Analysis of the Selection of the Best Household Ceramics Using the Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) Method

Rapid advances in communication and information technology due to globalization have had a significant impact on a number of industries, including the industrial sector. The industry is taking great advantage of the capabilities of this technology to search, store, distribute and present information. The ceramic sector in Indonesia looks increasingly promising every year. One type of building material that functions to cover the floor and beautify its appearance is ceramic. When choosing ceramics, consumers become confused because of the availability of various brands (vendors) with different themes and quality. When deciding on product quality, a decision support system can be implemented to offer a structured evaluation that assists stakeholders in the business and consumers in assessing high-quality ceramic options. DSS The complex proportional assessment method, or COPRAS, is used in system design. In improving the accuracy and efficiency of decision making, the COPRAS approach can evaluate several options and estimate them based on their utility level when attribute values ??are expressed in intervals. Based on the findings of this research, the application of the COPRAS method in the decision-making process to determine the best household ceramics can be used in selecting the best household ceramics by collecting data on ceramic criteria and the alternative used is the type of ceramic. The weights obtained for each criterion are then normalized which are then used to determine the Ui for each alternative, so that based on the results of this research the best household ceramics are obtained, namely Redhorse type ceramics with a Ui value of 100%, Fortuna type with a Ui value of 99.27%. , Prato type with a Ui value of 98.82%, Crystal type with a Ui value of 98.71%, Mulia type with a Ui value of 88.50%, Vancouver type with a Ui value of 88.24%, Murano type with a Ui value of 84.97% and the Virginia type with a Ui value of 79.77%.

Drying of a Clayey Ceramic Flat Plate: Simulation Studies Using the Galerkin-Based Integral Method

The ceramics sector is crucial to the global economy. This research is devoted to studying the drying process of ceramic parts with arbitrary shapes based on Fick’s second law of diffusion and energy conservation. Herein, the mathematical procedure to obtain the exact solutions of the model equations using the Galerkin-based integral method is provided. In the mathematical modeling are considered constant properties and equilibrium conditions at the surface of the material. Emphasis is given to clay ceramic flat plate. Analytical results of the average moisture content, local temperature, and moisture content and temperature fields within the ceramic parts are presented, followed by an in-depth discussion.

Expansion of Japanese Ceramic Industry in Manchuria and Colonial Exploitation in the Early 20th Century

Towards the end of the Qing Dynasty and into the early Republic of China, the ceramics industry, a vital component of China’s economy, faced stagnation. In response, the central government embarked on modernization efforts to rejuvenate the industry, achieving tangible progress such as establishing modern systems through the Porcelain Company. Despite these efforts, Japan aggressively exported goods to China, aiming to expand its trade and dominate the Chinese market. Additionally, the ceramics department within the central laboratory of the South Manchurian Railway Company was established to mass-produce ceramics for heavy chemical use, utilizing resources from Manchuria to meet the substantial material demands for foreign invasions. Furthermore, modern Japanese apprenticeships were extended to Chinese laborers to meet the daily ceramic needs of Japanese residents in the northeastern region. Thus, on the surface, the ceramics industry in the Northeast appeared to have expanded in various aspects.The Chinese ceramics industry underwent significant changes in production scale, distribution, technology, and infrastructure. However, these developments were not the result of natural growth but rather arose from the allocation of raw materials and products essential for Japan’s ceramics sector. Moreover, they were fueled by the harsh exploitation of laborers in the northeastern ceramics industry, serving as a key aspect of Japan’s broader strategy of mass colonization.

IMPACTOS AMBIENTALES Y GOBERNANZA DE LOS RECURSOS NATURALES EN LA PRODUCCIÓN DE CERÁMICA ROJA

The red ceramic industries are the main suppliers of raw materials for civil construction in Brazil. Thus, this article aims to analyze the environmental impacts and governance of this production in the municipality of Paudalho-PE. It becomes extremely important due to the need to understand the relationship between environmental degradation and the various interests of the actors involved in the production process (public, private and civil society), thus contributing to favoring the environmental management of the segment. To this end, field research was carried out in impacted areas, interviews with employees, union representatives and local residents. The technique of constellation analysis was used to understand the governance and existing conflicts between the elements of the ceramic sector, together with the mixed method, as it considers the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the phenomena. It is observed that the governance processes in the territory are partial or non-existent, however the integration of direct producers and the controllers of the production process of the potteries have asymmetrical power relations, where profit and market interests predominate to the detriment of labor rights and environmental. Therefore, governance as a theoretical and practical tool contributes to the sustainable production of red ceramic industries in compliance with legal aspects.

