Essential Integration of eHRM 4.0 Approach, IT Infrastructure and CEO Support to Support Supply Chain Performance in Small-Scale Logistics Companies

INTRODUCTION: IT infrastructure resources in large-sized companies have evolved into large-scale intelligent enterprise systems due to the emergence of Big Data, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence technologies.OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of eHRM implementation and the availability of IT infrastructure on top management/CEO support and the performance of logistics companies in Semarang city. METHODS: This study uses a quantitative method with an analytical tool using SEM-PLS. The sampling method for this study used a purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 120 samples. RESULTS: IT infrastructure has a significant effect on top management support in logistics companies, the role of eHRM has a significant effect on top management support, the role of eHRM has a significant effect on CEO support, eHRM has a significant effect on company performance, IT infrastructure has a significant effect on company performance, support CEO has a significant effect on company performance, IT infrastructure has a significant effect on company performance, and the role of eHRM has no significant effect on company performance.CONCLUSION: IT Infrastructure and CEO Support influence Supply Chain Performance in Small-Scale Logistics Companies.

물류 안전분위기의 결정요인과 물류 안전행동의 관계

Purpose - The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of management value, direct supervisor, communication, education and training, and safety regulation, which are determinants of the logistics safety climate, on logistics safety behaviors such as safety compliance and safety participation, and to present implications for improving logistics safety.
 Design/Methodology/Approach - A research model was established based on previous studies on safety climate and safety behavior, and research hypotheses were presented. In addition, a survey was conducted for employees of logistics companies. Using SPSS 24.0, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were performed to analyze the relationship between the logistics safety climate and logistics safety behavior.
 Findings - As a result of the analysis, the determinants of the logistics safety climate, such as management value, direct supervisor, communication, education and training, and safety regulation, all had a significant effect on logistics safety compliance. Direct supervisor, communication, and safety regulation had a meaningful effect on logistics safety participation, but management value and education and training did not have a significant effect.
 Research Implications - In order to improve logistics safety performance, the CEO's interest and support for logistics safety, safety practices of direct supervisor, active company-wide communication, continuous education and training, and the institutionalization of logistics safety regulations are necessary.

Research on the Introduction of a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) System in Small Accounting Firms in Taiwan

This study explores the characteristics that influence the success factors of accounting firms in the introduction of a RPA system. The RPA system success factors used in this paper are based on the measurements of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Information System Success Model (ISS). In this paper, a questionnaire survey method was used, and a total of 140 questionnaires were distributed to 70 small accounting firms in Taiwan. The results of this study showed that three characteristic factors—male, higher familiarity with the system and high CEO support—were significantly positively correlated with the success factors of the RPA system in accounting firms. Due to resource constraints, small- and medium-sized accounting firms have gone through a more difficult journey of digital transformation than the Big Four. Therefore, research on digital transformation with small- and medium-sized firms as samples is a topic worthy of attention. The research conclusions of this paper can provide a reference for the accounting digital transformation strategies of the accounting industry and educational institutions.

The effects of CEO activism: Partisan consumer behavior and its duration

AbstractResearch SummaryCEOs increasingly engage in activism on controversial social and political issues that do not directly affect their core business. Simultaneously, the general public is increasingly politically polarized. We examine how CEOs' support for gun control after two mass shootings differentially affected the behavior of liberal and conservative consumers and the persistence of these effects. Using mobile phone location data to measure store‐level visits, we find (a) consumer visits to stores decreased by 3%; (b) this decrease was asymmetric: visits in the most conservative counties decreased by about 5% but did not change in the most liberal counties; and (c) these effects dissipated within 10 weeks after activism. Our results highlight the strategic implications for executives pressured to take stances on controversial issues.Managerial SummaryWe study how consumers respond to CEO support for gun control, and how consumers' partisan views influence their behavior. Visits to the stores of several major retailers declined about 3% in the 4 weeks after their CEOs supported expanding background checks for gun purchases. In the most liberal counties, visits did not change following CEO support for gun control, while in the most conservative counties visits declined about 5%. Hence, the reaction of liberal consumers did not counteract the reaction of conservative consumers. We find, however, that these effects dissipated within 10 weeks; as a result, retailers whose CEOs supported gun control did not experience any long‐term, net decrease in sales despite the short‐term sales decrease in conservative counties.

