Are Good Deeds Rewarded?—The Impact of Traditional Morality and Modern Responsibility on Green Innovation

The essence of intergenerational sustainability emphasizes the necessity of incorporating altruistic thinking and culture. While prior studies primarily examined corporate innovation strategies from a self-interested lens, this paper aims to investigate the drivers of corporate green innovation from an altruistic perspective. Analyzing a sample of Chinese A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2019, we employ both the OLS model and the mediation effect model to explore how traditional morality and modern responsibility impact corporate green innovation, as well as the mechanisms underlying this relationship. Our findings reveal that both traditional morality and modern responsibility significantly enhance corporate green management innovation, with social trust serving as a key mediating factor. Furthermore, traditional morality and modern responsibility play distinctive roles depending on the stage of economic development: traditional morality primarily influences green innovation in the early stages of economic development, whereas modern responsibility becomes more influential as development progresses. This study provides meaningful insights for research and practice in corporate sustainability, business ethics, and innovation strategy.

Unraveling contemporary trends on United Nations sustainable development goals: A new global bibliometric and literature review analysis

AbstractThis review presents a bibliometric performance and systematic literature review of research publications related to the 17 United Nations (UN) sustainable development goals (SDGs) in business studies. The study employs the 2020 revised Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses (PRISMA) framework to systematically evaluate and identify 583 articles sourced from esteemed academic databases, including Scopus and Web of Science, as well as seven reputable publishers and digital libraries, for subsequent analysis and synthesis. The identified 583 papers on SDGs, authored by 1610 scholars and published in 207 peer‐reviewed sources, are analyzed using VOSviewer and R Studio software. The analysis reveals the existence of nine independent clusters of SDGs business research: artificial intelligence and digitalization (red cluster), business collaboration (green cluster), corporate sustainability (blue cluster), circular economy and corporate social responsibility (yellow cluster), entrepreneurship and innovation (purple cluster), education for developing countries (aqua‐cluster), climate change and tourism (orange‐cluster), Africa perspectives (brown cluster), and sustainable investment (black cluster). This review highlights the foundation of the business studies debate linked to the advancement of the SDGs after the adoption by the United Nations. Key insights, future research directions and conclusion including implications are discussed.

Corporate Governance and Business Resilience in the Banking Industry

The unstable banking business environment and ethical questions that bedeviled the industry have opened new windows for researchers and policymakers on how best to tackle the menace. But as researchers keep pace on how best banking institutions can remain unperturbed with preparation for future adversities and bearing in mind the shareholders' wealth, the concept of resilience becomes the beacon of hope for managers and directors alike. 139 participants drawn from ten interest-deposit money banks in south-eastern Nigeria were selected for this inquiry. The result of this study demonstrated that corporate governance predicted business resilience positively. It was concluded that corporate governance that is predicated on board independence, board size, board effectiveness, leadership quality, and accountability would strengthen the resilience of interest deposit money banks. This study recommends that managing directors of interest deposit money can leverage corporate governance measures utilized in this study to strengthen the resilience capability of their organisations.

Green Logistics 5.0: a review of sustainability-oriented innovation with foundation models in logistics

PurposeThe paper uses foundation models to integrate the green approach in Logistics 5.0. Such integration is innovative in logistics and leads to a more sustainable and prosperous future. By harnessing the power of foundation models and incorporating sustainable principles, this paper can systematize the logistics industry’s environmental framework, increase its social responsibility and ensure its long-term economic viability.Design/methodology/approachGeneralizing environmental sustainability goals requires a multi-layered innovation approach incorporating corporate philosophy, products, processes and business models. In this paper, this comprehensive approach is not just a strategy but a necessity in the current global context. This paper uses the sustainability-oriented innovation (SOI) method, crucial for achieving explicit environmental, social and economic impacts.FindingsArtificial intelligence, especially foundation models, can contribute to green logistics by optimizing routes, reducing packaging waste, improving warehouse layouts and other functions presented in the paper. At the same time, they can also consider social, economic and governance goals.Research limitations/implicationsArtificial intelligence algorithms present challenges such as high initial investment, regulatory compliance and technological integration.Practical implicationsThe paper contains implications for developing environmentally sustainable logistics, which is currently one of the most significant challenges. The framework presented can apply to logistics companies.Originality/valueThis paper fulfills an identified need to study sustainability in logistics. The framework is entirely original and not present in the literature. It is essential to help design and implement innovative logistics approaches.

Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics: Case Study of TATA Group from India

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has increasingly become a vital component of the global business framework, especially within emerging economies such as India (Maheshwari M et al, 2024). This study delves into the relationship between CSR and business ethics by examining case studies of Indian companies, illustrating how these firms address critical elements of corporate governance and their impact on societal well-being. The analysis of the Tata Group offers an insightful look at how Indian corporations have embraced CSR and ethical practices to improve their brand image, support rural and community development, and foster skill development—all while maintaining long-term business sustainability (Tripathi S. K et al 2024). The study's conclusions highlight the fact that, for Indian businesses, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and business ethics go far beyond simple compliance to become crucial components of strategic business management. In addition to advancing society, businesses that successfully integrate CSR into their operations also strengthen their competitive advantage and long-term sustainability. This case study offers important insights for companies around the world, emphasizing how crucial it is to uphold ethical governance and incorporate social responsibility into corporate objectives.

Improved Shipping Company Performance Created by Digital Business Transformation and Corporate Culture

The pace of digital business transformation is accelerating; digital transformation cannot be a one-time activity, so organizations must develop a continuous development mentality and culture of adapting services and systems faster and more frequently by incorporating new technologies and practices to meet customer expectations. The study aimed to analyze the effect of digital transformation on cultural transformation on the performance of shipping companies, with job satisfaction as a mediating factor. Data analysis in this study is SEM analysis with the analysis of moment structure (AMOS) program. Respondents in this study were all employees who handled ship arrival and departure permits at 39 shipping companies in South Kalimantan, totaling 367 people. Based on the Slovin formula, the number of samples used were 191. The results show that digital business transformation and corporate culture transformation can improve the quality, quantity, and reliability of shipping company performance with job satisfaction as a mediating factor. The results of the research on the performance of shipping companies that are influenced by digital business transformation and corporate culture transformation can broaden and deepen the development of the digital government readiness assessment theory of change applied in both developing and developed countries as a measuring tool for the economy of countries and companies. Ethnoeconomy of Europe: Turkish Segment

The article examines the ethnic factor of the European economy. The migration of the Turks to Europe in the 1960s, formed a special segment of entrepreneurship in the region. A significant part of it was occupied by the representatives of the Turkish diaspora. Several factors including the social one contribute to the active development of the Turkish ethno-business in the European space. In addition, the formation and prosperity of the Turkish ethnic entrepreneurship in Europe is influenced by the high development of family and clan relations as well as the presence of various kinds of auxiliary mechanisms in the form of trade unions and business associations. In the context of small and medium-sized businesses, the key attention is paid to the development of the Turkish fast food industry related to the organization of food outlets, the hotel business, the provision of general services as well as tourism and logistics services. Large network business and transnational corporations of Turkey in most cases are engaged in such areas as: restaurant business; hotel business, including the construction of hotels; distribution of retail chains and Turkish brands. Islamic banking has also become a relatively new rapidly developing area of the Turkish ethnobusiness. The author concludes that the Turkish migration has significantly changed the nature of the European business. However, despite the wide representation of Turkish entrepreneurs in Europe, not all of them achieve the desired success and often face various kinds of discriminatory policies of the European authorities that restrict their activities.