Ceramic Product Design Based on Chinese Festival Element

In order to improve cultural and artistic value, the study investigates the significance of incorporating Chinese festivals into digital ceramic design. The integration of Chinese festivals into digital ceramics is a way to celebrate and preserve traditional Chinese culture while communicating historical and cultural significance, according to a thematic analysis. This combination provides a forum for intercultural communication and creativity. Additionally, by enhancing artistic and cultural elements, combining Chinese festivals with digital ceramic product designs has synergistic value. With ceramics, this method allows for creative expression, storytelling, and cultural heritage preservation. Tradition and technology work together to create distinctive, eye-catching digital ceramic works that encapsulate the spirit of Chinese festivals while also preserving and advancing cultural traditions. Essentially, the study highlights how Chinese festivals can be incorporated into digital ceramic design. It demonstrates how this integration fosters creativity and cultural preservation by bridging the gap between tradition and technology. Similar to how symbols are essential to ceramic design, fusing traditional and modern aesthetics makes ceramic products more appealing and allows for deeper cultural significance. In order to bridge the gaps in Chinese ceramic design and ultimately advance Chinese culture and ceramics through innovative design, the study emphasises the necessity of semiotic approaches and thematic holiday-themed ceramic designs. This study advances the knowledge of how traditional culture can enhance modern ceramic design, creating a bond with consumers and preserving the health of China's ceramics sector.

Determinants of Effective Tax Rate: Empirical Evidence From Selected Manufacturing Industries in Bangladesh

Purpose: The objective of this study is to conduct an empirical investigation of financial and operational firm specific factors that have an impact on the effective tax rate (ETR) for Bangladeshi manufacturing firms operating in a variety of industries. Method: The study solely focused on three different production industries: Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals, Engineering, and Ceramics. At least six years’ set of panel data have been collected from each industry between 2016 and 2021 in order to conduct an analysis of the panel corrected standard error model (PCSE). Thus, the PCSE model is used to conduct an analysis on a total of 265 observations derived from 44 different company listed in DSE. Findings: Out of eight financial and operational factors, firm size and profitability has a significant positive correlation with ETR in practically every sector separately and collectively. The findings are supported by political cost theory that suggests large firms have to pay more taxes due to political attention. One exception has been found regarding Ceramics sector where firm size has insignificant negative impact on ETR. This is reinforced by the political power theory, which states that politically influential corporations are less likely to voluntarily pay taxes because of the incentives provided by the power they wield in politics. On the other hand, Interest coverage ratio, Interest to sales ratio, capital intensity, firm age leverage has also significant impact on the effective tax rate in both model ETR1 and ETR2 differently across sectors. This study also concludes that there is variation among industry to industry and little bit of year indicators. Novelty: The study investigates the factors of manufacturing companies empirically and contributes to the variety of taxation issues among various manufacturing sectors. According to the authors’ best knowledge, there has been very little research on taxes, hence this study is a completely new contribution to Bangladesh’s manufacturing sector. Análise de uma cadeia de abastecimento do setor cerâmico: um olhar sobre os processos de negócios

Abstract Given the importance of structuring organizations in supply chains as a mechanism for competitiveness, as well as process management for the good operational performance of these chains, this article aims to map and analyze the business processes of a supply chain of the ceramic sector located in northeastern Brazil. To achieve the proposed objective, Lambert, Cooper, and Pagh’s (LCP) model of supply chain management is adopted, which comprises, within its analysis dimensions, the mapping of the dimensional structure of the chain, its processes, and management components. As a result, it was possible to characterize the configuration of the chain under analysis, highlighting the company's proximity focused on the upstream direction of the chain and, consequently, the complexity of the supply operations. Furthermore, based on the problems and inefficiencies identified during the mapping of the supply processes, this study proposes suggestions for changes and improvements to the ceramic sector's supply chain analyzed. By providing a detailed analysis of the dimensional structure of the chain, its processes, and managerial components, this article contributes to the continuous improvement of organizations by providing a practical discussion on the structuring of supply processes and emphasizing the importance of overcoming the identified inefficiencies.

