The Effect Of Groundwater Level And Organic Mulch Application On The Chemical Properties Of Peat Soil


 Peat as agricultural land has various obstacles, one of the problems is the decrease in groundwater level. This can have an impact on the availability of nutrients in the soil. Therefore, water management is an absolute necessity for agricultural activities on peatlands. Another effort that can be made to increase the fertility of peatlands as agricultural land is to use organic mulch. This study aims to analyze the effect of peat water level and application of organic mulch on the chemical properties of peat soil planted with corn. This research was conducted in Air Terbit Village, Riau Province and the Soil Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, from February to July 2021. This research used a factorial complete randomized design (CRD) method consisting of 2 factors. The first factor was the various heights of the groundwater level which consisted of 3 levels (30 cm, 40 cm and 50 cm), while the second factor was various types of organic mulch (without mulch, mulch of empty oil palm bunches, mulch of rice straw and mulch of corn stover). The results showed that the GWL 30 cm treatment and rice straw mulch increased the pH, Ca and Mg values ​​better than the other treatments, the N element also increased at GWL 30 cm. In general, the two treatment factors also increased the values ​​of P, CEC and Na in some experimental units. C-organic and K values ​​decreased after the treatment compared to the criteria of the soil before treatment.

Growth response and nutrition uptake of corn plants on drought stress in peat soil

Peat soil has been exposed to drought so it cannot bind water (irreversible drying) and loses its function as soil. Peat soil will be dry organic soil cannot provide water to plants. In addition, drought stress as abiotic stress decreased the ability of the soil to hold roots so that plants can fall easily which is impacted by changing the physical and chemical properties of peat soil. The goal of this research was to acquire biofertilizer components that are optimized for increasing corn in drought-stress land and the sustainability of peat soils. This study was conducted inside the experimental land of Universitas Bina Insan, Lubuklinggau. The layout used in this study became a factorial randomized block design with two elements. The first element has been the biofertilizer method (F) with four stages, specifically: F0 = without mycorrhizae, F1 = Mycorrhiza + Petrobio, F2 = Mycorrhiza + Agrozeabiochar, F3 = Mycorrhiza + Pugam. The second element was the intensity of watering (P) includes 4 ranges, particularly: watering once a day, P2 = watering every three days, P3 = watering every five days, and P4 = watering every seven days. The results showed that the biofertilizer formula with mycorrhizal+petrobio (F1) treatment has significant effects in increasing plant height, plant dry weight, and nutrient uptake. Enhancement of nutrient uptake correlated with increasing the growth of corn plants on drought stress in peat soil, The intensity of watering, was significantly different in all treatments except for K nutrients uptake.

Assessment of forest fires influence on chemical and microbiological properties of hydromorphic soils in northern part of Sym-Dubchessk interfluve (Krasnoyarsk territory)

The subject of the study are three raised bogs located in the vicinity of the Sredneeniseyskya monitoring station of the V. N. Sukachev Institute of Forest SB RAS (Krasnoyarsk Territory), which were affected by fires in different periods of time. It is shown that the bogs differed in thickness and age of peat, the amount of accumulated macro charcoal particles along the soil profiles. The age of the lower peat horizons showed that bog formation in the studied area started at different times: from the second half of the Boreal period of the Holocene to the Subatlantic period. The content of charcoal showed that the pyrogenic activity during the Holocene was different. The morphological structure and chemical properties of peat soils have changed in the pyrogenic horizons of all the sites, compared with non-pyrogenic ones. They are depleted of carbon and nitrogen, enriched in ash elements. The content of microbial biomass (MB) and basal respiration (BR) rate is low due to a lack of organic matter, the microbial trophy is disturbed, and the restoration of microbial activity is extremely slow. The main role in the transformation of pyrogenic horizons was assigned to bacteria, while fungal activity was significantly lower.