The Effects of Smart Factory Operational Strategies and System Management on the Innovative Performance of Small- and Medium-Sized Manufacturing Firms

This study aims to determine the effects of smart factory system management and operational strategies on the innovative performance of small- and medium-sized manufacturing firms. To this end, we administered an empirical survey to 222 hands-on workers who operate smart factories in small- and medium-sized Korean firms. The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling and the results showed that the enterprise resource planning (ERP), quality management, ethical management, and productivity management systems had positive effects on innovative performance. The effect of operational strategies on innovative performance was not verified. Consequently, small- and medium-sized firms should focus on establishing ERP systems, which lead to system establishment, standardization of work processes, CEO support and attention, and increase user recognition levels for raising innovative performance.

A Study on effect of Customer Intergration & Market Orientation on Management Performance through SCM Performance

As globalization has been progressed, companies faced a situation in which it was difficult to secure global competitiveness only with their internal management systems. To overcome this, Supply Chain Management (SCM) emerged, which optimizes the whole supply chain process from suppliers to demand companies. In this study, it was analyzed that the effects of customer integration among the integration factors of SCM, and market orientation among the strategic orientations on management performances such as non-financial performance and financial performance through a mediating role of flexibility. At this time, it was analyzed whether CEO's support has a moderating effect on the influence of the market orientation. As a result of analysis, the customer integration was found to have an indirect effect on the non-financial performance and the financial performance through the flexibility. The market orientation was found to have a direct effect on the non-financial performance and at the same time, indirectly affected it through the flexibility. In addition, it was shown that more the level of CEO's support, higher the influence of the market orientation. This moderating effect had an indirect effect on the financial performance. Based on the above findings, various implications for improving management performance were proposed. This study suggests that investments in computerization such as ERP and smart factories can improve supply chain management performance and ultimately improve customer satisfaction and financial performance.

The joint effects of IT resources and CEO support in IT assimilation

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to explore the joint effects of different types of IT resources and top management support. Especially, the authors attempt to mainly examine a negative synergy or substitution relationship between IT infrastructure resources and CEO support, and a positive synergy or complementary relationship between IT human resources and CEO support among the large-sized enterprises.Design/methodology/approachA research model that integrates IT infrastructure resources, IT human resources, CEO support and the degree of usage of IT for business objectives (i.e. IT business spanning capability) is developed. Based on a sample of 112 large-sized enterprises, partial least squares is used to analyze the research model.FindingsWhereas the positive moderating role of CEO support in the effectiveness of IT human resources is insignificant, CEO support and IT infrastructure resources have a substitution relationship in predicting IT business spanning capability. Furthermore, the results can explain under which conditions IT infrastructure resources insignificantly or significantly affect IT business spanning capability in large-sized enterprises. Specially, IT infrastructure resources significantly affect IT business spanning capability only when CEO support is low. Thus, in the presence of high CEO support, IT executives in large-sized enterprises should prioritize developing highly effective IT resources, such as IT human resources.Originality/valueThis paper highlights the joint effects of two critical IT resource types (i.e. IT infrastructure and IT human resources) and CEO support in the IT assimilation process among the large-sized enterprises, ultimately contributing to information systems theories and practices.

A Study on Antecedents and Consequences of Flexible Work arrangements: CEO’s Gender Equitable Support, Family Friendly Culture, Organizational Performance, Turnover Intention

최근 많은 조직이 유연근무제를 도입하고 있는 상황에서 근로자와 조직 모두의 이익이 충족되는 제도의 성공적 정착이 필요한 시점이다. 본 연구는 유연근무제가 조직효과성에 미치는 역동적 메커니즘에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 구체적으로 CEO의 성평등 지원이 유연근무제 활성화와 가족 친화문화에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 이러한 조직적 특성이 근로자가 인식하는 조직성과와 이직의 도에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지 탐색해보고자 하였다. 이를 검증하기 위해 국내 기업의 545명의 자료를 활용하여 구조방정식 모형을 활용하였다. 연구결과, CEO의 성평등 지원이 높을수록 근로자가 유연근무제가 활성화되고 있다고 지각하였고, 가족친화문화의 수준도 높은 것으로 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 유연근무제 활성화 정도는 가족친화문화에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 그러나 유연근무제 활성화 정도는 조직성과와 이직의도에 직접적으로는 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못하였고, 가족친화문화만이 조직성과에 대한 인식을 높이고 이직의도를 낮추는 것으로 나타났다. 구조방정식 모형은 유연근무제 활성화와 조직성과, 이직의도 간의 관계에서 가족친화문 화의 매개효과가 유의하다는 것을 보여주어서 유연근무제가 조직성과와 이직의도에 미치는 영향은 간접적으로 확인되었다. 이러한 분석결과에 대한 시사점 및 한계점은 논의에 제시하였다.Working hours and work-life balance for employees are considered one of the most important issue in the organization these days. Many Companies are adopting flexible work arrangements in response to this situation. This study examines the mechanism through which flexible work arrangements affect organizational effectiveness. Specifically, we investigate the role of CEO support for gender equity on family friendly culture and the utilization of flexible work arrangement. We also investigate how the three variables jointly affect perceived effectiveness of organizational performance and turnover intention of employees. To empirically test the relationship, data were collected from 545 respondents who worked in 7 Korean companies. We applied hierarchical regression analysis. The results showed that CEO’s support of gender equity increases both the utilization of flexible work arrangements and family friendly culture. Futhermore, the utilization of flexible work arrangements increased family friendly culture. Finally, we found the double mediation effect of flexible work arrangement and family friendly culture where the effect of CEO’s support of gender equity on perceive organizational performance and turnover was mediated by the increased use of flexible work arragement and by family friendly culture. Managerial implications and limitations are presented in the discussion.