Peer Effects on Capital Structure Decisions: Empirical Evidence from Selected Listed Companies of DSE

In the dynamic landscape of corporate finance, the effect of social dynamics on decision-making processes is a subject that deserves closer examination. This study attempts to capture effects of peer firms on capital structure decisions on listed firms of DSE from Food & Allied, Power & Fuel, Cement and Ceramic sectors during 2014-15 to 2021-22. We have used industry median leverage to measure peer firm’s capital structure decision. Results of Fixed effects model using a panel of 280 firm-year data suggest absence of peers’ effects on capital structure decisions of firm. The key variable of interest – industry median Total Debt ratio (TDR), Short term debt ratio (STDR) and long term debt ratio (LTDR) ratio have positive but statistically insignificant effects on firm’s TDR, STDR and LTDR respectively. Consequently, this study rejects the peers’ influence on capital structure decisions, concluding that capital structure is independent of peer dynamics. The finding further reveals cash generating efficiency and liquidity to be negatively associated with leverage. Asset growth rate exhibits significant positive association with leverage. Firms possessing more tangible assets prefer long term debt. Debt servicing capacity has significant positive effects on STDR. Total assets growth rate is positively associated with debt. The findings suggest that Bangladeshi managers emphasize on firm-specific aspects when making capital structure decisions. They should prioritize the firm’s strengths, opportunities, risks, weaknesses, conditions, and strategy over peer decisions.

Factors Associated with SARS-CoV-2 Infection Evaluated by Antibody Response in a Sample of Workers from the Emilia-Romagna Region, Northern Italy.

Factors associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection risk are still debated. This case-control study aims to investigate the possible relationship between SARS-CoV-2 infection, evaluated through antibody response, and the main sociodemographic, occupational, clinical-anamnestic, and biochemical factors in a population of Modena province (Northern Italy), mainly workers. Both workers who voluntarily joined the screening campaign proposed by companies and self-referred individuals who underwent serological testing were enrolled. Subjects with antibody positivity were recruited as cases (n = 166) and subjects tested negative (n = 239) as controls. A questionnaire on sociodemographic, occupational, and clinical data was administered through telephone interviews. Serum zinc/iron/copper/chromium/nickel, vitamins D/B12, folates, triglycerides, and LDL/HDL/total cholesterol were measured. Cases lived more often in urban areas (61.8% vs. 57%). Cases and controls did not differ significantly by working macrocategories, but the percentage of workers in the ceramic sector was higher among cases. Low adherence to preventive measures in the workplace was more frequent among seropositives. Folate concentration was significantly lower among cases. Therefore, adequate folate levels, living in rural areas, and good adherence to preventive strategies seem protective against infection. Workers in the ceramic sector seem to be at greater risk; specific factors involved are not defined, but preventive interventions are needed.

Recent efforts and advances towards sustainable ceramics made from textile wastes- A review

Environmental and public health problems have been linked to the accumulation of waste products from a variety of industrial and energy production operations. The way that trash is recycled is where ceramics really stand out. Research is being conducted to determine whether or not “certain wastes and industrial by-products, such as fly ash (FA), rice husk ash (RHA), blast furnace slag (BFS), sludge, glass waste, polished tile waste, eggshell, textiles and others, might be used in the production of ceramics. According to the findings of the research, there is a great possibility for the ceramic sector to use wastes as a substitute for natural raw materials in the production process. Converting waste products into valuable ceramics is an environmentally responsible solution to address problems associated with waste management.

Chemometric-driven quantification of construction and demolition waste using Raman spectroscopy and SWIR: Enhancing sustainability in the ceramic sector

Construction and demolition wastes (CDW) face low recycling rates due to the absence of reliable and industrially feasible quantification method for valorization. This study explores quantifying mixed construction materials through their homogenization, a novel proposal, and chemometric modeling. The problem materials were homogenized in known proportions for the acquisition of a statistical number of chemical data. Short-wave infrared and Raman spectroscopy (applied here for the first time) provided data for two independent models. Principal Component Analysis and Improved Kernel Partial Least Square Discriminant Analysis were employed for model construction. These models were successfully applied to a real CDW sample from a Spanish management plant, yielding comparable results. This cost-effective methodology allows the quantification of stony aggregates within CDW, enhancing their recycling potential in the ceramic sector. Addressing the scarcity of reliable CDW quantification procedures, this approach and the use of Raman technique hold promise for advancing CDW valorization and sustainability.