ІНФОРМАЦІЙНІ РЕСУРСИ СИСТЕМИ ЗАБЕЗПЕЧЕННЯ КОРПОРАТИВНОЇ БЕЗПЕКИ БІЗНЕСУ

The study revealed the relevance of the issue of managing corporate business security, namely from the standpoint of forming information and analytical support for the management of these processes. The research method was the improvement of the formation of theoretical-methodical and applied principles using information resources of the system for ensuring corporate business security. It has been proven that information resources provide a number of important functions and tasks in the management system of corporate business security. In general, the system of such support is formed in the following directions: (1) analysis of the business security system; (2) identification of risks and threats from the external business environment; (3) identification of internal risks and threats; (4) management and protection of information, ensuring information security; (5) business intelligence and countering economic espionage. It was concluded that for each of the identified areas, appropriate information is needed, which corresponds to the following nature of the need. Thus, within the framework of the analysis of the business security system, information is needed that includes financial and economic indicators, production indicators, labor indicators and which includes marketing aspects of the enterprise; within the scope of identification of challenges, risks and threats that come from the external business environment - analytical reviews of markets, data on competitors; reviews of the business environment, analytics, trends, expert opinions on expected changes in legislation and their consequences for business; to identify internal risks and threats - data from internal structural divisions on expected risks and threats, personnel characteristics, socionics results, reports on the rhythm of production and sales of products; within the framework of effective activity in the field of data and information protection - the level of protection of commercial information, the level of security of document circulation, the quality of information and analytical support; for the implementation of effective business intelligence - innovative and technological activities of leading competitors, objects of their intellectual property, as well as all internal information security parameters. It is argued that the collection and use of such data - information resources allows to effectively solve a whole set of tasks in the corporate security management system of business, namely, the formation of full-fledged information and analytical support for the analysis of the state, level, and structural characteristics of security; identification of existing and existing threats by directions: competitors, counterparties, decisions of authorities, factors of the external environment; temporary identification and prejudice of factors of decrease in efficiency, deliberate destructive actions of personnel, intra-company entrepreneurship, spread of low-quality, "wrong" business processes, business technologies; achieving a high level of information hygiene, cyber security, an appropriate level of information protection, preventing its leakage in any form and manifestation; Collection of the latest data for timely response to the actions of competitors, getting ahead of them by strengthening business competitiveness, protection against economic espionage.

Business environment, financing constraints and enterprise innovation investment

This study utilizes a sample of A-share listed companies in China spanning from 2012 to 2022 to delve into the correlation between the business environment and corporate innovation investment. The findings reveal that a favorable business environment significantly bolsters corporate investment in innovation. Additionally, financing constraints emerge as a crucial intermediary factor, facilitating the enhancement of corporate innovation through improved business conditions. Notably, the business environment in both the eastern and central regions exerts a marked positive influence on innovation investment, with the eastern region demonstrating a more profound effect.

Corporate Tax Enforcement and Business Activity

ABSTRACT We examine the consequences of corporate tax enforcement for business activity. Using two different empirical approaches—a regional design and a firm-level design—we document that corporate tax enforcement is negatively associated with business activity, as measured by establishments and employment. This association is economically significant and is robust to tests that mitigate concerns regarding endogeneity and measurement. Furthermore, we find that the negative association between tax enforcement and business activity varies substantially in the cross-section. Specifically, we find that it is weaker for regions and firms with greater access to external financing sources and is stronger for regions and firms where compliance costs are likely higher and for which the ex ante costs of tax enforcement are greater. Our findings suggest that the effects of tax enforcement on business activity are economically important and heterogeneous, which should be of interest to academics and policymakers. Investigation of Corporate Governance in Business Group Affiliated and Independent Firms

This paper investigates whether there is a difference between business group affiliated and independent firms in terms of complying with the corporate governance principles. Based on data drawn from the corporate governance principles compliance reports of Borsa Istanbul (BIST) companies, the results of the study show that group affiliated firms have higher compliance with the corporate governance than the independent ones in general. The difference of the mean scores in compliance with the corporate governance, stakeholders, board of directors principles between group affiliated companies and independent ones is significant. However, the mean values in shareholders and public disclosure and transparency principles do not differ between these groups of firms. This study aims to advance the research on corporate governance and business groups by considering the corporate governance differences between business group companies and unaffiliated ones in an emerging economy.

