THE HERITAGE OF VLADIGEROV – THE MUSEUM UP CLOSE

The preservation, scientific processing and presentation of the rich material and musical heritage of the classic Bulgarian composer Pancho Vladigerov are the main goals of the Pancho Vladigerov House Museum – Sofia. In fulfillment of Vladigerov's will and thanks to the donative gesture of his wife, Mrs. Elka Vladigerova, today the composer’s former home houses his archive, painstakingly collected by him throughout his life. The diversity and uniqueness of the collections in the museum's holdings are a prerequisite for the development of thematic documentary exhibitions, educational programs, and multi-genre concerts, as well as many accompanying events that attract young audiences and introduce them to the composer's personality and the recognition he received as a leading figure in Bulgarian musical culture, as well as on a European and global scale. The team’s work is focused on turning the house that has preserved the unique atmosphere of Vladigerov's home in the capital's Lozenets district at 10 Yakubitsa Street into an attractive cultural center.

About the characteristic features of Russians (territorial and settlement aspect)

Relevance. In the post-Soviet era, changes in the consciousness and behavior of the masses of people became inevitable. The study of the structure of characteristic features (consciousness and behavior) of Russians (both positive and negative) in modern conditions is of great scientific and practical interest.The purpose is to use sociological materials to identify the hierarchical structure of characteristic positive and negative traits (consciousness and behavior) of Russians, including by territorial settlement groups.Objectives: to analyze the assessments of positive and negative traits inherent, in the opinion of respondents, to people of their generation; to identify their hierarchical structure and characteristics by territorial settlement groups.Methodology. The sociological survey and the sampling method, methods of grouping data, their analysis and generalization, and correlation analysis were used.Results. The leading features (both positive and negative) inherent, in the opinion of respondents, to people of their generation are revealed, as well as the relationships between them by territorial settlement groups are revealed.Conclusions. The positive features that have taken the leading places indicate the high potential of humanism and harmonious personality development among the majority of Russians. The negative traits that took the leading places indicate a relatively low level of sociality, social empathy and social responsibility of significant masses of people (according to respondents' estimates). However, the respondents' overall assessment of people of their generation is predominantly positive, which gives grounds for social optimism. At the same time, although the differences between territorial settlement groups in both positive and negative features are not antagonistic, they can be the basis for elements of contradictions and conflicts. Consistent active work of advanced social forces is necessary, first of all, by means of education to strengthen the positive traits of people as a "situationally dominant factor" and a center of attraction, a positive pole, especially for the younger generations.

On chaotic dynamics of the minimal centre of attraction of discrete amenable group actions

Let X be a compact metric space, G be a countable discrete infinite amenable group continuously acting on X and F be a Følner sequence of G. In this paper, we acquire some ergodic properties of the discrete amenable group action ( X , G ) . By virtue of these properties, we prove the existence of syndetic sensitivity of the minimal F -centre of attraction of a point x ∈ X provided that the minimal F -centre of attraction of x is not S-generic and admits a dense set of quasi-weakly almost periodic points relative to F of ( X , G ) . The presented results enhance some main results of [Z. Chen and X. Dai, Chaotic dynamics of minimal centre of attraction of discrete amenable group actions, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 456 (2017), pp. 1397–1414.].

Bjerrum defects in s-II gas hydrate

The energy and structure of Bjerrum defects in structure II gas hydrates were investigated by using first-principle calculations for finite-size clusters and periodic 3D lattice systems. The formation energies of these defects were calculated for the first time when the cages of the structure II structure were completely empty and the large cage was filled with a THF molecule. Analogous to findings in ice structures, one of the hydrogen atoms forming the D defect was noted to orient toward the cage. If the excess proton resides in the large cage, it acts as an attraction center for the polar guest molecule, i.e., THF. Therefore, the large cage guest THF molecule stabilizes the D/L defect pair and isolated D/L defect formation energies by forming hydrogen bonds with the D defect. In such cases, the defect structure representing a D/L defect pair containing a THF molecule interacting with one of the hydrogen atoms of the D defect mirrors the guest-induced ones. Notably, the classical Bjerrum defect and the guest-induced Bjerrum defect exhibit a similar phenomenon in defective structures. Contrary to existing literature, it is evident that guest-induced Bjerrum defects involve both the L and D components. The insights gained from this study could potentially offer an alternative perspective to understand various experimental observations, such as those related to dielectric and NMR properties.

