techniques were carried out by means of data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing and verification.</p>

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) in reducing Psychological Impacts on Children Victims of Domestic Violence

<p>The psychological impact of violence in the household is more severe than the physical impact, including fear, anxiety, fatigue, post traumatic stress disorder, eating and sleeping disorders, and children with severe mental problems can think of suicide. This article aims to present an analysis of the psychological impact on child victims of domestic violence using the literature method and cognitive behavioral therapy approaches that can be carried out by counselors.</p>

The Contribution of Self-Esteem and Parenting towards Aggressive Behavior of Child Victims’ Domestic Violence

Children who live in violent environments have aggressive tendencies as a result of the interaction process. Aggressive behavior of children is influenced by several factors such as improper care, stress, low self-esteem, bad relationships and the display of violence in the mass media. This research aims at examining the contribution of self-esteem and parenting to the aggressive behavior of child victims of domestic violence. The research used a quantitative approach with a descriptive and correlation type. The research respondents were the students of SMA Negeri Padang who were identified as 73 victims of domestic violence victims, selected by using a purposive sampling technique. The data were collected using the CFSEI-2 inventory for self-esteem and Likert model scale for aggressive behavior with a reliability level of 0.899 and 0.915 for parenting. The data processing used a multiple regression analysis technique with the help of SPSS for Windows Release 20. The findings of this research indicated that self-esteem and parenting together contributed to the aggressive behavior of child victims of domestic violence by 41.7%.

Promotion of children's rights and prevention of child abuse

Child abuse is a complex, multi-faceted and controversial topic. A retrospective cohort study aimed to characterize the profile of children victims of domestic violence and their aggressors and to evaluate the efficiency of judicial interventions. Ninety-eight cases lodged with the Infancy and Childhood Court involving 179 children and 121 perpetrators were analyzed. Negligence/abandonment (62%) and physical violence (30%) were the most frequent violations. Mothers were identified as the most frequent aggressor; monthly income of up to one minimum wage and history of alcohol use have been associated with violence. Seventy-one percent of victims were enrolled in educational institutions. In 25% of the cases the severity of the abuse required the removal of the child from the family. A third of the children were enrolled in official programs designed to provide the family with support, orientation and follow-up. This protective judicial intervention was successful in reducing abuse in 93% of the cases within 2 years. Prevention of child abuse requires the involvement of professionals of multiple fields at an early stage. The promotion and safeguarding of children's rights must come primarily from the implementation of public policy not judicial intervention.