Analysis of Peat Soil Chemical Properties in Oil Palm Plantation in Simpang Kanan Village, Rokan Hilir Regency

This ecosystem change results in changes in chemical, physical, and biological characteristics and properties. The fertility level of peatlands can be determined through an analysis of the chemical properties of the soil. Therefore, the analysis of the chemical properties of the soil, including the analysis of the main nutrient content, was carried out from November 2021 to January 2022 in Simpang Kanan Village, Simpang Kanan District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. Farmers in Simpang Kanan Village use marginal land, that is peat soil to develop oil palm farming. This research was conducted using the free grid method at the semi-detailed survey level. The implementation of taking soil samples from 3 sample points with a distance of 100 meters in the field using a random method scattered at predetermined points. Farmers in Simpang Kanan Village use marginal peat soil to cultivate oil palm plantations. So far, no analysis of the chemical properties of peat soil has been carried out. Application of fertilizers and cultivation is only based on knowledge from the internet or from previous generations. Therefore, it is important to study the analysis of the chemical properties of soil from peatlands used for oil palm plantations. The results of research on the chemical properties of peatlands in Simpang Kanan Village, Simpang Kanan District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province showed that the peat soil planted with oil palm in Simpang Kanan Village had a pH of around 4.89, C-organic 6.07%, N-Total 1 ,67 mg/L , P-Total 34.08 mg/L , K-Total 11.54 mg/L. Thus, the chemical properties of the soil in oil palm plantations in Simpang Kanan Village, Simpang Kanan District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. Still good, to increase fertility for oil palm cultivation, it can be done by increasing the pH in the soil so that it maximizes oil palm development and can be used as a recommendation for oil palm fertilization.

Test Of Various Bulbil Sizes And Dolomite Dosages On Porang (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume.) Growth In Peat Media

Porang plant (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume.) is one of the plants that have the potential to be cultivated in peatlands needed to increase its production. This study aims to increase the growth of smallholder plants on peat media until six months after planting through bulbil size with dolomite treatment. The research type was a 4x3 factorial experiment arranged based on a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first factor is bulbil size which consists of four levels, e.g., B1 (5.0 g-7.5 g), B2 (>7.5 g-10 g), B3 (>10 g-12.5 g), B4 (> 12.5 g-15.0 g) and the second factor dose of dolomite consists of three levels, e.g., D1 (2.5 ton.ha-1) D2 (5.0 ton.ha-1) D3 (7.5 ton.ha-1) -1). These two factors resulted in 12 treatment combinations, with three repetitions. Each experimental unit consisted of three plants. Parameters observed were growth power, plant height, stem diameter, crown width, rachis length, number of leaves, number of tillers, and number of tubers formed. The results showed that the application of dolomite could improve some of the chemical properties of peat soil. The bigger the bulbil size, the better the growth of people and the administration of 7.5 tons of dolomite.ha-1 increased several plant growth parameters such as growth power and plant height.

Peat soil has a high cation exchange capacity, low base saturation, has a low content of K, Ca, Mg, P and also has a low content of micro elements (such as Cu, Zn, Mn and B). This study aims to determine the chemical properties of peat soil that has been incubated with vermicompost fertilizer from a mixture of banana weevil, chicken manure and tofu dregs. The test was carried out by mixing peat soil and vermicompost according to the treatment in 2 kg polybags. After thoroughly stirring, the mixture was sprinkled with peat water once a day until it reached field capacity. The mixture was then incubated for 2 weeks. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. This study was conducted with a non-factorial randomized design as follows: PO = Control (1 kg of peat soil), P1 = 1 kg of peat + 500 grams of vermicompost, P2 = 1 kg of peat soil + 1 kg of vermicompost and Based on the results of the research analysis can be taken the conclusion that peat soil incubated for two weeks increased the chemical properties of the soil, namely: improving pH by P1 0.15 units and P2 by 0.175 units, total N by 0.43% and P2 by 0.755 %, P by P1 733.52 and P2 was 922,015, K was 2,145 and P2 was 2,575, Ca was 1,675 and P2 was 2,825, Mg was P1 3 and P2 was 4,27 and increased Na by 0,09 and P2 by 0,045.

The Potency of Coffea liberica to Remediate Peat Soil After Fires In The Musi-Belida Peat Hydrological Unity, Indonesia

If not conserved, burned peatlands will significantly affect the succession or development of populations and vegetation composition on peat. It will also be disturbed to reduce biodiversity, causing damage to the hydrological cycle on the land. The rehabilitation of land by replanting repairs on peatlands after burning. Coffea liberica is one type of plantation crop that can be grown in efforts to restore burned peatlands, which can grow and produce well on peatlands so that it has the potential to be the region’s flagship commodity. The research method used is a survey in the peat of the Musi-Belida peat hydrological unity, Indonesia. Sampling point sampling is determined with a purposive random sampling approach where the location is divided based on former fire land and bushland (natural). The incidence of fires on peatlands has an increasing influence on chemical characteristics (Ash Levels, C-Organic, CEC, PH, and exch_Al), which then supports the increase in the chemical elements of peat soil. The distance of canals/channels do not affect the chemical properties of peat soils affected by fire events.