Investigation of Defects Occurring in the Casting Shop Process of Ceramic Sanitaryware on the Final Product

When the export values of ceramic sanitaryware in Türkiye are analyzed, it is seen that the data for the year 2022 of ~660 million dollars continues to increase. In the sector, which reaches an annual average increase of 100 million dollars, the amount of production as well as the design demands change and shape the market. The most important difficulty factors in design are due to the fact that the products in the sector have large sizes, complex shapes and the most human-made production stages. When these factors are compared with other ceramic sectors, it is revealed that although industrialization has increased in the production of ceramic sanitaryware, the lack of production amount and the excess of faults are among the biggest problems. Glaze faults are the leading faults observed in the final product, and since this problem is not recyclable, it harms the ceramic sanitaryware industry in terms of cost. In this study, the glaze faults reflected in the final glazed products originating from the casting shop stage, which attracts attention in this field due to its large size and whiteness and there is not much data for the vitreous ware industry in the literature, have been studied. In the study, which was carried out with the aim of detecting and eliminating some faults in industrial production and creating data for the literature, faults arising from mechanical evenings used in classical and pressure casting benches and material residues used in retouching processes were determined. These faults were produced on the basis of the laboratory and the characterization of the glazed faulty products was made. It is concluded that production losses can be reduced by eliminating these problems, consequently increasing quality and productivity.

Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) Works in the Stock Market of Bangladesh: Empirical Evidence from Sector-Wise Index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)

The present study examines the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) in Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) with special orientation to 10 different sector indexes. They are such as Banking sector index, Energy sector index, Ceramic sector index, Food sector index, General Insurance sector index, Life Insurance sector index, Cement sector index, Leasing and Finance sector index, Textile sector index, ICT sector index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE). Data were gathered from the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) website (www.cse.combd) for the time frame of July 2016 to June 2019. From Bangladesh’s central bank website (www.centralbank.combd), the risk-free return (Rf) has been gathered. The study uses year-end closing price and dividend for 92 listed companies. The expected return is measured through Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), which is developed by William Sharpe (1964). For analysis the data, Mean, percentage, ANOVA, ‘t’ test are used as statistical tools. Descriptive and Regression analysis have been done to find the results. The study is only confined to CSE. So, there is an avenue for further researchers to add Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in their research project. This approach is applicable to both investors and issuers when exchanging shares of securities on the stock market. The study concludes that the CAPM is not applicable to the 10 distinct sector indices of the CSE because, at a typical level of risk, the gap between expected and actual returns is quite large. Hence, CAPM was tested separately for each year of the five years period and the results in the mentioned tables did not support the CAPM applicability.

Underdiagnosis of silicosis revealed by reinterpretation of chest radiographs in Thai ceramic workers.

In Thailand, epidemiological data on silicosis in the ceramic sector is lacking and the underdiagnosis of silicosis remains an extensive concern. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the prevalence of silicosis and the extent of underdiagnosis among Thai ceramic workers by reinterpreting chest radiographs previously taken by a health check-up unit. This retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted on ceramic workers undergoing health surveillance using chest radiographs in one ceramic factory in September 2018. All chest radiographs were done retrospectively, then were reinterpreted by professional readers specially trained in using the ILO International Classification of Radiograph of Pneumoconioses (ILO/ICRP). Chest radiographs with a profusion of 1/1 or greater were suggestive of silicosis. Out of the 244 participants undergoing chest radiography, the prevalence of silicosis was 2.9%. Overall, the mean age of the participants was 41 years, and 72.1% were female. Among individuals with silicosis, the median age was 43 years; 71.4% were male; the average employment duration was 26.9 years; while the male sex was the significant variable associated with silicosis with an odds ratio of 7.01 (95% confidence interval 1.31 to 37.4). Regarding the underdiagnosis, the health check-up unit failed to recognize all individuals with silicosis, and could not detect any radiographic chest abnormalities in 57.1% of those with silicosis. Despite the low prevalence of silicosis among Thai ceramic workers, this finding indicates ongoing exposure to silica in the ceramic industry. In addition, a significant proportion of the silicosis cases were underrecognized. Future efforts to prevent underdiagnosis and improve an occupational health surveillance service in Thailand are needed.

