The metro tunnel space is relatively closed, it is difficult to rescue after the metro train fire accident, which causes heavy casualties and property losses. Studying the safe evacuation of passengers under fire smoke spread has important significance. The numerical simulation methods are used to analyze the reliability of passenger evacuation in metro train fire scenarios. Firstly, the required safety evacuation time (RSET) calculation methods in short-distance and long-distance tunnels are developed combining the pre-action time and train response time. Then, a passenger evacuation model in metro trains is established in Pathfinder software to simulate the evacuation process under different passenger loads, carriage layouts, evacuation strategies, and train locations. The simulation results show that the RSET is affected by passenger load, seat arrangement, evacuation strategies and train locaitons. The critical point calculation method effectively finds out the critical point of the train location, which guides emergency evacuation strategies in fire scenarios.
