KRISIS PADA TAHAP AWAL PASCA-PERKAWINAN KATOLIK DAN UPAYA MENGATASI KRISIS BERDASARKAN SURAT APOSTOLIK AMORIS LAETITIA

In the Catholic Church, the reality of married life shows that various kinds of crises come and disrupt the lives of married couples during the early stages of catholic post-marriage. The focus of this article is to elaborate crisis during the early stages of Catholic post-marriage and attempts to address the crisis. Therefore, this article reviews the Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia from Pope Francis which speaks about Catholic marriage as the guidance for dealing with the crisis. The authors use the method of interview and literature study. In the interview method, the authors interview key informants who talk about problems during the early stages of catholic post-marriage. This study found that crisis during the early stages of catholic post-marriage is characterized by four main reasons, namely the necessity to leave parents, adjustment to one’s partner, the presence and care of children, and the presence of elderly parents. Dealing with these problems, the Church through its family pastoral inspired by the Amoris Laetitia comes to provide spiritual, moral and practical supports to the families in order to face the crises. The Church must be alert in designing programs and activities such as recollections, retreats, group discussions, family visits, and so on which are useful for strengthening family resilience and strengthening their family building and integrity.

‘They lived happily ever after’? Practices of sustaining the durability of Roman Catholic marriage in the context of transformations in intimacy in late modernity

Although in late-modern societies the idea of a ‘forever’ relationship has lost its dominant status, it is consistently upheld by the Roman Catholic Church. The aim of the article is to analyse the practices of sustaining the durability of Catholic marriage, which we treat as ways of adapting to the tensions between late-modern models of intimacy and the rule of indissolubility of marriage. We refer to data collected in qualitative research among educated Roman Catholic women in Poland. Using the lived religion approach, we demonstrate how these women sacralise actions within marriage that have been secularised in the late-modern world, while also using late modernity as a reservoir of meanings, leading to hybridisation of religious practices. We argue that sustaining conservative religious rules is often based on actions in which religious aspects are negotiated and transformed. Religion operates ‘non-autonomously’ in these processes, entering a relationship with elements that are originally not religious.

Catholic family towards holy perfection: pastoral challenges and management

This research examines Catholic families towards the perfection of holiness: challenges, management, and pastoral care. A Catholic family is a family based on Catholic marriage. The Catholic family itself is referred to as the ecclesia domestica or household church which has a special place in the Catholic Church. This research uses the literature study method. Literature study is research that focuses on searching and deepening supporting literature. Library sources are taken from Church documents that talk about the family and also other sources that support this research. The research results show that Catholic families face external and internal challenges. Therefore, the need to strengthen the foundation of the family in the environment and within the family itself is important in order to realize environment-based pastoral services, as is the pastoral focus of the Diocese of Surabaya. Researchers propose a family catechesis program which aims to build understanding, awareness and concrete action for families towards perfect holiness. This catechesis takes the form of a life catechesis that prioritizes everyday experiences interpreted in the light of the Gospel. This form or method of catechesis is carried out through family recollection in the environment.

Proposing Mental Health Awareness Inputs for Marital Relations

One of the seven sacraments which arises from the ministry of Christ and continued by the Catholic Church is the Sacrament of Matrimony. Given that Matrimony is a sacrament, the Church recognizes the importance of the marital bond in couples (unitive) and their participation in the divine creative power (procreative). The Church is aware of the factors surrounding and affecting the integrity of the marriage of Catholic couples. It is aware of all the challenges faced by every couple that often leads to their separation, annulment, or divorce. (Elsig, 2023) says that ongoing unresolved conflict is harmful. When there are continued arguments in a relationship, research shows it restricts the processes that lead to good mental health. This suggests that marital brokenness is attributed to several factors that include the mental disposition of either spouse. It is in this regard that this research explores the possible integration of inputs for mental health awareness in Catholic marriages for couples who are in their early years in marriage. A meta-review of related literature citing the causes, effect, threats, and remedies relative to mental health issues affecting married couples shall be undertaken. These materials shall be discussed in terms of their practical catechetical value through the Catechism of the Catholic Church on Marriage. Through these various related literatures, the researchers hope to contribute towards the improvement of understanding the relationship between mental health issues and marital relations.

Support for Engaged Couples in Preparation for a Catholic Marriage

Marriage can be solemnised in a non-religious setting, through a declaration given before a civil servant. Alternatively, it may incorporate a religious dimension and take place in a church, with an accompanying prayer, the presence of a priest, and a blessing. Quoting from the Old and New Testaments, the author highlights the fundamental aspects of marriage within the Catholic Church. The author also explores the tasks and characteristics of marriage, comparing the declaration made at the Registry Office for secular marriages with the vows exchanged during a church wedding. The article also draws attention to the premarital counselling offered by the Catholic Church, provided by priests and family life counsellors. This counselling is a valuable and necessary resource for engaged couples as they prepare for marriage and parenthood. It can help couples with two important tasks: expressing love and transmitting life.