A CNN-based approach for anomaly detection in smart grid systems

Power grids are always a major center of attraction for attackers due to their large coverage area, complex technological infrastructure, remote access facilities, connectivity, and many more. The power grids that have bidirectional power flow, information interchange, and advanced communication technologies to improve the quality of power transmission and distribution are called smart grids. DoS attacks and false data injection attacks are the two major attacks on smart grids. This paper considers a false data injection attack considering noise reduction, state estimation, system parameters, and control system generation. Firstly, we measure the noise and mitigate it using the data matrix of the devices (sensors, generators, substations, and breaker systems). Secondly, state estimation uses the CNN to track the injected attack types. Finally, a control system is designed to provide anomaly patterns to the devices as input to prevent attacks in the future. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves a higher anomaly detection rate with a lower error rate (approximately . 1.43%). The network performance parameters are providing significant results; throughput (12 Mbps), PDR (0.005%), execution time (1.43 s), and energy consumption are reduced by 12%–15% as compared to the existing research findings.

Green synthesized silver nanoparticles and their biomedical applications: a review

Over the last two decades, scientists have become increasingly interested in metallic nanoparticles due to their unique properties, especially in the biomedical field. Green synthesis of metal nanoparticles is a rapidly growing field in nanotechnology due to its viability, reduced toxicity, ecofriendly nature, and ease of preparation. Plants have long been a centre of attraction in the field of medicine because they are a unique source of a variety of bioactive compounds. Silver has been known for its medicinal properties, especially its antibacterial therapeutic effect. Among other metal nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles have taken a special place since it has made a big impact on medical applications. This review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the biomedical qualities of medicinal plants, as well as an overview of their impact on the synthesis of green silver nanoparticles. Various biomedical applications of plant-mediated silver nanoparticles will also be highlighted.

Roma Children’s Access to Education: Barriers and Supports

ABSTRACT This study aims to identify the barriers encountered in the access of Roma children to education and to offer solutions according to the school administrators’ and teachers’ views. It is conducted with a phenomenological research design. The study group is composed of 24 participants, including 7 school administrators and 17 teachers. Data collected employing semi-structured interviews are analyzed with inductive content analysis. According to the findings, within the framework of Bourdieu’s cultural capital theory, the barriers to Roma children’s access to education are revealed as the structure of the education system, cultural characteristics, and perspective on education. Participants have stated that low expectations from Roma children within the current education system and the formation of Roma Schools are significant barriers to accessing education. These barriers to Roma children’s access to education are seen as a product of deficiencies caused by the family and the student himself. Additionally, neighborhood culture and social learning also prevent Roma children from accessing education. To overcome these barriers, participants suggest that schools should be turned into centers of attraction, flexible education programs should be implemented, and Roma children should be educated in mixed schools. The findings suggest that these barriers are regarded as a product of deficiencies caused by Roma children.

Designing an Efficient Singlet Fission Material with B-N Substitution in Pyrene: A Model Exact Study.

The electronic structure of boron (B)-nitrogen (N)-substituted pyrene molecules is the center of attraction in designing an efficient intermolecular singlet fission (x-SF) material. Thermodynamic energy criteria required for x-SF are obtained by captodative substitution with B and N in pristine pyrene to increase the lowest singlet-triplet energy gap. We computed low-lying excited states of BN-embedded pyrene molecules by exactly solving the Pariser-Parr-Pople (PPP) model Hamiltonian and compared these results with the TDDFT and EOM-CCSD values. Exact diagonalization of the PPP model Hamiltonian suggests that pristine pyrene, which is endothermic for x-SF, becomes isoergic with certain (BN)2 substitution. The low-lying excited state energies calculated using the model Hamiltonian match very well with experimental values over EOM-CCSD and TDDFT. Moreover, the low value of the spin-orbit coupling constant calculated for BN-substituted pyrene strengthens its applicability as an SF material.