Effect of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria and bionanomaterial membrane applications on chemical properties of peat soils

Peat soils have low fertility and are very acidic. Applications of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and bionanomaterial membranes (BNMs) have high potentials to alter soil pH. However, both applications have never been applied, especially in peat soils. This research aimed to analyze the effect of PGPR and BNMs applications on the chemical properties of peat soils in agroforestry sites. The method used was the sampling of disturbed peat soil. The results showed that after the application of dolomite, manure, PGPR and BNMs, pH values change from very acidic (3.60) to slightly alkaline (7.65), CN ratio from very low (1.20) to high (16), C-organic still very high (43.47%), N-total from very low (1.20%) to very high (1.47%), P-potential from moderate (26.18 mg/100g) to very high (3764.04 mg/100g), Ca-dd from low (4.11 cmol/Kg) to very high (31.59 cmol/kg), K-dd still very high (1.24 cmol/Kg), Mg-dd from high (3.72 cmol/Kg) to very high (23.68 cmol/Kg), Al-dd from very high (5.66 cmol/kg) to low (<0.05 cmol/kg), and base saturation from very low (10.36% ) to very high (100%). The soil fertility was more fertile. The applications of PGPR and BNMs are recommended to improve the peat soil fertility quickly.

The Chemical Properties of Burnt Peat Soil in Teluk Bakung Village, West Kalimantan

Peatland is one of Indonesia’s unique ecosystems and has various functions in maintaining environmental stability. The increasing demand for land in various sectors has led to activities in peat areas. Land conversion and sub-optimal management of peatland can affect the properties of the peat. This study aims to analyze the chemical properties of peat soil on four land management areas in Teluk Bakung Village, West Kalimantan. The areas were rubber stand, burnt land, taro plantation with non-burning land management, and taro plantation with burnt land management. The method used was purposive sampling with a set of five points as soil sampling within the plot measuring 20 m x 100 m. Soil samples were taken at a depth of 0 – 10 cm at each site. Then, the soil samples were evenly composited for further analysis in the laboratory. The results of the study showed that the parameters of the chemical properties at each site had various values. Burnt land had higher N, P, K, Na, and CEC values. Meanwhile, the highest pH, Ca, and Mg values were in taro plantations with non-burning land management. Then, the highest ash content values were in taro plantation with burnt land management. For the value of C-organic, rubber stand had the highest percentage compared to the other land conditions.

EFFECT OF DOLOMITE AND CHICKEN MANURE APPLICATION ON PAK CHOI (Brassica rapa chinensis) PRODUCTION AND CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS IN TROPICAL PEATLANDS

The current study was aimed to determine the effect of ameliorant on Pak choi (Brassica rapa chinensis) productivity, CO2 emissions, and factors affecting the rate of CO2 emission. The study was carried out using a non-factorial completely randomized design with seven treatments. The imposed treatment are without ameliorant (control), 10, 20, 30 ton ha-1 chicken manure, 4 ton ha-1 Dolomite + Chicken Manure @ 10 ton ha-1, Dolomite 4 ton ha-1 + Chicken Manure @ 20 ton ha-1 and Dolomite 4 ton ha-1 + Chicken Manure @ 30 ton ha-1. The variables observed are the chemical properties of peat soil, fresh and dry weight of pak choi, CO2 emissions, and factors that affect CO2 emissions. The results of the study revealed that the combination of Dolomite and chicken manure has a significant effect on the studied parameters and the combination of 4 ton ha-1 dolomite + 30 ton ha-1 chicken manure had the highest pH change (average of 6.36), highest productivity, and CO2 emission (344.42 mg cm-2hr-1). Results of the study can be concluded that Dolomite and chicken manure has a significant effect on the various growth parameters of B. rapa chinensis and the properties of the peat soil.