CONCENTRAÇÃO REGIONAL DA INDÚSTRIA DA CERÂMICA VERMELHA NA PARAÍBA, BRASIL (2006 – 2020)

This work analyzed the regional concentration of the red ceramic sector, from 2006 to 2020. It carried out a statewide analysis of the sector's conjuncture, its relation to firewood consumption and the regional concentration was determined through the indicators: Concentration Ratio CR(k ), Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), Theil entropy (E) and the Gini coefficient (G). The results showed that Borborema has the highest number of red ceramic companies when compared to the other mesoregions of the state. The CR(k) rated with moderately low concentration. The HHI for municipalities and microregions showed low concentration. The municipal, micro-regional and meso-regional E indices of Paraíba indicated deconcentration. G showed weak to average inequality for municipalities and microregions and weak inequality for mesoregions. Thus, it was concluded that the ceramic sector in Paraíba is not concentrated and that the supply is associated with raw material stocks and the energy vector of firewood.

Development of Red Ceramic Pigments with Perovskite Structure Prepared through a Traditional Route

Solid solutions of ceramic pigments of red shade have been synthesized based on YAlO3 perovskite structure doped with chromium by means of conventional synthesis; that is, the “ceramic route”. To optimize this synthesis, an emphasis has been made on the study of stoichiometry, calcination conditions and mineralizer incorporation. Various studies have demonstrated the high stability of perovskite structures, which ensures stable coloration at high temperatures. This is a highly important factor in the ceramic sector, given the scarcity of red glazes functional at temperatures close to those required of porcelain stoneware and their environmental constraints. Such a limitation makes it impossible in the European community to manufacture using toxic materials such as Se and Cd (cadmium sulfoselenide) that offer interesting colors at low temperatures. Pigments have been synthesized within the Y1−xCrxAlO3, YCrxAl1−xO3 and Y1−xAl1−yCrx+yO3 chromium-doped systems in molar ratios between n = 0.01 molar and n = 0.10 molar. The pigments obtained have been characterized by X-ray diffraction to identify the crystalline phases responsible for the shade; that is, the formation of the perovskite crystalline structure YAlO3 responsible for the red shade, together with lateral phases of garnet Y3Al5O12 of lower intensity. Visible ultraviolet spectrophotometry shows absorption bands corresponding to Cr(III) in octahedral position and the appearance of Cr(IV) in both octahedral and tetrahedral positions. The morphology of the samples was studied using a scanning electron microscope, obtaining information from the secondary and back scattered electrons. The viability of its use in ceramic glazes was verified after applying them mixed at 4% by weight in a glaze to an industrial porous single-firing cycle, collecting the L*a*b* chromatic coordinates using a visible ultraviolet spectrophotometer based on the CIE L*a*b* system, giving rise to red colorations.

Kırşehir Bölgesi Mermerlerinin Mikronize Kalsit Olarak Kullanılabilirliğinin Araştırılması

Bu çalışma kapsamında Kırşehir bölgesinde potansiyel mikronize kalsit sahalarının belirlenmesi ve bu sahaların gelecekte kağıt, boya, seramik, plastik, tarım ve hayvancılık gibi farklı endüstri kollarına kazandırılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında 7 farklı bölgeden alınan örnekler üzerinde mineralojik petrografik, jeokimyasal ve renk analizleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Jeokimyasal analizlerde temin edilen örneklerin CaCO3,SiO2 ve Fe2O3 gibi değerleri, renk analizleri ile de beyazlık dereceleri belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre MK-1, MK-2, MK-3, MK-4, MK-5, MK-6 bölgelerinin boya, kağıt ve plastik sektörü için gerekli değerleri sağladığı görülmüştür. Ancak seramik sektörü için özellikle CaCO3 değerleri ile Fe2O3 ve MgO gibi safsızlıkları dikkate alındığında, gerekli standartlarda olmadıkları belirlenmiştir. Bölgeler beyazlık değerleri açısından değerlendirildiğinde MK-7 bölgesinin sadece tarım ve hayvancılık sektörüne uygunluğu görülmüş olup diğer bölgelerin ise boya, kağıt, plastik ve seramik sektörlerinin kriterini sağladığı belirlenmiştir.