HR professionals' use of influence in the effective implementation of HR practices

This study examines the use of influence tactics by HR professionals to increase the likelihood that HR practices (HRPs) are effectively implemented. We use logistic regression to test the effect of HR professionals' use of both soft and hard influence tactics on HRP implementation effectiveness in a sample of 82 successful and 74 failed implementation processes. The results show that HR professionals are more likely to see the HRPs they develop effectively implemented when they (1) involve line managers in the development of HRPs (consultation), (2) look for credible figures within the organisation that may publicly endorse and support the new practice (coalition), and (3) do not put too much pressure on HRP users with deadlines and reminders (pressure). While soft tactics such as rational persuasion, inspirational appeals or ingratiation are very much used by HR professionals, our results show that they do not have a significant impact on HR implementation effectiveness when controlling for other factors such as HRPs' level of organisational fit and CEO support. We discuss these findings in the light of the HR implementation and HR influence literatures.

ERP 시스템의 운영단계의 성공요인에 대한 중요도 분석

본 연구는 선행연구에서 제시된 ERP시스템의 운영단계의 성공요인들에 대해서 전문가 그룹의 면담과 의견 수렴과정을 거쳐 중요 핵심 성공요인을 도출하고, 도출된 성공요인들을 계층화 의사결정법(AHP)을 이용하여 각 요인들에 대한 상대적인 중요도를 분석하였다. 1차 계층의 성공 요인들에 대한 중요도 분석에서는 조직/인력 요인의 중요도가 가장 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 2차 계층의 성공요인을 1차 계층의 중요도를 고려한 가중치 분석에서는 경영진의 지원과 관심이 가장 중요한 요인으로 분석되었고, 그 다음으로 프로세스 최적화, 변화관리, 운영조직의 지원, 프로세스 혁신조직 유지 순으로 분석되었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 ERP 시스템의 운영단계에서 ERP 시스템의 도입 성과를 극대화하기 위해서는 경영진의 지속적인 지원과 관심뿐만 아니라 ERP 시스템의 도입으로 인한 내부 환경 변화에 대한 적절한 변화관리가 요구되며, ERP 시스템을 전담하는 운영조직의 지원과 프로세스에 대한 지속적인 혁신을 위한 별도의 조직을 갖추어야 할 것이라는 연구결과를 제시할 수 있었다. This study derives the critical success factors through discussion of expert group in operation stage of ERP system that is suggested by the prior study. Relative importance of the derived critical success factors are analyzed using Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP). In the first layer of the hierarchy, organizational/ human resource factors are appeared to be the most important factors. In the second layer of the hierarchy, CEO support is evaluated as the most important success factor considering the weight of the 1st layer of the hierarchy followed by process optimization, change management, support of the operation department, and maintenance of process innovation organization. This study suggests that, in order to maximize the introducing effect, continuous support and attention of management is not the only requirement. Proper change management to handle the internal environment change caused by the introduction of the ERP system, support of operation department dedicated to ERP system, and separate department for continuous innovation of process are also required.

The HR department's contribution to line managers' effective implementation of HR practices

The implementation of human resource (HR) practices (HRPs) is increasingly regarded as a cornerstone in the achievement of overall HRM effectiveness. This article addresses the role of the HR department in contributing to line managers' (LMs) effective implementation of HRPs. It does so by comparing the actions of HR departments in both effective and ineffective implementation processes in different firms. Its findings reveal that HR departments can make a difference by taking initiatives that foster LMs' implementation abilities, motivation and opportunities, such as deploying in‐the‐field HR specialists, framing practices in appealing ways, involving LMs in the development of HRPs and seeking CEO support, among others. By fleshing out these HR initiatives and linking them to the AMO framework, we build an inductive model that offers a more nuanced view of what HR departments can do to have their proposals effectively implemented by LMs.