Boosting thermoelectric performance of polycrystalline SnSe by controlled in-situ Ag2Se precipitates in grain boundaries

Boundary engineering has proven effective in enhancing the thermoelectric performance of materials. SnSe, known for its low thermal conductivity, has garnered significant interest; however, its application is hindered by poor electrical conductivity. Herein, the Ag8GeSe6 is introduced into the p-type polycrystalline SnSe matrix to optimize the thermoelectric performance, and the in-situ Ag2Se precipitates are formed in grain boundaries, which play dual roles, acting as an electron attraction center for improving hole concentration and a phonon scattering center for reducing lattice thermal conductivity. It effectively decouples the thermal and electrical transport properties to optimize the thermoelectric performance. Importantly, the amount of Ag2Se can be controlled by adjusting the amount of Ag8GeSe6 added to the SnSe matrix. The introduction of Ag8GeSe6 enhances electrical conductivity due to the increased hole carrier caused by the introduced Ag+ and the formed electron attraction center (in-situ Ag2Se precipitates). Based on the DFT calculations, the band gap of the Ag8GeSe6-doped samples is considerably decreased, facilitating carrier transport. As a result, the electrical transport properties increase to 808 μW m−1 K−2 at 823 K for SnSe + 0.5 wt% Ag8GeSe6. In addition, in-situ Ag2Se precipitates in grain boundaries strongly enhance phonon scattering, causing a decrease in lattice thermal conductivity. Furthermore, the presence of defects contributes to a reduction in lattice thermal conductivity. Specifically, the thermal conductivity of SnSe + 1.0 wt% Ag8GeSe6 decreases to 0.29 W m−1 K−1 at 823 K. Consequently, SnSe + 0.5 wt% Ag8GeSe6 obtains a high ZT value of 1.7 at 823 K and maintains a high average ZT value of 0.57 over the temperature range of 323−773 K. Additionally, the mechanical properties of Ag8GeSe6-doped also show an improvement. These advancements can be applied to energy supply applications during deep space exploration.

Ethnic culture in urban space: a theoretical review

Relevance. Cities are centers of attraction for people of different nationalities and cultures. In the context of urbanization and globalization, various ethnic cultures interact, which leads to their transformation. The study of ethnic culture in urban space makes it possible to understand how culture changes under the influence of new living conditions, which is especially important for the formation of intercultural relations and tolerant attitude towards representatives of other cultures and nationalities.The purpose is to analyze theoretical studies of ethnic culture in urban space, including issues of tolerance, identity, and urban mentality.Objectives: to consider the elements of ethnic culture; to analyze the connection between ethnic culture and urban space; to determine how identity manifests itself in urban space; to characterize cultural ethnic practices in urban space; to characterize the visual artifacts of ethnicity in urban space.Methodology. The socio-cultural paradigm of studying urban space was used as the methodological basis of the study. The authors also applied general scientific methods: analysis, comparison, generalization.Results. A theoretical analysis of the developments of domestic authors on the topic of manifestations of ethnic culture in urban space, including aspects of national symbols, architecture, mentality, identity, tolerance, is carried out.Conclusions. Ethnic culture in urban space is a complex phenomenon encompassing socio-cultural and ethnodemographic aspects of urban community life. It finds expression in architecture, cultural practices of events, ornaments, everyday life, and the media. Today, despite the unification of everyday life and lifestyle, there are trends towards strengthening national identity, preserving national identity and cultural traditions, in particular through elements of urban public spaces.

Comparative Analysis of the Quality of Working Life in Ukraine and in EU Countries

The quality of working life is an influential factor in determining the direction of labor movement between countries and between corporations within a country. Countries that offer the best living conditions, financial state support, social integration programs, decent working conditions and wages have become the center of attraction for Ukrainian refugees after the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The purpose of this study was to conduct a comparative analysis of the quality of working life in Ukraine and the European Union to assess the possibilities of returning refugees to Ukraine and attracting new labor from European countries during its recovery and implementation of steps towards sustainable development. A comparative analysis of key characteristics of the quality of working life shows that Ukraine is significantly inferior to EU countries. Macroeconomic conditions, employment rate and share of informal employment, income and wages, length of working week and annual guaranteed leave are key groups of indicators that require attention and direct or indirect influence to adjust them to the EU average. The article identifies the priority tasks for bridging the gap between the quality of working life in Ukraine and European countries, in particular by eliminating structural imbalances in the labor market.

The Cossack elite that formed on the Don in the 17th-18th centuries eventually established their informal oligarchic rule. To avoid conflicts, its representatives became related to each other through marriage. Such unions can be traced between the children of successive atamans. The removal of the central government opposition ataman Stepan Efremov was accompanied by a whole series of marriages of Efremov's children with the children of his “opponents” to “disperse” the established powerful clan. The next center of attraction, with whom they sought to become related, was the Ilovaisky family and senior officials who moved forward together with the new ataman A.I. Ilovaisky. However, the narrow circle of the elite maintaining unity in this way became the reason for the emergence of weak, unviable offspring. At the end of the 18th - early 19th century, when the role of the Cossack elite on the Don was decreasing, and the influence of the state was increasing, the marriage unions into which its representatives entered changed quite a lot.