Investigating zirconium flows and stocks in China: A dynamic material flow analysis

Zirconium (Zr) is one important scarce metal and has been widely used in both civil and emerging industries. Its supply-demand balance and material flows are crucial to the development of China's green economy. However, no studies focus on Zr resource use in China, a major consumer of this resource. This study traces the anthropogenic cycle of zirconium by accounting Zr flows and stocks in the production, processing, consumption, and disposal stages in China from 2005 to 2020. The results of this study show: (1) China is the largest Zr consumer in the world and has been a net Zr importer from a life cycle perspective; (2) China's domestic in-use Zr stock increased rapidly, reaching 249.49 Gg in 2020, about 3.5 times the amount of 2005; (3) ceramic sector consumed 717.12 kilotons (Kt) of Zr (42% of the total yearly Zr consumption) in 2020, while this figure was 94.29 Kt (56% of the total yearly Zr consumption) in 2005. Zr consumption in the chemical sector increased from 12.26 Kt in 2005 to 157.77 Kt in 2020, with an annual growth rate of 9%; (4) The total recycled Zr reached only accounting for 7% of the total cumulative Zr supply. These results suggest that China should not only explore zirconium mines domestically, but also seek high-grade zirconium ores in other countries. In addition, policies are proposed to promote Zr recycling and efficient utilization from the perspective of trade, technological development and economic feasibility.

Disruption in Resource-Intensive Supply Chains: Reshoring and Nearshoring as Strategies to Enable Them to Become More Resilient and Sustainable

Disruption in many supply chains has shown the vulnerability of global supply networks, especially resource-intensive ones, due to the simultaneous effects of pandemics and geopolitical crises. Reshoring and nearshoring strategies are the possible responses of manufacturing companies to disruptions in order to adapt to unforeseen events. The supply chain for the Italian ceramic sector, which is characterized by a high intensity of natural and energy resource consumption and a sourcing system with a high geopolitical risk, is examined in this study. The functional decomposition technique was used to analyze the supply chain; then, three scenarios were developed as potential remedies for the unexpected termination of Ukrainian plastic clay supply. The study also showed that complex issues require multifaceted analysis approaches, which is why a transdisciplinary approach was chosen. In addition, the analysis of the ceramic industry showed that nearshoring and reshoring strategies can reduce supply risk and have a positive impact on the environment. The study also showed how bringing extraction sources closer to factories significantly reduces CO2 emissions to the atmosphere from transportation. The main contribution of this paper is the analysis of the complexity of supply chains in times of disruption, configuring reshoring and nearshoring options through transdisciplinarity.

BALANCE BETWEEN BIOMASS SUPPLY AND DEMAND IN THE RED CERAMICS SECTOR OF RIO GRANDE DO NORTE, BRAZIL

Illegal deforestation in Caatinga sometimes corresponds to supplying the local energy demand, even though legalized firewood options are available on the market. Studies show that the red ceramic industry is the largest consumer of firewood in Rio Grande do Norte (RN), Brazil. Considering the firewood from the Sustainable Forest Management Plans as a viable alternative to supplying this sector, the objective was to analyze the current offer of forest biomass in RN, in line with the demand for this resource in the industry of red ceramics. The number, area and volume of the current management plans were obtained by the agency responsible for state forest management. The Annual Operational Plans were analyzed to acquire the amount of wood available in one year. The survey found 22 sustainable management plans with authorization for exploration valid for the year of 2019, distributed in 20 cities in the state, adding up to an area of 988.99 hectares. A current supply of available firewood for the energy of 26,223.13 tMS.year -1 was calculated. It is noticed that the supply of firewood from the management plans meets only 5.5% of the energy demand in the state ceramics sector. In contrast, the potential supply of firewood available in Caatinga remnants of the state exceeds the sector's demand by more than six times. It is concluded that there is a need for reinforcement in the governmental sphere, to propose measures that stimulate the use of the forest resource in a legalized manner in proportion to the current consumption.