Pengaruh Penyiraman Air Tanah Terhadap Perubahan Sifat Kimia Tanah dan Air Gambut di Kalimantan Tengah

This study observed the changes in chemical properties of peat soil and ground water after irrigation of two peat types: inland and transition peat. The research was carried out in the Basic and Analytic Laboratory of Palangka Raya University. Inland peat and water samples were obtained from Palangka Raya City, meanwhile and transitional peatland was taken from Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan Province. Research methods consisted of survey and experimental test with complete randomized design (CRD) consisted of groundwater irrigation treatment and was repeated 3 times. The experimental parameters are soil chemical properties such as Ash Content, Base Saturation (KB), Nitrogen (N), Phosphor (P), Exchangeable Potassium (K-dd), Interchangeable Sodium (Na-dd), Interchangeable Calcium (Ca-dd), Interchangeable Magnesium (Mg-dd), Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), Aluminum Saturation, Iron (Fe), Sulfate (SO₄), Hydrogen Concentration (pH), and Electrical Delivery Power (EDP), and water chemical properties such as pH, EDP, cation, and anions.. The results showed that there has been an increase in the value of CEC, P, Na-dd, SO₄, pH, and decreased of Ash Content, N, K-dd, Ca-dd, and EDP on transitional peat soils. Meanwhile, the inland peat soils showed an increase of Ash Content, N, P, Mg-dd, a saturation of Al and Fe, and decreased in the value of CEC, Ka-dd, Na-dd, Ca-dd, SO₄, pH, and EDP. There were similar effect of groundwater irrigation, towards soil chemical properties, with an exeption of iron levels (Fe). Iron levels (Fe) in transitional peat increase, but decreased in inland peat.

Properties of peat soil formed in lacustrine plains surrounded by tectonic hills in Papua Highland

Peat soils in Papua highlands are unique because they formed in lacustrine plains surrounded by tectonic hills. However, there is no information about the characteristics of these peat soils. Thus, the purpose of this study was to assess properties of these specific peat soils. Four selected peat soils located at an altitude between 1548 to 1782 m asl were studied for their morphology. A total of 16 samples were taken for analysis in the laboratory. The results showed that peat soils were derived from reed-sedges and ferns. The ash content in extremely deep peat soils is 42-337 mg kg−1, while moderate peat soils are 179 to 648 mg kg−1. Soil acidity ranges from very acid to slightly acid. Base saturation is classified as low to moderate (30 to 62%). These peat soils received Ca and Al enrichment from the surrounding tectonic hills. Interesting findings in these soils are high exchangeable Ca (21.11 to 42.62 cmolc kg−1) and high potential P (13 to 1,104 mg kg−1). Chemical properties of peat soils in Papua are more fertile in highlands than lowland with implication of lower input application in the highland. The exchangeable Al should be considered when these peat soils are cleared for agriculture.

The Effectiveness Of Providing Vulanic Ash (Tuff Vulcan) And Dolomite As Amelioran Materials On The Growth Of Immature Liberica Coffee Plants In Peat Land Of Mekar Jaya Village

Liberika coffee is one type of coffee that is widely cultivated by people in wetland areas (peat) precisely in Betara District, Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency. In recent years, this district has become a development center and provider of Liberika coffee seeds for coffee plantation farmers from various regions such as Palembang, Kalimantan and Riau. Liberika coffee is a type of coffee that is able to adapt and produce quite well in peatlands with areca nut as a cover crop. The productivity of coffee in this area is still low at an average of 715 / kg when compared to the potential yield of Liberika coffee which can reach 950 kg / ha. Increasing production and productivity can be done through intensification and extensification. One of the efforts to improve the physical and chemical properties of peat soils so as to increase the growth and production of coffee plants is the use of ameliorants (soil enhancers). This study aims to develop a technology for using ameliorant to improve the chemical properties of peat soil. Specifically, through this study, the dosage combination of vulcan tuff ash and dolomite can be identified. which can substitute the use of artificial fertilizers (inorganic) so that it can increase the growth and production of immature liberica coffee plants on peatlands. especially the coffee plantation of farmers in the village of mekar jaya, betara district, tanjung jabung west district. From the results of this study it can be concluded that the treatment of volcanic ash and dolomite did not show significant differences in plant height parameters and, stem diameter. but it gives a real difference to the growth of live area, the number of flowers per bunch and the number of flowers in each bunch. treatment of volcanic ash 500 / gr / tree and dolomite 500 / gr / tree and a combination of volcanic ash 250 / gr / tree + dolomite 250 / gr / tree after 7 weeks of application can significantly spur on the initiation of flowering an average of 7 bunches of branch flowers if compare with control (no treatment). Likewise, observations 8 weeks after application showed the same thing, there was an increase in the number of flowers formed an average of 11 flower clumps branching. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the provision of ameliorant from vulcan tuff ash and dolomite can improve the chemical properties of peat soil so as to increase nutrient availability for growth and production of the Liberika coffee plant. From the results of this study, it can also be suggested that the use of volcanic ash and dolomite at a dose of 250-500 gr / tree to accelerate the productive phase of immature liberica coffee plants (young plants) in peatlands.