대학병원직원의 지식경영활동과 성과에 관한 연구

Background: The efficient knowledge management in hospital organization is generally known as the important activities relevant to employees' knowledge sharing behavior and work performance. This research examined factors affecting employees' knowledge sharing behavior and work performance in top 4 university hospitals. This study is based on individual factors such as incentives, reciprocity, behavioral control, and subjective norms. Also, there are organizational factors such as CEO support, learning climate, IT system, rewards system, and trust. Methods: Data was collected from employees who are working at 3 hospitals university in Seoul and 1 university hospital in Gyeonggi-Do through the self-administered questionnaires. A total of 779 questionnaires were analyzed by PASW SPSS ver. 18.0. (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results: The significant variables affecting knowledge sharing behavior are behavioral control (in individual factor) and CEO, IT system, and trust (in organization factor). Also the significant variables affecting work performance are incentives, reciprocity, subjective norms, and behavioral control (in individual factor) and CEO support, IT system, reward system, and trust (in organization factor). Conclusion: The personality and organization characteristics factors is important to improve knowledge sharing behavior and work performance of hospital employees. Therefore, to make more efficient knowledge management is to build and system knowledge sharing culture, system, and leadership and to develop practical strategies.

Effects of HRM Practices on Chinese Firms’ Organizational Performance: The Moderating Effect of CEO Support

There has been growing interest in the relationship between HRM practices and organizational performance, but few studies have provided evidence supporting this relationship by considering the moderating effect of CEO support. Therefore, this study intends to examine the effects of various HRM practices on organizational performance and the moderating effect of CEO support on the relationship between HRM practices and organizational performance through a survey on 215 Chinese firms. The results indicate a positive relationship between HRM practices and organizational performance and verify the moderating effect of CEO support on this relationship. This study is the first one on demonstrating the moderating effect of CEO support on the relationship between HRM practices and organizational performance in the context of Chinese firms. These findings may help adding knowledge to the Chinese firms’ CEOs while considering about making HR policies and HRM activities which are mainly decided by their attitudes and participations.

공급사 적합성 요인이 ERP 도입요인과 내부성과 간에 미치는 조절적 역할

본 연구는 국내의 중소업체를 대상으로 하여 ERP 도입요인과 도입성과 간에 공급사 적합성 요인이 미치는 영향에 대한 연구로, 대부분의 국내 기업에서 ERP 패키지를 도입할 경우 외부전문 업체에서 이미 개발한 패키지를 도입하는 경우가 많기 때문에 ERP 패키지의 공급사와의 적합성 요인이 ERP 도입 성과에 조절적인 역할을 하는지를 검증하고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 공급사 적합성 요인은 ERP 도입 요인과 성과 간에 조절적 역할을 하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 즉, 공급사 적합성 요인은 최고경영자 지원, 교육/훈련, 사용자 IT 역량, 업무 표준화/공식화 등으로 설정된 4개의 변수들과 내부성과 간에 조절적인 역할을 하는 것으로 분석되었다. 그러나 정보기술 기반구조와 내부성과 간에는 조절적인 역할을 하지 않는 것으로 분석되었다. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the vendor suitability factor affects ERP introduction factors of domestic small and middle businesses and internal performance. When domestic firms introduce an ERP package, they mostly use the package already developed by ERP firms. Therefore, this study tried to analyze that the suitability factor of an ERP package supplier serves as a moderating role for ERP internal performance. The study result showed that the vendor suitability factor played a moderating role for ERP introduction factors and internal performance. In other words, the vendor suitability factor served a moderating role for four factors -CEO support, education/training, users' IT capability, and business standardization /formulation- and internal performance. But, it was analyzed that the vendor suitability factor didn't serve as a moderating role for IT infrastructure and internal performance.

종합병원 지식근로자의 지식공유 의도와 혁신행동 간의 관계

The purpose of this study is to investigate factors affecting workers' knowledge sharing on knowledge sharing and innovation behavior in general hospitals. This study is based on factors of knowledge sharing such as incentives, reciprocal benefits, behavioral control, and subjective norm, CEO's support, rewards system, IT system, and trust. Data were assessed using 148 workers who work in 3 hospitals in Seoul, Kyunggi, Chunkcheong-do. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires from April 1 to 31 in 2013 and analyzed SPSS 18 and SEM(structural equation modeling). The results of the study were as follows. First, knowledge sharing intention as well as innovation behavior was statistically significant in behavioral control and IT system. Second, knowledge sharing intention turned out to be positive effect for innovation behavior. This study identified a couple of factors affecting workers' knowledge sharing on knowledge sharing intention and innovation behavior. The the implications of these factors are discussed and areas for developing hospital's knowledge management strategies are fostered and knowledge sharing intention and innovation behavior.