ЭСТЕТИЧЕСКИЕ МОДЕЛИ ВХОЖДЕНИЯ ВОССТАНАВЛИВАЕМЫХ ПРОМЫШЛЕННЫХ ОБЪЕКТОВ В СТРУКТУРУ ОКРУЖАЮЩЕЙ ЗАСТРОЙКИ

The article presents models of aesthetic formation of reconstructed industrial objects of the Soviet period in the surrounding development in the context of sustainability at the level of the city structure, taking into account the growth of the urban fabric. The industrial enterprises in question, as a rule, initially located on the outskirts of the city. Due to the dynamics of urbanization processes, they have become tightly integrated into the urban fabric, and are currently so-called exclusion zones, since they are large-sized relative to the surrounding development objects, including residential buildings and elements of the infrastructure of its social and domestic services. It is also necessary to note the enterprises that are city-forming and located in the structure of the historical center of the urban settlement, where it is especially important to preserve the authenticity of the historical development: to introduce reconstructed industrial facilities as delicately as possible (to select the aesthetic model of the reconstructed enterprise) into the historically established visual and aesthetic code of the city. Thus, two models of aesthetic inclusion of existing industrial enterprises being restored into the city structure have been identified: mimicry, related to objects located in the historical part of the city, and accentual – forming a visual center of attraction outside the historical part of the city, on the periphery and outside the city. The article also examines options for aesthetic inclusion of industrial objects being reconstructed depending on their urban development features: the presence of buffer zones and sanitary protection zones, the presence of external railway routes adjacent to the objects

An Orientalist Discovery Effort During the 19th Century through the Eyes of Some European Travelers in Ankara

Ankara, located in the center of Asia Minor and founded on an important crossroads, has always been an attraction center for travelers of various religious and national backgrounds. More importantly, it was located on the King’s Road which extended from Mesopotamia to Western Anatolia. Undoubtedly, these characteristic features of the city were noticed by Western travelers. The city was first visited by a Western traveler in the 16th century. The number and frequency of these trips increased over time. The 19th century is considered as the peak point in this regard. Correspondingly this article focused on the opinions of five different Western travelers who visited Ankara during the 19th century and whose names came into prominence. Before that, the period from the 16th to the 19th century was examined. In some cases, Ottoman archival documents were used to check the data provided by the travelers’ resources.

TWOFOLD SUBAREA MODEL FOR ESTIMATING COMMUTER PROPORTION IN 10 METROPOLITAN AREAS

The metropolitan area is a major contributor to national GDP. The metropolitan area is a center of attraction for many people who come to earn income as commuters. Commuters are people who carry out work activities in the center of the metropolitan area, which are carried out by residents who live in suburban areas around the center of the metropolitan area and commute regularly every day. The availability of commuter statistics from surveys for presentation level down to the smallest administrative level, such as regencies/municipalities, is unreliable. This happens because this level of presentation has poor precision due to insufficient samples due to the Statistics Indonesia survey design for making estimates at the national and provincial levels. It can be done using small area estimation (SAE) to meet increasing data needs, but existing SAE models can often estimate only at one level. To meet data requests more effectively, a model is needed that can estimate several small areas simultaneously. In SAE, one of the SAE models that can do this is the twofold subarea model. The twofold subarea model produces estimates of the proportion of commuters with good precision at the subarea level (regencies/municipalities) and area level (metropolitan area), with the RRMSE percentage value of the estimated proportion of commuters being below 25% for all regions. The results of this research can be used to present commuter data at the regencies/municipalities level and metropolitan area level where there is a lack of samples and become a new opportunity for Statistics Indonesia to increase statistical production in small areas, which is more effective compared to other SAE methods which have so far been used only to estimate one area level.

Chronic Kidney Disease in Light of Ayurveda: A Literary Review on Vataj Pandu

In recent years, chronic kidney disease (CKD) has become a centre of attraction for researchers all over the world, due to increasing incidence. However, delayed diagnosis and lack of proper management has made it one of the leading causes of death worldwide. In the earlier phase of the disease, relief to the patients can be provided based on chief complaints. But as the disease progresses, only dialysis and kidney transplants remain the line of treatment according to the mainstream system of medicine, thus leading to a large number of side effects and ultimately decreasing the life expectancy. In Ayurveda, CKD is not mentioned in the Samhita directly, but it can be correlated with Vataj pandu according to similarities in some of the symptoms and causes of these two diseases as mentioned in ancient literature. We can also look out for the Nidaan and Samprapti according to the history given by the patient and evaluate the Dosh, Dushya, and the Srotas involved, and then devise a line of treatment according to the patient's Bala, Prakriti, Agni and Oja. In this article, we're going to talk about an aspect of CKD that can be used as a part of management to improve the quality of life and give hope to all the patients suffering from this disease.