ANALISIS SIFAT KIMIA GAMBUT PASCA KEBAKARAN DENGAN BERBAGAI UPAYA PEMULIHAN HUTAN DI KAWASAN HUTAN DENGAN TUJUAN KHUSUS (KHDTK) TUMBANG NUSA, KALIMANTAN TENGAH

Peat land has an important role, function, and benefit for human life, biodiversity, and global climate. The peat swamp forest in Central Kalimantan was devastated to a very large extent, which addresses the restoration of peat swamp forests, has changed the characteristics of peat which contain physical, chemical, and biological characteristics. Peat recovery efforts carried out at the KHDTK Tumbang Nusa consist of natural succession and revegetation. The study aimed to analyze the chemical properties of peat soils in different types of post-fire forest protection and to assess the spatial variability of peat chemical properties in Forest Areas for Special Purposes (KHDTK) Tumbang Nusa, Desa Tumbang Nusa, Jabiren Raya District, Pulang Pisau Regency. The research plot consisted of forest restoration efforts, namely secondary forest, revegetation, and natural regeneration. Variable measured consisted of pH, total organic C, CEC, N, P, K, exchangeable K, Na, Ca, Mg, as well as ash content and water content. The results showed that secondary forest treatment was the best peat swamp forest restoration technique. Spatial variability sub-plots and sample points did not significantly affect the differences in chemical properties of the peat, but the differences in chemical properties of peat is the peat swamp forest was determined by restoration technique.

SIFAT KIMIA DAN TINGGI MUKA AIR TANAH GAMBUT PADA TIGA TIPE PENGGUNAAN LAHAN DI FISIOGRAFI KUBAH GAMBUT DAN RAWA BELAKANG KHG KAHAYAN-SEBAGAU

This study aims to: (1) determine the chemical properties of peat soils in 3 types of land cover in 2 physiographies; (2) find out water level fluctuations (WLF) on peat soils covered by agroforestry and horticulture in the physiography of peat dome and backswamp during the rainy season, transitions and drought. This research was conducted in January until December 2018 in Kahayan-Sebangau Peat Hidrological Unit, in the Kalampangan Vilagge. The results showed that differences in peat soil cover conditions at different physiographies affected chemical properties and WLF. The three types of peatland cover on both physiographic types of peatlands have a pH that categories into the very acid (&lt;4.5). The results of this study indicate that nutrients (N, P, Kd, C, Mg, Al, Na and SO4) that are formed in each type of land cover in 2 physiographies indicate that these elements in peatlands are influenced by a layer of peat which obtains input of organic material from the plants above it. Peat fertility depends on the contribution of organic material from plants on it. Peatland cation exchange capacity values for all types are in the very high category (&gt; 40). In addition to the chemical elements of the soil, the peat ground water level is highly volatile following rainfall so that during the peak of the dry season (MK) the WLF can reach 200 cm below the ground surface, and vice versa during the peak of the rainy season (MH) the WLF can inundate all peat soils.

PENGARUH PEMBAKARAN BERULANG PADA LAHAN GAMBUT TERHADAP BEBERAPA KARAKTERISTIK TANAH DI DESA RASAU JAYA UMUM KABUPATEN KUBU RAYA KALIMANTAN BARAT