Memaknai Dimensi Sakramental Perkawinan Katolik dalam Kanon 1055 §1-2 dari Perspektif Teologi Tubuh Paus Yohanes Paulus II

This article aims to discuss the Catholic marriage as a covenant according to Canon Law in the light of Pope John Paul II's theology of the body. This paper is designed as a review article and focuses its attention on Canon 1055 §1-2 of Canon Law. The latter emphasizes the legal aspects of marriage as a covenant between a man and a woman that forms a lifelong partnership. This marriage is aimed at the welfare of husband and wife (bonum coniugum) and openness to the birth and education of children (bonum prolis). The sacramental meaning of marriage is interpreted within the framework of the theology of the body. The human body, theologically, is a means and sign of God's presence. The sacramental covenant dimension of the canon is analyzed in the light of Pope John Paul II's theology of the body. Christian marriage is a sacramental covenant, and the human body as the locus theologicus is a sign and means of God's presence.

The evolution of marriage in Spain from the francoist dictatorship to the present day

ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper is to present a brief summary about the evolution of marriage in Spain: from Catholic marriage during the years of the Francoist dictatorship (1939-1975), going through the democratic transition and the recognition of the right to marriage in the Constitution of 1978, until the necessity for legislative intervention to interpret the constitutional precept more broadly in order to recognise homosexual marriage. Moreover, we will observe what has been and continues to be the impact of non-catholic confessions in the Spanish marriage system.

Theology of Marital Suffering in the Light of Detachment of Saint John of the Cross

Marital indissolubility is a contentious issue in contemporary Catholic marriages. This qualitative study interviewed eight wives who have endured suffering in their marriages while remaining faithful to the gospel and Church teachings. They viewed their suffering as an ascetic path that leads to spiritual growth. This research explores Saint John of the Cross’s theology of detachment to understand marital suffering. Asceticism within marriage is seen as a means to achieve deeper self-giving to one’s spouse and God. Detachment, a core element of asceticism, purifies one’s being, fostering spiritual growth. John of the Cross’s detachment theology can help couples see their suffering as an avenue to detachment, facilitating divine purification and the ability to transcend marital difficulties without being bound by anything outside of God. This suggests that detachment is a relevant concept in fostering spiritual growth and enhancing self-giving in marriage.

Penerimaan Sakramen Baptis bagi Bayi dari Pasutri yang Mengalami Halangan Perkawinan Katolik

Sacraments are signs and means of God's saving presence. The sacrament of Baptism is one of them so that baptism also shows the salvation that comes from God. Everyone can receive the Sacramentof Baptism. This is because the Sacrament of Baptism makes everyone, who receives it, a member of the Church. In fact, they also receive an eternal seal that makes them commissioned to proclaim God's salvation. Receiving the Sacrament of Baptism means being born again to become children of God. In the Baptism ceremony, water is the main material because water is a means of cleansing. In fact, water has a great role for human life. The word "βαπτω" (bapto - Greek) or "βαπτιζω" (baptiso - Greek) means "to submerge", "to immerse", "to lower into water", "to plunge into water." The sacrament of Baptism has been the subject of discussion for the Church fathers who gave explanations about Baptism and the rituals performed. When looking at the history of Baptism and who can receive the Sacrament of Baptism, children from newborn to toddler age can receive it even if the parents have an impediment to Catholic marriage. The assistance provided by godparents can direct children to live like Jesus Christ, who is the source of salvation for mankind. The Sacrament of Baptism is the entrance to receive the other sacraments. By receiving the Sacrament of Baptism, a person who receives it has been reborn as a child of God and joined the communion of the Church. Thus, children who have received the Sacrament of Baptism can one day be a guarantee for the salvation of humanity who long for the saving presence of God, including couples (parents of children) who experience obstacles to Catholic marriage who long for the sacraments of salvation, through their example as true believers.

