Качественные характеристики образовательной среды подготовки кадров морских и судостроительных профессий

Возможности роста экономики и ее отраслей в значительной степени определяются характеристиками человеческих ресурсов, формирующих рабочую силу настоящего и будущих периодов. В современных реалиях многие сектора национальной экономики сталкиваются как с количественным, так и с качественным несоответствием потребностей в специалистах предложению рабочей силы на соответствующих рынках труда. В этом отношении морская и судостроительные отрасли исключением не являются. Необходимость решения обозначенной проблемы определяет значимость исследования текущего состояния образовательной среды, формирующей профессионально-квалификационный базис развития морской и судостроительной отраслей промышленности. В статье рассматриваются основные элементы образовательной среды и их качественные характеристики, а также осуществляется исследование направлений повышения эффективности функционирования образовательной среды через качественное преобразование ее отдельных элементов, что является весьма актуальным. На основе методов библиографии, анализа, синтеза и принципа детерминизма охарактеризовано качественное состояние основных элементов образовательной среды. Сделан вывод о том, что в современных условиях образовательной среде подготовки кадров морских и судостроительных профессий необходимо развивать международную составляющую образовательного процесса и принципы концепции обучения через всю жизнь. The economy and its industries growth opportunities are largely determined by the characteristics of human resources that form the labor force of the present and future periods. Currently many sectors of national economy face both quantitative and qualitative inconsistencies in the needs of personnel and labour supply in respective labor markets. And In this regard, the maritime and shipbuilding industries are not an exception. The need to solve this problem determines the importance of research of the current state of the educational environment, which forms the professional and qualification basis for the marine and shipbuilding industries development. The article considers the main elements of the educational environment and their qualitative characteristics. It also studies possible directions of educational environment effectiveness improvement through the qualitative transformation of its elements. All these seems to be very urgent. On the basis of scientific methods of bibliography research, analysis, synthesis and on the basis of principle of determinism the qualitative condition of educational environment main elements are characterized. It is justified that in the current circumstances for the educational environment of growing professionals for marine and shipbuilding industries it's obligatory to develop international component of educational process as well as positive attitude towards the principles of long-life education realization.

Особенности психологического благополучия одаренных подростков с разным уровнем развития креативности

The article substantiates and verifies the hypothesis of the relationship between psychological well-being of gifted teenagers and the features of their creativity.It considers the specifics of psychological well-being in gifted adolescents with different levels of creativity, their attitude to the educational environment, the level of satisfaction with its significant characteristics and the degree of protection from psychological violence.The study was conducted on a sample of students of grades 8—10 of schools specializing in mathematics and natural science.The total number of subjects was 253 students aged 14—17 years (154 boys, 99 girls).The study used the following techniques: the Psychological Well-Being Scale by С.Ryff, the Ingenuity and Divergent Thinking scales from H.Zivert’s test of verbal creativity, and the questionnaire “Psychological Safety of Educational Environment” by I.A.Baeva.The differences in psychological well-being indicators for adolescents with different levels of verbal creativity were identified: in particular, adolescents with high creativity have a lower indicator of “positive relationships with others”.The structure of correlations between psychological well–being and creativity in groups of adolescents with high and low creativity differs.Highly creative gifted teenagers tend to evaluate their condition as less favourable as compared to their peers with low creativity and struggle with establishing close relationships.Adolescents with low creativity are more satisfied with such characteristics of educational environment as relationships with others and opportunities provided by the environment.Their assessment of protection from psychological violence is negatively correlated with originality of thinking.

Opportunities for active learning in the course of marine English

The necessity for higher education institutions to attach more importance to developing students’ skills of critical and creative thinking, communication and collaboration dictated by current circumstances, leads faculty members to implementing active learning and, thus, to becoming aware of its structural elements. The concept of active learning and importance of defining its structural elements for teaching Maritime English is dwelt on. Some peculiarities of using the active learning strategy at different stages of Maritime English course at a maritime training institution are touched upon in the article. Use of learning activities requiring high order thinking skills and development of students’ ability to reflect on the practicability of the activities done and the outcomes of personal learning are paid special attention to. It is noted that the research is based on observing the training process at the lessons by Maritime English faculty, comparing the activities used at different lesson stages with students of various years of study, analyzing lesson plans and conducting discussions with the Maritime English faculty as for possibilities of implementing the active learning strategy. Some barriers on the way to the systematic use of the active learning strategy as well as active learning methods used at practical lessons are characterized. Some of the major barriers listed can be classified as teachers’ personal attitude and educational environment characteristics as well as the inconsistency between the summative assessment of knowledge and understanding and modern trends aimed at developing students’ high order thinking skills. The author’s considerations as for possibilities of using active learning methods in the format of blended learning and peculiarities of reflective tasks in the Maritime English course are also presented. It is pointed out that the faculty who decide to implement active learning methods should come to their own understanding of this strategy in the conditions of a training course for specific purposes.