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) identifies eight provinces considered prone to forest and land fires in Indonesia. Four provinces are in Sumatra and four are in Kalimantan, one of which is West Kalimantan. Forest and land fires seem to have become a disaster in West Kalimantan, especially every dry season. Burning activies in the preparation of land for agriculture in the village of Rasau Jaya General is still using a relatively simple technology, namely the method of "slash and burn". The impacts caused by the peat fire process are in the form of water vapor from the combustion process in the air so that smoke formed which is very thick, causes environmental pollution and can affect soil conditions such as physical and chemical properties of peat soils. The purpose of this study was to obtain information about the effects of repeated burning on peatlands on soil characteristics in Rasau Jaya Umum Village, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan. This research was conducted by survey method and carried out with purposive sampling on 3 research sites, which were on land that had repeated burning twice, 4 times and 5 times. Soil physical properties observed were peat maturity (fiber content), water content, soil moisture, water level and bulk density. The level of fertility of peatlands is influenced by the chemical nature of the soil. The chemical nature of the soil is one of the limiting factors for knowing nutrients in the soil that are beneficial for plant growth. Determination of the level of soil fertility in peatlands can be done by analyzing the chemical properties of the soil. Analysis of the soil chemical properties includes analysis of the main element content such as acidity (pH), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and cation exchange capacity (CEC). The physical properties of the soil consisting of the weight of the contents, the moisture content varies with different levels of burning, the higher the value of the weight of the contents, the more dense a soil and vice versa. In the value of water content, the amount of combustion influences the amount of ground water content, the more number of combustion, the value of water content also increases. Peat environmental conditions observed in the field consisted of soil moisture, soil temperature and ground water level measured for 7 days and obtained a mean value that also varied did not show its effect on the number of repeated fires. The chemical properties of peat soils on the number of repeated burning can increase and decrease each nutrient value consisting of N, P, K and also CEC. Nutrients that increase in the amount of combustion are pH, N, and CEC while the value of nutrients that decrease is K and P. Recycling rubberwood bark wastes into biochar to enhance chemical properties of peat soils

Peat soils in Malaysia is renowned for its poor chemical properties and often lead to restriction in agricultural uses. The abundance of waste in particle board and furniture industry offers a potential for producing biochar products with ability to enhance peat soil chemical properties. This study intends to evaluate the effects of different rate of rubberwood bark biochar on selected chemical properties of peat soils and growth performance of paddy variety MRIA 1, as a test crop. Results showed that application of rubberwood bark biochar at the rate of 226.80 grams (Treatment 3) significantly improve the soil pH, soil exchangeable potassium (K), calcium (Ca)and magnesium (Mg) combined with positive increment of tillers number, root length and height of paddy plant compare to other treatments. This study suggested a positive potential of rubberwood bark biochar to enhance the chemical properties of peat soils which led to good plant growth performance

Evaluation of peat soil properties for oil palm plantation in nine years of plant at Kubu Raya District, West Kalimantan, Indonesia

The aims of this research was to evaluate the nature of peat soil used for oil palm plantations in nine years of planting has been carried out in several private oil palm plantation companies in Kubu Raya District, West Kalimantan Province from May to June 2018. Research using survey methods with soil sampling was carried out intentionally (purposive sampling) in oil palm plantations planted on peatlands from 2009 to 2017. The results showed that the chemical properties of peat soils used for oil palm plantations in different planting years were qualitatively similar based on the assessment criteria of chemical properties. Quantitatively, some soil characteristics levels were very high. Mineral soil under peat at the study site cannot be used for ameliorant peat material because of pyrite compound. In order to maintain the quality of peat soils used for oil palm plantations, the application of ameliorant material which does not affect the acceleration of decomposition of peat soil material, must be continuously increased to the maximum extent possible.

Physical and Chemical Analysis of Land in Forest Peat Swamp in Resort Pondok soar, Tanjung Puting National Park, Central Kalimantan

Peatlands are ecosystems with the particular characteristic that is high organic matter content. On the other hand, these features lead to the peat soil vulnerable to decreasing the quality of the land. This study aimed to analyze the physical and chemical properties of peat soil in the peat swamp forest in the Resort Pondok soar, Tanjung Puting National Park in Central Kalimantan. The method used in this research is systematic sampling with a set of five points as soil sampling with twice replications within the plot measuring 100 m × 100 m. Peat soil at the site of research has added to peat ranged from 20 -> 400 cm. Tests showed there are different levels of maturity of peat from fibric until saprik, and the peat is likely to have the same maturity level or more raw than the maturity level of peat with field tests. The results of color identification are very dusky red, dark reddish-brown, reddish-black, and black. Peat soil has a pH ranging from 3.7-5.2 with an average pH of 4.5 (acidic), does not contain pyrite, ash around 1:13% - 43.88%, and the content of organic C ranges from 32.55% - 57.35%.