Development of Teaching Materials for a Catholic Marriage Preparation Course for Prospective Married Couples

This research uses a qualitative approach to explore the implementation of the Catholic Marriage Preparation Course at St. Teresia Jambi. With a focus on in-depth understanding, the research aims to identify and resolve the fundamental problems faced by course organizers. The research subjects consisted of a group of companions and participants in the Catholic marriage preparation course at St.Teresia Jambi. Data was collected through direct interviews and questionnaires, then analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques. The results of the research show that there is an urgent need for increased understanding and deepening of the teachings of the Catholic Church related to marriage preparation and formation at St. Mary's Parish. Teresia Jambi. Apart from that, the research results also reveal that the application of Catholic marriage principles which are in line with Church teachings can strengthen family ties and improve the spiritual well-being of the people. The novelty of this research lies in the qualitative approach used to gain an in-depth understanding of the problems of Catholic marriage preparation courses. It is hoped that the implications of this research will provide valuable input for course organizers in improving the quality and effectiveness of Catholic marriage preparation courses at St. Mary's Parish. Hukum Adat Perkawinan Dayak Mualang Dan Perbandingannya dengan Perkawinan Gereja Katolik

The focus of the discussion within this research is on understanding moral values in Catholic Family education. In the midst of a world that is shaken by various storms of decline in moral values, such as consumerism, individualism, and hedonism, this has made dangerous impact toward the education of Catholic families. The family, especially the Catholic family, has a role as well as a responsibility to provide direction so that every member in the Catholic family survives from various challenges and threats of moral decline. The Catholic Church, through the Apostolic Exhortation –Familiaris Consortio, has provided direction in the efforts of Christian families to maintain moral values. Familiaris Consortio should be the basis for education meaning by Catholic families so that the Sacrament of Marriage can be interpreted seriously and minimize Catholic marriages that fail in the middle of the journey. This study will be divided into four main discussions that can help Catholic families upgrading moral values in their role in educating. The four discussions are: The situation of the family in today's society, the rights and obligations of parents regarding education, educating in the essential values of human life, and the mission of Education and the Sacrament of Marriage.

THE CONCEPT OF INTERFAITH MARRIAGE: ISLAM-CATHOLICISM AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR THE MORAL EDUCATIONS OF CHILDREN

The focus of this study is to provide an explanation of marriage in Islam and Catholicism and its implications for children's moral education. Interfaith marriages often raise pros and cons in society. Those who disagree think that interfaith marriage violates the rules, so it must be avoided. Meanwhile, for those who agree, consider interfaith marriage as a great gift that must be accepted and lived. In the view of Islam and Catholicism, interfaith marriages are actually permissible and of course follow the rules or provisions of each religion. This theme becomes an interesting topic of discussion in this research. The methods used in this research are the descriptive method and a critical reading of the text. This research does not intend to differentiate between Islamic and Catholic marriages but instead seeks to present Islamic and Catholic views on the concept of interfaith marriage and examine the implications of moral education for children in these two major religions. Islam and Catholicism realize that children are a gift, so they should be formed, educated, and fostered. Parents are primarily responsible for the moral education of their children because from them children learn about life.

Migration, Kinship and Child Mortality in Early Twentieth-Century North America

AbstractThis article appraises kin availability and migration timing on French-Canadian child mortality in an early twentieth-century North American industrial city. The analysis is based on the exploitation of an original dataset constructed by linking the 1910 census data (IPUMS-Full Count) for Manchester, New Hampshire to Quebec Catholic marriage records (BALSAC) and geocoding census data at the household level (Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps). Our results suggest that the presence of maternal and paternal grandmothers in the city living in different households were associated with reduced child mortality and that French-Canadian women who arrived in the United States as children or young adults experienced higher child mortality compared to second-generation French Canadians and those who migrated at a later age.

SEBAB DAN DAMPAK PERKAWINAN PAKSA DI STASI REWUNG PAROKI SANTA MARIA PENOLONG ABADI LAWIR KEUSKUPAN RUTENG DAN IMPLIKASI PASTORALNYA

A Catholic marriage is valid if it has complied with applicable laws. One of the legal rules is if the wedding is done based on love and the partner's free will. On the other hand, forced marriage is invalid. Forced marriage has many adverse effects, including it can lead to divorce or separation. This study conducted a study on separated/divorced couples at the Rewung Station of the St. Maria Penolong Abadi Parish in Lawir Diocese of Ruteng. The main focus and objective of the research are to analyze the causes and effects of forced marriages in the area. This study found the factors causing forced marriages, namely: marriage due to arranged marriages by parents, marriage due to arranged marriages in a large family as part of the marriage culture within the clan and already pregnant. The effects of forced marriages are squabbles or disharmony, domestic violence (KDRT), and divorce/separation. This study concludes that forced marriage is not only against the nature of the sacramental union of the Catholic Church but also has a destructive impact on the family and the Church itself. This study recommends that marriage preparation be carried out correctly in the premarital canonical and pastoral investigation process. Likewise, pastoral care for Catholic families also needs serious attention.