전략의 적합성 요인이 ITO 영향요인과 성과요인 간에 미치는 조절효과 - 공공기관 중심으로

본 연구는 조직의 전략과 IS 전략 간의 적합성 요인이 IT 아웃소싱에 미치는 영향요인과 도입성과 간의 조절적 역할을 공공기관을 중심으로 분석하였다. IT 아웃소싱에 미치는 영향 요인은 조직요인(정보시스템 성숙도, CEO의 지원), 거래요인(자산 특수성, 불확실성, 정보시스템의 사용정도), 위험요인(안전성(보안)의 위험, 비용의 증가위험, 자율성 상실의 위험)으로 설정하였고, 성과요인은 경제적 효과와 기술적 효과로 설정하였으며, 조직의 전략과 IS 전략 간의 적합성 요인을 조절변수로 설정하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 조직의 전략 및 IS 전략의 적합성 요인은 조직요인의 하위 변수인 정보시스템 성숙도, CEO의 지원, 거래 요인의 하위 변수인 불확실성, 정보시스템의 사용정도, 위험 요인의 하위 변수인 안전성(보안)의 위험, 비용의 증가 위험, 자율성 상실의 위험 요인들과 도입성과 간에 조절적인 역할을 하는 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서 조직에서 아웃소싱을 통하여 정보기술의 도입 성과를 높이기 위해서는 조직의 전략과 IS 전략이 잘 조화롭게 추진될 수 있어야 할 것이다. 그러나 적합성 요인이 자산 특수성 요인과 도입성과 간에서는 조절적인 역할을 하지 못하는 것으로 분석되었다. This study analyzed that adjustment roles of the organization and Information System strategy suitability factors between influence and introduction outcome factors in the IT outsourcing in government offices. Influence factors of IT outsourcing are organization factor(information system maturity, CEO's support), trade factor(asset speciality, uncertainty, using degree of information system), risk factor(risk of security, risk of increase in cost, risk of losing autonomy). And outcome factors are set as economic effect and technology effect. We analyzed that organization and IS strategy suitability factors as moderator variables. Results are the followings. It was analyzed that organization and IS strategy suitability factors are in charge of adjusting role among information system maturity which is lower variable of organization factor, CEO's support, uncertainty of trade factor's lower variable, risk of security which is risk factor's lower variable, risk of increase in cost, loss of autonomy. Therefore, in order for organization to increase the outcome of information technology, organization strategy and IS strategy should be promoted in combined manner. However, it was analyzed that strategy suitability could not take the adjusting role between asset specialty and introduction outcome.

Information Technology Adoption and Success Research Review in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

Small and Medium-sized Enterprises are the backbones of the national economy in production and employment. Information technology can contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs. This study aims to organize the comprehensive review of existing literature on the information technology adoption and success determinants in SMEs by comparing Korean domestic and aborad studies. The results show that domestic studies tend to be more quantitative research than the research aborad. Technology-Organization-Environment framework has been the most frequently deployed framework, and CEO support and user satisfaction factors are most frequently used in the adoption and success factors. With these findings we hope the future study should adopt more various theories and qualitative research methodologies.

Controllable Synthesis of Nearly Monodisperse Spherical Aggregates of CeO2 Nanocrystals and Their Catalytic Activity for HCHO Oxidation

Herein, we report a facile surfactant-assisted solvothermal synthetic method to prepare nearly monodisperse spherical CeO(2) nanocrystals. A good control of the size of CeO(2) nanocrystals in the range of 100-500 nm was achieved by simply varying the synthetic parameters such as reaction time, volume ratio of ethanol to water (R), molar ratio of PVP, and concentration of Ce(NO(3))(3)⋅6 H(2) O in solution. A possible mechanism for the growth of spherical CeO(2) nanocrystals is proposed. The obtained CeO(2) nanocrystals with a surface area of up to 47 m(2) g(-1) were then employed as a catalyst support. By loading Au-Pd nanoparticles (about 3 wt. %) onto the CeO(2) support, an Au-Pd/CeO(2) catalyst was prepared that exhibited high catalytic activity for HCHO oxidation. At the low temperature of 50 °C, the percentage of HCHO conversion was 100 %, suggesting potential applications in preferential oxidation and other catalytic reactions. These Au-Pd/CeO(2) catalysts may also find applications in indoor formaldehyde decontamination and industrial catalysis. The facile solvothermal method can be extended to the preparation of other metal oxide nanocrystals and provides guidance for size- and morphology-controlled synthesis.