State Migration Policy: Determining Criteria of Effectiveness in the Recipient State

A significant increase of migration flows directed to the Russian Federation from the PostSoviet states makes it possible to consider the modern Russian Federation as one of the main centers of migration attraction in the world, namely, the recipient state of external migration. Migration policy of the recipient state has certain features, which is due to the need to differentiate external migration into demanded and undesirable, to ensure a balance between the interests of government and society, to combine aspects of national security of the state and the personality with an economic and demographic approach to migration. Currently, there are several methods for determining the effectiveness of state migration policy developed by various international organizations, but these methods are focused on developing countries, which, as a rule, are the donor states of migration, or consider the effectiveness of individual components. For example, socio-cultural adaptation and integration of migrants into the host society. In this regard, the need to create new approaches of evaluation the set of measures realized by the state in the field of external migration in the context of the recipient state itself is actualized. Effective migration policy of the recipient state combines approaches that ensure the protection of national interests, the security of the state, society and the personality. It closes addressable the temporary needs of the national labor market, which makes it possible to formulate a number of objective criteria for its evaluation.

Управление агломерационным процессом: опыт Республики Корея

Based on the analysis of the experience of the Republic of Korea in the management of agglomeration processes, the article reveals the immanent features of agglomeration. Observation of similar processes in the Russian Federation allows, when compared with the analyzed experience, to identify an approach to identifying objects that act as centers of attraction for the population in urbanized areas. Conclusions are made about the possibility of applying this experience.

Bioinspired Fluid Dynamic Designs of Vertical-Axis Turbines: State-of-the-Art Review and the Way Forward

Abstract With the increasing popularity of vertical axis turbines (VATs), researchers are now focusing on their performance improvement. Instead of adopting conventional means of performance improvements such as augmentation techniques and exhaustive parametric design optimization, the bio-inspired turbine designs have become a center of attraction, especially during the last decade. This review article attempts to compile the bio-inspired designs belonging to the VATs. Bio-inspired designs implemented in Savonius, Darrieus, Nautilus, and Seed-inspired turbines are elaborated besides giving a detailed explanation of the corresponding bio-organism and natural phenomenon. How the working principles of bio-organisms emulated in the form of fluid dynamic design are explained thoroughly in this paper. The bio-inspired designs for VATs are then classified pragmatically for the future designs. Research gaps are highlighted for the aspiring researchers, and this is followed by the important strategies and allied challenges.

Recent Advances and Strategies towards Synthesis of Indolyl and Tryptophan‐C‐Glycoside Scaffolds

AbstractRecently, C‐glycosidic bonds have emerged as pivotal elementary units present in many naturally occurring alkaloids as well as in pharmaceutically active molecules. Because of the stability and great utility of C‐glycosides, synthetic approaches en route to the C−C bond formation have gradually become a center of attraction in carbohydrate chemistry. Towards these researches, C‐glycosylation with heteroaryl moieties like indole, and tryptophan can remarkably expand the functional and structural evolution, which has great value for medicinal chemists and chemical biologists. The indolyl and tryptophan‐C‐glycosides have unique structures and biological activities that have attracted a number of synthetic studies. Therefore, these motifs have possessed an extensive interest in the direction of efficient synthesis. Herein, this review systematically summarizes the classical approaches to C‐heteroaryl glycosides mainly focusing on indole and tryptophan synthesis. Furthermore, highlighted the recently developed metal‐catalyzed C−H functionalization and photoinduced cross‐coupling strategies that aim to control the regioselectivity and diastereoselectivity of the reaction in carbohydrate chemistry. In view of reaction type, mechanism, and status, this review will cover the synthesis of indole and tryptophan C‐heteroaryl glycosides with diverse regio‐ and diastereoselectivity from four perspectives which include a) conventional approach, b) heterocyclization and C‐glycosylation sequence, c) metal‐catalyzed C−H functionalization, and d) photoinduced cross‐coupling. 1.