MANFAAT KPP BAGI PASUTRI KATOLIK YANG MELANGSUNGKAN PERNIKAHAN ADAT KENDAWANGAN SEBELUM MENERIMA SAKRAMEN PERKAWINAN

Marriage preparation course program is a preparatory stage for Catholic married couples in preparing themselves for the sacramental marriage. However, the phenomenon that occurred at the St. Lukas Teluk Batu Parish of Kanak-Kanak Yesus Marau nowadays many married couples are married in a traditional way before attending the Marriage Preparation Course and getting married in a sacramental manner. This is the author's concern, which raises several questions, namely what are the views of Catholic couples about the benefits of Marriage preparation course Program. The results of the study show that showed that Marriage preparation course Program give beneficial for their married life. The benefits that respondents often feel are that it helps them communicate in the family, helps in educating their children in a Catholic way, and they know the nature of Catholic marriage. In addition, this husband and wife generally have a traditional marriage before the sacrament marriage. The reason for this is because of traditional traditions and pregnancy out of wedlock. By now, they had all performed a sacramental marriage. This they do with the aim that their marriage is recognized by the Church and the state.

The Indissolubility Principle In Saumlaki District Court Decision Number 21 / Pdt.G/2014/PN.Sml

Marriage within the Catholic church recognizes the indissolubility found in Canon 1141, which explains that Catholic marriages are consummatum, unbreakable marriages, cannot be cut off by any human power and for any reason, other than death. The kind of legal research conducted is normatif where the law is conceptually defined as what is written in the law law (law in books) and or the law is conceived as a code or custom by which human behavior is deemed feasible, the case approach (case approach) and the conceptual approach of approach (approach). Revered to this research we can see that the state approves divorce proceedings because the state merely wants to give its citizens legal certainty, since the state's job is to provide comfort and safety to its citizens. While this study sees the indissolubility principle harmonizes with the principle of difficulty divorce, however, it is still rarely found the application of the indissolubility principle in national law, since basically religious and state teachings cannot be harmonized.

Premarital Sex in State-Socialist Poland: A Generational Perspective

In this article, we examine personal narratives on premarital sex by two generations of Polish men and women—one born in the 1950s and 1960s, and their parents’ generation, born in the 1920s and 1930s and coming of age during or after World War II—and place these in dialogue with discourses surrounding young sexuality in state-socialist Poland. Using sociological surveys, popular sexological literature, and Catholic marriage preparation material, we contextualize accounts of premarital heterosexual experiences, provided through oral history interviews and contest memoirs—ego documents submitted for autobiographic writing competitions in the 1960s and 1970s. We show there was no clear division between public secular and Catholic approaches to premarital (hetero)sexuality, with both opposing sexual experimentation before and beyond marriage throughout the state-socialist period (1945–1989). However, across the same period, young people’s acceptance of premarital sexual experimentation increased and the importance of a woman remaining a virgin until marriage declined. Our analysis of discourses and experiences reveals the connections and intersections of secular and Catholic realms. While secular experts did not conceptualize premarital sex as a sin, they often mirrored Catholic views by framing their discourse in terms of love, sex, responsibility, and potential risk. Young people negotiated various elements of these teachings in their premarital sexual practices, which, during the final decades of state socialism, were largely normalized, especially when couples were planning to marry.

Against the Dangers of Gender Equality: The Position of the Holy See on Public Female Gymnastics in Germany and Italy during the Interwar Period

Several recently disclosed dossiers kept in the most important archives of the Holy See and the Roman Archives of the Jesuits include information regarding the position of the Holy See towards public female gymnastics in Germany and Italy during the Interwar period. Given the reaction against these displays, the Vatican considered the masculinization of women and gender equality to be great dangers toward Catholic marriage and maternity. Concern for these matters, and for public morality, proved the principal motivation behind the negative attitude of the Holy See — specifically the official stance taken by Pope Pius XI— towards the participation of young girls in the public competitions of the National Socialist and Fascist regimes.

The novel, intended to be a confession to a priest, instead turns into a confession to the readers, who thereby become psychoanalysts, modern confessors of souls, as well as recipients of stories. Doña Emilia’s love letters to Galdós, contemporaneous with the novel, contribute to its understanding: external and internal worlds, in Melanie Klein’s terms, interact creatively. The surprising ending (the marriage of Asís and Pacheco) gives rise to a confrontation between the narrator and Asís. Catholic marriage, which binds the spouses forever, is paradoxically seen as the most natural thing and, at the same time, as irrational, senseless. To the Lacanian demand for impossible love that Asís brings to bear must be added the desire of the desire of the Other, experienced by both Asís and Pacheco.