IoT Integrated Smart Parking Zone and Website with Stand-alone System and Wireless Technology

The research project works to digitalize the full parking management system, transform the manual parking methods, solve traffic and road congestion problem and show live updates of the designated parking slots. It is ecofriendly and eliminates human interaction. It also offers personal and corporate business earnings. In the project, anyone can book time slots for parking following their convenient schedule, pay bills via the online payment system, control the entrance while entering and exit gate in the parking area with the vehicle using the website system. Users do not have to use any extra identity instrument, like- RFID Cards, QR Codes etc. The system will verify them by online credentials. Moreover, people can see the live slot updates for better security. The project collaborated with 3 major technology parts which are practical hardware, software and database system. NodeMCU, Ultrasonic Sensors, Servo motors, and other technical components are used in the hardware part. PHP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS etc. codes are implemented for the website development. Firebase Realtime Database and MySQL are integrated for the cloud and local database management with the hardware and software parts for building the IoT technology environment and infrastructure.

As the economy changes after the pandemic storm in all countries, especially Indonesia, many parties move very quickly, everyone must survive to survive, from national business corporations to small and medium class MSMEs to develop their businesses. The development of the business provides significant benefits for the company or business, which has an impact on increasing company profits. The company's goal is to sell goods to consumers and users both directly and digitally, so it is necessary to carry out effective and efficient sales. Sales usually consist of sales of goods and services, both cash and credit. Research conducted by Syarial, (2015), shows that the results of his research have a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, in this case researchers purchase using credit sales. The rise of credit sales in various regions both online and offline, many people from various walks of life to follow the latest trend. Technological advances have made many digital platforms appear. One that is widely used because of the convenience provided is the sales application. Because of this phenomenon, researchers are interested in examining Credit Sales at PT Home Credit Indonesia Surabaya branch studied through credit prices and credit terms. The purpose of this thesis is to find out the selling price, credit interest rate affects the credit sales of PT Home Credit Indonesia Surabaya branch, Validity test, reliability test, multiple linear regression statistical test, F test, and t test are used in this influence research, a non- experimental quantitative research method. The results found that credit sales (Y) were influenced by selling price (X1) and credit terms (X2), and both variables were influenced by credit sales (Y) if tested simultaneously.

The Antecedents of Carbon Emission Disclosure With Carbon Knowledge as Moderation

Climate change is one of the main problems faced by humans in this decade. Several environmental research institutions state that climate change in the next ten years is considered the most threatening long-term risk. Developed countries contribute 65-70% while poor and developing countries contribute the remaining 30%-35%. One of Indonesia's commitments as a country that is a member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The UNFCCC CoP (Climate Change Conference) is an annual world climate conference, where governments meet to discuss plans to address the climate crisis. This will be the 26th meeting. Where this convention is attended by 195 countries that are members of the United Nations (UN). This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the level of carbon emission disclosure, namely to test and analyze: The Influence of Corporate Environmental Awareness, Corporate Carbon Strategy, Green Corporate Business Strategy and Green Supply Chain on Carbon Emission Disclosure. In addition, this study also tests and analyzes the Role of Carbon Knowledge as a moderating variable for the influence of Corporate Environmental Awareness, Corporate Carbon Strategy and Green Supply Chain on Carbon Emission Disclosure. The analytical method used in this study is path analysis with the pattern of relationships between independent variables in this study being correlative and causal. Based on the results of this study, it shows that Environmental Performance has a significant effect on carbon emission disclosure. Carbon management strategy does not have an effect on carbon emission disclosure. Competitive Business Strategy has a significant effect on carbon emission disclosure. And green supply chain management has an effect on carbon emission disclosure. Carbon Knowledge does not strengthen the effect of environmental performance on carbon emission disclosure, Carbon Knowledge does not strengthen the effect of Carbon Management Strategy on carbon emission disclosure. Carbon Knowledge strengthens the effect of Corporate Business Strategy on carbon emission disclosure. Corporate Environmental Ethics: Catalyst for Green Innovation and Business Performance in Pakistan's Healthcare Manufacturing Sector

This empirical study investigates the intricate relationships between corporate environmental ethics, green innovation, and business performance within Pakistan's healthcare manufacturing sector. Utilizing survey data from 30 manufacturing firms, the research examines how green innovation impacts financial and environmental performance, with a specific focus on the mediating role of corporate environmental ethics. Furthermore, the study explores the moderating influence of environmental uncertainty on the relationship between green innovation and success in economic and environmental domains. Results indicate that robust corporate environmental ethics significantly enhance environmental performance, while green innovation coupled with such ethics contributes positively to economic performance. Moreover, environmental uncertainty moderates the effects of green innovation on both economic and environmental performance outcomes. These findings offer valuable insights for decision-makers aiming to navigate the complexities of sustainable business practices, particularly within the context of Pakistan's healthcare manufacturing sector.