The article deals with the analysis of the phenomenon of the corporate culture of the university from the students' point of view. Purpose. The aim is to establish the interconnection between the psychological safeness of the educational environment and the students' perceptions of the corporate culture of the university. Methods. In the study, to diagnose students' perceptions about the corporate culture of the university, the typology of K. Cameron and R. Quinn OCAI has been applied, which is built on two dimensions: flexibility, dynamism – stability, control; internal integration, unity – external orientation, competition. These dimensions form four types of corporate culture: bureaucratic, clan, market and adhocratic. To diagnose the psychological safeness of the educational environment, the questionnaire by I. O. Bayeva has been applied, which measures the significant characteristics of the educational environment and the index of satisfaction with them on the part of the educational process subjects. Results. It was determined that, in general, the hierarchical type of corporate culture prevails in the group of test students, this testifies a low level of communication among the student community, superficial relationships between students, strict hierarchy and discipline. The indicators of clan culture increase in the desired state of the university’s corporate culture compared to the assessments of its real state, that is, the students imagine the student community in the future as unique by its characteristics, emphasize that the style of management should be characterized by the encouragement of teamwork, coherence in collective decision making; maintain mutual trust and frankness. Conclusions. It has been shown that the degree of satisfaction with the characteristics of the university's educational environment in the test sample of students is above average, the significant characteristics are relationships with teachers and other students, respectful attitude towards students, preserving personal dignity, the possibility to ask for help. It has been established the interconnection between the satisfaction of the psychological safeness of the educational environment and assessments of the corporate culture of the university on the part of students, namely, the assessment of corporate culture as hierarchical with severe demands reduces the students' sense of psychological safeness; the assessments of corporate culture as open, democratic, creative increase the indicators of psychological safeness.

Educational Environment of the Modern School in the Aspects of Learning Factors, School Climate and Education Paradigms

The article deals with the research data on the current realia of educational environment in school perceived by pupils, their parents and teachers as well as their expectations related to educational environment of the Good school. On the ground of questionnaire survey data, pedagogical and psychological factors of learning and school climate as perceived by the respondents are analysed; characteristics of educational environment are revealed in the aspects of the impact, interaction and learning paradigms.

Burnout prevalence and correlates amongst Colombian dental students: the STRESSCODE study.

Accumulating evidence amongst dental students indicates an alarming prevalence of stress, which can precipitate the development of burnout--a state of mental or physical exhaustion and disengagement. Understanding individual and educational correlates of burnout is necessary for its prevention. The aims of this study were to determine the prevalence of burnout amongst a large sample of Colombian dental undergraduates and investigate its psychosocial and educational correlates. Survey data collected from 5647 students participating in the Stress in Colombian Dental Education study were used for this analysis. Burnout was measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS). Covariates included participants' socio-demographic characteristics and perceived stress, as well as educational environment factors. Descriptive, bivariate and multivariate methods based on multilevel mixed-effects logistic regression modelling were used for data analysis. Seven per cent of the students surveyed met the criteria for burnout. The prevalence of burnout was higher amongst upper classes, older and married students, those who reported not having passed all required courses and not having dentistry as their first career choice, as well as students in public institutions and those with large class sizes. Moreover, students' perceived stress in the domains of workload and self-efficacy was significantly and positively associated with burnout. Both personal and educational environment characteristics were found to be associated with burnout. Irrespective of these factors, students' perceived stress with regard to workload and self-efficacy was a strong influence on burnout and its alleviation may be a promising avenue to prevent psychological morbidity.

Mathematics learning outcomes of IX–X Grades Students are Associated with the Characteristics of Educational Environment

This paper presents a study carried out for the purpose to highlight the characteristics of social-psychological conditions of educational environment associated with higher math learning outcomes of the IX–Xth form students. The study obtained data allowed to determine teachers’ teaching and learning methods and techniques are related with mathematics learning outcomes, and how they are determined by the nature of mathematics teachers’ communication with students. Higher mathematics learning outcomes are associated with such teachers’ teaching and learning methods and techniques: in the IXth grade – the checking and assessing of classmates’ work, check oneself class work or home work in the group of students, working with a computer at home; in the Xth grade-presentation of elements of the mathematics history. Higher mathematics learning out comes in grade IXth are related with teachers’ attention to student’s interests and emotions in the classroom, with listening to the end, when they are answering, the teachers’ assistance when the students requested it, believing in benevolence and kindness of students, pleas ant interaction with the students, the promotion of students to be dutiful; in the grade X-teachers’ attention to student well-being and interests.