Assessing the effects of sustainable supply chain management practices on operational performance: the role of business regulatory compliance and corporate sustainability culture

PurposeThis study examines the mediating and moderating effects of business regulatory compliance (BRC) on the association between sustainable supply chain management practices (SSCMP) and operational performance (PERFOP), and how corporate sustainability culture (CSC) serves as a boundary condition to BRC.Design/methodology/approachThis research draws data from 245 firms operating in multiple industries in Ghana. Ordinary Least Square (OLS) was employed to test the direct effects, while Hayes Process Macros was employed to test the indirect and conditional effects among the study variables using a structural equation modelling approach.FindingsThe results showed that SSCMP has a direct positive effect on PERFOP. The study further revealed that BRC mediates the relationship between SSCMP and PERFOP. This study found that BRC negatively moderates the association between SSCMP and PERFOP, suggesting that high levels of BRC generate unintended adverse effect on the SSCMP- PERFOP link. However, the results revealed that CSC serves as a boundary condition to BRC.Originality/valueTo the best of our knowledge, this is the first study that emphasizes how the resource-based view and regulatory focus theory interact to explain how different degrees of CSC and BRC impact SSCMP performance outcomes. This study advances research in the sustainability literature, in response to calls for further research in this domain. This study draws decision-makers attention on the need to make sustainability practices an integral part of corporate culture in order to set a business tone that stimulates easy compliance to sustainability requirements.

Impact of entrepreneurial orientation, marketing capability, and market orientation on business sustainability and corporate reputation

This research aimed to explore the effect of market orientation, marketing capability, and entrepreneurial orientation on business sustainability and corporate reputation in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). It also aimed to test the mediating effect of business sustainability between the stated factors and corporate reputation. The required data was obtained from employees of various SMEs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through a survey method. Structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used for data analysis in order to test the hypotheses and reach at conclusions. The analysis confirmed that entrepreneurial orientation and market orientation have significant effects on business sustainability and corporate reputation. It was also found that marketing capability plays a key role in affecting business sustainability and corporate reputation. Lastly, the results revealed that business sustainability mediates the relationship among the selected factors and corporate reputation. The findings contribute to the existing empirical research on this topic and suggest that SMEs’ management should emphasize on these factors in an attempt to ensure the sustainability of their businesses and strengthen their reputations.

How Does Digital Transformation Moderate Green Culture, Job Satisfaction, and Competitive Advantage in Sustainable Hotels?

Target groups within an organization adopt its culture, reflecting it in all internal and external business processes. Adopting a green organizational culture in hotels with sustainability certificates plays an important role in reshaping business processes by developing sustainability awareness among employees. Digital transformation, which facilitates corporate culture and business processes, plays a role in employee job satisfaction while also supporting environmental, social, and economic sustainability. This research aims to determine the relationship between green organizational culture, job satisfaction, and competitive advantage variables and to examine the moderating role of digital transformation on these relationships. The data-collecting techniques of choice were surveys and semi-structured interviews. While Amos software (Version 24) was used to test the hypothetical model in the analysis of survey data, a Hayes Process macro was used to determine the moderating effect. The interview forms’ data was analyzed using a bag-of-words model. According to the research results, there is a positive relationship between the participation, consistency, and adaptability sub-dimensions of green organizational culture and job satisfaction, while there is no significant relationship between the mission sub-dimension and job satisfaction. Furthermore, the study reveals the moderating role of digital transformation in the effect of job satisfaction on competitive advantage.
